Bad place to mail something. I renewed my passport here without incident about 5 years ago. Long lines all the time. But if you get registered mail and you're not home, do you have a choice? I could see this place being 1 or 2 stars pretty easily. All the ingredients are there to make for a bad experience. I think mostly I've been lucky and dealt with some reasonably friendly staff. read more

My normal letter carrier is awesome. Unfortunately large package carriers regularly falsify delivery times and claim delivery attempts that never take place. For instance, my Sunday Amazon deliveries always arrive the next day. To avoid supporting a corrupt environment, I now select other carriers when given the choice. read more

I wish I could give a (-5 star) rating! After tracking a 2-day Priority Mail package sent to me, this office told me that you mail mail a package "Priority Mail - 2 day" and get charged extra for the service. However, delivery is NOT guaranteed, as you would expect for the extra charge you paid. I my case, after 3 days I have no package! The USPS web site only reports the day it was shipped; Santa Cruz Post Office doesn't know where it is; can't tell me when it will be delivered; and as far as they know the package is still sitting at the sending point. Such derelict, incompetent robots! And they want royal wages, early retirement, and luxury pensions! They should hide their face in shame! They are nothing but parasites! read more

I have a feeling that the people that have huge problems with the staff are morons and bigots. Suck it unhappy assholes and leave the good people at the Santa Cruz Post alone. It turns out someone broke into the USPS box and stole our front door key, so I guess it wasn't the post office's fault for not being able to get in and deliver mail. I am still unhappy with how they handled it, though. They were letting mail build up and not alerting any of us until I came in and inquired. read more

This post office has long lines, the clerks and postmaster have an inability to have "flexible thought" for mailing packages/letters to addresses that exist, but that they claim do not. I have had my packages opened a few times for no reason, and extra charges incurred after sending packages they claimed were "good to go" and fully paid for after checking with them. Poor service, long lines, and stupidity. I'd steer clear of this post office. read more

If I could give them a zero, I would! The rudest, most unprofessional group of Federal Employees I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with! The first window worker refused to ever lift her eyes from the counter and when the man she was helping told her that he could barely hear her, she rolled her eyes--without lifting them, of course. Not to mention that her hair looked like she hadn't combed it in 5 days. Then the employee helping me reached into my box of cards to be mailed without asking me and tried to show me that my card wouldn't fit through the hole for the machine--even though it did--and was trying to get me to pay 72 cents for each of 36 cards. The next indignity came when she refused to use my credit card because it stated "see my ID" for signature as I had experienced identity theft in the past--even though I had my driver's license with signature and alternate forms of photo ID--she made me sign it to use use it, then in a snarky tone said to another person in line " Oh, I feel the saaaamme way!" whom I assume must have expressed displeasure about waiting to be assisted. When I asked to speak with their Manager, I had the shift Supervisor instead, who after listening to me state the above, patronized me by saying that he would write it all down and speak to his Manager. When I asked if he would write it now, he refused. When I asked for his Manager's name, he refused to give it to me. When I stated that I was going to write a letter so I needed the name, he finally wrote a name down for me but I have no idea yet if it is the real name of the Manager. All I can say is that the people I had contact with this day are poor excuses for ANY Employee--let alone FEDERAL Employees. I've lived in this City for 18 years and have watched as the quality of care has diminished and the number of drug abusers and vagrants has increased. The behavior and service that I had to experience today, I believe, is a direct reflection of this. We should be ashamed!!! A house here costs over 1 million dollars, but the type of service we receive at this Post Office is like we live in a federal Prison! I won't return and strongly suggest that people go the extra mile down the road to the Office off of Soquel and Seabright. Save yourselves! read more

1) Hours posted at USPS online are incorrect. Location is CLOSED on Sunday. Lobby too. 2) USPS email a problem option is a death spiral - cannot really communicate an issue at all. 3) Self-Serve Kiosk broken before Christmas and staff admitted as much but failed to even put a note on the machine - wasting customers' time and risking a parking ticket (no free parking at this location). Can the USPS just get its hours right online? If so, maybe they can also put up a sign when the self-serve kiosk is broken. And if that is possible, maybe someone can make emailing them a possibility? In short, this location is very, very poorly managed. read more

I am always surprised by how poor me experience is at this location. 90% of the staff are rude and lazy. They will try to start turning away people 10min until closing or will try to say they can't do something. For an example, I had a QR code label for postage and the lady who always asks for drop-offs in line gals me they don't do that and I. We'd to go somewhere else. I knew for a fact that they did and told her I would wait my turn in line. She could th her to argue with me even up to the window where the one friendly employee scanned my QR code and printed my label. I just dropped off another package and waited in line so I could get a receipt and a different employee rolled her eyes and didn't say a word to me. If they are keen on being so miserable perhaps they shouldn't be in customer service? I will drive a little further to go to a friendlier branch. I love se ding packages through the mail to friends and family but many of the employees at this branch make it a sour experience unfortunately. read more

I am amazed at the response I just received from the Post Office on Front Street. 1 - I called and the phone was answered by a real person on the second ring. 2 - I identified that I needed to reroute a package that I had submitted for overnight delivery, thinking it would be impossible for them to do so but I wanted to try anyway. 3 - The man who answered the phone confirmed the package was at their facility and put me on hold. 4 - After less than a minute, the mail delivery man for the area answered, confirmed that he could cross out my original address and write in the correct one. The incorrect address I originally noted was in Santa Cruz, the correct one in another state, yet no additional charge or action on my part. Unbelievable! I wish I had gotten the names of the gentlemen who helped me. read more

Some of the dumbest postal people in the world work at this location. Brain dead. I remember picking up a package for my Mom. When I went to the desk, they tried charging me extra postage! For something that was already paid for!! WTF? I refused the package and told them I wasn't paying it. These cheats have also gone through my Dad's post office box from time to time. This review is about the mail pick-up and delivery (or lack there of!) that is associated with this post office. I live near the post office and I've had to start bringing anything I want to mail straight to the office and drop it off there because no one bothers to pick up the mail at my house at least every other time I put the flag up. It seems that if there is no incoming mail, they just skip my house altogether, and I don't get mail often, so there have been times when outgoing mail has been left out for days, with the flag up, and no pick up, (and no I'm not talking Sundays or holidays, regular business days). Even with taking letters directly to the post office, I've had them never reach their destination or have it take a week to get to an address just a few hours away. I've also had numerous packages sent to me lost. The worst part is the person sending me the package will use Delivery Confirmation and it will say it's been delivered but it's nowhere to be found. In these cases I call the post office and get put on hold for 20 minutes or so while they look around and then tell me to try checking my back door or with neighbors. I don't have a back door, and it's never with the neighbors. Usually the package shows up a few days later with no explanation as to why it wasn't delivered when it said it would be. Other times I'm shit out of luck. And to top it all off, I consistently get other people's mail left in my mailbox. This has happened 3 times just in the past 2 weeks. The first time it was a package and I put "return to sender, not at this address" and sent it back out. For some reason, the same package returned a week later--the post office had simply put one of those yellow stickers over my handwriting and left it in my box again. I decided to find the person through a google search and got her package to her, (it was a videotaping of her daughter's choir performance, professionally recorded--how sad would it have been if I hadn't gotten that to her?). This week it's another letter as well as someone's license that has been delivered to my house despite having a different person's name and address on it. I've given up on the post office and went ahead and found these people through google searches as well and will be delivering their mail for them--not my job! These idiots at 850 font st had my package there for 4 days. I went to there everyday to see if there had it, and they always said "no, we don't have it." Turns out they had it all along and they were just neglectful and very incompetent. I asked to speak to the manager on the phone, and the operator was trying to discourage me to not speak to her by convincing me she was not there, and I will be on hold for hours. After telling the operator that I am willing to wait, I was able to speak to the manager after being on hold for 1 minute. Nice try douchbag operator. Anyways, this has been a terrible experience, even when they did find my package, they shipped it back to ups storage office. Take my word for it, everyone at the front desk is brainless, the stupid old man with the white goat, the old guy with an earring, and some stupid gray haired short lady, all are a bunch of stupid ass morons. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS POST OFFICE!!!! It is much safer to send things to anywhere, but here. The ONLY post office for the entire downtown and the whole west side of the city/county and there is NO parking and traffic is ridiculous. I was supposed to receive 7 pieces of vintage glass, but the box got opened at the Atlanta postal office/center. They put books and opened chocolates in my box with a letter suggesting me to request a parcel search if I felt that those were not my items. They just provided a P.O. Box address, no phone number. So, I went to my Santa Cruz postal office in down town to file a claim and to seek for some more help, made the line and was sent to the famous Mr. Passport. He first had to dedicate 8-10 minutes to play with changing a labels tape on a machine. He would get some labels out of the tape, test if they stick or not, put the tape back in back out many times while completely ignoring me. When he finally decided to take care of his next customer, Me (by the way, there was a also a line of people waiting), he just read the letter to me and said that he does not file claims, he then suggested that he would return the items to the Atlanta office as somebody else may be missing them to what I agreed, so I asked if I could have a receipt and he said no, so I kept the wrong items with me and left very frustrated at the great help of this postal office. Stopped into get a passport. The lady was friendly, helpful, and talkative. Maybe just a tad too helpful I had to wait while a man at the counter started and completed his form, even having to call relatives to get information for the form. However she was diligent and made sure everything was done correctly. She also made sure everyone that was in line was taken care of. This is the sort of caring and service you hope for when you visit the post office. Fun fact, they also do Photos there and copy your ID as well. So while other places in the county try to make it a hard process, this is a one stop, get it done service. They do take credit-cards for some of the fees, but the bulk of the fees need to be paid with debit card, or cash. Collect your documents, fill out your form and show up, but find parking that has a longer meter than the 20 min spaces right out front. read more

If there was another post office closer to me I would go to it and not here, ever! Barbara has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced in any post office anywhere. Is that being too direct? I think not. I went to get to get 2 stamps. One for the addressed envelope I had in my hand on the counter as I asked, "2 stamps please" Her reply was "what kind". It kind of threw me for a moment because in my whole 57 years of getting stamps, I have never been asked "what kind". So moving in the 21st century, I am guessing that there are several types of stamps, but I had an addressed envelope in my hand. If I didn't know what I needed, I would ask. I have never been afraid to ask for what I need. I would have said "I have this to mail and not sure what I need", but, I knew what I needed, had it in my hand Barbara.............. The United States Post Office is filing bankruptcy, so Barbara, up the customer service without sarcasm and smile instead of the sour puss face I got when I commented on your horrible customer service. I have gone 3 times to get my passport done at the Willow Glen post office and it was always a nightmare. You have to come early get a number then get an appointment and come back when is your turn. I decided to try this post office and I was very impressed. I got there when it opens and I was the second one in line. Tiffani was very very friendly. Very efficient and fast. You just need to stand in line and wait for your turn. I would recommend getting there when it opens so you will be out of there in no time. read more

The USPS is useless. They delivered my package to the wrong address and then tried to tell me that the problem was mail theft. They took no responsibility for their own mail carrier delivering it to the wrong frickin' address. They told me if I wanted to follow up on the issue that I had to contact the post master to report mail theft and track down the thief. I am frustrated that the SC post office is unable to fess up to their own incompetence and just reimburse me for the package! All I have to say is thank gawwwd for Amazon and their amazing customer service policy that will reimburse me for a package even when it is clearly the fault of USPS. read more

Went in for Passport service, Somebody told me they can process renewals but all they do is take a picture for $15 which you can get at Costco for $5. The guy is not too friendly...I think the only thing on his mind is retirement. read more

Having lived all over the country and the world, I give five stars to the Morrissey Ave. post office. If there is a line, it usually moves swiftly, even if they are dealing with nutty people asking dumb questions. The counter staff here are unfailing pleasant and polite, and the guy who locks up at night never does so early, a great help to those of us trying to run to our PO Boxes after work (something that can't be said about all post offices). The post office remains one of our best "deals" as taxpayers, for my money, and this branch is one of the best. read more

I decided to yelp this branch as it's my local one that I use quite often and I wanted to temper the overall negativity on here about it with my personal experience and insight. I love the building and the historical architecture so I amuse myself studying it while in line. Yes there are often lines as this place is unusually busy because of the local demographics, it's location and it's a main branch ... no big surprise there to any reasonable adult. Yes there is one teller that can be somewhat abrupt and doesn't make gratuitous joyful noise behind a mandated plastic smile. I call her the "postal nazi" as you'd better have your act together when you approach her window or you will feel a vibe of impatience from her tone. I've tried to engage her in a little conversation at times and there definitely is a person behind the socially impaired front ... she doesn't have the best social skills but she is very good at her technical job. Give her a chance and don't act completely inept at what you're doing and you may be pleasantly surprised. Yes I know the whole package is part of her job but we all have quirks and it has to be a very trying position, just give her the same leeway you would appreciate on a trying day. Most all of the other tellers are very pleasant and outgoing. I've been in there many times with special circumstances i.e. having my stuff shipped to the wrong address (my mistake) and other self-inflicted situations and the staff is always as helpful as they can possibly be. Keep in mind their hands are tied by strict federal postal regulations and rules so if you have a particular situation or problem that they say they can't personally rectify for you at that moment just understand that that is the unchangeable reality. Believe me, they would like to be able to solve your problem immediately as much or more than you do but they absolutely can not. If you happen to have an instance like this just be an adult and understand and not a child throwing a tantrum just because you're not getting what you want regardless of the circumstances or reality. Mailing from the East Coast to this facility and in one year, two packages have been lost. The first one, pieces of the box/label were returned to me months later with nothing else. I got a refund for that, but since the box was full of holiday gifts that we thought would be better mailed than taking on the plane, it was an emotional loss as well. The second pkg lost was a two-day priority and they lost it AFTER it was scanned as delivered but never was. Manager at Santa Cruz said they were experiencing a lot of package theft. If my package was stolen, the thief entered a gated walkway, entered the porch, then decided to steal our package from the total of three that were just delivered six minutes before recipient's arrival. No package was ever delivered. If you are considering mailing a package that doesn't fit in the mailbox, DON'T us them. Use UPS or FedEx instead. This facility is poorly run by incompetence. read more
