My mom and niece just got back literally crying from having the worst passport renewal experience at this post office. Thanks to an older lady named MARGARET! Completely RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL!! This should be an easy process if something isn't done correctly please explain DON'T yell at your customers and scold them. It's stressful enough filling these forms out as accurate as we can. If you don't like your job do us all a favor and retire stop spreading your misery and negative vibes on everyone, they should have employees who actually want to work and have a fresher attitude. read more

Couldn't get much worse. I live in an area which admittedly is difficult to navigate-lots of private roads and narrow hillside streets. Add to this that we almost never have any consistency in mail carriers. Most recently I tracked a package from Nordstrom on-line and it kept showing exception errors-left notice, porch not safe to leave package, etc, Except I never got any notices and our porch is one of the safest in OC. I called the post office and was told the phone wait time was 35 minutes. So I went down to the Grand Avenue Post Office in Santa Ana worried that since on-line they said they made several delivery attempts it might get returned to sender. The initial clerk was very nice but confused and told me I had to wait for a manager. So I went off to the side and waited.........and waited..I think the manager was trying to let me know how unimportant I am. When he came out he became really belligerent because I had my little 20 lb dog who was sitting quietly (thank you 3 years of obedience training) and told me dogs are not allowed. I thought really? - the unreliable carrier has been faking deliveries and I had to drive 15 minutes to get to the post office, then wait 10 minutes to get help and this is what he chooses to focus on? (unrelated while I was waiting several of the staff came over to tell me how well behaved my dog was-he was in a down/stay and completely silent). Anyway, the manager made all these excuses about why it was my fault, how they have trouble getting carriers for my route, how my carrier gave it to another carrier so no they don't know where it is blah blah blah. I finally left feeling very irritated. So the good news was the package arrived on my door step later that day. Moral of the story is to wait things out rather than seeking assistance prematurely. Better than most post offices.. I came in around 4:20 and there's was a lady there who was cordial and helped me a lot. They don't have packaging tape other than the ones they sell so keep that in mind if you will be sending anything. There are two different medium size boxes with one having a self adhesive sides. (No tape needed) I will probably come back to this location again if I need to because it was fast and efficient. read more

*********DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE********** (WITH PASSPORT RENEWALS AND APPLICATIONS) If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My sister and I waited in line for 2 HOURS on a Saturday morning to renew my passport and apply for an adult passport for my 18 year old sister. They open at 9:00am but didn't open the doors until 9:40am. We there at 9:45am with ONLY 8 people ahead of us and left at 12:00pm. This place is NOT efficient or organized in the slightest! There are two different forms for renewals and passport applications after you are no longer a minor (even though it's still technically a renewal). Not to mention, those that needed to take photos. They would service anyone who had mail and packages first, and then service the passport applicants in between if they had a chance. About an hour in they gave out tickets to those in line. The workers would also randomly go through the line assisting the renewals or ones with photos first. Absolutely no rhyme or reason. At some point one of the workers came up a few different times to see my application and ask if we needed pictures. After coming by at least three times, he finally took me to take me and process my renewal. That entire process took 10 minutes!! What in the world is the hold up then? When I was done I went back to stand in line with my sister, since she had a different form. Another half hour goes by and we are finally helped. We get to the counter and an older senile woman with gray hair assists us. She asks for my sister's ID and I'm baffled because we don't have it - I drove. She says that we need it because her old passport was a minors passport. I asked if we could go get it and she stated no, even though we have a ticket prior to their cutoff point. When she started to raise her voice at me, I was done with her. At NO point did the 4 workers that were randomly going through the lines checking peoples applications say anything to us! If they had, we would have had 2 hours to do at least 50 trips home and back to be able to make it. In the end, it took 2 hours to process my 10 minutes application, and we did not end up being able to process my sister's. We ended up leaving, and I will be definitely be going elsewhere this week to complete my sister's paperwork. This place needs to be managed better. They should have two lines for different applications and a line purely for photos. They should also at least hand out a checklist or something to so you know what you need to have. These people have NO urgency, forward thinking, or customer service! Plus be aware they only process passport applications for 2 hours and will send everyone else home if you're not within their cutoff time! read more

Let me tell you about HERBERT. We have never sent out a cashier's check to the DMV so we had a few questions going in. Not only was this teller rude but he was passive aggressive and had this attitude. My husband is deaf in one ear so when he asked HERBERT to repeat something because he mumbled, HERBERT answered him in a condescending tone. Glad to see that that's how you treat your veterans. This is a major post office compared to some others in the area. This place has two drive up mailboxes, and also does passport processing. The parking lot is not huge, but there always seems to be parking. The line is often long, but that has to do with the unfortunate decision to only have two or three people working a customer service counter that can have four times as many employees serving the public. read more

Well, I just don't understand it. I have gone online to hold mail, but I was told by a postal carrier that it's best to just fill out the yellow card and send it out in the mail; this way the carrier knows about the dates and so does the postal station. That's what we did: put a card out for pickup to hold starting 12/24 and start service again 12/27. However, they DID deliver mail 12/24, and on 12/27, here we are, and there's no mail. I know this, because an envelope we had to go out did not get picked up. Guess I'll just have to go over to the postal station and see what's up. Our tax dollars at work--I think not. Some inefficiency here...might account for some of the budget problems. read more

First, they need to empty the outside mailbox more frequently. It is always bursting at the seam and envelopes are hanging out because the box is so full. This is on a regular basis. Second, I send lots of payments for work that seem to not make it to its location. So, I end up having late payments and even collection. Not sure if mail is stolen from mail box or drops of during processing. Either way I don't trust this place now. read more

No wonder post offices are closing, hours are cut and consumers are finding different ways to ship their products. I sent a small package from Santa Ana to San Diego on Oct 17. The recipient never received the package and I opened a claim on the 29th. On the 30th, I received the return package in an envelope stating that USPS had damaged it. I bought it to this station. The POS employee name Herbert was so unhelpful. He told me that the package was too small to mail while his Co worker said it was fine to mail. I asked for a 2nd tracking label which he wouldn't put on the package for me. It took me two seconds to do this and get back in line. His breath is absolutely horrendous and his customer service is worst. I will never use USPS again. read more

Saturday I expected it to be busy. I think this location has not been able to streamline their process no matter how long they have been here. I came here to mail a prepaid first class mail package. All I wanted to accomplish is getting it scanned as received udid not need a receipt. I told an employ Hartencia what I wanted to accomplish. She told me I had to wait in line. I asked if I dropped it off in their bin will it be scanned? She said it all depends if their busy or not. I need to make sure so since she sounded like she dare not do more than she should, it seemed i would not get a scan if i dropped it off in the bin. So i decided to wait in line. As I stepped in line I asked her who was your postmaster. Artencia responded and said "they changed the person, I dont know the name". I waited in line and got the scan. Until today I've never had any hiccups with mail delivery. A package of mine was mis scanned somewhere along the process, and my mail got lost in the process. Farrell took ownership of my concern, tracked it down, and promptly followed up with me. Not only was he able to locate it, but he was able to get it on the last delivery truck of the day. This post office is a perfect storm of incompetence and apathy. Fully ¼ of my packages in the last year have been delivered to the wrong address (single family home). I agree with Sahara G, I experienced terrible, unhelpful customer service when trying to get advice on what envelope worked best for what I was trying to ship. Point from the counter at a variety of envelopes across the way is not helpful. When I pointed to each envelope on the rack for clarification, she just kept shaking her head. She was highly incompetent and thought it was funny that she wasn't being helpful. So I left and decided to put my package back in the original envelope i had it in and it was delivered just fine to my customer on the East Coast. Update !!!!!!! I wish i could give zero stars !!!!! I pay for postage everytime I go in to make sure i dont get returns and I was just returned an envelope I paid for at the counter ! The same lady who overcharged my for an international envelope forgot to put the postage for my other envelope ! And now i have to pay again are u kidding me ! As a result no mail is being delivered and must be picked up at the GRAND AVE location. After waiting quite some time,I explained the reason for my visit. The man at the counter replied to me "Great, another one". After tossing my ID back to me, he went to to get my mail and came back with 2 seperate envelopes. What is the deal with Marlene? She has no customer service, not polite AT ALL, speaks Spanish but pretends she doesn't. Went in yesterday to make an appointment and she was helping an older Latino gentleman and literally raising her voice at him or speaking to him in English, when clearly he didn't speak English. Came in today for the appointment was waiting next in line and she jus looked at us and ignored us, never acknowledged us so I went and told her we had a passport appointment, she said very rudely "I'll help you right now". Not a good place for the passport applicants they are very slow plus they charged me 60$ extra that I am going to received my passport in two weeks ( express one ) it's been 4 weeks and I still didn't received it , plus if you asked them they are saying it's not in our hand if it's not in your hand thn why you guys are charging us extra ? I was very satisfied with my time here. I was here getting a passport and I originally came in as a walk in, she told me there was something wrong with my photo and that I would need a new one. It wasn't really a big deal because if I risked sending it in as it was then it may not have been delivered before my trip. She warned me about how it might have taken longer with the bad photo which I was grateful for because I really needed it on time. I got the pleasure to work with two of the ladies that worked there. I scheduled an appointment for the next visit (which I highly recommend). She said the photo was good to go. I got my passport on time and was able to leave the country shortly after. read more

FRANK was seriously the best post office employee I've ever dealt with. This guy is fast informative kind and efficient and seems to love his job. I work in customer service as a manager for a company and this employee needs a raise! I was observing the other employees and he goes ABOVE and beyond where nobody else even came close.
