A go to for any fish lover in SW Florida! Nemos was one of the first place suggested when we moved to Ft. Myers, and it absolutely hit the spot. We finally went after grabbing a reservation on Yelp. My husband and I both got the Chilean Sea Bass, which they can prepare GF if you ask. Extra star for being GF friendly! They even had delicious breads for folks with celiac or on a GF diet, and boy was it a treat to have bread. The Chilean Sea Bass was perfectly prepared and melted in our mouths. We have been eating at USS Nemo for over 12 years. After the original owners sold I was hoping nothing would change. They were amazing!!!! Well..... the food was still fantastic but the portions of the snapper were half what it has been in the past. We had a partition separating us from the couple next to us but we were still on top of them. Very uncomfortable. Had a great experience at USS Nemo last night. Been there many times before, but previously expressed some concern about the place slipping. But either my concerns were misplaced or it's back --and better than ever. We had Calamari and Cervice (shown below) as appetizers, followed by Tuna and Grouper (also below). As others have stated many times, the food at USS Nemo is consistently great. A staple at any restaurant in Naples is Sea Bass with Miso sauce. Nemo does it to perfection. I also had a fish chowder that was so good I will dream about it until I return to Naples in the fall. Sadly, their sake-based cocktails are terrible. 4.5 stars This place doesn't need another good review, but it deserves it. The inside of the restaurant is fun and designed to look like the inside of a submarine. The atmosphere is casual. There is a free appetizer with the warm bread, consisting of hummus, marinated veggies, and seaweed salad. Delicious if somewhat unique combination! We also tried their "taste of Nemo" with three signature tacos- tuna, crab, and salmon sashimi. Not a huge fan of the wanton shell which was hard to share. This was probably the weakest dish of the night. We had their signature miso seabass and swordfish cioppino. The seabass was "melt in your mouth" good, not too salty, and lying on a bed of mashed potatoes (you can choose rice too). My dinner companion ended up eating half of my dish because it was that good. The cioppino was delicious as well. It had a very rich tomatoey broth,perfect for dipping bread in, and the swordfish was very well seasoned. I appreciate that the broth was richer than what I've had at other restaurants. Probably could've used more shellfish as it only came with two small clams. Assorted steamed veggies- mushrooms, asparagus, carrots, and bok choy. Steamed and mildly flavored. This restaurant is amazing! A "hole in the wall" location with 5-star food AND service! We started with the Jumbo seared scallops & Pork belly (recommended by our server). The scallops were great, but the pork belly was phenomenal! We followed that with the Miso Sea Bass with Lobster risotto. I can't explain how we loved this dish. Afterward, we decide to have a slice of coconut cream pie. I'm no fan of raw coconut, but the server suggested to have it separated from the pie. Needless to say, HIGHLY recommended for those that may not like the texture of raw coconut. We WILL return! read more

All the reviews? Not sure I agree. They start with a quality piece of fish. Then destroy it with 1990esque sauces. All of the focus on the food gets lost and compromised. It's fish. Less is more. For a visitor, this Is a deceiving restaurant in a strip mall. We called about an hour before and got lucky. We sat a group of 4 at the bar. Service was top notch! This has been probably one of the best seafood restaurants I have eaten at besides the Sardine Factory in Monterey! It was a bit crowded for dinner. Our table was squished in between two other tables and we literally were almost sitting next to each other. We didn't mind though because everyone seemed very friendly. The couple beside us recommended the blackened salmon but they seem to come here all the time. We're just visiting for the night so we wanted to eat at a nice place. We ordered the hot and crunchy grouper for appetizer and it came right when they brought us the bread. It was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend. My husband ordered the blackened geouper and I ordered the seafood cioppino. Both were delicious but I think the grouper was better. It came with jasmine rice and vegetables and just came together perfectly. My ciopppino came in a big bowl and plenty of seafood but the risotto underneath was a little undercooked. My husband said it might cook more since the bowl and soup were pretty hot but it didn't. I like the taste but the risotto ruined it for me. We also ordered the lycheetini amd a manhattan. The lycheetini was too sweet for my taste but the Manhattan I recommend if that's your choice of deink. For dessert, we ordered the key lime cheesecake with raspberry ganache. We took it to go because I was getting lightheaded and too hot in the restaurant. All in all it was a very nice evening meal. Owners were French from Montreal. The food was absolutely excellent. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. Five stars for food and for service. The ambience was not that good though. I have to agree with the almost 500 reviews on Yelp- this place is fantastic! Being a quirky little restaurant decorated like a submarine/ship nestled in an ordinary shopping center you would never guess the food was outstanding by looking at the place, but don't judge a book by its cover! Our entire meal was delicious. For appetizers we had the Yuzu shrimp which were like bang bang shrimp but much better, we also got the grilled octopus. I order grilled octopus everywhere I go so my standards are pretty high but it was good just not the best. For my entree I got Miso Sea Bass with lobster truffle risotto, tempura asparagus and bok choy- AMAZING. Melt in your mouth amazingness. My boyfriend got the Volcano Snapper with the spicy sauce, while it was very good too the sea bass was the clear winner. For dessert we ordered the coconut cream pie because two different waiters recommended it, although other desserts on the menu looked better to me. Visited USS Nemo because of the great reviews and rating. I am not sure it quite lived up to the hype that is portrayed on Yelp. My experience wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't exceptional like many reviews raved. I ordered the Ultimate Miso Sea Bass dish. The Sea Bass itself was delicious. However, it was accompanied by truffled lobster risotto. I didn't taste any truffle and it lacked much taste at all. My parents each ordered the pappardelle shrimp and lobster pasta. Again, not bad but needed more flavor. Service was fair and the atmosphere was ok. It is supposed to be as if you're in a submarine with the little circled windows. Nowhere to stand other than in the parking lot if you don't want to be bumped into every 12 seconds by crazed servers. I gave up on trying to look at the drinks menu after about 5 mins because I legit could not hold it open in front of me while standing [there was not enough room]. Tables are so close together that you may as well be sitting in your neighbor's lap. I typically update my reviews if places get better, and USS Nemo does just that - even past the 5 star rating. They consistently get the sea bass so incredibly succulent with complex flavors every time. We sat at the same table as the last time we were celebrating our anniversary. We felt like VIPs being able to get a panoramic view of the expressions and chatter when people are biting into their meals. Ambiance is impeccable - white linens, porthole windows, dim lights but not the kind where you question if a place is dingy, and it literally transports you away from realizing that it's in a strip mall. Knowing that it's not at an ideal scenic view location, it takes you away from Naples and makes you have a one-of-a-kind experience in the moment and now. As a side note, remember to make a reservation. The place is always packed. Also, don't expect to spread eagle your elbows and knees or find a place for large bags. It can be confining, but not bothersome. Now, onto the star of the review - The miso sea bass. If you are not a fish person and you had to have one fish entree in your entire life, do it now. Go to USS Nemo. It melts like buddah. I don't know how they do it, but it melts in your mouth that I swear Nick, the owner/chef was a chemist. The balance of sweet and citrusy smooth flavor with the crunch of asparagus and tempura to accompany the dish, makes for a varied and pleasurable experience with every bite. Because I don't want to fix what's not broke, it's really hard to deviate away from this menu item. Retreating back to our appetizers, we had a spicy tuna taco as one item, and the pork belly as a second. We had to balance the fresh with the hearty. Wow. The pork belly was amazing. The flavors were so deep and complex, and all the lovely accoutrements worked well together....mushroom, apple, grape, endive...yeah, strange, but strangely great. They knew it was our anniversary, so the waiter came out with a lovely piece of cheesecake. It was so fluffy and light and the lemon zest sang right through. It was a pleasant surprise, and we ended our meal with a great cappuccino. We had the opportunity, just like last, to be greeted by the owner and chef Nicolas. The brief conversation always brings me back home to Canada, with him being from the Quebec area. Even after a busy night, we were truly grateful for him to take the time to say hello for a brief moment. That's just world class service, people. This place gets it, and it's naturally inherent. Everything is beachy blue also, I really liked the design, very Floridian... Wait staff was on point, we were promptly seated and our orders were taken shortly thereafter and since we knew what we wanted this was an easy process... Clearly, I had to get the broiled miso sea bass and it was AMAZING. Totally buttery and just enough miso .. I had it over rice but I know you can get a choice of potato purée.. It was probably the best miso bass I've ever had and I get it often back in NY.. Parents had the shrimp and lobster pappardelle which was so rich tasting and al dente the way pasta should be... Very filling plate.. I would advise sharing.. Also had the scallops with this outtaaaaa the world polenta ugh the whole dish ...the whole place.... the whole experience just really was good.. Flourless chocolate cake was very decadent and velvety in my mouth! And I'm not w fan of coconut but my parents are and they LOVE the coconut cream pie.. I'm confused as to what this place is? Apps: lobster soup; veg tempura, clams mariniere; edamame; - all tasty and diverse Entrée: "west" (that means pepper corned) tuna- perfect - with perfect veg; branzino; miso salmon (their specialty is miso sea bass) that name doesn't tell how great it was ! truly special and gen tso chicken ; duck tacos. My last review for this place was over two years ago. This week we've been there twice and it is still fabulous. This is one of my two favorite restaurants for lunch in Naples. My big problem is that my other favorite Cafe Normandie is right across the street! Such a dilemma.
