All my parents windows were shot multiple times with a pellet gun. I hired them to board up broken windows brcause my parents live close.to the sidewalk. They boarded one window when 5 were shot. Called because I had an emergency where my window is about to fall off the hinge and come crashing down from the second floor of my house. The woman who took my information was very nice and told me a tech would call. Tech calls and says "my guys are done for the night. We've been out in the rain all day". I'm not sure why I even got a call back if he was going to tell me that. Don't bother trying to use them if you have an emergency because clearly their 24 hour emergency service isn't actually 24 hours, nor did he seem to think my situation was an emergency. I used USA for the 1) Emergency Board Up and 2) Permanent Door Order & Installation. The board up was quick. The permanent door has been a nightmare. The Good: Very Quick Response Time. They responded to a building door "board up" in less than 90 minutes when called in around 4AM. The Bad: Sloppy with board up job, but we can live with it. The permanent door has been a challenge for USA to get right. The contractors showed at the wrong address. When finally made it to right address, they were confused about the job and no paper trail of my deposit or a reference number. The said we had to wait 2 weeks for a standard Chicago building door - evidently special order yet every 3 flat condo in Chicago has the same door. We opted to wait. I've called their office three times in the 7 business days to check status and no one knows anything -- unsure about order, deposit, turnaround time, installation, etc. After I explain the whole situation to a new person each time (without any invoice, reference or tracking numbers), they say "she's on the phone and will call you right back". That call never comes. I'm still waiting and would love to change this review to positive. UPDATE: THEY COMPLETELY LOST MY ORDER. After 8 business days and 7 follow up calls the company let me know they lost my order. My contact was Donna. I let her know I wanted to come to the office and compare paperwork. She said no. Professional call center without the "good bones" supporting behind the scenes operations. I was very happy to get a same day phone quote and next business day scheduled appointment to fix a leaky window in my town home. I was told the crew would call me at 8am the day of the appointment to provide an ETA. After 10am and no call, I started calling the center for updates every ~hour. Great call staff, but I did not see action taken on my requests until multiple callbacks on my end. I waited at home (took day off work) not knowing when I had to be available to let the crew in. I finally found out at noon they would come at 1:30. At 1:45, I was informed they would be "a few more hours" due to a higher priority job that came up. The crew finally came at 5 and were not able to fix my window since they did not bring a 2 story ladder. An explicit request to bring a 2 story ladder was in my written quote request and I verbally confirmed the crew would have a ladder when scheduling the appointment with the foreman on the phone. Suffice to say, pretty frustrated I burned an entire day and was not able to get the issue fixed due to break downs in the company's communication processes. read more

I'm done with USA B&G! I continue to demand my deposit back to cover the cost of cooling a home with a hole in it! I probably will never hear back from them, but If you read this, go with someone else! The loss of business to this company because of my negative experience will far outweigh the measly $144.50 they took from me! On June 17th, I called USA B&G to fix my window. They had a guy out to board up and measure it within a few hours. He took some measurements of the window, and said I should expect a follow-up call before the end of the day or on Monday to quote me the cost of the replacement. That call never came. The following week, on Friday June 24, I called USA B&G to inquire about the status of my project. They had no record that I was actually supposed to be getting a window replacement. So they set it up then, and took my deposit of $144.50, and said it would take about 2 weeks. 2 More weeks. They didn't tell me that another guy would be coming out to measure my window again, and he came out the following Tues or Wed (June 28 or 29) with no warning other than a 20 min call out. Then I waited. On July 21 (more than a month later) my project still was not complete. Not only that, but after playing phone tag with them for almost a week to learn the status of my project, I learned that the glass for my window is not even in the USA B&G warehouse, and that they would have to send someone to measure my window again! I am way past annoyed. USA B&G's mismanagement of this project means that I have a hole the size of a window in my home during the hottest period of the year. This means it is costing me extra money to keep my home cool. I expected this project to take 2 weeks, but I am now coming up on 5 weeks. And my window glass is not even in the warehouse?!? Because of their gross mismanagement of my project, I demanded my deposit be returned, but have heard nothing back from them in 3 business days. So basically, I paid them $144.50 to provide me no service! If you're in Chicago, go with All-American Glass Co.! They came out yesterday to take measurements, I told them about my experience with USA B&G and that it had been 5 weeks, and they put a rush on the glass. Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a company. Noah, same person who posted the only 5 star review, came to my home for an estimate on replacing 5 windows. He made up an "estimate charge" after the estimate was completed and wouldn't stop the charge unless the work was performed. (I should have kicked him out of my home) Instead we put a deposit down to have the windows ordered. The next day Donna, business manager as well as his mother, calls and lets me know he has a drug problem and the check should never be made out to him (damage already done at this point). At her request we file a police report against Noah for deceptive practice and fraud. We attempt to work things out with his mother/business parntner and schedule to have the windows installed exlduding Noah from the equation. Installation day comes and the windows ordered were the wrong size. Both parties agree to order the correct size and basically "try again". One week later, the son is calling us telling us those windows can "work" and they will loose money by ordering new windows. Now Donna is avoiding our calls and Noh is trying explain why it is okay to install the incorrect size windows! Additional information I gathered after the fact: Noah has prior charges for both Burglary and Theft. If that isn't enough, there is at least one other person whom he convinced to write a window deposit check for over $4,000. RUN, RUN, RUN! As a business owner myself, work with many companies. Most interactions are pleasant and positive. Unfortunately, I cannot say this about USA Board Up & Glass Company, its owner Chris or any other employee of the company. Red flags were popping up from the very beginning, but I ignored them at my own peril. I own a roofing company. My crew was working on a roof and accidentally broke a glass in our client's four seasons sunroom. Accidents happen and we wanted to have this fixed as soon as possible. I ordered a tempered glass via USA Board Up & Glass Company. It took almost two weeks for them to ship the glass, but it's understandable. The ordering also involved me paying a $225 deposit, which I did. The entire job was estimated to cost $449. The first red flag was the payment method. They simply took a picture of my credit card for the payment, which is odd and not secure, to say the least. I let it slide, though. I have a soft spot for small businesses and I know they sometimes tend to operate in unorthodox ways. Then the fun part started. They sent a person who was supposed to install the glass. The employee simply was not capable of performing this task. He huffed and puffed and complained and then left abruptly promising to come back later. The next day I was told they'd be sending someone else. The person at the office told me flat out that the guy who failed miserably the other day steals business from the company and pockets the money he makes on the side; so they let him go. Unfortunately, all the other employees they sent, even if they were not the stealing kind, were as incompetent as the first one. Over the 4 visits or so, they were not able to install one glass. The homeowners contacted me and asked me to find another company, because they simply couldn't stand to be windowless any longer, as well as babysit incompetent "pros" at the USA Board Up & Glass Company over and over again. I contacted the owner Chris, explained the situation and politely asked to refund my deposit. He refused, even though he acknowledged that his employees were not competent enough. However, he offered me a solution: subcontract another company who would be able to do the job for some $900 instead of initial $449! I declined the offer and asked for my deposit back once again. When Chris refused to make the refund, I contacted him for the last time and explained that I have no choice but to leave a negative review on Yelp and report his company to the Better Business Bureau. He told me he did not care about such things and hung up on me... This company is so unprofessional. Our company's front door shattered, I tried Lake County Class they were not be able to come out for a week. So I called the USA Board up and Glass they sent someone out to board up the window in a few hours. They measured the window the next day. That was July 29. I did not get the window installed until today August 28. When I would call to speak with the window dept., she would not take my calls and I would have to speak with someone from a different department. When the window was finally installed, it had a scratch and there was a gap between the window and the base. The installer said we just needed silicone, finally they straightened the window and it fit properly. However, they were very rude. The window had all kinds of finger prints when they were done. I absolutely cannot recommend this company to anyone in need of window glass replacement. They quoted me false/incorrect order-to-installation times, they measured the windows wrong, their "RUSH" order to fix the measuring error is actually taking longer than a regular order, I've been repeatedly promised call backs that never happen and over a month later and multiple phone inquiries, the job is still not complete. At the time of this posting, I still have no resolution. I needed the glass in two windows replaced. After the sent someone out to measure, I was quoted $596 total, with half paid up front. I was told it would take 7-10 days for the glass to arrive and then they would install in a day or two. On 6/2/16 I paid the deposit and the glass was ordered. Two weeks later I was called and told that they would set up an install for over a week away--not a "day or two" as I was told. When I inquired as to why I was told one thing and experiencing another, I was given the response: "Well, we are a lot busier now then when we ordered your glass." This didn't make sense to me; it would seem that glass orders should correspond fairly predictably to the installations they are being ordered for. Other than expressing my dissatisfaction at the communication I'd received, there was nothing I could do at that point. Installation day, 6/22, finally arrived and the installers learned that half of the glass had been measured incorrectly. They were only able to install one of the two windows. When I called the office, I received an apology, but there was nothing they could do to fix the problem at that time. I was told there would be a "rush" put on the revised glass order and they would have their installers out asap once it arrived. I should have asked how much faster "rush" was than "normal" speed. On the morning of 6/28, I hadn't heard anything, so I called to find out the status of the install and was told the glass would be in "next week." I indicated that this timeframe was not acceptable. The receptionist promised me a call back from the person who handles the glass. At 4pm on Thursday 6/29, I still had not received that call back. So, I called them again and I and expressed my deep frustration at this poor customer service in addition to terrible performance as a company. The person who handles the glass had already left for the day and I was, again, promised a call back the next day. It did not happen. Today is July 5. I called this morning at 9am to inquire again about the installation status. I had to repeat my name and my address. I was informed that the "glass is not here, but it *should* arrive on the truck today." I was repeatedly PROMISED a call back at noon to verify that the glass indeed had arrived on the truck. Do not use this company to replace your windows. I called to have an upstairs window replaced. They told me that it would be cleaned up and replaced with in the week. After the clean up and measuring for a new one, the guys basically ran out of my house. They left glass everyone after I check what they had all done. Its been 22 days since they were here and no window yet. I have called at least 5 times and they keep telling me the window is ordered and will come as soon as possible. I did not think this request was out of the ordinary and plus their own website provides a link to request one online. Much to my surprise the lady that answered the phone was snarly and rude. I don't know where to start. The glass repair job I was needing was difficult. If it was too difficult, the company should have declined to take on the job. First of all, the technician coming to investigate the job was sent to the south side of Chicago. I live on the North side. I had to call in 3 separate times to get the quote for the job (reasonable, I admit). Scheduled the work for a Friday and the technician was once again sent to the south side of Chicago. Work was rescheduled for the following Monday. Technicians showed up (yay) albeit 3 hours late due to an emergency (with no phone call to me to keep me informed). I had to call to find out where there were. Work was completed, however, incredibly sloppy! I couldn't believe my eyes when I returned back home to see the finished project. Caulk and glue on my tiles floors and walls. New caulk around the glass only applied on some of the seams. Where some caulk was applied,it barely covered the junctions. Completely unacceptable and very disappointing. I have called to disputed and am being told that it was "a very difficult job." My experience with this company started off a little rocky, but they quickly redeemed themselves and became fantastic every step of the way. Their "not usual" board up guy was the one who came to do the board up-which was done well- however, he didn't clean up the glass outside. I called to complain because my family spends a lot of time in the yard, but the girl I spoke with apologized profusely, offered me a discount and she had a different man come out to clean the glass up within 30 minutes. I would give 0 stars if that was an option. I needed a window glass replaced in an upstairs bedroom. My husband googled and found this company. Unfortunately, he did not read yelp or BBB reviews and complaints. I had a very similar experience as all the other negative reviewers. First, they came out to measure and showed up in the early morning even though my appointment was scheduled from 1-4p. The guy said his work order had no time. So he doesn't call? He was peering in my living room window and walking around outside my house. I had no clue who he even was at first. This was the first sign that something was not quite right with this business. But I figured it could have been an honest mistake and after getting a quote for the replacement glass, I called the next morning to give my 1/2 deposit as instructed. I was told 7-10 business days for the glass to come in as others here have said. I called to follow up a week later and was told my glass was being picked up at that moment and they would call for install. They never called. I had to call and was told it wasn't there. They said they'd rush it overnight and call when it got there. They never called. I called again and was told it was there-this is now 2 1/2 weeks since ordering-and Donna set up the appointment for install. At least that's what she said. I waited at home for my 3 hour time frame and no one showed. I even called to check if I was on the schedule and the emergency after hours service took my name and number and said the installer would call. I waited and waited and got no call and he never came. I called Donna the next morning. OOPS! She forgot to put me in the schedule because she was busy. She barely spit out an insincere apology and offered to schedule me for the next day or next week. Frankly, buy then I was not feeling very confident that they would show at all and wasn't into wasting more of my time. I asked to cancel the order and was told that her boss does not refund custom order deposits. I guess that is true even if they had mishandled the order from the beginning, lied about when the glass would be in, and had me waiting around for an installer that Donna never scheduled. I said I would dispute the charge with my credit card. Donna confidently explained that whenever they have clients that do that, her boss/company "wins 99.9% of the time." Wow! I guess this happens a lot with them. It was like she was challenging me. When I told her I worked in customer service with face to face clients and taking numerous phone calls each day and that this was terrible customer service, Donna nastily told me that there was "no way" I worked in customer service. She said this over and over again. She clearly likes to argue with the clients. I had to hang up because she was so belligerent and not worth my breath. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and scheduled another glass company to come out, but my husband did not want to wait if he didn't have to. He called Donna and said if someone wasn't at our house with the glass that day, we would proceed with another company. Lo and behold, the installers came out and put in the glass. I personally would have rather waited and given my money to a reputable company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are disorganized and discourteous. They never follow up and call even when they promise to over and over. No one should have to go through all this for a service they are paying for. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!! Much like the other reviewers, I had many of the same problems with this company. My patio door was struck by lightening and needed to be replaced. I called USA Board Up and arranged for someone to come out to measure. The guys showed up on Saturday and measured the door and told me someone would be in contact within the next couple of days with the price. Never got a follow up call for the price. I finally got ahold of Donna a few days later who gave me the price and asked if I would like to order. I wish they would have called as promised. Regardless, I place the order and was told by Donna that it would take five days and they would call when its ready. AGAIN, no call. Day 7, I call to inquire on the status of the door, Donna tells me it arrived the day after the order was placed. Great! (Again, wish you would have called to let me know). I setup the appointment, no Saturday appointments available because "the guys don't want to work this weekend," so I go with Friday between 12-4. I make arrangements at my office and work from home for the day. 3:30 rolls around on Friday and no call or repairman yet... I call Donna again, she promises I'm on the list and they will show up. 5pm rolls around. I call the 24 hour line now that the office is closed. They tell me I'm on the list, someone will call me. No call. 7pm still no repair guys, so I call the emergency line, "your on the list, they will call soon." NO CALL! 8:30 rolls around and I finally get ahold of a supervisor, success! Chris, the supervisor/Owner tells me "this is bullsh*t" and that the guys "blew off the job". Great, I just wasted an entire day! He promises they will make it up and will be out first thing in the morning at 9am on Saturday. "But wait I thought they weren't working Saturdays?" He assures me they are, 9am sharp. SATURDAY- 10am rolls around, no call, no show. Call the emergency line, they page the guys. 12pm rolls around, call the emergency line, they page the guy. Still no show, no call. I give up! I call Donna on Monday to cancel my order as I'm so fed up by now. She tells me that they blew off the job and wants to make it up to me, "can we come out tonight?" Fine, I like to give people second/third chances (shame on me). We set the time for 6:30 on the dot! Monday night- 7:15 rolls around and someone finally arrives! Success, there going to fix the door! All we had to do was call and schedule the appointment...seems easy, right? We had our appointment scheduled for September 6th, 2014. They told us they would be here between 8 and noon. I woke up at 7:30, showered and waited. At 12:30, i called the company and the nice lady told me the guy was running late and should be there shortly. At 3:00 I called again and this time a gentleman answered and seemed annoyed that the guy was so late. He told me he would get ahold of him and call me back. At 3:30 I had to call back again because no one called back and then the gentleman seemed annoyed with me. He said the service man would be here within the hour. He finally showed up at 5:00. He told me his manager sent him somewhere far away (that was not on his list) to fix a window that would only take a couple minutes. It ended up taking him 4 hours. The service man looked at my window and said it would only take 20 minutes. It took an hour. At 6 o'clock he told me he had one more job and then he could go home. Avoid this company if at all possible! I contacted this company to repair my kitchen window in the mid of last Dec. With the branch in Lyons, IL (708 777 1482). After the measurement was done on 12/16/2916 by an technician, I was told 'the girl at the office will give me call about the quote'. The expected phone call never arrived. I had to call next week on 12/22/2016 for the quote and have them the cc number for them to order the window. Then I did not hear from them until wed， Jan 11, 2017, with a message left on my phone asking me to call back. I thought it was about the installation. I Called back the same day and was asked to speak with Donna. I spoke with Dona on Fri, Jan 13 and was told the window was not ordered she asked for cc number again. I asked them to check under my address and phone number, she was sure it was not ordered. I refused to give the cc number. Due to the fact that the window was not ordered after more than 20 days, I decided to go with a different company (Glass Doctor) and ordered the window 01/17/2017. However, when I saw my cc bill on 1/17/2017, I was actually already charged on 12/22/2016 for the down payment to order the window. I immediately call them that they must credit me back the charge and they hanged up on me. However, that was not the end of the story. The next day, a lady called me with the news that they miraculously found my window! And they claimed that they would never call me because my window was not ordered and would only inform their customer when the window is ready, and insist that they made no mistake. When I tried to work out a deal with them, they rudely refuse. Clearly, it's a company that is very sloppy in management and low in ethics. Really Bad company to deal with, called in and they tell me that they will not send someone to my home unless I say that I am going with them for my picture frame window. I say yes and they send someone to board up my window and don't say that it's 400 dollars to do it. That's not the worst part about it, they send someone to measure my window and they order the glass and three weeks later they send someone out and the glass is not the right size. The owner Chris I believe is a piece of work because with all of this going on he doesn't say you know we messed up so I will discount you something and thinks that I am going to stick around and see them mess up again. Worst customer service ever!!! I called to make an appointment for a broken window repair on a Thursday, The girl answering the phone said a technician would be out on Friday between 9-10 am. I waited until 11 and called. Three more calls later and still no one called or showed up. When I called on Monday morning to find out what happened the girl who answered the phone said it wasn't her fault. Really?!?! Then she offered to get a technician out in a few days because "they are just so busy"! Well they can be one less customer busy. Called Gerry's Glass & Window repair in Naperville & he came out 2 hours later, measured, quoted & got the job. Take note USA Board Up......and get someone who is more professional and less sophomoric to answer your business phone. read more

Billing department in the company is just horrible. Company charges the credit card upon the placement of the order. This is fine, but than they are charging for the SAME THING again upon the installation! They double charged me twice, and it took a lot of explanations and back and forth conversations for them to correct their mistake. Second double charging is still not resolved 3 days after the problem was reported. read more

I would give zero starts if it was an option....but unfortunately it will not let me. I called them to get a quote on 7/7/17 to get a quote on my side lite that was broken and couldn't secure my house. That day they came out to do measurements and took payment for the glass as they had to order it. They quoted me 5-7 day's for the glass. On day 10 I called and left a message and got no call back. On day 11 I called left a message and got no call back. Day 12 someone finally called me back and said the glass wasn't in yet. Today is day 31 and I still have no glass and a broken sidelite. I just tried calling them again today to inquire about the glass. The manager who was very rude said......and just wanted to "call me back" said they "tried calling me once on the 24th...but my phone wasnt working" When i went back and checked my phone records I received 10 other phone calls that day just fine....but for some reason they couldn't get through....and never attempted to call again. When I asked her why they didn't attempt to call a second time she rudely said "we dont make multiple phone calls". If you read through all the other reviews they talk about lack of follow up. Guess I should have read the reviews first. When I asked them to just refund my money and keep the glass they refused to. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS....HORRIBLE SERVICE AND OVER PRICED. read more

I would not recommend this company. I called them to fix a window two weeks before the Memorial Day weekend to fix a window that was sliding down. Someone showed up on Tuesday, May 20th, took a part from my window and charged me a deposit. That was the last I heard from them in terms of contact from the company. I called every two to three weeks until finally in JULY I spoke to someone in the office who told me that the person who took my part was fired. They didn't have my window part, and would have to send another person out to look at my window to determine what part was needed. At this point I had no choice, I had no window part or my deposit. Another repairman came out and told me that he'd order the part and one additional and be out the following Friday to install it. That Friday came, and I called the office to see if he was coming and was told, no it wasn't scheduled. They'd call me and let me know when the part was in. At that time I asked them what the balance of the job would be and they said due to my experience, "it was fine". I assumed that meant that the whole thing was covered under the balance that I paid. The following Friday I get a call from the technician who showed up at my house who installed the two parts and then said I owed additional funds $30 OVER the price quoted originally and directly opposite what the office said a week prior. I was told I was "getting a deal" since there was an additional part involved. But here is the kicker. If I had not "gotten a deal" it would have been cheaper to replace the window, which I will still need to do since after they fixed it, it's still broken because of a bent frame. So I pretty much wasted the money they could have told me up front wouldn't fix the window. But as least its no longer dangerous. But when I replace the window I sure as heck will not do it here. read more
