Let me first off by saying, this was extremely inappropriate behavior. I honestly felt threatened by this woman named Sandra who works here, "supposed to be assisting me". I went in to send in a package to my ill mother when she started belittling me and disrespecting about prices and where I was from and where my mother was from. I have never felt this uncomfortable in a place in all my life living in San Diego. Thank you so much Sandra for ruining my time with USPS and not helping me with sending in a simple package, maybe your superior can view this and take their time and sit with you about this. Love how convenient this post office is me. The building is what you'd expect from a post office open for many decades. The shipping kiosk as you enter always works and is efficient if you already have a label or need to print a label out. There typically isn't a line! If you do need to go to the counter, there are usually at least two workers that can help you ship things out. The lady that's typically on the left is lovely and extremely polite. I've sent many letters to Spain and they've all been affordable and have gotten there within 5 days! read more

I choose this Post Office though it's not closest to me. I really like the clerks and their service. THIS TIME they proved it! And it was just before closing at 5 pm on a Saturday. JOHN (conscientiously waiting for exactly 5 pm to gather all mail from the outside boxes) was so very pleasant and helped with some perplexing (to me) questions. There typically isn't a wait at this particular office. All of the postal workers are always cheerful and kind when I come in with my kids. It's very conveniently located as well- basically behind the Albertsons so if you need to do a few errands at a time, this place is in a pretty nice location! The parking lot is also easy to get in and out of- not every post office has so much space! read more

I deal with many USPS offices thru out San Diego and this by far is the worst! Customer service is horrendous and the people working there are obviously very unfriendly and unhappy! There's two gentlemen there that do a good job but unfortunately they are not there all the time. Otherwise it would be a good post office if they handled the front office all the time ( Won't say names otherwise it may violate yelps guidelines)! I truly HATE coming here and have stopped if I have the opportunity. If I have to come in, I only do so with my husband as a chaparone of sorts to help me feel more comfortable. When I first started coming into this post office, if you wanted to pay with card you had to provide your ID. The staff member who was helping me looked at it and noticed the address on my license and return label didn't match. I said I had moved recently and he made a comment about how he knew he hadn't seen me before because I was so cute and he would have for sure remember me and will remember me in the future. I just ignored him and got on with life but the next few times I had gone I had so much anxiety because of him and then every time I did get him, he continued to make inappropriate comments. Even when I had my newborn baby with me, he still made a comment about me being cute and remembering me and just overall creepiness. He would also treat his co workers like total crap. After far too many instances, I stopped coming here and if I do have to come, it is only with my husband within arms reach. I have also had an issue with my packages being delivered to me at home. This is the post office for my mail and they often will scan to say I rec'd my package, but they didn't actually deliver it. I had an instance where after a week I still didn't have my package so I called to open an investigation. They did nothing about it and I had to go into the post office. I talked to someone and still nothing happened. 3 weeks later, my package finally was delivered to me. Who knows where my package was. If I need stamps I will buy them online and I try to go to a different location to ship packages out. read more

Great service! My item was shipped back to my nearest post office (Navajo/San Carlos) that I needed to have by the next day. I requested for it to get delivered to their office and I'd just go in and pick it up the following day but was hoping I'd get the item ASAP since it was a gift. I called the office and an employee got my Info and went out of his way to contact the carrier and track the purchase which had just arrived at the office for me to pick up! This post office has the best service ever! Not only are they SO FRIENDLY, but they are super efficient and accommodating. John and Eugene helped me process over a hundred certified mailings, and they were nothing but patient and kind. They both need a raise!! I am seriously blown away by their service. I never leave reviews, but had to go out of my way and let everyone know that if you need to ever send anything out, this is the place to go. I hadn't been to this post office in a few years, but I came in to get some packages mailed and buy some stamps. I used to frequent this branch quite a bit when I lived on Robles Dr. There's a good amount of parking in the lot here. If it were to get full, there's an adjacent lot next door, and there is street parking too. It's an order building, so don't expect automatic doors and all the greatest conveniences. They currently have p.o. boxes for rent. They sell all the usual junk that is available for retail at the post office. This is also a passport location too. What stands out about this location for me is the service. I've never had poor service here, ever. I've been coming here since I was a teenager and I can't recall a time when the workers here were anything but friendly and professional. I wish that every post office was like this one! read more

It's hard to find a good post office with good employees. This post office is definitely the best one I have worked with. I've had an online business the past 10 years, and have moved around a few times, so I have interacted with a lost of post offices and a lot of postal employees over the years. This post office is medium sized, with a well run staff. I would like to give shout outs to Penny, Carlos, and Doug for being great tellers. I would also like to thank the manager Mark for always going above and beyond on all of my needs. I had a number of cases and issues over the past few months, and he was able to get to the bottom of all of them and get them resolved in a timely manner. I wasn't going to write this review until I realized that other people, a lot of other people, were having the same issue as I. Someone at this post office enjoys stealing other people's magazines. I stopped receiving my HGTV Magazine months ago and after many discussions with the magazine customer service we've determined that they have the correct address, and they even gave me the list of dates that they send out their magazines. I have a locking mailbox so no one is stealing from my mailbox. What is the missing link here? The 92119 post office. I talked to a couple other people in this zip code who also have mailboxes that are theft-proof who also miss magazines (different carriers so, again, the post office). One finally just canceled her subscription. I called the 92119 post office to inquire and after telling the person I talked to that I and other people in this zip code are missing magazines he said "oh." Wow, that's customer service right there. I posted a thread on Nextdoor and apparently this problem is very common in 92119. Lots of people miss their magazines. In fact one person got a replacement magazine from the magazine company wrapped in paper and it made it. Apparently they have to be disguised for them to make it through the 92119 post office magazine theft ring. I don't expect anything to be done (see above comment "oh"), I just wanted to air my grievances. We are forced to either buy magazines at newsstand prices or do without. The manager here is always really nice. Not sure if he's the manager but he's always trying to help get the best prices. It is frustrating how they never have tape for you to borrow. They always say you can buy it but refuse to lend it to you when clearly they have tape behind the counter. They may as well tell you to buy pens if you forget to write the address. read more

We were given a dog hold on our address last week. We were never notified of our mail being held per postal regulations. After a week of no mail I had to go I person and found out the manager did not notice the carrier created a dog hold. I was very disappointing how this was handled. Today is the second business day after I had talked to the manager and no mail again! read more

I have to submit my opinion just to bump the average review up a little bit. I'm not a business, but did have a box for many years. I've come to this post office for the entire time I've lived in this neighborhood, about 30 years now. I would agree with a three star review up until a couple of years ago, say 2019 or so. Since then they have been 95% on point. The lines that used to be so long and slow have all but disappeared, I think because there are more clerks available during busier times. Clerks are friendly and helpful in my experience. The self-service kiosk is great as long as you don't need special services. There are several businesses nearby with USPS post office services, and UPS and FedEx stores as well; maybe that's why they've upped their game? In any case, I have no complaints at all of their service in the past 2 years and would recommend them. read more

I just moved to this part of San Diego last year and have had exemplary service at this post office. The employees are always super helpful. I recently had to go out of town for essential work for a couple weeks and had been waiting for a package from Italy to arrive that needed a signature or it would get sent back. The employees of this post office let me know that they could hold onto the package until I returned or arrange for it to be forward to another address. I had them hold it until I could get back and sign for it. I wish I could buy them donuts or something as a thank you. read more

As good as it gets for the USPS! We've dealt with several post offices throughout the past couple of years sending bulk mail packages and this was the best experience so far! We had a bulk mail delivery of gift boxes to get out immediately and Doug was of great assistance in helping us make this happen. Ok it gets a star for being just a couple blocks from my house... Positives Staff is friendly... Has a drive through mail box drop off. Has the automated mail kiosk so you don't even need to speak to the staff unless you are sending something weird or overseas. Negatives Can get a little cramped (parking lot) put there is street parking and if you are really desperate there is the 7-11 next door. Its a Post Office so it does all those handy Post Office things :) read more

Horrible service. Two men (if you even want to call them that) are CONSTANTLY cranky, rude, and I think honestly just enjoy being complete jerks. Always have attitude with every customer, EXCEPT semi-attractive, younger females I've noticed. Suddenly, their demeanor changes to slightly less of an a-hole. Amazing. One is an older man with glasses on the tip of his nose named DOUG, with a mustache, grey hair. The other is an older man with a full beard, also glasses and grey hair, named AARON. I swear, way worse than the DMV. Many area residents have become more and more upset with the employees at this location. It will catch up with them. I even saw DOUG make an older woman tear up one time because of how nasty he was toward her. One younger guy seems to always have a good attitude along with a blonde woman, no idea how they're able to work with such scum. I'm sorry you hate your lives and got picked on your whole life, but learn some customer service. The private sector is taking over. I'm discontinuing my PO Box asap. read more

*UPDATE* Everyone at this post office is always friendly and helpful EXCEPT this one man. I have no idea what his name is but every single time I see him he is very rude. I often take large amounts of packages to the post office as I run a small business. If I only have a couple of small boxes I will leave them in the drop off box but many times the box is already full. So I take my boxes to the counter and nicely stack them so I won't clog up the box for someone else. Most of the employees highly appreciate this. Oh but not this guy. He also seems bipolar. No matter which option I take he gets angry and rudely asks why I didn't take them to the drop off or why I don't leave them on the counter how dare I clog up the box. He even yanked an envelope out of my hand and stormed off shaking his head towards the back. My last encounter I had nearly stacked all the boxes after another employee smiled and acknowledged I was leaving the packages and this rude a-hole comes up and says WHAT ARE THESE?! um sir you work at a post office these are packages have you never seen one before? This guy needs a reality check. Your life isn't that awful try and be nice to other people at least be the minimal level of polite to customers ok? Thanks Michael makes this post office. One of the better Post Offices around. Parking can get tight at peak times and the lines can get long. Go there during off-times, 2-4PM on weekdays is good, and chances are there is no wait. Like most Post Offices, the staff here changes constantly. Some employees are friendly and efficient, others less so. I've been going there close to twenty years and there have been no changes made to this location in terms of trying to make it look better, etc. Three stars on yelp = A-OK, and that is what it is. read more

like all post offices, you cannot avoid lines. my waits have never been too bad, i think 15 minutes at most. they have the machine in the po box area where you can weigh and create postage for your package. it is amazing. considering i only really use the post office for mailing cd's, this makes my life so easy. it's annoying standing in line to ask them how much postage i have to put on it. they have probably about 15 - 20 parking spaces, and if none are available, you can park at the 7-11 next door, or the parking lot near hollywood video and albertsons. read more

I don't usually write reviews however this time I need to express my dissatisfaction with this particular San Carlos Branch. Having a P.O Box there for 23 years I've only had to ask for help to retrieve my mail from my P.O. box twice in 23 years, today I forgot my key and asked the clerk (K)very nicely if I could get my mail, she told me absolutely not, however for a $9.00 key fee she would. I called the main # and I was told it's not a policy to refuse service to get my mail from the P.O. Box. Only later to have the supervisor from that branch call me back telling me that's his policy not to accommodate his clients with a very rude tone of voice. I will be moving my P.O. Box from that Branch ASAP. I don't need to deal with that kind of people, they should not be in public service. If you can avoid this branch you will be doing yourself a favor not to have to deal with unhappy and rude people. To be fair there are a couple of very nice and accomendating clerks in that branch, but not enough of them to make me want to keep my P.O. Box there. read more

I've been going here for 18 years or so. They have always been friendly, extremely helpful, and had a great sense of humor. (I think with all the different types of customers/situations they have to deal with, that could be very difficult at times.) Today I went in to mail a book to a friend. I had the joy of working with Penny. She was great! She quickly and easily took care of my needs, was humorous, (-which I needed today), and made the experience extremely smooth. I walked into this post office for the first time today (haven't been in ANY post office in years). I had an oversized box and two of my paintings to somehow secure in the box to send to my little sisters as a belated Christmas present. I had no idea what I was doing, and after trying to find a smaller box or shipping package for 15 minutes, I was just about to go to UPS and have them package and ship for me. I gad worked really hard on the art and wanted to make sure they were packaged safely. Then Mike Jr. Saw me struggling and was my Savior! He found two boxes that we ripped apart so we could safely and securely package my art. He totally went above and beyond. He helped me tape it all up using his tape (so i didnt need to spend $4)and walked me through (basicaly doing the work for me) how to use the two smaller boxes to secure.my art, instead of having to pay extra to use my oversized box.the other staff did not seem enthusiastic about helping me at all. I admit I was a little pathetic, who doesn't know how to package things correctly? Lol, but I went to the post office hoping for some help. Mike kept my total under $20, and really took his time in helping me with a smile on his face the whole time! I was a little embaressed thar I didn't just have everything wrapped up prior to going in, but Mike said it was no problem at all. Before he saw me, the other staff seemed to be avoiding helping me (I don't really blame them, and they weren't rude) but Mike Jr. Went above and beyond customer service in my opinion, and I am so glad I stuck it out and didn't go tp ups. Thanks to my experience today geting such great assistance from Mike, I will most definatrly return to this store, next time hopefully a little more prepared lol and thanks to Mike much more knowledgeable of the post office policies, and how to keep my art safe! !
