In the garage, it cost money but it's pretty reasonable. Less than $3 if it's under 2 hrs. I was there for a mammogram, so when you enter the facility, no need to check in at the main door, just follow the sign to Mammogram and check in with the front desk there. Once inside, the tech, Terry walked me to the locker room, gave me a hospital cape, and told me to take off my shirt and bra (if I take off my pants, she's going home. Haha) and put my personal belongings in the locker then head to the waiting room. After that, she walked me to the room and showed me the positions to take the scan. Terry was really nice, friendly and pleasant. The experience was not as bad as I thought. The level of care was superb. I was expecting the worst since I read another Yelpers experience before coming. Almost had me cancelled the appointment but I'm glad I didn't. Terry explained the process and what to expect so I was pretty grateful for a good first time experience.

Practically every Seattle VA Attending doctor is affiliated with the University of Washington Medical School which has an outstanding national reputation. Thanks to changes in policy, you can often get approval to go to a local non-VA doctor or facility for care through VA Community Care. The system is complicated and can be frustrating but there are meetings and resources to help you navigate the best way to get the care you need. The VA knows who my medical insurer is and charges them so I don't have to worry about copays and additional charges that a private facility might think are due. I do pay some for medications but that's nothing compared to never having to pay out of pocket for the care and surgeries that I've had in and through the Seattle VA. I have also been able to use the Seattle VA pool twice a week through the MOVE program and I use a scheduled one hour zoom group exercise program called Gerofit at home twice a week. I recently ended my membership to Curves since I now get my exercise for free.

Then you have to wait weeks for a follow-up with your doctor to give you the results. My GP goes on pregnancy leave for 5 months and the VA never put in a replacement doctor. You had to see the PA or an LPN for care that they didn't have the training to perform. The place was terrible when I got back from Nam. Then it started getting better in the 2000's until Trump. Now its back to being a sh*t-hole again.

I am another patient who followed Joshua from Virginia Mason to his new home at Capitol Hill…read moreMedical. Joshua is probably the first doctor I've found in my life that I can be completely comfortable with talking to about anything and everything. He never makes me feel judged whatever the topic may be and he engages with my interest in deeply understanding my own health metrics and current science and research in an evidence based way. I've found other doctors be annoyed or dismissive when a patient wants to ask questions about their own theories and learn about health and their bodies along the way. Joshua is always patient and willing to talk through things. He genuinely tries to stay at the leading edge of developments and is often aware of new treatments or protocols as soon as they are available, but is also humble enough to be open to learning about things that may not have crossed his radar yet. He has more than once made himself available specially for me when something needed handling and schedules with travel or work were making it difficult. Working with Joshua feels like a genuine partnership on my health and he's helped talk me through concerns about certain medication types that I was hesitant to try but ultimately resulted in some of my health markers being better than they have ever been in my life. If you're LGBT and you get the chance to work with Josh -- just do it. He's a member of a dying breed that we desperately need more of and you would be privileged to be under his care.

And when he moved from VM to Capitol Hill Medical I followed along. Now I happily drive over an hour from my new place to visit him (fortunately this is only needed once or twice a year since we are able to handle most things through Telehealth and portal messages). He's always been super great about listening to my particular concerns, collaborating with me on my care needs, asking what terminology I use for anatomy, and has been super non-judgemental and actually supportive and informative on some of the more difficult topics. A huge difference from most of the medical practitioners I've encountered in the past! I will continue making the trek to see Josh as long as he's still in practice.

I have discovered that Swedish does not handle the billing for emergency room Doctors, Physician Assistants, or Nurse Practitioners. The billing service is performed by an unrelated entity called "Seattle Emergency Physicians Services." PROBLEM: I have never received any billing statement or detailed invoice from you; please email both to me. I've already reached my out-of-pocket maximum for 2025, so I shouldn't be responsible for any medical costs related to my emergency room visit. HORRIBLE PATIENT EXPERIENCE Since I have never received any billing from your office, I do not have (1) a client number or (2) an account number when I tried to set up my profile and provide you with my medical insurance information. (See pasted copy of your website below) This is completely unacceptable. Why wasn't my personal and insurance information provided to your office by Swedish Medical? As a responsible person, I have spent countless hours trying to ensure all my medical bills are paid. Swedish Medical provided me with different phone numbers for "Seattle Emergency Physicians Services." I kept calling and was on hold for over an hour each time. I spent three hours at various Swedish Medical facilities (Broadway and Cherry Hill locations), but no one there could help me. I was told again to contact your office. Now, I am on the phone, waiting once more for someone to answer. Swedish Medical and Seattle Emergency Physicians Services should be ashamed! How could a disabled or elderly person navigate this extremely fragmented and poor-quality billing service?
