It's ran by chef Sean Brock featuring Neo- Neopolitan style Pizza featuring a Chef's counter where you can watch the staff cutting fresh ingredients, forming dough and making pizzas in the open kitchen. They use high quality ingredients including DOP Buffalo Mozzarella and Fiore Di Latte flown in from Italy weekly. They have a list in the kitchen of where they get locally and globally sourced ingredients. They ferment their dough for 3 days and use a Wood Fired Oven to cook their delicious pizzas. They serve Snacks, Salads, Wood Fired Pizzas and a couple Desserts. The interior has a sleek and modern feel along with some outdoor tables and a covered patio. They have a full bar and validate parking for 1 1/2 hours. The staff were super nice and we chatted with some of the chef's while they were in front of us cutting bread and forming dough. It was a Very cool and nice dining experience. To finish the review-- The Pizzas are about 12 inches round and I would recommend making reservations if you want to sit at the chef's counter. I came in around 3:30pm for an early dinner. At this time of day, there was plenty of table and patio seating! We were seated at the bar which was fun because the restaurant has a cool vibe where you can watch the cooks prepare the food in front of you. For drinks, we ordered the Limonata and the Yuzu Arnold Palmer which were both refreshing for a hot day but I was disappointed to find out there were no happy hour specials going on and their drinks are fairly pricey. We started off with the Caesar salad, like everyone says, it may have been the best Caesar salad I've ever had! We also ordered two pizzas: the God father and the current Sho-Stopper (forgot the name) which notably had Calabrian chiles, pickled onion, meat similar to salami and some other toppings. The Godfather was amazing, but the Sho-Stopper was a little bit lacking in my opinion. I was expecting it be a little more balanced between the toppings with the spiciness of the chilies, but it was overall just HOT. I tried dipping it in their miso ranch to offset the spiciness, but I felt that the ranch flavor did not complement the flavors on the pizza. However, I think if a pizza is really good quality, it shouldn't need any help from the ranch to taste better, which SHO definitely had really great quality pizza. My opinions about the Sho-Stopper do not discredit the quality of this restaurant at all, I am sure that they have a lot of other options I would like way more and I just shouldn't have picked a super spicy pizza if that's not the flavor profile I was looking for. Also, the strawberry pannacotta was delish and reminded me of a mature, high quality version of a strawberry shortcake push pop. read more

I don't usually update my review so soon after my initial visit ... but I just have to say that their current Sho-Stopper is a MUST-TRY. My husband and I have been back to Sho a handful of times since our first meal there, and we are slowly working our way through their menu. The Caesar is still our favorite in town, and the Matcha Tiramisu is a fun take on the Italian classic. However, the purpose for this review is to petition Sho to add their current Sho-Stopper to their regular menu. It's called "Wedding Crasher" and it is truly the best pie we've had there (and trust me when I say we love their regular menu features too!) It's made with a vodka sauce, and it's honestly the perfect mix of spicy and cheesy. So Sho team, if you're reading this, the Wedding Crasher is amazing! We loved it and will be back again soon. It took me almost a year to make it to Sean Brock's Sho Pizza Bar in East Nashville, but wow, when I made it last week, I was blown away. It was overall one of the best meals I've had in town. More than just "a pizza place," it's a fabulous restaurant experience, with every detail carefully considered and executed. No wonder Sho was just awarded a 2025 Michelin Bib Gourmand designation. Chef Brock reinterprets Neapolitan tradition with inspiration from pizza he encountered in Tokyo, the name "Sho" coming from the Japanese word shokunin, meaning a deep devotion to one's craft. The dough is cold-fermented for 72 hours in a glass-enclosed "laboratory-like" clean-room. It provides an airy yet chewy crust that's served with char from the Stefano Ferrara Forni wood-fired oven. The glass-walled area also displays provenance of pretty much everything in restaurant - the cheeses, meats, vegetables and even the firewood used here. (It reminded me a bit of the lobby at the original Husk). When, not if, you go, you MUST sit at the 12-seat chef's counter. You get a front row seat to the pizza-making process, watching dough being gently shaped in a unique sort of process... and pies sliding into the fire. My server Liz was really great - friendly, attentive, and polished without any sort of stuffiness. While pizza is the star, the few other items we tried were also delicious. My husband and I went to Sho Pizza on a Monday night and honestly... best decision ever. Loved loved loved the place. Definitely make a reservation. The place isn't very big and it gets busy (even on a Monday), but booking is super easy. We've followed Chef Sean Brock for a while, so it was such a cool surprise to see him there that night, not only cooking but also mixing music. The vibe was so fun and relaxed. We sat at the pizza bar so we could watch everything happen, and I highly recommend doing that. Service was great, very laid back, nothing fancy or over-the-top, just good people who clearly care about the food, which if you ask me, it's the way to go. We had to start with the Caesar since it's their most famous appetizer. It lives up to the hype, and the cheese. As for the pizza, it is Neo- Napolitano style. High-quality ingredients, beautiful cold fermented dough, and thoughtful combinations. Loved the board where they list all of their ingredients providers and where it comes from. We got the Super Marg (basically a Margherita with mozzarella di bufala) and the Bianca Pizza; garlic cream sauce, buffalo mozzarella DOP, asiago, lemon, EVOO. I saw Sho Pizza Bar recommended online and decided to give it a try for lunch. Since it was a last-minute decision, we didn't make reservations, and when we arrived, the restaurant was fully booked. Thankfully, their patio is available for walk-ins, so after a wait, we were able to get a table. I'm glad we stuck it out because I was not disappointed. We ordered the mushroom pizza and the Margherita pizza, and both were absolutely delicious. The real highlight for me, though, was the Caesar salad. It was incredible. It was so refreshing and well balanced - a perfect drink for a hot humid day. Food: Heirloom corona beans 5/5, the beans were creamy, asparagus was snappy, pesto was bright and herbaceous, and the kale was tender and earthy. I kept the bowl to dip my pizza crusts. Mushroom pizza, 4.5/5 - the lemon is necessary to break up the richness. I think a sprinkle of chili flakes or even a drizzle of some spicy Tuscan olive oil after the oven could have made it a perfect pie. The crust was great. I recently heard about this Sean Brock project and was intrigued. My husband and I chose a weeknight reservation to see what all the hype was about. We were seated at a cozy spot inside immediately, despite a busy dining room. I love pizza of all types, but it's not often you stumble upon a local place that is committed to an authentic Neapolitan pie. From the wood-fired bubbly crust to the water buffalo mozzarella, this eatery stays true to Naples, the birthplace of pizza! We ordered: -super margherita: a classic Neapolitan pie I will come back to over and over. Sho's version of the tomato sauce was a little sour for my taste, but overall a 8/10 flavor wise. Crust and cheese 10/10. -Bianca (with added bacon): I loved these flavor combinations, though I felt the extra EVOO created a bit of a messy eating experience. -miso ranch dip: I enjoyed this with my crust, but will probably skip it next time or try another dip. We had a wonderful dining experience at sho. My family took my mom out for dinner for Mother's Day. Total we had three adults and two children. We had a reservation for the patio. We were quickly told about complementary parking and set to our table. We started with bread and ordered pizzas. We shared three different pizzas and enjoyed all of them. My mushroom was a standout! We came here while visiting Nashville. Thankfully we got here early and were able to snag a spot at the bar. Note that parking is near impossible here and had to park down the street and walk. To start we got espresso martinis, meatballs, and salad. The espresso martini was definitely not strong and had a weird taste like not enough coffee was used. The meatballs and salad were phenomenal. The meatballs were huge and the extra sauce and dollop of cheese made it a perfect combination. The salad was covered with cheese and had fresh crispy salad and croutons. For pizza we got the godfather. I could not recommend anything more! The crust was light and crunchy and coated in butter. The balsamic and cheese on top of all the meat toppings together created a great flavor combination. We were so excited to have left overs. Overall this place is a 10/10. I didn't think I would be able to make it to Sho Pizza Bar during any of my three full days in Nashville given how it's one of the city's hottest restaurants. Luckily, I happened to check the reservation site on the Saturday and managed to snag a spot for 5PM on Sunday. When we arrived right before 5, the tiny parking lot was already completely full. We circled the block and when we got back, luckily a car pulled out. Moving inside, the decor and furniture is all pretty high end modern and I especially love how open the kitchen is. I also love how down to earth this place is; unlike a lot of more traditional Neapolitan places that ooze pretentiousness. Sho Pizza claims high quality but doesn't overembellish. We sat at the bar, so we had a direct view of the pizza dough maestro tossing out fresh crusts. They have a really great workflow; unlike other Neapolitan (or Neapolitan-ish) places I've visited where it can take 30-40 minutes to receive a pizza, ours only took about 10 even with how busy everything was. Sho Pizza Bar is one of a couple of places I've visited that serves pizza whole and allows customers to cut to taste with a pair of pizza shears. Margherita ($19.50) - Oh my god, just look at that rise on the cornicione. It's rare in the US to see such a stunning crust; that pillowy, chewy, extra risen dough that creates an exceptionally developed flavor, further enhanced with the smoke and crisp of the leopard spotting. This is pizza perfection. Now the rest of the pizza? Firstly, I commend them on not overloading this delicate crust. While floppy (expected), they balance the sauce and toppings perfectly, allowing everything to stay adhered while eating, and the crust to stay relatively dry rather than soggy. The toppings include the classics plus some modern additions. There's a smattering of basil, fresh herbal tasting, with some char from the high heat of the oven drying it out to a papery crisp. There's both mozzarella, rich and stretchy, and the addition of plenty of sprinkled Parmigiano Reggiano, aged until clear tyrosine crystal umami bursts out on the tongue. The drizzle of high quality EVOO adds a dynamic peppery taste that's underscored by slices of garlic. The sauce isn't a slouch either - plenty sweet with only a slightly tart profile. The one negative - they sprinkle dried herbs on top of the sauce, which is somewhat overwhelming. For a margherita pizza, I really want to taste the fresh flavors of tomato and basil and unfortunately the sprinkle of dried herbs is too much for my tastes. Interestingly enough, I had a piece left over and the next day when I got home, I air fried it. The taste of the dried herbs was not nearly as strong, and instead the fresh tomato sauce and basil really came out. Very interesting (and delicious). (5/5) Slowburn ($27) - This was one of the two specials of the day at Sho. This one I felt was a little less balanced than the margherita, combining a bunch of heavy, wet and moisture-full ingredients, causing the center crust to become soggy and the toppings to fall off left and right while trying to transfer slices over. The chef includes a ton of green onion segments that, while fragrant from being quick-roasted in the oven, have residual water. It doesn't help that they are cylindrical, a shape which assists in their quick rolling exit off the pizza. Adding to the sogginess is plenty of natural liquid in cilantro, and tons of mild taleggio cream as the base. They also add poblanos and hatch chiles, which I'm not sure are drained adequately or not, that add a certain smoky and vegetal element along with just a hint of heat. The beef bacon (lardons, really) is unique and very delicious. It's a really fatty, almost cured in texture, not too salty, with a ton of natural beef marrow-type of flavor, rich, reminding me of a concentrated roasted beef bone broth. While somewhat soggy, the pizza coats the mouth in rich cream, which almost reminds me of a cream of leek soup. The pizza comes with a wedge of lime, providing a hit of refreshing acidity as the pizza leans deliciously on the unctuous side of the platonic ideal pizza. I think julienning the green onion would help address some issues in an otherwise awesome combination. With all that being said, this is still an excellent pizza. (5/5) I saw several parties not eat the crust. It boggles the mind - why even visit this restaurant, one that specializes in crust, in the first place? Sho PIzza Bar must run into this often enough that they offer crust dipper sauces, although in my opinion, the crust is so good by itself there's no need for sauce. It's only March and I'm ready to declare Sho Pizza as my restaurant of the year. I love, love, love this place. It's a must visit anytime I'm in town in the future. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms. There is plenty of parking outside. I recommend getting a reservation, but I've always been seated when I don't have one. I love how open the kitchen is and that the farms etc where the ingredients are sourced are written on the glass for us to see. I've never had anything bad here. I love the Little Gem salad. I love pizza and have so missed the European crust that most American pizzerias can't yield. Sho is different! The star of the pizza was definitely the crust. Crisp enough to not fold in half without a little crunch yet soft enough to still be chewy and pillowy soaking up the sauce and fresh ingredients! We went with the Employee Discount and added garlic butter on the crust. I typically love a good garlic butter but with Sho I wouldn't recommend. I feel the flavors of the garlic butter overpowered the vodka sauce with tomato and basil leaving every bite tasting of garlic rather than getting to taste each individual flavor. The service was great and we were seated quickly outside on a nice Saturday afternoon. Our pizza also arrived fairly quickly which was great! The vibes are upscale cafe chic with marble and bright blue with a great large indoor bar. I loved that they were dog friendly outside which is an added perk! Parking is tricky and you may have to circle a few times but not impossible. Price range is definitely high for nearly $30 a 10" pie is at about 6 slices or $5 per slice. My friends had been raving about this place so we came here on a recent trip to Nashville. Get your reservations! The ambiance is typical of a casual pizza place, a little crowded and noisy to be expected. Started on a high note, ended on a low. This place has been on my list for a while but I'm not in this area often so just got around to trying it. Went for lunch and it was pretty empty inside. I thought the interior was inviting and liked the glass behind the pizza bar listing all the food vendors. There was a crazy amount of flies inside and they didn't have any fly fans to mitigate this. The appetizers we got here were the best bites we had. Their current seasonal stracciatella with the squash was f'n delicious! Beautifully balanced. Also, the raw tuna with puffed rice was lovely. The biggest issue here? Unfortunately what the entire restaurant is focused around: the pizza. We ordered the white pizza and the salumi. While the flavors were there, the pizza seemed undercooked and was a literal sloppy mess. It was unappetizing for real. The salumi was even worse than the white pizza, it had absolutely no structure and just a mushy hot mess once cut with the scissors to eat. We didn't say anything as we didn't want to wait for them to make another pizza and it prob be the same story. We were shocked. We left most of it. Also was excited to try the matcha tiramisu but it tasted like regular tiramisu with a heavy dark chocolate flavor. It was just ok in our opinion. We started off loving the place and quickly went to probably not returning. Also, 2 small apps, 2 personal pizzas & matcha tiramisu was $120 for lunch. I'm ready to declare my unchecked love and devotion for Sho Pizza. This was mine and my friend's first time at the pizza shop and wow were we impressed! The hostess and waitress were so kind, the seasonal cocktail I had was delicious and the pizza? Mouthwatering. We ordered the Godfather and Salumi pizzas to share and while they're completely opposite palate-wise, both are cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself is pretty intimate and I don't think you could comfortably sit 30 people, but I think that enhances the experience. Definitely make a reservation - the place books up, and no wonder why. Staff are friendly, vibes are energetic, food is fab. Our server was really sweet- described the menu and made some great recommendations. We split the composed beet salad (very pretty) and caesar salad (loved the brioche croutons and katsuobushi flakes). Both were tasty and good for sharing. Supermarg, bianca, and mushroom pizzas were all fantastic. Small enough that you can order a few with a group that likes to share. Chewy, flavorful crust and great toppings. Wow! This is the best restaurant we've been to in a while. The pizza crust stayed crispy and chewy until the very last bite. The heirloom beans were huge, but so creamy. Tuna crudo was a little watery, but still delicious. The crust dippers are a must since the crust was so heavenly. Definitely would be happy to come back. read more

I had a fantastic pizza at Sho Pizza Bar! The Wurst is the best! This was one of the "Sho-Stopper" special pizzas, and it was delicious. I just wish I could remember what all the toppings were, but it was a beer-cheese sauce with sausage and peppers and some other stuff. It was delicious. They make a *really* big deal about their dough here, and with good reason. It is perhaps the most authentically Italian-style crusts I've had outside of Italy. It has that sort of chewy/gummy (in a good way!) bite to it, and was really good. The service was friendly and helpful. I opted to sit at the bar since I was on my own, and several of the staff offered suggestions on the menu. That led me to opt for the Calabrian Chili Honey "crust dip" they offer. It added a nice kick! I'm glad I stumbled upon this great pizza spot when I just happened to be in the neighborhood. Anytime I find myself on that side of the Cumberland River I'll definitely have to stop in for another pizza! It would be great if they added a gluten-free crust option, even though it would pretty much be impossible to have it be as good as their very glutenous crust. read more

Mood: Pizza and vibes Love this atmosphere and the vibes to match. Really a bright, open space for pizza made in your face. Really enjoyed the customer service, cleanliness, and chefs hooking up the goodness. On such a beautiful day this spot is at capacity. Sttracciatella Brushetta: 7/10- really fresh, homemade and on the sweet side which gave it a nice kick. Could have used more herbs or seasoning for flavor. Salumi 10/10 adding the hot honey was the best decision Italian sausage 8/10 was really good overall Using scissors was a cool concept and the food was good. Post ice storm, I came to Sho Pizza for a bit of celebration, yup 60. We had a fun time and really enjoyed to casual atmosphere and chat with the server. Half of our party was running late but we were still seated. True we were there during a down time but they were very accommodating for a half hour delay. The salads, caesar and beet, are excellent and the presentation is beautiful. The flavors of the pizza are excellent. I am even going to try roasting mushrooms at home to add to a home-cooked pizza. Hopefully we can recrate the flavor. My downer was the thinness of the crust. It was so thin that there was no way to get a slice from the pan to you plate without it folding under and dropping the front half of the toppings. Since you cut the pizza with scissors, the fold starts before you can get a knife under the slice for support. Other patrons looked to be folding the slices in half, not my preferred eating habit. Just too thin on the crust. read more
