This was our first time at Utopia. My (almost teen) daughter got a super short haircut and her stylist, Keyona (I'm probably not spelling that right), did an awesome job! She was new, but she took her time and was super patient and careful, and the manager, Jenifer, kept checking in, helping her out, giving tips, etc. It was a really supportive and encouraging environment, and super reasonably priced. This is a 1 STAR REVIEW NOT 3 STAR! COME ON YELP DO BETTER PLEASE! This salon charged me $278.19 for PURPLE, BLUE AND YELLOW hair. They also didn't cut my hair like I asked. I went in for a cut and color and Jillian the stylist talked me into going silver because she said she could do it. She couldn't cut my hair and had someone else come over to try and fix it. I went home to see that my hair had 3 colors and the cut wasn't even close to the A-line I wanted. My daughter called but they were closed so I had to wait over a day to call. When my daughter called the receptionist wouldn't give my daughter any Management or Owner time frame on when they would be there UNTIL my daughter told her what was wrong. When my daughter told her she abruptly asked if my daughter had pictures and she said yes of course and the receptionist waited to see pictures before she would go on with the conversation. That is strange but ok. Then she told my daughter that she saw the purple and NEVER stated that she saw it at my appointment and she would contact Lisa Houser the owner and have her contact my daughter. Then about 15 minutes later a text came through stating that she called my daughter twice but zero answer. That was a complete lie because we were together having coffee and waiting for the call. The email said I could come in on 1 of 2 days to talk but NEVER did they even ask me to come right in to try to fix their Horrible Mistake. At that moment I decided I would ask for my refund due to the fact they DIDN'T care even after seeing the pictures. I went in on 5-2-2024 at 9:38am and was told to go back and sit in the stylist chair and I kindly said NO because I felt deceived and that they didn't care to fix their mistakes days earlier. That's when Lisa Houser the owner became very Aggressive and started to tell me what happened and I told her that's what happened and I started to tear up and my daughter was on the phone with me and tried to explain to Lisa Houser the owner my side and Lisa Houser the owner yelled to my daughter that " you were NOT here and I'm NOT talking to you!" Then Lisa Houser the owner stated in front of at least 1 customer and her staff " HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU DONE THIS BEFORE?". I was so shocked and then my daughter replied " DID SHE JUST ACCUSE US OF DOING THIS BEFORE ARE YOU KIDDING ME REALLY!". Then Lisa Houser the owner yelled to my daughter that she was going to HANG UP MY CALL with her. My daughter told her she might want to RETHINK that because it wouldn't be wise to touch her mother's phone and by the way she had been RECORDING the phone call. Then Lisa Houser the owner started saying things that never happened and that they were rated top what ever in the area as if that had ANY relevance to what was happening. I left and my daughter and I posted a review that Lisa Houser the owner gets to comment on and she not only LIED but she said I threw something and they were threatened and that is truly DISCOURAGING. I have a Recording and she has Video so I'm going to see how Lisa Houser will LIE her way out of that. Someone commented after my daughter with ONLY 1 star and ZERO words and Lisa Houser ACCUSED my daughter by name of having someone do it and she was contacting her attorney. Well my daughter didn't BUT welcomes Lisa Houser's attorney to contact her so my daughter won't have to file the suite first. My daughter will give her until next week to follow through with her Threat and if no contact from Lisa Houser's attorney then my daughter will file! Also YELP gave 3 stars instead of 1 star! I'm going to have it fixed! read more

So glad I found this place! I ended up calling same day and I'm very grateful they were able to get me in. The staff were so kind and helpful. As I walked through the door I was greeted with smiles. My stylist was Lindsey and she was amazing. I desperately needed a trim. After going to many hair places my hair still looked unhealthy post trim. She was attentive to my wants. She was so sweet and gave me good advice on taking care of my dry ends. The cut included a wash as well. I could see she goes above and beyond. My hair looks so healthy now. I am obsessed! I brought my daughter in, I was searching online and googled places that do kids hair cuts and came across them. It was so easy scheduling an appointment. Although I didn't know any of the hair stylist I just chose one and I chose Ana, which I'm so glad I did! Ana did a cut on my daughter's hair. My daughter has very long hair down to her butt. We wanted to cut off all the dead ends and do layers in the front and she did an amazing job! She definitely listened well to what I was wanting and we are extremely happy with the results. My first appointment at Utopia was perfect. Immediately when I walked in I was greeted and offered hot tea or coffee (it was pretty cold out that afternoon). The stylist, Lindsey, was ready for me right on time, no waiting. In addition to the haircut, I scheduled a scalp treatment which was amazing and I highly recommend. Lindsey took the time to give me some really helpful styling tips for my curly hair and even took some extra time to show me some techniques to get better curl definition. I love my hairstyle now (didn't feel like I needed to put it up in a bun or ponytail all day) and already scheduled my next visit with Lindsey for some color. read more

I've been DIY'ing my hair for years to save money and would get a professional cut/color once a year only. I turn 40 next month and was looking to change up my look. So I at-home changed my hair color from a dark brunette to copper red for the new year. I did SO MUCH damage to my hair! It turned out more Disney Ariel Red, then a yucky orange/brass yellow, very brittle, dry, and frizzy. My husband pushed me to go get it done (fixed ) professionally. I got dumped as a customer by this salon. The haircuts weren't very consistent, but I didn't mind much. After going there for over a year, they gave me a fake appointment day and time. When I showed up, they informed me that I had no appointment, and that the girl who cut my hair didn't even work on that day. I was on time and even had my appointment card. They never even acknowledged, much less apologized for, the fake appointment, so I assume this was intentional. I have no idea what I did wrong. I always had pleasant conversations with the haircutter and tipped well. On my last visit, I tipped with cash instead of their app, and this seemed to confuse them. Maybe that's what I did wrong, I'll never know. So, you should avoid this salon unless you want the same crap to happen to you. There were never very many customers there at all, so I don't think they'll be open for much longer anyway. read more

I would not recommend Utopia. I've tried twice to get a good haircut with two different high level stylists. Both times, the haircut was really bad with one side layers very different from the other side. Even though it's only been a couple weeks, I'm going into Portland to get it fixed. This is my first salon color (going grey, ready to go lighter instead of the box color I've used for years). I had an 'inspiration' photo. She made no promises and did tell me that because of the lingering box color, it wouldn't be quite the same and could take more than one visit- no surprise... my hair was a mess with washed-out box color.
