I could not be happier. There was a little glitch on their end in the initial pricing, and in the ordering itself (neither of which is worth getting into detail on), but US Window straightened out both things very fairly in my favor, and they honored their prices. The installation itself went as smooth as butter, and Travis, the installer, and his crew were top notch. Special thanks to Martin as well who takes a personal interest in his customers. (No one gets 5 stars unless I've used two companies for the same type of work) We recently had US Window & Door replace both windows and a patio door on our home - the old single panes were obsolete and neither weather tight nor energy efficient. The project went smoothly and some minor installation issues were promptly corrected by the installation crew (employees, not subcontractors, which was important to me). The owner, Martin, did a personal inspection at the end and was interested in both the positives and negatives of our experience. Now we have a much quieter house and hope to be saving on our energy costs! Probably the best comment is that we are repeat customers from about four years ago. US Window isn't the only Milgard dealer in the area so it should say something that we chose to have them do a second round. read more

We were in the market to replace substantially all the windows in our home. Our salesperson was very knowledgeable, worked with us to identify the best solution for our needs and provided us with multiple options. Each installation, done over a period of about one year, was smooth and quick. The issues started after the installation. The check rail of one of the windows was in our dining room was bent. We didn't notice that until after the initial inspection, so we took responsibility for that. During the walkthrough, there was a window in kitchen that did not close unless you put exactly the right amount of pressure on both sides when closing it. Martin, the owner, said that was normal and there was nothing they could do about it. We thought that response was interesting, but opted not to make a further issue of it. The bigger issue began soon after our last installation and walkthrough. In February of 2018, we had a series of rain and thunder storms. The wind was very strong. One night, we were awoken by a rattling sound coming from our newly-installed bedroom window that continued though most of the night, making it difficult to sleep. After that evening, we reported the issue to US Window. They sent Tim to take a look at it. When he arrived, he seemed like he was in a hurry and put out to be there. Then, he looked at the window and told us there was basically nothing they could do about it. The only thing he offered to do was ask Milgard, the manufacturer, to get in touch with us. At this point, we had new windows and we were not expecting to have issues right away. We also expected US Window to continue to do a good job and help us. Instead, they showed no interest in trying to diagnose the problem and figure out a solution. Further, they could have helped us as the installer and as our expert when we communicated with Milgard, but they seemed more interested in moving to the next job and collecting money from someone else at that point. Milgard did come out and said they did not see an issue with the window. At that point, we decided to make the best of it, especially since the rattling only seemed to happen when the wind blew a certain way and at a certain strength. Moving forward, in February 2019, we had a similar storm. Once again, the window began to rattle again and continue intermittently for the rest of the evening and into the next day. In addition, we saw a slight pooling of water at the bottom of the window, which had not happened before. We contacted US Window again, suggesting that the rattling window might be loose in the sash, which would explain the rattling and the water leakage. Their answer was basically that all that was normal, but that they could forward us to Milgard for further disposition. They could have tried to investigate and get an idea if our hypothesis was correct, but they could not be bothered. We now have an appointment with Milgard and hopefully we can get this issue fixed. Bottom line, despite the great performance during installation, I would not do business with US Window again. I want a vendor and partner who truly cares about their work, will stand behind it and will work with me to get to fix any issues. US Window will not do that. read more

Note that my review is not related to the work performed or quality of the product as we never got to that point (unfortunately). US Windows and Doors were recommended to me by my colleague. She was extremely happy with them and spoke highly. We did a lot of research and requested quotes for multiple companies and US Windows and Doors were far the best in price and also responsiveness from representative Mark. We live in the Condo that requires HOA approval. Our window specs from HOA does not allow retrofit windows. Mark was convinced that there is no reason to perform full construction so he volunteer to come to our HOA meetings to discuss, he even went and talked to architect from the company Summit that our HOA works with, but he had no luck in convincing him that retrofit widows are OK. Even though architect was pushing for full constraction, our HOA agreed to approve as long as we find certified consultant that can justify that retrofit windows are compatible with our building. Mark offered to talk to certified people from Milgard as well as US Windows and Doors and to try to find solution. After 2 weeks, our HOA and myself were trying to contact him to see the outcome, but no luck. He completely ignored our calls and emails. After couple months, I decided to call him from my work phone that he would not recognize and sure enough he answered. When I introduced myself his response was "Oh hello" very surprised. When I asked him why he is not calling back his response was "I got irritated and decided not to do anything" and all he had to do was to call or email back saying that he has given up. There was absolutely no reason to ignore us. Given the fact that we could not find solution after year and a half, we decided to do full construction and not to fight for approval of retrofit windows. I contacted US Windows and Doors again and requested different sales person. They asked me why and I explained above. They sent out John 2 days later who barely showed interested in measuring our windows looking into the details - it could be seen from far away that he was not interested. Nevertheless, he promised to sent us a quote on Monday (28 August). Today (August 29), he called my cell phone and said following: I would like to let you know that given the information and situation we will pass on this job. At least I wasn't ignoring you and gave you information in person. These were his exact words.... Very disappointing and glad I have not dealt with this company. read more

I had another Carlsbad based Milgard authorized contractor look at a bay window in my home office. They gave me a quote, took measurements, came back again for more measurements and pictures, said they could do it, came back again for more pictures and went silent on me altogether. US Window and Door came out, looked at the same project, said they could do it, gave me several great suggestions on how to do things better based on their deep product knowledge and then performed the work for the same or less cost as the first contractor. As a real estate developer I've dealt with hundreds of contractors and subcontractors. I wish they were all as easy to work with as US Window & Door. read more

I used US Window and Door again to install Milgard windows on the remaining windows in my house. They did a wonderful job again. I replaced large picture windows with sliding windows that opened in order to give good cross ventilation. What a difference this has made in cooling off the house in the evenings. I wish I hadn't waited so long to do my windows. I was concerned initially that the windows could not be installed without damaging the stucco. They assured me that this would not happen. I do not like writing poor reviews. While most of the issues are with Milgard, the makers of the the doors and windows they sell, they are responsible for the installation of the products. Bottom line it is over 60 days since installation and one of my doors does not lock. Not sure if anyone else has a problem with their door and house being left insecure for over 60 days but I am not happy. Frankly the resolution to getting the last door locked and replacing another window which was defective is still 30 days off. 90 days with a door that does not lock is not what I expected. Sent note to President at US Windows no reply. I did get a note for my final payment however. Nice people, not super organized. Do not take ownership with Milgard, I am left to handle directly even though the install is not complete. read more

I've replaced windows before and I wanted to give Milgard the chance to become a repeat performer. Glad I did. The quote was not only competitive but thoroughly professional. My homeowner association (had to run paperwork and insurance through the HOA for a condo) said it was the first time a proposal for window replacement had gone through and signed off on the first try. The proposal had the detail and the office staff made sure I had everything I needed to get it through my process. I was kept in the loop as my order became available and then ready for installation. I had U S Windows replace 12 windows and 10 small widows that were very hard to go to, and they did a fantastic job. Eric, Sisco and Carlo were on the job and they were efficient as well as gentlemen. They cleaned up after them selves so well I did not have to do any cleaning up. I live right on 15 Highway, so the noise was terrible - NOW my condo is quiet! I can even wear my hearing aids in the condo, Yeah!!!!! My first introduction to US Windows and doors was my salesperson. I told him the only reason I was getting new windows was to block out the noise from the community pool. He told me "they could have a party down there and you won't hear a thing". He then measured all my windows. Took one week to get my bid. I emailed him several times and he finally told me he had been moving. When the owner, Martin, came out to check the measurements, he realized my salesperson had neglected to order tempered glass above the bathtub which is required by law. Interesting my salesperson didn't know that. The installers came out and installed my windows. I asked them at the time if I had tempered glass above the tub. They looked at the glass and told me no. After they left I noticed a 4" tear in the bottom of my screen for my slider in the bedroom. Just large enough for my indoor cats to get out. So in order for me to open the slider, I had to get the screen repaired immediately. It cost me $75.00 I was told by US Windows and Doors it was now my responsibility to call Millgard directly and set up the appointment for the tempered glass to be installed. They only come to Vista once a week and they give you a two hour window for your appt. I set a Saturday aside for my appt. When the Milgard installer came out he looked at my window and said it was tempered glass. He showed me where it was stamped right on the glass in two places. US Windows and doors installers must be new, he said. He then noticed the large scratch on the lock on the window. Most likely from installation he said, and he changed the lock for me. I was told Martin, the owner, comes out after installation to check everything out. It will be one week this Saturday and no one has called me to set up an appt. No one has addressed the hole in my screen either after I emailed them. Oh, and I can still hear lots of pool noise. Salesperson was very wrong. It's better, but so not what he said it would be. I love my Millgard windows. They make a beautiful product with an amazing warranty. I will never use US Windows and Doors again. ever. I am amazed they have received so many good reviews. Called US Window-Door to replace some doors and a skylight. The whole consultation experience seemed rushed. Along with a Milgard web link, I was told I'd be shown different brochures in order to help me pick my doors. I was not. Tom, while nice, didn't even ask what kind of French doors (vinyl, wood, etc...) I wanted or gave me an idea as to cost or options. Again, rushed. His whole demeanor seemed rushed. Like he needed to be someplace else. He said he'd text me as soon as he got to his car so I could send him two pics I showed him. He never did. It's been a week and I never received an estimate. My take is that they didn't care for my business. Which is fine, but why waste my time? read more

My experience with US Window & Door- I ordered a double front door with sidelites that USWD admitted to ordering incorrectly. The color on the inside was to be different from the outside. It came with the inside matching the outside. This was not noticed until the installation had started. Since my old door had been removed, Mr. Whitmore convinced me to complete the installation and the problem would be remedied later. His remedy turned out to be: remove the door assembly, transport to their painter, apply 3-4 coats of primer and paint, transport back and reinstall. This would give me precisely what I paid $731.00 to avoid, a highly painted look. I requested the door be reordered as contracted. Before work was even completed, I received a collection letter from their lawyer for the final balance due. What started out as an admitted 'Administrative Error', was now transformed into a 'Defective Workmanship Error'. The lawyer cited Item 12 in the USWD contract: 'Sellers sole liability is to replace or refund the money paid for such items Such as grids, argon, etc. in the event they are not included in the products delivered, at its discretion.' According to the lawyer, this meant that since I rejected the USWD solution of uninstall, paint over, and reinstall, all USWD was required to do was refund the $731.00. I finally accepted the front door assembly as installed and the refund rather than incur further damage to the doors. They came out to complete the installation. Initially, the hardware on the utility door that I also ordered was installed upside down. When reinstalled, they broke a piece that had to be ordered to complete. When I started my research for a contractor to replace my doors, USWD advertised on their web site that they took credit cards, yet when they wrote up the contract it was written for cash. The salesman's business card indicated they were members of the BBB. They are not. Dealing with this company has not been a pleasant experience for me. read more

The point I was trying to make is that US WINDOW & DOOR rushed to charge my American Express 50% of the total cost before the final measurement was done. I made sure to cancel the order (for whatever compelling reason I had then) before the merchant incurred any loss or placed the order at the factory. Merchant should be careful how to proceed and attempt not to trick customers into paying large deposit thus, putting itself in a leverage and dictate on us to keep a good chunk of our deposit. Consumers should always have the right to cancel out an order if they feel they were treated dishonestly. read more

I have been purchasing replacement windows a little over a year for my two story home, instead of paying one lump sum I would save and purchase a few at a time to avoid any extra charges. I started with Lowe's used them one time then went to Home Depot they weren't bad until I got a new salesman and he informed me all the sizes were the same price, so I searched on Yelp for windows and came across US W&D. What a HUGE difference from pricing to customer service to the quality of the windows, they use Milgard which is extremely superior to the box stores and at lower price than the inferior products. It's almost impossible to find people who do the right thing no matter what -- even if it costs them money. Great experience! Our wood sided Victorian house in San Clemente needed new windows. Martin came out 4 or 5 times to measure and his hard work payed off. The installation was trouble free and everything fit perfectly. The framing on the house was in good condition, so we opted for "pocket" replacement with Kolby Ultra Series. 22 double hung, 4 push out casement, 2 new installation casement, new installation double french and single french doors.
