I am just going to keep this short and sweet. Utopia, at first glance, is amazing. It has unique merchandise. The problem is that a solid percentage of their stuff is totally broken, ripped, faulty, or just cheaper than the cost would make it seem. Given this fact, it is worth keeping in mind that Utopia has a non-return policy (no wonder why) on any item you take outside the door. Lastly, while I do not expect their employees to be super professional, they are not even minutely so. They are fairly rude when it comes down to it. One example: I purchased a sword from Utopia. It was cool in the case. She let me handle it for like 15 seconds and it seemed nice. I then bought the item and took it outside the store. When I went to put it in my trunk, I noticed that it was broken in like three different ways. I went back into the shop and the lady genuinely said to me, "Wow it wasn't like that before when we looked at it." I then proved her wrong by showing her where the price sticker was (it was located in a spot that showcased the brokenness of the weapon). Do not waste your time at this store. Shop online instead. Just came from there where Taylor was extremely helpful in the vape department. The General manager, Brian, was also very helpful. This place is crazy... the selection of everything you could want under the sun is under this roof. Smoking supplies galore! Leaving 1 star off just due to lack of sitting room and a little smaller selection on e-juice compared with other places; however, the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Oh, and the extensive adult section is pretty awesome... as well is their funky clothing and jewelry sections. read more

I love utopia. They are great with everything, but I mudt boast about what a great job they always do on our piercings. They have always been been gentle and amazing people. I have gotten my piercings done there since I was a kid, (with consent of course). Now as an adult, they are still outstanding, i'm talking over 20 years of excellent service!! I took my daughter for her nose piercing, they explained everything to both of us, being in the medical field I can vouch, they are cleaner than most hospitals around, and well documented. All piercings were painless, extremely safe, clean, and all the staff are highly educated and trained!! They have great personalities to keep you calm if you are scared! Wow, Someone has to show some love for all the awesome people at Utopia. I have been going there since I was a kid, now I go there with my son. I love Brian, he is really Chill as are all the guys downstairs. The clothing is not my style, but I just got a banging pair of Frye boots there over the weekend. The girls are all so sweet and very pretty, my son is very happy because they descend upon him, and they are really helpful and up selling. The guys in clothing are really not that helpful, but on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the best I would give Utopia 9.5, every time. For those that have never been, it is worth the trip out to Hicksville, New York. You can walk fro the LIRR Hicksville station. As far as smoke shop goes. i love this place. and so does anyone who knows it. they have so many cool little things that you would never even think of that make your smoking experience that much better. They have a sex shop, a smoke shop, a piercing shop, a clothing shop, oils, posters, stickers, you name it. They are a bit pricey with piercings tho. Went here for some late Christmas gifts for my best friends. They are big into crystals and unfortunately I didn't know much about the subject. Luckily I had so much help from the woman behind the counter, Zina. I was able to tell her a little bit about my friends lives and showed me wide variety of crystals and stones that would help with their stress levels and overall serenity. She was thoughtful and knowledgable and was more than happy to answer the many questions I asked. After 45 minutes I ended up getting 6 beautiful crystals for my friends which they absolutely loved and were surprised I would know what to get. I was really happy with my experience at Utopia. I love the staff here, but the stuff they sell is just way too expensive. You're better off getting better deals on Amazon or other websites. I mainly just go to get healing stones (Buddhist meditation etc), but they have some that are priced as high as $60. I looked up comparative pricing on stuff such as Larimar, which they sell for $60, that you can buy online for $15....and they sell Tourmaline for as much as $45, when it's actually worth 20 in comparison to just about everywhere else. I would not get myself pierced here. They also have about 2 people working the whole store at one time, so if you're waiting around to buy something that's in a case (as most of their items are), you'll be there a while. read more

Yeah its not as cool as it was in the late 90s and now looks like a Zumiez meets Hot Topic but they still have some items that cannot be found anywhere else. They have a great incense collection, the best on the Island for sure. At this point the glass/vape downstairs must keep them in business. Does anyone actually get tattooed or pierced here anymore? Alan left years ago and that area of the store doesn't look as active. If your looking for some unique counter-culture items all in one spot this is your best bet, much like St. Marks itself has transitioned over the years into novelties instead of at the helm of underground culture so has Utopia. I don't know much about the other services provided aside from the vape shop. Granted it's in the same room as some of the more XXX products but if you're old enough to look into nicotine products you're old enough not to be offended by that. The staff there are SUPER friendly and their vape equipment is top of the line. I was pleasantly surprised to see them carry e-liquid from all the notorious vendors - Highbrow, Virgin Vapor, Velvet Cloud - and Ashley particularly was a sweetheart to buy from. When I got there we talked for a few and made a few helpful suggestions on what to do about my piercing, one of which I used. Also, they sell CHINA QUARTZ BANGERS for QUAVE CLUB BANGER PRICES. Not only that, they sell their dab mats for $40. LOL 40 dollars to advertise for this place. I would've given this place 0 stars if it was an option. Do yourself a favor, go to Boro brothers in massapeqa or Burn in wantagh. they have BRAND NAME quartz and very helpful/knowledgable stuff. I am a 40 year old mom, and I have been going to Utopia since I was a kid! I was SO happy when my daughter was old enough to come with me! She absolutely LOVES the place, too! I have turned on MANY people to it! Most of them love it, too. Sad to say that I never actually got pierced or tattooed there, but I have taken people to do so, and they said great things about it. I still go there whenever I get the chance! Would LOVE to work there, but, sadly, if it's not off the books, I can't do it..LOL Whenever I try to explain it to people, it's just too difficult, so I just drag them along, and they ultimately agree that it really IS the BEST!!! The store used to be a fine place to get your funky threads, detailed tattoos, and some really nice glass, but it has stuck with the times and done a complete 180 on us. They now have jerk offs for staff members, most of them not knowing jack about the glass blowers or the products themselves. The guy tonight was too stoned to even help us out. The prices have also gone way above the product's true value. After being a loyal customer here for ten years, I will never return due to the changes they've made. If you have the extra money to spend, I'm sure you'll find what you need, but if you're the average head shop customer, this place is going to be a bit too commercialized and pricey for your liking. I went in with my sister to get a piercing after a bad break up and anthony was so sweet, he was very informative and you can tell he knows what he's doing. I am petrified of needles and the girl up front let me home a calming rock to help sooth my nerves. Although I'm not sure I believe these rock work, the fact that she was so sweet made my experience a lot easier. I used to go to skin deep for piercings, i got my triple helix done at skin deep and two out of three rejected. They are a little pricy which is why I'm giving 4 stars but worth the money in my opinion. I will forever ONLY go to Anthony for my piercings. Thanks for the great experience utopia! read more

My friend and I originally stopped in here for christmas shopping, and after meeting the piercer, Kaspa, we were impressed by the knowledge and just welcoming atnosphere. I didn't feel stupid for any questions or concerns, which isn't always true in peircing and tattoo shops. I had been thinking of getting my daith (which is what I got), or reverse tragus for a while, just something to add to what I have already and she had wanted to repierce her nose, so even though what we chose to get weren't spur of the moment decisions, getting them done right then and there was largely influenced by how comfortable we felt after meeting Kaspa and his apprentice. The store is vast and incredible, high ceilings tons of selections for the scene kids, some good stuff for raves, and a crazy sex shop downstairs if you're into that. I was interested in the knives upstairs and the dude helping people was fairly patient with my bad knowlege of knives. The "awesome headshop" looked fairly awesome, but as an 18 year old they wouldn't even let me look. Understandable but they had no need to be rude about it. The staff downstairs are complete snobs, and I asked about buying something on the counter, they said sarcastically "yes", however it didn't come out that way because they're complete spergs, and when I asked to buy papers they got very angry at me, then ignored me like complete retards. Probably why they're 22+ and working behind a counter. Can't wait to come back when I'm 19 and tell them off. That's why 2 instead of 3 or 4. read more

Their jewelry selection is great and better priced then other places on long Island ,especially on the 14k gold .The manager Frank was so friendly and very helpfull he explained all about the jewelry and took his time showing me everything, even offered to order from a catalog if they did not have what I was looking for. The selection of jewelry is the largest I have seen on Long Island and the store is filled with all kinds of interesting things.I was told the old piercer is gone and that they have 2 new piercers to replace him. the parking was good and over all I highly recommend giving this place a look., or second chance. They have a large, eclectic mix of merch & the vibe is good. The staff is terrific -- helpful, knowledgeable and, frankly ... sweet! I purchased charcoal & candles there & was pleasantly surprised to find that they were reasonably priced. Charcoal is not an item you can get just anywhere, so when I see it I buy as much as I can afford, which usually isn't much because it's usually so expensive. I left with several.
