UTOG beers were good. I only tried the UTOG Pale Ale and what they call The BEER. Both were beyond my expectations. Not anything groundbreaking, but very solid examples of their respective styles. The Pale Ale was lively and very clean and the BEER was probably the most refreshing beer I've ever had. We got the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and they were very good but they needed some salt. We asked for salt and pepper and they were better when we added it. I got the burger. It was a boring choice but their menu is on the small side and nothing else was doing it for me. They made it sound very good. The patty was bland, overcooked and mealy. Needed salt and more. They put lettuce, tomato, red onion, some orange colored sauce along with cheese, crispy onion (thin cut onion rings) and thick bacon that they criss cross so that you have to pull the burger apart and rearrange it so that you get close to the same amount every bite. I added my own salt and pepper, I added some of my fry sauce, I added more salt, I left about 1/3 of it after I gave up. I find it odd that another review from about a week ago felt that everything was very heavily over seasoned. Maybe as a result of that review they went too far the other way. Or maybe it's just a roll of the dice day to day, cook to cook. My wife got the ribs. She really liked them. I think they were fine, and fine in a way that applies to a non-rib/BBQ place making ribs. If we were in a highly regarded BBQ joint in Texas and that's what they gave us I would be extremely disappointed. For a Brewery in Ogden it was fine. When ordering the ribs my wife wanted the house BBQ sauce, but she asked for a small side of their other BBQ sauces, the Cajun and the Carolina Mustard. The server informed her that the Cajun was the house with some Cajun seasoning in it so no need to get some of that... So she asked if she could just get some of the Carolina Mustard "BBQ Sauce." The Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce is, wait for it, plain yellow mustard. They gave her a side of yellow mustard. Their food is pricey. My 8oz burger was $16.50. It came with fries. The half rack of Ribs was $18.50. The Brussel Sprouts were $13.75 if I remember right. If I were to go back I'd eat ahead of time and just have beer. read more

Came here quick dinner and sat at the bar. The staff were friendly and attentive but the food and beer fell short of expectations. When ordering off of the posted beer list behind the bar there is no distinction between which beers are on draft and which ones are canned. I, unfortunately ordered an IPA that was canned and had no idea until the bartender handed it to me opened. I was really looking forward to a draft beer but the IPA was still pretty good out of the can. For my dinner I ordered a burger with a side salad. I asked for my burger to be medium rare and sadly it came out very well done and dry. Thankfully the toppings on the burger were tasty, but the side salad out shined the dry burger. We got to UTOG at 2:47pm, we were greeted by some friendly faces and there seemed to be chill vibes. Our were taken promptly and the waitress was hospitable. They have inside and outside seating and the only reason I have four stars instead of five is that if you sit outside there are limited beer on tap and drink options. Also the canopy doesn't provide good shade on a place that has a lot of sunlight throughout the year. I order a craft beer that was canned and it was very good. I like IPAs and it was a good one. The service was good. They didn't check on us often but I appreciated it since I was. Arching up with old friends. For food I ordered the Philly cheesesteak. It was not traditional but good. It does not have green peppers and mushrooms as standard. It was cooked in a sauce that was good but again not what you might be used to. Also they had a dressing on it that was good but different. For a side I requested a garden salad with ranch. The ranch was thicker and flavorful but the salsas had mandarin oranges. I liked it because I took them off and just ate them but I wouldn't want them mixed in with the salad. There was live music. It was a Tuesday. I REALLY really liked the portions, the variety of options - including GF for co-worker - and the atmosphere. And the food was well presented and tasty. Co-worker had the grilled salmon salad (GF) w/citrus vinaigrette. Said the salmon was a nice flavor and not overpowering. He also enjoyed the pickled red onions and the variety of cherry tomatoes. I couldn't make up my mind, so I had a cup on the butternut squash soup, the Brussel sprouts of the day (Cajun seasoning) and the Honey Stung wings drizzled w/ranch dressing. I was able to eat everything except for 4 Brussel sprout halves, which will be a late night snack. Soup was garnished w/sour cream and pumpkin seeds and the texture was very palatable. Wings were able to be cut w/a fork & butter knife, so not overcooked and plenty of meat. Naked and fried, so no gross greasy batter. Pricing was fine. $15 salad, $10 wings (8), $7 for Brussel sprouts (6 whole), $4 cup of soup and $2.50 for a soda. Drinks did not run dry. We were greeted at the door by the head brewer who was very friendly. My only concern is staffing, since we were the first table there at just after 11A on a Monday, and by the time we left 9 tables were seated, some after spending time at the door waiting for acknowledgement. (Sigh...yes, I really did) Let's unpack this: Huge "legit" in the beverage department. Really good beers here, and of note: they are making and serving the American answer to Guinness; a creamy, nutty, chocolatey stout with a cascading effervescence and honey-colored, butter-smooth head...oh, if you find yourself here, order it. Just bloody order it. This simple, beautiful beverage will haunt me every time I order a Guinness from now on, no matter how perfectly poured. I'll be thinking,, "Ah, how lovely. Yet, in Ogden, I met a Lady..." Enough about that. Here's the reason for the rating: the food is chronically over-seasoned, and the kitchen will mess with you. I ordered the daily special: halibut, they said, with a chimichuri sauce ($22) Ordering ocean fish in Idaho. I know. I probably had it coming. But I figured: I'm not that far from Washington, how bad could it be? Two thin 5-inch filets of what looked like trout, on an impressive pile of vegetables, is what appeared. They looked speckled; they were in fact crusted in salt and pepper. So over-seasoned as to make them inedible. I was so sad. I really couldn't identify the fish they used. I wanted to make it work, just to salvage the vegetables. I tried the sauce ("chimichuri") hoping it would make the salt crust make sense, but it was a sweet, mayo-based red pepper sauce, not a chimichuri at all. It ruined the dish. I sent it back. I really just wanted to walk out at that point. My wife didn't get what she wanted either- she wanted steak added to her wedge salad, and was informed that the chunk of cow would cost her more than the dish itself, despite the fact there was a steak salad on the menu. She declined. Sad sweetie, sad me. I wanted to walk out. Should have, but for the cold. The food is salty crap and the kitchen is unreasonable... ...but that stout... Lord help me...with a glass of that in front of me, there was hope. That America can make a stout that does everything Guinness can but with more flavor, more richness.... Surely the kitchen can make an edible entree!Ok, fine, so the mystery fish was too salty, I'll order the chicken.... ...oh for *@ck's sake. They crusted the carrots in so much salt, you couldn't taste them. It numbed your mouth. The chicken breast was crusted in super salty breading. The gravy was salty. The potatoes were salty. There was not enough beautiful stout in the place to make that make sense. Enough. Here's the takeaway: DON'T EAT THE FOOD. The chef has lost his palette. I worked in a kitchen where this happened; it ain't pretty. And I know what halibut looks like; save the con game for your gullible yokels and don't lie about your food! Where is the self respect? But by all means drink, drink, drink and celebrate this iconic stout, this triumph in beer form. Truly, it breaks my heart to drop a three-star on a place that makes such a beverage, and in honesty, it was a two-star review to begin with. The difference was the apologetic, understanding, and lovely service. Recommended for lovers of stout. I hear the red and the lager are worthy as well. We arrived just before noon on a Saturday and only two other people were seated. The dining room was expansive with a clean industrial look. A large par and high top tables were at the back of the dining room and a back patio for enjoying beverages was also open. The menu was mostly casual, lunch fare and it was varied enough that nearly everyone could find something to eat. While most items were expected such as soups, salads, fish and chips, fried chicken, and sandwiches including a burger, chicken sandwich, and philly cheesesteak, there were a few interesting items including plantain chips with house made black bean hummus and rueben fritters. We ordered fried pickles, buffalo mac and cheese bites, the wing sandwich with butternut squash soup, and the salmon sandwich with fries. Our appetizers were served pretty quickly. The mac and cheese bites were a little disappointing as the breading was too thick and the mac and cheese needed more cheesy goodness. I've had other mac and cheese bites that were smaller, had seasoned breading, and that had more flavorful filling, which were more successful than the ones here. The food at UTOG was all ok but what bothered me was that our food was drenched (see wing sandwich pic) or swimming (see mac and cheese bites pic) in some sauce. As one who likes for food to stand alone and not rely on sauces to add flavor, I would've liked the food to have been more seasoned. I ordered my salmon sandwich with the sauces on the side and while the piece of fish was generous and it looked blackened, it needed salt, pepper, simple seasonings. The soup also needed to be better seasoned. This is a cool spot that we may visit again but it's probably not a place that I would come to specifically for the food, however. read more

So this place was amazing! We are here visiting from California. So exciting to see Ogden becoming a brewery lover's destination. What made this better than the average brewery (besides the outstanding beer), was that they also have a full bar and delicious food. Instead of your usual bar fare, the selection had everything from fish, to burgers and salads. We had the Brussels Sprouts (fried and halved with a balsamic reduction) and the Buffalo Mac and Cheese Bites (big enough for a meal). I had the Son of a Peach beer that was wonderfully light with a light peach finish, my partner had a Jamison and Ginger. Service was great, friendly staff, and I think the owner greeted us as we arrived. Great outdoor seating in the back, and spots out front too. We had to wait a bit for a table when we could look around and see there were plenty open. Then they sat us at a high top table where we could hardly hear anyone in our group, so we asked if we could sit at one of the lower dining tables and they said "no, because you can't pull up an an extra chair to those tables".......not sure why that is, there was plenty of room. Overall, just got a weird rude vibe from the staff. (Our server was great though and super friendly) 4/5 on the beer. They had pretty good variety (sours, porters, pale ale, lager....ect) I really liked their peach Hefeweizen. 4/5 on the food. Smaller menu with good variety as well. Anything from salads to burgers, to chicken sandwiches to fish. I got their blackened tuna salad and really liked it. The tuna was perfectly seared and had an interesting "chili" style seasoning on it. I wish there had been a little more fish on it and I could've done without the cheap canned precut black olives. One of my go-to's for lunch with clients. Great atmosphere, well-rounded menu. The service is excellent, which really matters when entertaining clients. The servers are friendly and attentive, and the service is fast. Having the option of a half or full sandwich is nice, in case you're looking to keep it light to avoid the impending 1pm food coma. Can't go wrong with the French dip - great tasting caramelized beef and the bread is flaky and light so the beef is still the star, but thick enough to survive being dunked in the au jus. Lots of great appetizers to choose from. Sometimes for lunch we just order all of the appetizers for a quick feast.
