Walking in, the vibe is chic, cool and stylish. Lighting, seating options and artwork really create a beautiful dining room. Round booths, triangle table and graffiti on the walls predict the kind of experience you'll have. The menu is modern and creative. The bread was so tasty. I went on a Tuesday for Girl Dinner and it was so worth it. You get Caesar salad, meatballs, limoncello burrata, and focaccia with Alfredo sauce for only $45. It's a great deal and the food was fantastic. The service was also excellent. We barely waited 5 minutes before our food came out. The chocolate cake was also excellent for being flourless. They had a dj at the front of the restaurant playing great music! It would be really fun to come here for a birthday or bachelorette party. I don't suggest coming with kids or families as the music is pretty loud and some songs were explicit. Our server was very helpful. He told us to try the meatballs and focaccia as an appetizer and both were great! The meatballs were super tender and the sauce was very fresh and tasty. The focaccia was nothing special, I was hoping for a thicker, more authentic style. But the truffle crema it came with was really good! For the entrees, we split the manicotti and a pizza. The manicotti was good but it was pretty small. Also the Kalamata olives on top were a little random. The pizza was tasty but not amazing. I would have tried a more fun flavor but we just stuck with the margherita. For dessert, we had the baileys tiramisu. It was good and had lots of baileys in the middle! Unfortunately, the food and drinks were a miss for me, and that was ultimately the consensus of our whole party. I had the short ribs with potatoes, and personally wouldn't recommend. With only being open for two months this place really has its act together, I had a 6:30'reservation and we shower up early however because it's so busy we had to wait right to our time slot which is understandable. I had a drink at the bar while I waited which is a little smaller than I expected. When we were seated in the main dining room I noticed how beautifully decorated and modern it felt, Our waitress was very professional, pleasant and was very cognizant of my daughters nut allergy, I had the pleasure of speaking with the GM Eric who was great to talk to, I had the chicken parmigiana which they do a unique take on, it's a chicken thigh that's breaded. I waffle on 4 stars. Yes, this place is gorgeous. Yes, most of the dishes we had were delicious. Our server, Samet, went above and beyond! But, you can see the staff is struggling with understanding some orders, and fully perplexed while explaining to customers that they do not have what is on the menu. This spot is LOUD. Very loud music which causes the customers and staff to talk louder, making a pricey, upscale spot feel more like a sports bar. I hope this becomes the high end gem it could be. The problem we had was that we were there for an anniversary and they sat us right next to all of the other couples in line no privacy no ambience. In order for the waiter to serve the table next to us he had to squeeze in between our table and theirs. The music was way too loud and it didn't really speak of Italian. Went to V Modern Italian the other night and it's definitely more of an experience than just dinner. The vibe is the main draw. Dim lighting, huge chandeliers, music going all night. Feels more like a Miami or NYC spot than Charleston, so not somewhere you go for a quiet meal. Food was really solid. Burrata was great and the bread hit. We got to experience Charleston's newest hot spot restaurant and we had an amazing time. V Modern Italian was a total vibe and full of people enjoying a Friday night dinner, DJ included. The space is huge, with plenty of space for large parties. The decor was super stylish and done in great taste. Service was super on it and made sure we got our food fast (we had a show to get too) so he made sure dishes were coming out in a timely manner. We also got to meet the general manager who was so nice and welcoming. The food was so tasty, we ordered the Tutti antipasti tower, which had amazing breads and burrata cheese. For the salad we went with the cesar and for dinner we ordered the Black Truffle Pipette, which came with Portabella mushrooms in a creamy black truffle sauce and the Salmon which came with a crusty panko crust and Mediterranean herbs - yum! Our dessert was super delicious, but they looked and tasted a little similar so I would maybe switch one and get their gelato. V Modern Italian has been getting a lot of buzz in Charleston, so I was excited to finally check it out with a friend. We had a great experience overall, and the atmosphere alone makes it worth checking out. The space is gorgeous, with an elevated, energetic feel that makes it perfect for a girls' night, date night or celebration. We originally made our reservation for the Girl Dinner experience but ended up ordering from the regular menu as well. The Marinara Meatballs were my favorite bite of the night, and the Char-Grilled Oysters were another standout. Everything was beautifully presented, and we finished the night with the tableside Cannoli Concierge, which was such a fun experience. I also loved the little extras, especially the pop-up flower shop that was part of Girl Dinner. Even with an early reservation, the restaurant was already packed, so I'd definitely recommend making reservations. Overall, V Modern Italian is a fun addition to Charleston's dining scene. The beautiful space, lively atmosphere and thoughtful touches make the experience feel like more than just dinner. I'd definitely go back, especially to try more of the menu. Mixed feelings on this review so bare with me on the ups and downs. Walking into the restaurant I was very impressed with the decor. It was absolutely beautiful. It did take us a while to figure out what door to enter in. So it would be nice to have a sign printed on the glass of the door that says the name of the restaurant. We came here for our anniversary and expected a very special night. Since we did indicate that on a reservation, I was expecting a little bit more private table and not in the middle of several other tables on the booth bench. We did walk by several other table options that would have been suitable. I guess I should have indicated that in our reservation;but, I did not know the layout of the restaurant in order to determine a good table for us to have dinner. I was also trying to be a good guest and not complain about the table that was given to us. On hindsight, I probably should have said something to the host attendee. Our server, Justin, was amazing! He was very friendly, not overly attentive, and a joy to converse with. The first thing I notice as we were waiting on our cocktails, is that the music in the restaurant was very loud and it sounded like we were just listening to the top 40 on the radio. It was not impressive and it kind of ruined the atmosphere of the restaurant. I believe a different type of music would be more appropriate... instrumental, perhaps. And then turn it down as it supposed to be in the background, not centerstage.. Because the music was so loud, everybody in the restaurant had to talk louder in order to be heard, thus the volume in total made it difficult to talk and enjoy our dining experience. Cocktails..I got the Going Coastal with Lunazul Blanco Tequila, Italicus, Hibiscus Strawberry syrup, Lime juice, Mezcal float. Yummy! My husband got the Dolce Vita..Pineapple, agave, lime juice, almond, orange flower and Gin. It was also very good. We got the Scampi Di V for our appetizer. It was good, but they left the tails on the shrimp. Its easier to eat with them off. The serving size was enough for 2 people. For dinner, my husband got the Barolo Braised short rib that came with a side of roasted potatoes topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese. It was really nice and tender and had a good flavor; however, we had a better short rib at the Select restaurant that previously occupied this restaurant space. Per the recommendation of our server, Justin, I got the branzino. Loved it! The fish was cooked to perfection with the crispy skin and topped with capers and kalamata olives. I don't even like kalamata olives; but, they were definitely needed to cut the richness of the fish and sauce. For dessert, another recommendation from our server, we got the tiramisu. It was very good, but slightly sweeter than I expected. Like I said, our server, Justin was amazing. So recommendations to the restaurant.. Too many tables along the booth bench. We couldn't have a private conversation without both tables on either side of us knowing everything we're talking about that's if they could hear us over the music. Second, the pacing in between our dishes should have been a little bit more spaced out. We just finished our appetizer and then the dinner came out. And then shortly after that, our dessert came out. So slow up the pace. I don't like being rushed when I'm paying high dollar for food and service. Hopefully with a few little tweaks, this restaurant will be much better in the future. read more

Vibrant, stunning decor, loud, and fun! The interior seating has so many options, and our 4 top enjoyed a table under one of the trees. Our server was friendly but was distracted at times with his other tables. We went all out with our friends and enjoyed cocktails, a starter, and each of us ordered a pasta entree. I came to V Modern Italian with friends. We were seated at a booth overlooking the bar. The decor was very cool: they have stunning chandeliers, botanical greenery, a climate-controlled wine wall, and very cool Roman-themed murals. Most surprising to me was the music: I thought it was a hip Pandora playlist, but there was actually a live DJ in the front corner of the restaurant (which explains why it was so good!) However, I would suggest sitting further into the restaurant though, as chatting with friends required loud voices due to our proximity to the DJ. In terms of food, the antipasti tower was great. While the bread is not a true crostini, it was still absolutely delicious and perfect for sharing and building your own bruschetta. For my cocktail, I got the Hugo Spritz with St. Germain. It tasted like an elevated/more refreshing glass of champagne. My friends also ordered the Roman Mule and the Going Coastal, which both met their approval. For mains, I got the Vodka Rosa, which was DELICIOUS--highly recommend! We also split an arugula salad, meat-lovers pizza, Margherita pizza, and another friend ordered the peach salad with a 4oz added piece of salmon. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We were so full, we sadly couldn't fit in dessert. At one point during dinner, a server may have incorrectly overheard our reviews of the food (for some reason he thought we didn't like it) and rushed over to make it better and brought us the most delicious cesar salad dressing! You can really taste the anchovy in there! It just shows how attentive they are and how much they actually care about their customers! Our bill, attached to this review, was $304.70 without tax and tip: HOWEVER, there is a way to save $$$! (MAY ONLY BE AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME!) We checked out V Modern after hearing it was supposed to have a Miami-inspired vibe. While I wouldn't quite compare it to Miami, it definitely has a fun, energetic atmosphere. The music is loud and the restaurant has a lively crowd, so it's a great spot if you're looking for a night out...but probably not the best place if you want to have a conversation across the table. Our server, Jay, was fantastic. He took the time to walk us through the menu, answered our questions, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. We started with the charbroiled oysters, which were flavorful and one of my favorite dishes of the night. I ordered the Barolo Braised Short Rib with a glass of rose. The short rib had good flavor, but I think it could have been braised a bit longer to make it more tender. It was served with rosemary potatoes on the side, but I really think creamy mashed potatoes would have been a much better pairing to soak up the rich Barolo sauce. The Caesar salad was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the service was the highlight of our experience, and the atmosphere is fun if you're looking for upbeat nightlife. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences my husband, best friend, and I have ever had. We started with the meatballs and the focaccia with truffle sauce. The meatballs were probably the best thing we ate all night, but even they weren't great. The focaccia was just okay. For our entrees, we ordered the lobster ravioli, manicotti, and Margherita pizza. The lobster ravioli had virtually no lobster and very little flavor. The manicotti was completely bland and wasn't even served hot. The Parmesan cheese on top wasn't melted, which honestly made it seem like the dish had barely been heated before being brought to the table. The Margherita pizza was by far the worst. All three of us took one bite and left the rest of it untouched. None of us wanted another bite. We've been fortunate enough to eat Italian food throughout the U.S. and in Italy, so we certainly weren't expecting every dish to taste exactly like something we've had elsewhere. But we did expect good, properly prepared food especially at this price point. Unfortunately, this fell incredibly short. On top of the food being disappointing, the entire meal felt rushed. For what we paid, we expected to at least be able to sit down, enjoy dinner, and have a nice experience.
