I am a returning customer, great service the first time! Brought my brand new car 3800 miles that was unfortunately swiped on the side in a parking garage to be repaired and everything was great. However, once picked up my car there was a chip in windshield and although he doesn't do glass he proceeded to tell me it must've been from a rock he stated we didn't drive it so we couldn't have done it. What can I say? This was an all around great experience. Jennifer was very knowledgeable and efficient. The communication from her throughout the process was top notch. I never had to wonder what was going on or reach out to them because she was on it. They had a rental waiting for me and my vehicle was done when they said it would be done. As for aftermarket parts that tend to not line up very well? You wouldn't know it in this case. They definitely went the extra mile to make sure everything lined up perfectly. So much better than the last body shop it was in where the bumper didn't really line up with the hood or fenders and they said it was normal with aftermarket parts and nothing they could do. First off I want to say they repaired one of my cars in the past and did a great Job! Brought my daughters car in for a estimate. Our insurance company told my wife that if the pearl white paint didn't match the bumper after the repairs were made they would repaint the car if needed. My wife mentioned this to Rick and he said no insurance company would repaint the whole car. Not sure why this irritated him but he told her to save her breath and go somewhere else. We never expected them to repaint the whole car but if it was noticeable we asked them ask them anyway. Really thrown off by the rude comments. I know they are busy but really! Well I went in for estimate, very quick and efficient and all work was explained to me with paper and pen, (no computer), dropped car off, quick and easy! I took my car here a couple of weeks ago for repairs to the side door of my van and rear quater panel. The quote and paperwork went very smoothly and I recieved my van back in the timeframe that was estimated. However, when I recieved my van back the power to my radio and console kept going out. So I took the van back and the person who helped me said that the battery probably died while it was in the shop. She asked if I had a battery charger at home and I said that I do not. She said to just run the engine for 20 minutes and it should be fine. I took the van home and did this. A couple hours later I received a frantic call from my wife saying that she almost got into a major accident because the van just died while she was making a left turn with incoming traffic coming at her. She was able to drive the van home. When she got back I opened the hood and the positive battery cable was barely touching the terminal. I enclosed a picture. Between that incident and the quality of the repair (there are some specks of dust under the paint) I would not recommend Utopia for body work. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of one was that the vehicle was returned on the estimated date and they were friendly. I would have included pictures of the paint blemishes, however, my camera is not that great. read more

Update: About a year ago we took our SUV to the shop for the passenger side back door to be replaced and painted. They did a great job on the body work but apparently I didn't inspect the car as well as I should have. We noticed a while later that the paint doesn't match. The silver is slightly darker. Very disappointed. Their prices are reasonable and their customer service is exceptional! We've taken three cars there now and each time we've been more than impressed with the quality of work and the way they've worked with us on a good price. read more

This has been my best body shop experience ever! Rick and Jennifer in the office were very nice and professional, calling me weekly to update me on the progress of my car repairs. When I got my less than 1 year old Mercedes back from them it looked fabulous and I could not even tell there had ever been anything wrong. They were able to do all of this in about 2 weeks which I thought was amazing considering it was 11,000 in damage and some of the parts had to come from Germany since it was so new. Such great service!!! I only spoke and met with Jennifer and Rick but I am well aware of the myriad of people that it took to get my 2012 Golf to look as great as it did prior to my accident. Rick went over all aspects of the repairs on the estimate and then walked me around my car and showed them to me as well. I was very concerned about how it would handle post getting sandwiched between two cars and he assuaged my concerns completely. My car was stolen on April Fools night... then found luckily a few days later, here's the deal, Rick helped me get my bumper replaced cuz even from a prior kid versus snow bank inci "dent" the joy ride caused additional damage. He then not only told me about " Wipe new" to use to get my old stuff looking newer, but then texted me a pic to make sure I found the right stuff. Apparently this guy doesn't know how to read, I never once said that I currently work for their competitor "Caliber Collision" I said I did work for them in the past. The reason I wanted to get an estimate from Utopia was because they had cheaper labor rates than the bigger shops that I got other estimates at. So i figured I would give get an estimate from Utopia to help it make it easier for my neighbor to pay. I told my neighbor that I would need the fender blended because my car is in pristine condition, there isn't even a single rock chip in the front bumper. Mercedes Benz of Rocklin has offered to buy my car several times because of the condition it is in and the miles on my car. With my experience painting over the years it is impossible to tint a color and have a perfect but match to the adjacent panel. hints the reason why i wanted the fender blended because I didn't want to see ANY type of different shade of color on my Mercedes Benz. You can be the best painter in the world, and you will never lay the metallic the same as the adjacent panel, the face might look the same but the flop will never be the same shade. IF this was an insurance claim, the insurance would not pay for a blend, but in this case, I told them I was paying cash, so it doesn't matter if i wanted hearts and stars painted on my vehicle, i'm at a body shop requesting to pay for work to be done and they are denying it? I never heard such a thing. If a customer is paying out of pocket and they told me what they wanted done, then i would do it. I find it hilarious that the owners daughter and the owner him self has no idea who they are dealing with, I can run that shop with my eyes closed, Im I-Car Gold and Platinum certified, also certified in welding and aluminum repair. I got certified with PPG back in Spain, and Certified with Akzo Nobel in Los Angeles and Certified with BASF in Germany. I have ran multiple shops and also bought and sold body shops. Everyone in this industry knows who I am including all the reps from Sata, Iwata, PPG, AKZO, and Basf. I've painted Million dollar cars around the world, Porsche 934RS, Koeneggseggs, Lamborghini's, Etc. I had so many job offer's from body shops, paint reps, insurance adjusters and etc but you couldn't pay me enough to work for someone ever again. so i find it funny when someone tries to question my knowledge. The owner said in his comment that I "wanted to collect from the person that damaged his vehicle" I specifically explained to my neighbor that i wanted the fender blended and i explained to him why i wanted to blend it and he said its fine and instructed me to get 6 estimates from any shop and thats what I did. hints the reason why I went to utopia because i wanted to make it cheaper for him to afford. To be honest, I already know Utopia would be the cheapest estimate i would have gotten because of their labor rates compared to other estimates I've gotten, so most likely I would have dropped the vehicle for repair to Utopia and they would have earned my business. The owner also said in his comment that " It seemed like i wanted to just post a negative review" ???? I've got way more important things to do than to waste my time posting negative reviews, as a matter of fact i just posted a negative review on yelp about this business and you can see on my yelp page that i never made a review in my life. This is probably the first time i have ever felt the need to post a review and the reason im doing so is because of the horrible customer service and disrespect I received when i went in to get an estimate. Horrible, horrible place to take your car. I do not recommend this shop. They messed up the entire interior of this car. My carpet is falling out, my side interior panels are falling out because the lost multiple clips for the carpet and interior paneling. Had to take it back three times until they finally stopped picking up my calls.
