This is one of the finest restaurants in the world surrounded by beautiful art, masterful service and engaging atmosphere and remains one of ultimate favorites The meal was beyond superlative. We started with a manhattan and a delicious kir royale which was spectacular pink and tart with a lemon rind. The bread basket shown was amazing with a favorite olive baguette served with the ultimate garlic butter. The special appetizer of black truffle fettuccine Alfredo was Perfect silky and smooth. The favorite entree was a veal osso bucco and prepared soft shell crabs. I liked the red lights on the outside for the holidays. It adds zest! Long bar upon entry. Very aesthetically pleasing, varied drink options. Had drinks at the bar while waiting for table. The bar leads to a decent sized dining area. Beyond that is the garden room with windows and more city backyard vibes. Overall, I loved the ambiance and mood, the art Ike beautiful and whimsical. It was busy with low convos: sweet whisperings. Service was timely, attentive and polite. The food was delicious, I think my spaghetti was super Al denté, but that's a matter of choice I suppose. Always an amazing time at Sistina with fantastic food and attentive service. Love their cacio e Pepe, bolognese, chicken meatballs and peach Bellinis made with fresh peach cream. They have many daily specials for fish, pasta and meat and unique dishes like grilled liver steak. There are three things you look for in a great restaurant experience. The food, the service and the restaurant itself. Unfortunately there are very few that excel at all three. Sistina hit it out of the part. The meal was absolutely delicious. We began with two appetizers to share with three diners. We had the stuffed squash blossoms and tuna tartar. Both were exceptional. The squash blossoms in particular were amazing. The service was spot on. Our server was extremely helpful and very friendly. It made for relaxed fine dining. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. We were sat in the back and it was bright, airy and perfectly reflected the vibe of the restaurant. La Sistina is an upscale spot on the UES. I recommend sitting in the garden room if possible, which is well lit and bright. There is also some cool art decorating the restaurant. The service was good, and I appreciated the selection of breads and three kinds of butter to start. The restaurant has a very large specials menu, which I ordered from. I got the scallops and potato puree. It was pretty filling and the scallops were cooked well, but I wish there was more variety and flavors with the dish. The scallops had a nice texture, but definitely lacked flavor, and the combination of the scallops and potato could get a bit tiring by itself. I wish the dish had a bit of acid to lighten it as well. The dish I ordered was okay but not terribly impressive. read more

I had the most amazing experience at Sistina's - it was a 10 in every category - the ambience and beauty of the space was such a treat - I had a table in the garden room and it was it is so beautiful - the artwork, the beautiful table setting China, the paintings and decor, everything just beautiful. The service was warm and attentive and even though I was a solo diner I wasn't made to feel out of place at all. And the food was spectacular - I had seen seen on their website the chocolate soufflé which actually wasn't on the lunch menu - I asked if I could have it and they said of course! I made a dinner reservation over the phone. Unfortunately, I had to cancel a few hours before due to illness. I was never informed of any cancelation fee during the call. Despite this, I was later charged $200 without my authorization or prior warning. I called immediately to explain the situation and spoke to Antonio. He was understanding and said we wouldn't want you to come in sick and if you rebook within the next week, we will offer you a $200 credit. I agreed. He said he will confirm with the owner and call me back. The next day someone else called and revoked that offer. Charging customers without disclosing terms is not acceptable. This place is absolutely not worth the prices they charge - the food is pretty average too. They hit you for everything that they possibly can. Do not be fooled by the 'would you like some cheese and meats before we tell you the specials' trick either. They will add all of that on your check. We arrived for lunch and were cordially invited to choose indoor or outdoor seating, and our preferred room. The space in the back was at once, whimsical, open and airy. Note: the ceiling was high and amplified adjacent conversations which was a bit distracting. When we asked to see the wine list, a large, thick binder was presented; loaded with page after page of goodness. Cocktails and Mocktail drinks are carefully crafted and delicious. My companion declared his House Old Fashion the best ever. My starter, a lovely Heirloom Tomato Salad was thoughtfully plated and so flavorful. Giuseppe's Chicken Meatball entree was excellent; especially with the Piedmont Red. Thin, crispy breadsticks and a variety of fresh, warm, crusty bread choices were served with butter pats too. A bit of a miss occurred when one in our party failed to receive his entree along with the rest. When it did arrive, no reason was offered for the delay. I chose the Taratofu dessert. It was heavenly. The hot, fresh roast coffee came out with a plate of little baked muffin-like goods. They served as the perfect finale to a fine meal. read more

Two pasta dishes were VERY salty and barely edible. Two staff members asked how our meal was and when told it was terrible, they did nothing and said nothing. Fantastic restaurant but don't order specials without asking the price - we were charged $40 each for a bowl of soup as our first course (mushroom soup and broccoli soup). With a specials list as long as the menu, maybe they need to put the specials on a specials menu WITH prices. We have lived 37 years on the Upper East Side and never have we been so shocked, even having eaten at Per Se, Eleven Madison and the like. I did not kick up because I didn't ask the price so it was my fault, and the soup was good, but not worth $40, that's not even credible in the scheme of things. Came here for lunch before going to visit the Met down the street during Covid times. They have a very nice outdoor sidewalk area with cute plants. It was warm enough to sit outside without heaters during this time. My friend suggested it and she had never been there either so it was a first for both of us! We decided to share the appetizer of cantaloupe and prosciutto, which was excellent! We also had a delicious glass of rose to go along with the meal. The service was very friendly and attentive, although our waiter's accent was a bit thick so it was a little difficult to understand all the specials he recited... Anyways, we both ended up getting the ravioli entree with goat cheese. It was to die for! So creamy and filling with all the cheese. I definitely recommend this, although everything on the menu sounded so good! We found a great new spot one block from the Met. We sat outside in their beautifully set up tent. The space is beautiful. The waitstaff from hostess, managers and runners were all friendly. We had the tomato salad with Mozzarella Di Buffala and and the summer green salad with figs, walnuts, dates and goat cheese. They give you bread sticks and a basket of sourdough bread. We went inside to see the restaurant space which was crowded. The 4th floor has an art gallery that was closed today so we'll try to see it next time. read more

This place is a disaster. The food is mediocre at best, which does not cut it if you're going to charge $30 for appetizers in Manhattan. I had figs in my starter that were borderline inedible, the cheese tasted old, just generally not good. The bread was the best thing I've eaten here, not a good sign. The service is an absolute clown show, the wait staff is rude, and the chef wanders around the dining, not speaking to anyone, just kind of creepily staring at tables. And for ambiance, it's very stuffy, which can be fine if the food and service are great, but as mentioned above, both are well below par here. Legitimately will never eat there again. read more

We got married at this space 15 years ago when it was Bruno Jamais, and decided for our 15th anniversary, since we were in NYC, to return for lunch at Sistina to celebrate. They have done a beautiful job updating the decor - different but still unique and beautiful. The back room, with the glass wall looking out on a garden, and a skylit ceiling, is really special. Service was top notch as was the food. We started with the Braesola salad, with arugula, artichokes, shaved Parmesan and a lemon dressing - fantastic! My wife had the chicken breast paillard with artichokes and lemon sauce - simple but exquisite. I had the bucatini Amatriciana, which was also delicious. A small but excellent wine list provided us with a lovely crisp dry Sicilian rose. And for dessert we shared a ricotta cheesecake with blueberry compote and raspberry granita - a perfect ending! read more

We went to this beautiful restaurant for dinner last night. The chef/owner was at the host's station. He was nice and helped us get our reservation sorted out. Usually a restaurant's atmosphere doesn't matter to me. This is an unusually beautiful restaurant. We were seated in the back room and it felt as if we were dining in a museum. The tables were well spaced. We were surrounded by flowers and artwork. We were blown away when our waiter turned out to be Marco, who we knew forever from Moscato in Scarsdale. We were started off with excellent breadsticks, a varied bread basket and toothsome truffle butter. The wine list was encyclopedic. Most of the bottles were nosebleedingly expensive. I wish there were a few sub $100 bottles of wine available, because the value for the price isn't there for most mortals. The food was off the charts. This was a top 10 meal. The artichokes with shrimp, beets and burrata and gazpacho special were all awesome. My wife had the pasta special of mixed pasta with morels, mushrooms, asparagus and other vegetables. She thought it swoon worthy. I had whole wheat pasta with truffles and crabmeat- terriffic! We were too full for dessert. The prices are stratospheric, but the space, food and service justify it. This is a special occasion meal unless you're a tycoon or trustafarian. We will return to celebrate something or someone. read more

Not great - many other Italian places have as good or better food IMO (been to plenty of hole in walls to most 3 Michelin Star restaurants). Even opted for fresh shaved white truffles on our risotto but very $$$ - waiter didn't say price until afterwards. Unfortunately, what was the most shocking part was we asked for a side of raw tomatoes for our son since that was his vegetable for dinner. Then after perusing the hundred plus page wine list I asked for Chianti. They did not have it either. We were up sold on another Chianti which was very good. It's a bit overpriced but I see why. They cater to the high end UES clientele. Such is life!!! I think the service is good but nothing like over the top. Was a bit disappointed because I tried to make a dinner reservation for two at 7pm on the weekend but I was told they don't have a table available it has to be at 9pm. Had a reservation at Sistina this past Friday. Called on Friday to ask if I would be charged the cancellation fee if I cancelled as my wife was feeling sick and was told "no, we won't charge you this time but next time we will" - thus, cancelled the reservation. Sistina then charged me $200 for the cancellation. After calling back, I was told that the manager decided to charge me even though I was told otherwise. Note: I would not have cancelled my reservation if I was going to be charged. Two people at Sistina have now told me "the best course of action is for you to dispute this with your credit card company, we can't do anything". Terrible service and waste of time. read more

This was our first time at the restaurant. The ambience is lovely. The room is quite nice. No music is a plus. The crowd is old and well dressed, by that I mean sport jackets . The weight staff was wonderful, and the food quite good. When you first sit down, they place prosciutto and cheese on the table as you peruse the menu. The reason I write this review is because they actually charge $50 for this dish which no one actually ordered. I presumed this was on the house, so to speak. Unfortunately I noticed I was charged for it. After spending $400 for two people it seems very petty. If they want to charge, they should put it on the menu and let the customer decide to order it. Terrible customer service. They are unresponsive when calling, they do not have a voicemail setup either and you cannot change your reservation via a third party app even if you made it on Opentable. It's a scam that they want to make it as hard as possible to cancel or change your reservation so they can make money off of you. We were sick with COVID and tried multiple times ot get in touch with this restaurant and they still charged us. First, food was delicious, a little overpriced but right next to the MET so understandable. I brought my wife and kids ages 11 and 8. They put us in a cute room, fine, but then we realized that there was a different room with natural light and a garden and everyone else was in that room. All new guests went there too. After we got our food which took a very long time, no one came to refill water or check on us or collect our plates until we tracked someone down. We finally realized that there was no one attending our room! Our server was actually the bartender in the other room at the bar not that close to us. The hostess apologized at the end and said that she put us in the first table she saw. But for all later guests she put them in the brighter room past our room? Given that cost per person is $200- +300, and most nights it's crowded, you would think the owner would be more pleasant. Not our Italian stallion-- he walks among his patrons like a victorious gladiator, or maybe his secret is the Achilles heal of his UES crowd --Appeal is always inversely proportional to attainability. Or perhaps it's because this restaurant has no competition in the immediate neighborhood, or perhaps the patrons enjoy being told what to do by a waiter from Queens. Which is note worthy as there are a handful of excellent Italian restaurants there, at a fraction of the cost. Last night when I told my waiter I want to order a drink, before I order food, his response was "let me tell you the specials before it gets to crowded- and when I asked for a basket of bread, his response was "you can have bread when you order your food." Didn't know I was being trained for the NYC kennel club. This is outrageous behavior and I'm paying for it ! Could be the UES clients like abuse, or are too lazy to venture into other areas in NYC where there are abundant Italian restaurants with superior food. I talked with some friends who also frequent this S&M club fronting as a restaurant and they agree with me. no Michelin star here, just an expensive spaghetti joint - truffles on everything $$$....
