Very friendly staff, nice place, excellent wine, however my $60 house special steak was horrible. I took only 2 bites, I couldn't continue to eat it. Even though I ordered it medium rare, the surface was too well done, the taste was bland, and the meat's texture was very dry. The meat was not fresh, it may have been defrosted, and re-frozen. And, the roasted potatoes that it came with was extremely dry. This dish should have had some type of sauce to accompany it since it was so dry, and tasteless. The brownie dessert was the worst that I've ever had. The brownie was served cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It should have been served hot. The texture of the brownie was extremely dry, and tasteless. And, our 2nd dessert, the creame brûlée was burnt. It tasted like charcoal. The fried calamari appetizer was good. And, the house special scallops and clams with rigatoni was pretty good. Overpriced for some menu items being tasteless. Very disappointed; I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and we've always wanted to try this place. read more

Saturday saw a Mercedes deliver lots of seafood boxes from the car trunk into the restaurant Good luck with eating there. Who knows how long that was in the hot trunk with no refrigeration. First time there on Sunday with a friend -warm, friendly environment - sat at the bar and ordered a Bottle of wine which bar tender Germano suggested - it was fabulous - we had the eggplant balls, stuffed dates awesome- cheese and Italian meats with olives.....germano didn't miss a trick -spot on.... espresso and Italian cheese cake - delicious ..... definitely will be back - Thursday's ladies night read more

Best place in Malverne hands down. What a transformation from the old Cork'n Board! The interior is rustic, charming, and warm. Wait staff is helpful, attentive, and extremely friendly. Generous servings of delicious white sangria. Great assortment of cheese! The Monday special of meat lasagna was tremendous and unbelievably fresh. The margarita pizza was also quite delicious. My only complaint is that they tend to run out of specials or menu items frequently, so don't have your heart set on a specific item before consulting the waitress. Overall, I had a spectacular, delicious dinner in a great, intimate atmosphere. Can't wait to go back! read more

I joined two friends for dinner on a Saturday night and the atmosphere and food was great. At first the waitress was very nice and knowledgeable, but as the night went on, she became increasingly agitated that our table had reservations and that we needed to be done by 7:00 (yes she told us that). She came over EVERY 5 MINUTES to ask us how we were doing (in a fake voice), to give us a hint that we needed to hurry up. She started this at 6:15-when there was still 45 minutes left! Then she stood behind us and started telling her co-worker that we needed to get out because of the reservation and thought we didn't hear her. We couldn't even order dessert or coffee because she was being so worked up about the time we were taking. One of my friends is a regular and would go there again, but my it was my friends and I first time and we both said despite how great the food was we would not go back. She made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I don't think it's appropriate to tell your guests that they need to leave because of a later reservation. It is so tacky and rude. The waitress had red hair and bangs, avoid her at all costs. I would have come there with my husband for a romantic dinner but it makes me nervous just thinking about how we would be treated. It's too bad because the food is phenomenal. read more

We were a party of 7 celebrating a dear friend's birthday. We had a 6p.m reservation and got there about 6:15p--but nevet got into the building until about 6:30p---the primary reason being the Parking lot is very small and tight. Waiting can be tricky if you're familiar with the location/area. We car pooled using only 2 cars--that was a good judgement call. We finally got into the restaurant. Small rustic decor, clean, pleasant atmosphere. Totally abuzz. We were greeted by a remale host. Not sure if she is the owner or manager. Regard with chatter.We were greeted by a female,she was very professional and businesslike. She escorted us to our table. Well the glitch was our friend had made reservations for 6 and we ended up being 7 so they had to make changes at that time. Ohhhh!!!!!!!! that was tricky because that dining area was cramed almost to capacity. Despite that, the staff was courteous and helpful at the same time. We finally got seated... We ordered a nice Chardonnay before ordering our entrees... FFWD.........We ordered a variety from the "Special of the day" from fish to veal to steak....I sampled from everyone's plate at the table---Delicious is an understatement. Each meal was well-prepared, well-seasoned and PURELY DELECTABLE. No plate had left-overs for manners stake... We literally "cleaned up". For the really health conscious. the food is not bland neither salty. The portion sizes are small to average which allows you to complete every thing on the plate without even thinking about seconds. We love this place. You can have small plates or a full meal. It's a little pricey for the area but worth it. The food is outstanding and the wine selection is excellent for Long Island. We like to sit at the bar - when the place is crowded it can get very noisy. We try to get there for lunch or early dinner to avoid the crowds. read more

My husband and I went there the Friday before last. We arrived at 8:45PM and stood at the hostess station in the entryway for a while before a waiter ran by and said someone would be right with us. A couple of minutes later, another wait person went by us repeating the same claim. Finally, a good five minutes after our arrival, her highness, the hostess, arrived. She asked if she could help us. We told her we'd like dinner. She looked everywhere except at us while she asked us how many people were in our group. My husband said, "Two." (In fact, we even saw an empty table for two just sitting there.) She looked around again and asked if anyone would be joining us, and he repeated, "No, just two." She proudly announced that she couldn't seat us. We asked how long the wait would be, and she said she wouldn't have a place for us for the rest of the night. Their website states the Friday dinner hours as "5:00PM til Close," so how did she know we'd never get seated? She was rude and dismissive and absolutely turned us off from ever returning. We are Malvernites who were excited to try the new place in town. Now, I can assure you, we will never go back there! P.S. - YELP removed my post twice now. This is a legitimate post and it is purely my opinion. Other users have been able to enter theirs. I gave Uva Rossa no stars, which is what I felt they deserved. We just went to Uva Rosa for the first time tonight. It was pretty crowded for a Wednesday night with only 2 or 3 open tables. The service was great! The menu did not have a million selections but was definitely adequate but then the server came over and went over at least a dozen specials. The mussels were amazing, sauteed brussell sprouts were interesting and different. My dinner special was fettucini in a marsala sauce with flank steak stuffed with spinach and cheese it was amazing and not like anything I have ever had before. I definitely recommend visiting this charming restaurant but definitely don't make up your mind until you hear all of the specials read more

I went there making no reservations. They gave us a table immediately. We were given water and bread. And that is were it ends. We sat for 30 minutes and no one took our order. Disappointed and all the waitress ignoring us, we left. When we left the waitress said have a good night. I told her, you never served us. What a shame. We won't be back. read more

Dined at the service end of the bar with a friend who'd had cocktails only there before. When I ordered a Manhattan w/ a particular vermouth I was advised it would cost a little more which I considered unnecessary info. The apparent owner recognized my friend and ordered his bartender to refill my friends wine glass and suggested the rigatoni with hot sausage and broccoli rabe. My friends dish arrived with a sweet sausage and in a soup of liquid which he returned to be drained. My dish arrived with a broken clamshell on top and in a similar soup mixed with zucchini. The bartender refilled my friends glass while he still had 1/4 of a glass of wine in it. When the check arrived not only were the 2 glasses of wine the bartender and owner volunteered on it but the most expensive item was my Manhattan at $26. When I pointed this out, I was told it was because I ordered an extra shot. How does one order a shot in a Manhattan? After another bogus explanation I asked to speak with the mgr who greeted me with "Is there a problem?" which I thought was very professional!! She then proceeded to "explain" that Michters bourbon was the culprit and that it was "small batch" and not many bars carry it! I almost fell off my stool when I realized that I was able to stumble upon this rare find in of all places Malvern NY! I was about to ask her to double the charge until I realized we weren't talking about Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve. She insisted the charge was fair and I insisted that it had to be an error. She then checked the POS system and to her surprise someone had entered the wrong price for the cocktail! The new check arrived this time the charge was $12. but the pseudo mgr nor the owner were to be seen. So, instead of an apology and attempt at saving a potential customer they lost several by not addressing a problem in a professional manner. Too bad for them. read more

I've been to Uva Rossa twice and the first time I had such a great experience the food was excellent the ambience is amazing a true "wine bar". My second time back I had a bad experience. There is a older man who bartends there and I found him to be very rude and abrupt! I was having drinks with friends and wanted something to "pick" on. He told me there isn't much to pick on here and it's not that kind of place for "finger foods". If I was looking for "finger foods" that would be across the street at Connelly's. I found that to be very unprofessional and down right rude! I wound up ordering pizza and cheese which was amazing. If I wasn't having a great time with friends I would of walked out. The next time if I decide to go back I will NOT allow him to serve me. It's a shame because I really loved the place and a bartender like that would really make me think twice about going back! love this place!!!! food is fresh and delicious. drinks are refreshing and also delicious. stuffed zucchini flowers are outstanding. the chichen scrapariello was awesome. food wise top marks. our waitress/bus boys were attentive. chairs not so comfy & atmosphere is a little noisy. i have been there three times and have never been disappointed. i always try something new and i leave satisfied and happy. great neighborhood restaurant but also worth a ride for non-malverner's. : ) read more
