Really blown away by the UES gem that's near where I live! I came here on a Tuesday night at 7pm with my cousin for dinner. The seating inside was packed, but they managed to offer us immediately a table outside with the heat lamp, so it was still nice and cozy even during a cold Fall night. Everything here including the food, service, and atmosphere was spot on for the night to spend time with family. We ordered the following: calamari grigliati (grilled calamari on top of a arugula salad) as a appetizer and as our main I got the pappardelle al ragu di vitello (veal ragu pappardelle) and she got the special pasta of the night which was a sausage with pasta sheets dish. Total bill came out at $75 tax and tip not included. AMBIANCE: Restaurant itself has a cute interior decor, and was a good blend between a rustic Tuscan charm with that of a upscale italian restaurant you'd expect to get in Italy. There's plenty of outdoor and indoor tables, including a bar area if you're interested in more bar food and drinks too. Place feels homey especially with the plants and decor they have hanging around the walls and at various nooks and corners. PROS: The calamari dish we got was spot on. It was grilled to perfection, the arugula salad was nice, zesty, and balanced well with the bits of cheese and tomatoes scattered throughout the plate. The pappardelle was a decent portion, and the pasta tasted house made. Sauce was creamy, and the veal was tasty, delicious and fresh. The extra layer of grated parmesan cheese from the servers was an amazing addition to this already incredible pasta dish. My cousin enjoyed her pasta dish alot, and I managed to taste big chunks of smokey sausage in her special pasta dish, and it definitely delivered. Tomato sauce that made both the pasta dishes were out of the world, and that is some incredible base flavors that they use for most of their cooking. Staff was on point, attentive, and incredibly hospitable. They answered our questions and refilled our water without us asking. OVERALL: Fantastic place to catch up with friends, have a date night, or grab some really rustic, authentic Italian food. Put this place on your radar if you're ever around in the area! read more

Uva is a great restaurant with solid Italian food.We had relatives from out of town and overall had a lovely time with them at Uva. Making a reservation for a big party was easier than anticipated and the staff were attentive and accommodating during our time there. (Note: I also came for brunch years ago and would much rather come for dinner instead). What we ordered: PROSCIUTTO & MOZZARELLA CALAMARI GRIGLIATI CARCIOFI FRITTI INSALATA BIANCA PAPPARDELLE AL RAGU DI VITELLO BRODETTO DI PESCE GNOCCHI DI RICOTTA They also have a good selection of wine. We ordered bottles of white and red wine and both paired well with the appetizers and entrees. Food overall is standard/good but not mind blowing. A decent spot on the UES with outdoor seating that isn't too hectic. The pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked, the pesto was nicely herby and portions were generous. My friends ordered the gnocchi which was nicely creamy but a bit heavy and the fettuccini, which was much nicer and well balanced. I would skip out on ricotta bruschetta next time, the truffle honey was the only thing that elevated this from being just bread with pretty unremarkable ricotta. not worth the price point for what it was. read more

Everything about Uva was phenomenal. We walked in on a random weeknight and had no problem getting seated (I heard this never happens.) They started us with bread and olive oil which is kind of underrated these days since most restaurants charge for this. We ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine to share between the 3 of us. It was the perfect amount of food. The stuffed eggplant and grilled calamari were scrumptious, the homemade pappardelle ragu was divine and the duck was savory. Cute, cozy, authentic and friendly. I had an amazing time coming here. The place is clean, very welcoming and the staff is super sweet/helpful. On the night I came I had no clue what I wanted to eat, my waitress went through the entire menu and was super patient with us. She gave me so much time to order and was not overwhelming. I ended up getting a bottle of red wine (super good) and prosciutto salad. Although I didn't get much to eat, my experience was great and the menu was full of variety. First comment: LONG WAIT. Was it worth it? A hesitant yes. The Ricotta Bruschetta with the truffle honey was great - very light and refreshing complimented with a pungent kick of truffle and sweet honey. The Foccacia with pesto is passable, would try something else on the menu. The pastas were great; Really enjoyed the Mushroom Mezzalune! The ragu was good but not great. I wouldve liked to try the Gniocchi instead perhaps. Frosé and Sangria were a great choice too, unlike other joints, you can actually taste the wine in the drink but was not overpowering either. Very reasonable as well, lovely ambiance and interiors but am already hassled about the wait, especially considering they don't take reservations. read more

Good place to come to eat late! On a Sunday night at 10PM it was pleasantly low key. The holiday decor at this time of year is cute too. They have candles lit everywhere, including in the nooks of the brick wall. We got the mulled wine, salad with the frisée and pear, fettuccine with the shrimp and the gnocchi with truffle. The salad was great to split as a starter before the pasta. Be careful with the cheese, though. The chunks were larger than expected and I accidentally mistook some pieces for pear in the low light. Since it's Gorgonzola getting a whole chunk is overpowering. I found the fettuccine to be bland, tbh. Don't let the glistening photos fool you - the sauce is an extremely light white wine based sauce. It felt like most of the sauce sat at the bottom of the plate, but even if I had realized that earlier on and mixed it in with the pasta I would have felt the dish was still lacking in flavor. Personally I leaned on the table salt and pepper to help. The gnocchi was delicious and creamy. I'm a real sucker for creamy pasta, so I was envious of my friend's choice. I was happy to find they did not skimp on the truffle. It was easy to taste in every bite. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy as well. Our server was sweet and charming, but after he took our order we realized he wasn't coming back to serve us for the rest of the meal. It was confusing not knowing who we should be talking to if we needed something else and felt like our server had just disappeared. Not a big deal, but still. Discovered Uva through an Instagram foodie post and was immediately drawn to the gnocchi. It definitely was not a disappointment. My friend and I decided to share a plate of the gnocchi, a pizza flatbread, and bruschetta. We could have passed on the appetizers, but we will definitely come back for the gnocchi. We were told this after waiting 20 minutes patiently. . My friends and I were wanting to do Italian on a Monday night after checking Yelp I had high hopes just looking at the number of reviews, but this place was very lack luster. On a Monday night, Uva was packed both indoors and outdoors, but we were still able to be seated outside easily. I ordered the Antipasto Misto ($28) for the table and ordered the Mezzelune Alla Boscaiola ($24) for my entree. I enjoyed the Antipasta Misto way more than my pasta dish which is very disappointing granted the Antipasto had no elements that were cooked and rather items put together on a plate. The Mezzelune Alla Boscaiola was not hot when I received it and slightly above room temperature and it was not chilly outside at all that evening. I'm glad I got some parmesan on the dish from the server, because it needed some extra salt and even then the dish was just lacking. The mushrooms gave the dish some texture, but the sauce was bland and tasted like nothing. The filling of the ravioli was disappointing as well and no flavors really came through. It's just disappointing to pay $24 for a dish and it be below average. I sadly have enjoyed meals at Olive Garden more than what I received. My friends ordered the Pappardelle Al Ragu Di Vitello, Gnocchi Di Ricotta, and Brodetto di Pesce. They also noted how their food was not hot either and lacked flavor. Yum! I'm rarely in the UES area but gave this a shot recently. I knew I had to get the Gnocchi Di Ricotta w Truffle since I love truffle and gnocchi. The gnocchi were perfectly fluffy, and the sauce was pretty truffley. Definitely get this if you're as much of a truffle fan as me!! Came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night and the place was packed! Make a reservation in advance! We started off with the veal meatballs which were so tender and not dry at all! So delicious - would come back just for these! Veal was so flavorful and not too salty (like a lot of meatballs are). Would say these are the second best meatballs I've had at a restaurant (after carbone!) Wonderful fresh hand made pasta. The Ragu papperdelle wasn't too heavy. The summer fettuccine was also very light. Shrimp was good quality. I thought it could have used a bit more sauce or seasoning but my boyfriend liked it better than the ragu! Overall would recommend. It was late at night, and they seated us outdoors. The space was very cozy, the heat was sufficient. We had meatballs and calamari for an appetizer. The meatballs are kinda dense and filling. Love the calamari, they are not the deep-fired ones, lightly breaded and chewy :) The rigatoni and chicken were also very tasty, wish that chicken can be juicier tho. I love the food here. I have gone back a few times and brought family. The place is well decorated and has relaxed lighting. The service is good enough but has high turnover rate. It's the food that is most memorable. After ordering appetizers, main dishes and desert I have never left full... I'm 5',7" and 169 pounds. Come on ppl put some proper portions so someone my size doesn't leave like they could eat another main dish without struggling. The average costs at the end of a three course meal from UVA should at least fill you up. At least once. Was on the hunt for some truffle and had to go through google to find this gem. This was the number 1 recommended restaurant when I searched the two key words "truffle & "pasta" . Since moving back to flushing I have been more active in traveling back to the city for some great food and this place was definitely worth the hike. In this heavily congested part uptown stacked with restaurants lies UVA where you can get fresh pasta made to order and fresh truffle shaved onto your dis for a small price of $16. I opted for the gnocchi de ricotta and honestly wished I had ordered another to go because it was so good. Everything was extremely fresh and the ambiance in the restaurant was amazing. We chose the outdoor seating in the patio because it was beautiful out and wanted to enjoy the great weather with some great food. However, what really stood out to me was actually the ricotta cheese with black truffle honey. Despite its simplicity in appearance, it was one of the best appetizers I've had in a while. The cheese is so soft and melts in your mouth, and the drizzle of honey really adds to the overall taste. I really wish I'd taken a picture of it, but before I knew it I'd already eaten all of it.
