Great service from this post office! Only down side is that the historical and architectural significance of this building is not recognized by it's staff, and there is no presence for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation -- even though this FLW building is the first built in the Marin County Civic Center complex. You can learn more about it at the neighbouring Civic Center building! It would have been better if FLW Foundation had some postcards for sale, and so that fans of the famous architect could buy souvenirs to support the foundation and post office services! Seems like a BIG miss, when all other FLW-designed buildings would offer this all over the country. read more

Excellent customer service at the San-Rafael Civic Center USPS branch. Two USPS employees "Grace" and "Monique" have been particularly helpful and not to mention very patient, considering my bad habit of showing up at 4:59pm (they close @5). They'd have been completely in their right to not help me get my packages out, considering they're technically closed at 5, but they've patiently assisted me despite being at the tail end of their shift. Now let me be clear when I say that I do not encourage, condone or recommend anyone go there at or after 5pm expecting to be helped. That is definitely not advised.42+3'f='4'4 The last thing I need is for their patience to run out sooner than had it just been me that was late. They might start closing exactly at 5 and that would be very bad for me, because I am late very often, admittedly. At least I'm not in denial! Glass half full here, yes. Anyways even tho I'm not technically a USPS employee, I have certain tasks I help out with when I'm there. Like when I'm the last customer inside and someone else tries to come inside, I politeltly inform them that "the Novato branch is open till 6pm. Now F OFF!" Hehe, okay, I don't say that last part, but it would be hilarious to see peoples reactions. Now all my packages are always pre-paid since it's all stuff I've sold on ebay so most of the time I just need to drop them off at the counter, but I'm not gonna act like I haven't stumbled in holding multiple boxes with labels that still need to be attached and I don't have any tape... Doesn't seem too bad until you forget which label goes to which box. I just have to pull out my smartphone and consult with my eBay app, matching each printed label to its corresponding package even though at this point I know it's well after 5 pm... See, its at this moment you think to yourself, "Wow, their patience is just like what yelp thinks of this review; Pretty epic." That's also my que from yelp to "STFU". It means I've "typed too much and should probably go to sleep, it's 4am"... If I go to sleep now I might be able to get up early enough to make it to the post office before 5pm! Some of the staff are awesome, friendly and kind, some seem in a constant star of annoyance. Due to the removal of the postage stamp machine and lack of self service machines forcing customers to stand in line for everything. PO Boxes have 24 hour access, but they recently more than double the rental fees. Be mindful of heavy traffic coming from the East as you exit especially when school is getting out ( there is a middle school not far down the street on N San Pedro). Access and parking may also be hampered during the fourth of July Fair as the fairgrounds are just down the street on Civic Center Drive. read more

Demetria did a wonderful job explaing the proccess of how long it would take to get there as well as how to track it. She made the experience really easy for me and I hope to have her help me again. Waited 20 minutes in line just to find out that the post office does not have any holiday stamps at the register. It would have been nice to have some sort of sign to notify customers. This is the last time I go to the post office to purchase stamps. Such long line even during off rush hours and no self service machine to speak of. I will be saving myself the hassle and ordering postage online from now on. read more

One star for a couple of the staff who are very nice. Minus many stars for the fact that although there are four stations set up for service, there are never more than two people on duty, and usually one person is seen wondering around aimlessly while the other poor sod who's all alone at the counter is left to deal with an ever-growing line of customers. One time, a woman asked to see the manager and the counter lady ended up shouting his name every few minutes, to no avail. Interesting communication system, friends, and yet completely useless. I don't think the manager was actually there, unless he was enjoying a coffee and donut. I went there today to get stamps and noticed that the stamp machine is always sold out, so even if you feel like skipping the line, you can't. If you want good service, go to the post offices on Lombard or Sutter Street in San Francisco, where they understand that having more than one person at the counter may, indeed, expedite the line. Marin is one of the richest counties in the nation and yet it continues to go way, way downhill. Bring a book! read more

One star for friendly staff. Why do post offices have many windows for service and on a holiday only have one or two workers? Service is known to be so slow that people line up 20 minutes before they open. They were supposed to be open and providing service 5 minutes ago. But wait there is hope. 3 people came out to wait on customers. Which bodes well for the line of people already to the door. It's going to be a long day at the Post Office. Ah yes and another holiday season comes and goes. What would it be if the lines were actually short or even moving. Until next year... my annual holiday fun (not) is over. Where is the eggnog. I have had my PO Box here for over one year, and use the service widows for other postal service needs like buying stamps, mailing packages, etc. The staff there are really nice. One just has to remember that this is a small branch post office not designed to accommodate large crowds. The one on Anderson is much larger. I want to give a shout out to this location and specifically Demetria and Gail. I just went through a difficult process of trying to get a refund due to my postal meter incorrectly posting 178 pieces of mail. Anyway I was told I needed the form 3533 and I went to my local post office in Larkspur and they had no idea what I was talking about and they sent me to Corte Madera who also had no idea what I was talking about so then I went to the main post office for Marin on Bellam and of course explained my situation in detail and all three of those post offices told me I had to get credit from the postal meter company that I worked with. This was entirely incorrect. I reconfirmed with my postal meter service company who sent me back to the US postal service. So I asked myself who's going to be the smartest post office in Marin? And then I thought maybe the Civic Center PO where they service mostly lawyers and official county employees. Sure enough, from my first question they had the answer. They knew exactly what to do and even when I had a little extra complication that was my fault they helped me solve it quickly efficiently and with excellent customer service. Kudos! Looks like I'll be going out of my way in the future to use this post office. I recommend you do too. read more

Was out of EVERYTHING the week before Christmas: Christmas stamps, boxes, priority mail envelopes. They've done the holiday season before, right? And don't try to be clever and take advantage of the USPS's much promoted free priority boxes delivered to your house. This makes two years that my boxes never arrived. read more

This post office is doing a great job of putting itself out of business! Parking - there is none! And what is even more frustrating is that you see post office employees parking in the customer parking lot. They should not be allowed to take up customer parking spots. Of course, to do this, the post office would have to consider it's patrons as CUSTOMERS! I have never seen more than 2 people behind the counter and the lines are often 10-15 people deep. One of the ladies is really fast, friendly, and smiles. She works really hard and handles the customers very well. The other lady is slooooow and grumpy. She acts like she gets paid by the hour and she's not going to do too much work to earn that hour of pay. These two are completely opposite. If the slow, grumpy one would act like the fast, energetic one, they might stand a chance of clearing the lines. read more

The staff here are pretty rude and some could barely understand english. I asked them for help to look for a lost package, but they told me to file a complaint online (even though the people online and on phone told me to speak to go to a local post office and fill out some paperwork). Another time a worker did not let me mail my package because I used duck tape even though other usps post offices are okay with it. I would not recommend coming here. read more

This post office always has a big line!! There is a parking shortage. The attitude of one of the staff, an African American is very unwelcoming...no smile and all stare!!! My sis asked for a a stapler, which was just below the lady's nose. This woman looked at my sister from top to bottom and asked my sis to get in the long cue just for the stapler which would have taken two seconds to be passed on to my sis.Are u serious? Since I started selling stuff on ebay I have been going here almost daily. I have the same opinion that most have. There are days when there is no line and it's great but when there is a good size line, it kind of sucks. Since the beginning of 2016, new staff has appeared and they are many times faster and friendlier than those who worked this corner over the last decade. Not great for international shipping, best PO for that is Mill Valley. But it's a unique little place, if not designed by Frank Lloyd Wright then designed with him in mind as his building is just across the street. It's no place to go during the holidays, it's closed on Saturdays and yes you can get a line sometimes. But it's close to the walking path around the waterfowl haven Civic Center Lagoon and the convenient, locally owned Santa Venetia Market. All in all, I'd rather go there then most of the other Post Offices if only because it has a little charm. read more

I had it with this branch of USPS post office. Usually our postman pickup our prepaid stamp.com package. However today we could not get the package in time for him to pickup. So I had to drop the package in the post office one package has expensive item in it so I want the post office to scan it. Waited 25 minutes and finally my turn the Asian woman clerk said they don't recognize the postage from stamp.com. This is crazy she just won't take it and won't scan it. This is crazy. The staff there offer the most slow and inflexible service and true government agency that is on its last breaths. read more

It's really no wonder why the USPS is going broke. I rushed from work to get there by 5pm with a package I needed to ship because the hours are so crappy, and I get there exactly at 5pm as an Indian man is seeing the last customers out and getting ready to close the doors. I try to enter and he says we're closed, I try and be friendly and say really? You're not going to let me in? He shuts the door in my face. Extremely rude, they should hire some non illegal immigrants for Christ's sake. I will never use USPS to ship anything and will gladly take my business elsewhere. They're digging themselves in a hole, straight to hell. Hope they all get laid off or fired and then they'll think, gee maybe we should have been a little nicer. read more

The worst. Understaffed with a long line and no place to put your packages except the floor while you wait a long time. Also the parking lot is a pain since you can't use both driveways to enter which can mean you must wait at the light and go around the corner only to find the tiny parking lot full, another time waster. read more
