As soon-to-be homeowners, we headed into the store this past Saturday during their Grand Opening celebration to check out what they've got in stock and get some ideas for our future home with a focus on paint swatches as a first step to make the place our own. I'm delighted to report that, despite not being as large as their flagship store (so huge it is purportedly America's largest hardware store) they have an excellent variety of items and an equally delightful shopping experience with plenty of helpful staff on hand. Some brands they offer include Yeti, Carhartt, Benjamin Moore paints (which they were giving away free samples of), Stihl (which my husband tells me are among the best outdoor lawn care tools one can buy), Milwaukee tools, Kitchen Aid appliances, DoIt Best hardware and household items, and many many other odds and ends for your home care and repair needs from plumbing to cleaning! They also have some gorgeous outdoor patio examples set up featuring the awesome brick and stone options they have available to help you envision the outdoor multi-tier-pergola living space of my dreams. ;) I really look forward to returning here for various household needs and for 'browsing' some aspirational DIY and other home needs. Kudos to them for repurposing the previous Henry Bierce hardware space in Tallmadge.

The store was well-lit with nice wide aisles so it was easy to navigate a cart. The checkout process was easy too with many lanes open. However, try getting the staff to notice you. It is by appointment ONLY and no one will even tell you this if you are a first time buyer - you might as well be one of the fixtures for all of the attention you will get. That said, once you get an appointment, the sales personnel are very knowledgeable and helpful - until you walk out the door. We had a bathroom remodel and their subcontractor broke the mirror over the sink. Upon calling, they insisted we go through our plumbing contractor (who had nothing to do with this guy). They pass the buck on everything. The subcontractor installed a new counter top and there was fine dust embedded in all of the cabinetry which I still can't get out completely. Our plumber was baffled as to why it would be his problem. Famous has done well and they have become quite arrogant in dealing with customers. I will shop elsewhere next time.
