Yes it's true, they have P.O boxes to get all your fan mail here and they have a place where you can drop off your regular plebian mail and pick up some big packages ( that you weren't already equipped with) They are pretty fast boring and nice here. read more

Well... I wish I could give them Minus! This horrible review is for the postmen who delivered and of course lost my package and USPS combined!!! They have a nerve to put on the tracking website that my package was delivered when I have not received any! I tried to call USPS Customer service line and I was super mad and annoyed by auto machine that never let me talk to the real people!! I was finally able to talk with a real people, I reported my problem and I was told that someone will call me back within 1 business day. Guess what, I received No call. I called them again, put up with an auto reply machine and finally asked them why did nobody give me a call. They said I have to keep waiting. Third time I called , they gave me the phone no. of the local post office that deliver my package which is this Sera Mesa Post Office. They said they have no clue about my case, no report from USPS, no nothing!! I asked them to keep looking for my package, the guy whom I talked to said he will look into it but there's nothing he can do i!! If it was lost it was lost!!! Seriously??? On top of that,I have to call them everyday and they gave me crap answers. They take NO responsibility!!! They blamed my neighbor and people from leasing office for losing it!! Thank God I'm moving out from this area, so I don't have to deal with this people from this post office!! Totally disappointed with how USPS work and this post office in Sera Mesa!!! read more

I paid for next day, and it was delivered 2 days. To make matters worse, the package was delivered damaged! Don't understand how u can deliver a damaged envelope but it was crumpled! Pathetic! How difficult can it be?! Just because it's not their property they don't care. Figures! read more

My favorite post office to go to! They are always fast and efficient, they let me stay a little past 5PM even though they are closed, and the staffs are always very kind and helpful. I believe their names were: Christy, Charie, Matthew, and Fred. Another was Lilia maybe? I memorize all the names because we are like a family there. I would LOVE to give a full 5 stars for this post office since the workers always seem so nice! Unfortunately, regarding my whole experience, it's just a 3. I prefer street parking versus the actual lot provided because I hate the possibility of scratching the underside of my car when exiting. As others mentioned, the fact that there are no drop boxes/chute for larger packages (or even a bin) is a huge deal breaker for me since I always print online. Lastly, whether there's 1 or 5 people waiting in line, it does seem to take quite a while to get serviced since there seems to only be 1 or 2 counters open at a time. This USPS location is extremely convenient being a 15min walk away, but I'll definitely be looking for alternatives. read more

Because it's a post office, i came here having low expectations. I expected poor customer service, long lines, and slow service. I have to admit, Serra Mesa's post office impressed me. The workers were so personable. They always made small talk and asked me about my day, all the while having smiles on their faces. They work fast and efficiently to ensure that the lines aren't any longer than they should be. For example, if the line is long, employees will take the initiative to service those that are just picking up parcels. I remember during the holiday season, one employee provided a pre-service to those in line. He made sure customers had all the proper documents before reaching the counter. What's nice is that this post office is hidden within a quiet neighborhood so most of the time, you're in and out. Parking can be a problem sometimes because their parking lot is small. read more

This post office doesn't have a big drop box for packages that are more than 13 ounces. There are mail boxes outside, like 5 of them. But none of them take larger packages. There aren't even drop boxes inside of the post office in the area that people can get into outside of office hours. There aren't even drop boxes inside the post office place where people could drop stuff off. These drop off boxes are super useful if, like me, I have a package that already has postage on it. In another instance, I did come into the post office when no one was there intending to buy postage for my package. The package didn't have the address on it because I thought they would give me a print out of the postage with the addresses on it, so the lady behind the counter told me to put the addresses on the package. There was someone behind me wanting to open up PO boxes, so I stepped aside. By the time I was done, there were 4 people in line, so I wasn't sure if I should go to the end of the line or just keep standing there. It was really awkward because I didn't wanna feel like I was cutting people. But the lady asked if I was ready after PO box guy was done, so thankfully I got it over with pretty quickly. She's so nice! But I'd have to give 3 stars because the parking is horrible and because it does not have drop off boxes like other postal offices do. read more

This place is always busy. There is no drop box for pre- paid boxes. But I still give this place 5 stars because their customer service its outstanding. I don't know how they do it to keep an enthusiastic attitude when they are always busy, standing up all day and dealing with different types of people. I would lose my patience and be a B*** all day. They are quick, efficient and helpful with every customer. There is a male with Malcolm x glasses (possibly manager) he comes out and helps the line move along. If you have a pre-paid/no postage required packages he will help you and you won't need to wait in line. You can tell there is teamwork in this post office. I know it may sound like a corny review but next time you go to a customer service place, go ahead and watch the employees interact. This location's customer service is outstanding. I'm never upset I'm waiting inline because at least I know they are working hard to get the line moving and still give me the best service. read more

Five stars for friendly staff and fast and efficient service! I see some people say negative things about parking but it has never been an issue for me seeing as though they get you in an out, street parking is usually available when I arrive. I choose this location over the one downtown where I live because of how kind the staff are here as opposed to Horton plaza. Little things make a huge difference in how you treat people. Christy!!!! What an absolute angel of a life saver. I was expecting a package to be delivered yesterday and for some reason it was delayed! I went in and explained to Christy what the package was and that I absolutely had to have it before leaving town today. She pulled some strings, asked a favor or two and had the overnight team save my package at the warehouse so I could get it first thing this morning!! She didn't half to pull strings or ask a favor she easily could have told me "yeah it's delayed" but she went above and beyond and literally saved my trip. No problems when I stopped in here to mail a package. It's a VERY SMALL post office in the middle of a residential neighborhood with a small parking lot. It wasn't too busy on the day that I was there. I was really happy that the cashier went to the back to search for stamps for me. It's rare to find the "Celebrate!" birthday Forever stamps in an actual post office and usually I don't even ask because they're always out. Normally I order online but I was able to get 3 books here... Thanks! read more

This post office is Awesome!!! Post office and awesome normally don't go together, but this location is a pleasure to go to. I went in at about 2pm on Monday, I was on my lunch break and was on a tight timetable to get back to work on time. I walked in and there was no line at all and literally 2 of the most pleasant, friendly post office workers I've EVER seen or witnessed in my life that greeted me with: Hello!!! How can we help you today? The service was the best you could ever hope for at a post office (or anywhere), the line was non-existent and I was in and out within 5 minutes or less. Left with a smile on my face and was back to work right on time with a few minutes to spare. Truly awesome location! AND there's ample parking including their own parking lot! read more

Let me start my review by saying that literally every USPS office I've ever been to is clean and welcoming, with friendly staff that gives you 100% of their attention, often going above and beyond the expected customer service. But not here! It smelled like rotting garbage in the trash can inside the lobby by the parking lot. The lobby area was dimly lit, dirty, unkempt and unwelcoming. I was the only customer when the clerk at the counter greeted me. I had a smallish portable Canon scanner in its original (medium sized) box and I asked him if I would need to put it inside another box (thinking they might have a large size puffy envelope instead). He replied "Yes". I said "Oh ok I'm not sure what size that would be?" He didn't say anything so I then asked "Do I have to actually build the box?" He said yes and I added "Because I'm not sure I have the skill set for that, also is there even any tape?" I paused a moment, hoping he'd offer "I can help you with that if you have trouble" but he didn't, so I told him I'd be back and returned with my teenager (she has an engineering scholarship!), hoping she could help me. We chose the only box that seemed close to the right size, struggled a bit to put it together and - I was about to ask him for tape, when my teen noticed there are tape strips attached to the box. Why wouldn't he have mentioned that earlier? Also there were no pens available, so when I approached his counter with my sealed box, he said "You have to write the address" and I said "Yes of course. There weren't any pens" so he handed me a pen. As I was writing, holding up the line with a task I could've done earlier (but, no pens) I offered "would you like the zip code now, to move things along?" He mumbled but I could've sworn he said yes but as I gave him the numbers he said "No, not now!" I told him to please pick the cheapest delivery option. Then as I swiped my credit card I saw the price was well over $50 to which I responded in shock "wow that's the cheapest?" And he said "Yeah it's because the box is so big" and all I could think was well why didn't you offer to help me earlier when it was clear that I'm not experienced at picking or assembling shipping boxes. So then I just said "Cancel the transaction I'll just pay for the box" and the guy said "Yeah well you shouldn't have taken such a big box." The lack of customer service was disappointing, he gave me the minimum amount of interaction and assistance possible. I won't be returning to this location for my USPS needs. read more

Came here the other day to mail some books. After driving around mindlessly, I finally saw it. It's not the easiest place to locate. I stood in line for maybe two minutes tops. At first I had planned on mailing everything priority, but having already packaged the books, the price would've escalated. The lady assisting me was a dear and helped me stuff the books, pre-packaged and all, into flat rate envelopes so I could get the lower price and the service I wanted. Christmas Eve we put out an envelope with card and cash gift for our carrier Robert. I put the flag up, the envelope was taken, mail left. Robert never got the gift. So sad. When I was a letter carrier this type of thing wouldn't be allowed to stand, the carriers had a code of honesty that was was stunning (smart people). My experience here varies depending on who I get behind the counter. Unfortunately, as of late, I have been getting the same guy over and over and there are no words that describe just what a pain in the arse he is. Older, full head of salt and pepper, and power tripping. THUS one star. For all the other people working there, I am so sorry, all of you deserve five stars just for putting up with him. Allow me to explain: 1) First encounter - Bring in a prepaid package to drop off, WHICH HAD BEEN WEIGHED, and he weighs it and says there is not enough postage. I weighed this sucker on two scales at home and I was generous with the postage. He was being difficult so whatever, no package for them. I pay for stamps with the joint card my fiance and I share - he sees joint written on it and says "Joint?! YES PLEASE". Oh ho, you are so funny. Let me tell you where I want to put that joint... And I bring in that package on a later day, different person takes it, no questions asked. 2) Every encounter since - ANY time I bring in a package to drop off, he says I don't have enough postage. I drop one off this morning, off to the side as it already has postage on it, and he says AGAIN "I don't think that has enough on it". I said I weighed it and its actually quite light (total of three doggie pee pads... don't ask). I try to hand it to him so he can feel it and he scoffs and me and says "I'm with a customer right now". Da** straight you are buddy, pay attention to them and leave me and my package the eff alone. TLDR, this guy needs to be hit by a mail truck. Twice. If you go and he is there, just turn around. So not worth it. Unless you have a lit joint, then apply liberally. read more

I am having an issue with a stolen package and no one ever answers their phone here for some reason.

Update (2/12/13): I have not received my W2 tax forms or my gift card that were sent to me some time in January. Of all things they had to not deliver to me, it had to be my W2 forms containing my personal information and a gift card with monetary value. But they go on sending me junk mail that actually belongs to someone from an entirely different street. So pathetic it's not funny. // I don't think the workers here can competently sort and categorize mail. My mom sent me time-sensitive mail that could not be delivered to me because I was at work, the package needed signature confirmation, and it was a large envelope that was too big to fit into my apt's mailbox. I don't fault USPS for holding my package at their post office under these conditions, but here are my gripes: 1. They didn't bother making a 2nd attempt. 2. Their office opens at 8:30a. I don't have time to wait around at the post office before work. Why couldn't they have more normal hours like 8:00a maybe? Or at least stay open in the late afternoon. 3. The main guy out in the front was kinda condescending...maybe because I'm young and don't understand all the ways of the post office...IONO?! W/E...screw him. 4. The same guy could not locate my package. He was looking at boxes of all shapes and sizes and I had to remind him the slip said 'Large envelope', a reminder he did not react kindly to. 5. The same guy told me he'd call me if he found it later. Yeah, ya lying d-bag, just write my phone number on a random post-it without even asking for my name or more info about the package. I knew he was just trying to shoo me away. 6. I checked the tracking of the package online and it said, "Recipient did not pick up package, item sent back to sender." Triple WTF! They failed to deliver on a Tuesday. I went in to post office on Friday morning BUT the item was sent back Thursday, after only holding it for TWO DAYS. It was CERTIFIED MAIL, they're supposed to hold it for FIFTEEN DAYS! I don't trust them with my mail so now I have to inconveniently send my packages to my boyfriend's house. I hate this place, especially their parking lot's exiting slope. That sh*t scrapped my bumpers...salt to my wounds! read more

Byfar WORST service! I had numerous issues. First, when I moved from one location to another, I forwarded my mailing address. I had a relative mail me something to my old address. This post office received it as forwarded mail. They left a little postcard stating we have 14 days to pick it up from the office. We arrived at the 11 day mark, and they had already mailed it back. I was irrate! my Second issue is that the mailman from this post office shoved very important mail and 5 textbooks into the mailbox, bending evertthing. Third, even though the inside of my mailbox has my name on there, they returned a letter sent to me. When I called them, they couldn't explain why but they told me they would mail me some paperwork to be filled out. I still have yet to receive this paperwork. Lastly, I ordered a textbook and received the package empty. These packages are weighed at every weighing station. What type of mailman would deliver a ripped, empty package? I called them and they refused to accept liability. Avoid this post office and avoid the USPS if at all possible. FedEx it is for me!! read more

I never write negative reviews but I had to post one for the Serra Mesa Post Office. I had such a bad experience. The two post office workers that we're working the counter today absolutely suck! It's sad because I live in Serra Mesa and I never want to go back. Whatever happened to quality customer service? While I have seen some improvement with customer service this branch still struggles. Dont ever leave a pre-paid package on their counter, they don't process them in a timely manner (and it has cost me dearly). They also need to stock the Priority Mail counter better, it's usually picked over and missing many sizes. read more

The employees here are friendlier/helpful than what was witnessed before. Place still needs a stamp machine and a face lift though. Like other reviews, try to avoid the "after work" rush. If you pull into their small parking area, be careful and be slow going out because the exit has an incline and can scuff your front bumper. read more

This Post Office is extremely unreliable! As if the delivery process isn't awful enough, you can stand in line for 20+ minutes to be waited on by a rude worker. They need more employees, better service, and reliable workers. You can go ahead and try to bypass driving to the building by attempting to reach them by telephone, but you will find, it only goes to a busy signal, unless you have Ardel's (the supervisor) line... But he rarely answers it. Well, the first problems (that we were aware of) arose around Christmas 2013.... When four packages went missing... The property I live at doesn't have an assigned driver and the female mail carrier (with East Coast accent) is extremely rude! She told me she was working overtime to run our route, but refused to check the locked package boxes to check for our 4 missing packages unless she was paid extra. We were able to get Ardel on the phone to insist she look, but she said she didn't receive calls in our mail room and still she didn't have time to check a few boxes... After 9 days of contact with the Post Office and supervisor Ardel, who promised follow up call after follow up call (broken promise), we took matters into our own hands and found our packages in the unlocked boxes, with the key already in them. I talked to a neighbor and the same thing happened to them. We moved to the area in Oct 2013 and we forwarded our address and changed all bills to our new address before we moved (had apt in our name already) and in the beginning of March 2014, we've now received 4 important documents sent in October. Around Christmas, multiple letters were opened. There is also an extreme delay in handling at this branch. Multiple letters sent from N.Cal. take nearly a month to be delivered. It's been the same scenario I've noticed from a health insurance company. May 2014 package was delivered to wrong mailbox. The supervisor actually came to the rescue that time and found the carrier had put it in the bin above ours. July 7, 2014 - another one of our packages was listed as 'delivered' but never arrived to us on that date - we notified office and Ardel of the error. Ardel personally told me to email him regarding the issue after they searched the PO for it. He was going to have the driver check the package bins and I never heard back. Package was delivered to office 7/25. read more

Conveniently located in Sierra Mesa, this post office's staff is very friendly and helpful. It can get pretty busy here around noon and around 4pm, but they'll make sure to have at least 2 people available to help. read more

I looked through the glass and the guy behind the counter just cut his hand across his neck and said "we close at 5:00". All I wanted to do was drop off mail.
