Let's face it, the post office always sucks. But this one was by far THE worst. I made an appt for a passport application for my infant son at noon. Arrived at 11:30 and specifically asked if we could be seen early. The PO worker said "yes" that he was finishing up with another family and he would be done shortly. We had to refill our 30 minute meter TWICE. Only to find out the family waiting before us had an appt at 12:15!!! My husband walked over to inquire about the wait time and they were chatting it up about tattoos!!! I won't even get into the enraged homeless looking man who came in and put his dog on the counter and was not asked to take him down! The service at this location is worse than bad, they deserve negative stars. I'm disappointed with Yelp in these moments when I cannot Read and establishment with zero stars. I'm typically disappointed by post office visits, rarely would I give them more than three stars, however this post office is by far the worst I've been to, and I've visited here multiple times. Today I was confronted by a fellow from South Asia who not only spoke with heavy accent but mumbled, his speech was Im perceptible. He apparently derived great pleasure at denying me services. Simply put he acted like an A--hole. He made no attempt to explain an alternative process that would have allowed me to accomplish my goal. Even though there was literally NO ONE in this post office they " had to go by the rule " and did not see us for an hour. WITH A BABY!! This is the hardest working USPS I've ever been to, which is severely understaffed. They are doing the best they can every day all day long, without breaks I've even notice that times!! I originally moved here from Venice Beach over to Santa Monica in July 2022. I have met the managers, several hard working attendants at the facility & my postal worker who services my buildings route in 90401. I would like to commemorate, personally applaud and THANK the following staff members : Reina, Angel, & Adriana (customer service agents), Manuel (Supervisor) & Tracy (my route carrier) for going above and beyond & by Always doing an epic job & providing amazing service! I could also go so far to tell you, because I go there every day. Check the online map review of traffic flow because it is accurate. If you do not have time to wait, there are certain times of day where there are two associates available to help. This is the only USPS I can get to because I am on foot walking. It's always worth the wait for me. The shortest. Wait time I've ever had has been anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes with the longest wait time being 2 hours. It is always worth the wait, and these people deal with my stress and other people stress, and they deserve a pay raise.! read more

I 100% appreciate each one of these kind workers. They have a hard job and have to deal with people who are in a hurry every day and they treat them with such kindness and patience. When I was at usps my diamond ring fell off and went missing. All the workers were accommodating and diligent in helping me find it. That was so wonderful of them. It wasn't their job to help me but they did it anyway. One of the female workers helped me find my precious ring ! I wish I had gotten her name so I could give her a shout out on here. read more

The way they handle customer service here is attrocious. I've seen a number of employees handle customers rudely, refuse to do simple things like scan packages or help with a claim, they move like molasses and act as though doing their job is more than should be asked of them. But the really infuriating part of this post office is that they refuse to answer their phone, and supervisors are never available to speak with at the branch. So, if you have a package that has gone lost, or been stolen, or never left the post office when you dropped it off there, you are out of luck. No one at this branch will ever help you with any of these issues. I just waited 90 minutes on hold, with the 800 number for usps, only to be told the only way to deal with my case was to call the local station's number, which was the number listed here on yelp, that I have called 5 times today. It rings for 4 minutes and then becomes a fax line. It's criminal. I have packages that they claimed they delivered to my door, which never showed up. And there is no way to contact them about it. I believe they know there's a problem and they have no interest in solving it. read more

I had lost my passport and came here in order to order a new one I don't know if she Selah because then they might see you when you have to do all that to say just got a new passport. I am adept at what a must do and bring to every single event and I was perturbed by the fact that I needed to as it was mandatory that I bring my marriage certificate my birth certificate my Social Security card and of course my drivers license however they all had to be original documents and each and every single document excluding my drivers license is going to be mailed along with my passport photos and paperwork and they say they'll be returned to me with my passport I have never heard of really don't do those requisites before and I am quite nervous about it I have had lots of identity sept us have everybody else and their mother and it really bothers me that an eight weeks I'll receive back my birth certificate Social Security card and marriage certificate all originals and how many people will have taken photos written my information down and put it in their camera roll in order to get a mortgage obtain car loans and God knows whatever but I would strongly advise that you do something else about your passport if you need to do something about it at all. read more

Very unprofessional employees! Very rude, unhelpful, and disrespectful. I went there to renew my passport 13 weeks ago and the state gov is saying they didn't receive it and that it's most likely the post office misplaced it. The Santa Monica post office is not being transparent and they do not want to tell me when they delivered it or where. As of now, I have travel coming up and I don't have my passport, brith certificate, or citizenship certificate. I honestly question how these employees get hired in the first place. Total Failure by USPS. We filed a Hold Mail Request and received an email confirming that the Santa Monica Post Office would hold our mail while we were away. We returned to find that no mail was held, and our mailbox was stuffed to overflowing with crushed and mangled mail. It's a miracle that our house was not broken into, as the overstuffed mailbox was an advertisement that nobody was at home. A complete failure by Santa Monica USPS. Just hope that you never have an issue with your mail that causes you to visit this post office. I have not been receiving mail over the last month because our mail carrier was scared of a friend's dog that was visiting our home ONE day (mind you, the dog never made it downstairs to where the mail carrier was, he was just barking). Ever since that day, we received two letters about having a dog at the home and instructions to follow in order for our mail to resume. We followed all of the instructions and you would think this would be a fairly easy process considering we don't have a dog but one month later we are still dealing with this issue. We have visited this post office on 5 separate occasions, only to deal with rude, incompetent and unhelpful staff. We're constantly told that we need to talk to Mario Mendoza (who is never there), or our mail carrier. When I've talked to the mail carrier, she tells me it is out of her hands and we need to speak with the post office. The last time we went to the post office to talk to the staff, the girl at the window had the nerve to talk badly about us to other customers after we left. TRUST ME, we don't want to deal with you as much as you don't want to deal with us! I have spent countless hours waiting on hold on the phone and in the post office, it is appalling that they are able to withhold mail like this. I would easily give zero stars if I could. read more

The females that work here apparently poop roses as they score a zero on the likability scale and mock people as they leave. Unbelievable. Great experience! Street parking makes it easy to pull up, drop off and leave. Specifically Atul who helped me was amazing. Very knowledgeable and was proactive in helping me ship my package. ***Disclaimer*** I actually give them ZERO stars !!!!! This is the WORST post office. An older man asked me what I needed I specifically told him I needed to overnight my package to Colorado. He said okay and said I needed to ship my package in one and went to the back to get be a box. Upon packing it he began to help me tape it. He asked me what what is the package and I told him food so please be careful and asked him if he would add a fragile label so that it was maintained nicely. He stamped it all over with "fragile" stamps and then proceeded to completely flip the entire package upside down!!! I was like excuse me, don't do that please turn the package back because it's fragile. He said who cares it doesn't matter. I was like of course it matters I just told you that it's extremely fragile. He rolled his eyes at me and left to go help someone else. I was so upset, but I kept having compassion since with everything that's happening with Trump they aren't doing so well. I finished packing up my box and let him know and he told me to get back in line to the end of the line. Wow. Great! I did it anyways without complaining because at this point I wanted someone else to help me. When I got called next in line by this other lady working, she asked me if I got the box there I said yes and she proceeded to ask me where it was going. I told her and I also asked her if she would please be careful because it was fragile and the other guy had already flipped it upside down. She said she had to scan it and flipped it and I said omg fine! But please hurry because it's not good for the food to be upside down. At this point another worker comes over and he asks what the issue is I let him know and he lets me know that it doesn't matter, picks up the box and begins to shake it and turn it upside down and says see that's how they are going to treat it. I was like WTH is wrong with you people? And I said please stop, fine, but don't add to the damage. He kept trying to argue with me about it and I told him to stop that I really didn't want to talk to him because they were all so rude. The guy walks away laughing with the other guy and the lady in front of me apologized. She goes on to charge me and says we can have it there Monday. And I was like what! No I specifically said I needed to overnight this. The lady says sorry we can't. And I was like why didn't you guys tell me this from the beginning? She was like I don't know? And I was like ugh, FINE I will take my box and go to FedEx. Then she has the audacity to say I have to pay for their box. When they couldn't even ship it!! I was like I will leave the box because I can't use it at FedEx and she was like no you have to pay for it. I was like wow, I'm over all of you so I said fine how much is it? And she says 5$. I was like omg wow for the complete lack of customer service you are providing and you're still fighting me for $5 dollars?! I gave her the money and the manager runs out saying did you make her pay for it??? And i was like haha wow yes I already paid your $5!!! DO NOT SHIP THROUGH THIS LOCATION. I go to this location 3 to 6 days a week. I always find them to be super courteous & willing to go out of their way to be helpful. On the other hand I have seen some customers, a couple who have threatened to give bad reviews on yelp, who are simply not willing to follow the rules. For instance, If you don't have everything filled out before you are at the window it is not unreasonable for a postal clerk to ask the person to to fill the forms out first so they can take care of the customers on line who are already, ready. read more

Picking up packages here is a nightmare. I've sometimes had to wait over 20 minutes and not even gotten the package and sometimes I hear that people in front of me have been here for over an hour. This is at the will call window around 11:30am. I've once come to get a package in the afternoon around 3:30pm when the will call window is closed and that went relatively smoothly. After receiving the delivery notice in my mailbox instead of my Coachella tickets, my heart sank. I dealt with the 5th Street USPS last year that lost a very valuable package, and I was instantly having flashbacks. However, my experience at this location was different than fellow Yelpers. Yes, I had difficulty finding the entrance, but spoke to a sweet-yet-straightforward lady at the counter who said she didn't have the package. Instant dread set in, and I was ready to give a monotonous 2 or 1 star review, but she then gave me Wanda's (the supervisor) number to contact the next morning and she'll be able to organize everything for me ahead of time. Fast forward to today, I call Wanda, and she was nice as can be. She located the tickets, and laughed asking what they are cause they are getting a lot of calls about similar packages. Yes, it's an ugly post office. Yes, it's set up poorly. Yes, you will wait in line. But honestly I have never had a problem. The workers are efficient. Everything I've sent always arrives (even pre-labeled boxes I just drop on the counter). Somewhat annoying, but even the passport services have been just fine.
