I was able to coordinate the arrival of his flight to our reservation time, and it worked out perfectly! My son arrived just a few minutes before us. He followed us into the parking garage designated for the restaurant (free for 2 hours with validation). She was completely unaware as he walked up to her car door and tapped on the window. As you can imagine, she screamed with happiness! This was the start to our wonderful time at V Modern. It was busy for a Wednesday night. The music was loud as we walked in but nicely muted at our table (11) behind the bar. Our server Stef was engaging and attentive. While going over the menu, we spoke briefly about our visit to Nashville and our daughter finishing her Master's program. He mentioned that he had finished his studies as well. Happy congratulations all around! We started with the Focaccia Tartufata and Marinara Meatballs -- delicious! Save some of the bread to pick up all that tasty marinara! For our mains -- Black Truffle Pipette, Scampi Moderni and Lobster Ravioli. The pastas in all our dishes were perfectly sauced and al dente. Nice portions and lovely presentations. Dessert was festive with the Cannoli Concierge. A server arrived with a tray lit with sparklers. Each cannoli was then customized and prepared tableside. Our son opted for the gelato. As we finished, Stef let us know that the cannolis were complimentary in celebration of our daughter. :) Beautiful restaurant with upscale decor. Ample seating inside and outside. Excellent service. Just a minor note that it got a bit hot at one point during our dinner. As we looked around, other customers were fanning themselves. It seemed that the a/c may have turned off. V Modern Italian The restaurant itself is beautiful and "modern" designed as the name suggests. It is very well designed and definitely ~feels~ upscale. We started off with a big espresso martini tower. There were 12 drinks and they were strong, the only downside was the size was maybe 6-8oz and the price was pretty staggering at $150 but that is mostly for show, so to be expected. Next we got Meatballs as an appetizer. I would say there's nothing too special about these (which will be mirrored by most things later.) The meatballs tasted ~fine~, there wasn't anything special but also nothing off putting about it. For the main dishes I got the Black Truffle Pipette for $32. The dish came with braised short rib, but it was pretty disappointing with the portion of short rib. There were maybe 2 good bites of short rib in the entire dish. I also didn't get much of any black truffle taste, the pasta itself was somewhat bland in general. The next dish was Manicotta Della Casa for $23. This dish is hard to explain as it has a lot going on but essentially tastes like a pizza with all the toppings scraped off in a dish together with no crust. It wasn't bad by any means just a little interesting. Overall this was my second impression of the place, I haven't been impressed either time to be honest. I knew it was going to be like this due to the "tourist trap" energy it gives off. Was excited to try this place as it's newer to town and I have heard the restaurant itself was beautiful. Man, was I surprised to learn that the new and beautiful Italian restaurant is really nothing more than a night club that serves meatballs. There are massive speakers on the ceiling and we literally sat next to a DJ, complete with an entire DJ booth set up, that was playing club music at club volume while we ate our meal. The first time was over the summer for just a girls night to grab dinner and drinks, and the second time was to celebrate our engagement anniversary (December). I've gotten the same pizza both times, so there's one way to state that it really is that good. The pasta, braised short ribs, apps, and desserts, I really haven't had a bad item here. I see bad reviews and I just can't speak to that. I have only been in parties of 2, so maybe it's harder when a larger group? But that's solely me just speculating. It's also GORGEOUS in here. I think the patio is the perfect place to sit when the weather is nice, but also being indoors during Christmas and seeing all of their decorations were great too. I am from Florida and will be traveling to Nashville for my 21st birthday. I specifically wanted to celebrate with a dinner at this restaurant, so I tried multiple ways to make a reservation and get in contact with someone. I have contacted the restaurant at least 40 times, left multiple voicemails for both the restaurant and the manager, sent Instagram DMs, sent emails, and even booked a table through the website. It has now been over three weeks, and I still have not received a single response or any form of communication. I completely understand that restaurants can be busy, but going three weeks without any response after making this many attempts is extremely disappointing, especially when I was trying to plan something important for my 21st birthday. The lack of communication and customer service has unfortunately completely changed my opinion of the restaurant before I have even had the opportunity to dine there. The descriptions were accurate. The space is quite pretty & the seating & tables give a modern upscale aesthetic but the vibe is more business causal than cocktail imho. The service stellar with our server giving us plenty of time to have drinks & conversation in between starters & entrees. There was never the feeling of being rushed even though we probably spent nearly 3 hours here. I let our server choose my cocktail & my entree & her choices were excellent. For starters we tried the focaccia & the bruschetta. Both were good enough but nothing incredible. I had the Fior Di Basilica cocktail (chosen by my server) it was light, fruity, & refreshing. For my main the Glazed pork chop was chosen. This was one of the most perfectly prepared pork dishes I've had in town. The balsamic glaze & roasted potatoes were perfect with the sizeable pork shank. I began with their standard espresso martini, which offered a robust, dynamic duo of flavors from the Evil Bean coffee liqueur and espresso. To start, we ordered the Focaccia Tasting, which consisted of warm rosemary focaccia bread and sides of balsamic olive oil and house marinara for dipping. The bread was delicious -- cooked perfectly -- slightly crispy on the edges and warm and fluffy inside. The bread paired well with the olive oil and marinara. For my entrée, I ordered the Black Truffle Pipette. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The sauce was delicious, but the black truffle was subdued. And the dish had only a few roasted portobello mushrooms, which was disappointing. Regardless, it was so good and the perfect size -- it left me satisfied but not stuffed. For dessert, I tried the Baileys Tiramisu. It was definitely a unique take on the classic. Rather than coming in traditional cake form, it was served in a glass and comprised of mascarpone cream, Baileys-soaked chocolate cake and cocoa powder. I thought the dish was overpowered by the mascarpone cream, which seemed to dominate the dish. The chocolate cake seemed more like crumbs on the bottom of the glass, and I didn't taste a hint of Baileys. However, the cocoa powder on top paired well with the mascarpone. In hindsight, I should have ordered the almond cake. I loved the decor and ambiance inside the restaurant. I felt cramped navigating between the tables, but everyone was mindful of the limited space, so it wasn't much of an inconvenience. Our waiter was fantastic, and I was amazed by how quickly our drinks and food were brought to the table (in courses, not all at once, thankfully). Graffiti on the walls, so many plants everywhere it's like walking through a jungle, today's hit music playing and then a "show" at night which was just waiters dancing around waving napkins.
