Having two full master bedrooms gave my wife and me tons of space, and our 15-year-old son loved having a proper, high-end bedroom to himself instead of a pullout couch. Points-wise, it was an incredible redemption. That said, if you're paying cash, bringing a larger group to split a flat or house would make the value even better. The location is extremely convenient--about 25 minutes from MCO airport, 16 minutes from the Orange County Convention Center, 15 minutes to Disney, and 23 minutes to Universal. Resort & Vibe: The resort hits you with a serious "wow" factor right when you drive through the front gates--it feels like stepping into a lush, tropical world. We arrived early in the morning well before check-in, but Allison at the front desk was so welcoming and did a great job accommodating us while we waited. The Lagoon & Food: The Evermore Bay lagoon was extraordinary, especially for our teenager. Between the watersports, rope swing, and waterslide (a total 10/10 according to my son), there was endless fun. It was our first time paddleboarding, and the staff made us feel right at ease. Food-wise, we didn't expect much from a resort food court, but we were blown away by the smash burgers and Ahi Tuna Poké bowls--they became our daily go-to items. Huge shoutout to Kimmy bartending at one of the outdoor mobile vans. She brought such a bright, bubbly, positive energy to our day, even while battling the Florida heat and wasps! The Golf Experience: As ~20 handicappers, both courses were immaculate and a fun challenge. However, customer service was a tale of two different worlds: Cypress Course: Beautiful layout (the Sawgrass #17 replica was awesome!). Our starter, Jimmy, was top-tier and gave us incredible island-style hospitality. Since we were playing in a foursome with my 82-year-old father, Jimmy thoughtfully suggested that if the faster group behind us caught up, we should let them play through so we could enjoy our family time without feeling rushed. Looking back, Jimmy was 100% right--we maintained a steady pace, and the group behind us never ended up pressing us anyway. Unfortunately, Jimmy's supervisor/boss approached us from the very start with a bad attitude. When we paused to let that group pass and I mentioned, "Well, Jimmy told us..." he cut me off with, "WELL I'M JIMMY'S BOSS!" and scolded us to keep up with the group ahead. On a family resort where people pay top dollar to make memories, his approach lacked basic customer service and tact. We had a similarly cold experience with the head pro shop manager (listed as "MBYERS" on our receipt). A little warmth goes a long way. Grand Links Course: We came back Sunday before our flight to play Links, and it was night-and-day! Before our round, I even went out of my way to swing by Cypress just to thank Jimmy again for his hospitality earlier in the week. Over at Grand Links, Vince and Caroline at the front desk set a fantastic tone, Braden had our bags dialed in, and Mike gave us a great course orientation. After the round, Caroline went above and beyond. I realized I lost my headcover, which turned out to be found by the group behind us. Caroline immediately radioed it in, located it, and without hesitation offered to fetch it. Since we were in a time crunch before our flight, she even met us at the food court with it. That proactive service did not go unnoticed! Final Verdict: Evermore is world-class when it comes to the lagoon, villas, and course conditions. I will definitely be back for the golf--hopefully next time, management on the golf side takes a page out of Caroline and Jimmy's book!

The Berkley ended up being my choice. I rented a unit with two king beds and two twin beds. As soon as we entered, our jaws dropped. The unit was massive and an obvious upgrade from staying at a common Holiday Inn. The beds and pillows were comfy and we had plenty of room to spread out in the living room and in the one king bedroom that we used. The room with the twin beds was smaller than the two rooms with the king beds, but the kids were only in there to sleep so it wasn't a problem. While I spent one of the days at the Kennedy Space Center, my wife and kids stayed back to play in the pool and use some of the resort's amenities. The shallow end of the pool was in the shade in the morning, which my wife appreciated. The arcade didn't have a ton of games that interested them, but having some games to play was better than having none. On that day the resort was doing a cash bingo event and, even though my wife and kids were the only ones that showed up to play, the staff still held the event for the three of them. Very considerate service. Unfortunately The Berkley is not super close to Disney, which means you have to deal with a 20+ minute drive to and from because of bad traffic and/or construction. Also, they don't have continental breakfast or a restaurant on site so you have to leave or order delivery if you want food from a restaurant. The unit did have a full kitchen, though, so you can always buy supplies and cook for yourself instead.

We were celebrating my granddaughter's fifth birthday, my grandchildren enjoyed the resort, and we were grateful to be in Florida making family memories. Those happy moments deserve acknowledgment--but so do the problems. The property is beautiful, the family amenities are thoughtfully planned, and the pool is the heart of the fun. The hot tub and convenient location were highlights, too. However, there were real cracks beneath the beautiful aesthetics. We initially stayed in a two-bedroom villa in Building 7. It felt dated, the carpet was visibly dirty, the garbage disposal did not work, and the space smelled very damp. We went out and purchased Lysol and a moisture-absorbing product to try to make it more comfortable. That should not be on a guest's vacation shopping list. There was also excrement left in the primary bathroom toilet when we arrived. It took more than two hours and a second phone call before someone came to clean it. Later, while I was showering, my mother saw an unidentified animal inside her bedroom. We ended up relocating after the first night from the two-bedroom villa to a smaller suite. Given these issues and the change in accommodations, we expected a price adjustment or some gesture acknowledging the inconvenience. No compensation was offered--not even covering parking. Checkout brought more frustration. We had questions about the room-price difference and the balance we expected back after incidental charges. The front desk gave an explanation involving our third-party booking, but it was not clear to us and did not resolve our concerns. No manager was brought over to help. We left feeling unheard. The food and drinks we tried were not a highlight, either. My apple martini was nothing to write home about. I can appreciate the wonderful time my grandchildren had and still be honest about where the resort fell short. A beautiful pool does not replace a clean, well-maintained room or attentive service when things go wrong. Auntie D's rating: Three out of five forks. Firstly.....this place is GOR.GEOUS. The spanish/Mexican/Southwestern theming is beyond beautiful. The layout is nice, with the Three Bridges tying everything together. The pool here is top notch and there are a multitude of food options. (More on this in a second...) About the pool, it is HUMONGOUS, and exquisitely themed, with a huge Mayan temple and super long "Jaguar slide." The hot tube is the biggest in all of Disney, and there is a playground adjacent to the pool. There is only a TINY, non descript basically toddler splash pad, and no water play area for the kids though. Everyone complains about the busses because of the size of the resort, but that wasn't nearly as big an issue as it's made out to seem. (There IS an issue with the busses, but again....give me a second.) I wasn't able to see the actual rooms at Coronado as, again, I stayed at the Gran Destino Tower, but if they look half as nice on the inside as they do the outside you should be fine. Seriously, this place is visually stunning. The knocks are few, but potentially big. First and foremost, the El Mercado quick service dining is, in Coronado Springs parlance, BASURA. Absolute trash. The main dining facility of Coronado is almost inedible. LUCKILY, you have other options within literal feet of El Mercado (in Rix sports bar, and Maya Grill,) and then the Three Bridges Bar and Grill a quick stroll away. Hell, even eating at Siestas pool bar is 100 times better than El Mercado. The food at El Mercado was just terrible. We ate there once, and then never again. The choices are terrible, the execution much much worse, and the price was way too much for the quality you get. For literally a few dollars more, you can get a MUCH better meal elsewhere. The Barcelona LOUNGE; a literal bar in the Gran Destino Tower, served a better breakfast sandwich than the MAIN FOOD COURT OF THE HOTEL. If there weren't so many other food options, I would never stay here again because of El Mercado alone. About those busses; like I said, it's not that big of a deal vis a vie resort size. Yes, Coronado is big, but the bus situation is not like say Caribbean Beach, where the busses feel like a war of attrition. There are only 4 bus stops at CS. The loop does not take that long at all. But what IS mildly infuriating is that there is no rhyme or reason to the stops. Gran Destino is "stop 1" on the loop, but sometimes it was the first stop heading out, sometimes the last. Sometimes on the way back from the park, the driver would drive past and start at bus stop 2. It was never the same day to day, park to park, driver to driver. You never knew if you were going to be the first/last/only stop, as all 3 happened multiple times during our stay. Also, there is a direct bus to Blizzard Beach, but not Typhoon Lagoon; for you water park types out there. Overall, Coronado* is my new favorite hotel. The * is for Gran Destino. I would stay there a thousand more times. I think if I had to stay at Coronado Springs proper, I would probably skip it, as everything seems to be situated around the Tower, and the bus only caveat is annoying. It looks like if you were booked in the far out Ranchos/Casitas, you would have a HEFTY walk to things. The busses are worse at Caribbean Beach, but at least you have the Sky Liner there. Lastly, if you're a Disney aficionado, you might not appreciate the EXTREMELY subtle Disney theming. The most you'll get are a few hidden Mickeys. I actually appreciate it. Look: 5 out 5 Location: 3.5 out of 5 (Super close to AK and HS, close to Epcot. MK is a bit of a trip) Food: 3 out of 5 (3 Bridges and Maya are GREAT, Rix is ok, El Mercado is egregious) Transportation: 3 out of 5 Pool: 4 out of 5 (Jaguar slide is long, pool is HUGE. I did the mobile check-in on the app but when I tried to scan into the parking lot a woman came over the intercom and asked if I had been to my room yet. I had not. She let me know that I'd have to come back to the parking kiosk to check in. I was in the back of a Lyft so I was trying to explain all of this to the driver while I was still confused myself. I think what happened was the parking kiosk attendant was supposed to check me in but they had just waved us on through. Totally fine but no apology from either person, just telling me I'm in the wrong. I checked the app as well to see if it said it somewhere obvious that I missed but I didn't see it. I had a hard time finding my building and room this time. I got turned around every single time I tried to find my room in the Casitas. I don't remember having that problem last time. Last complaint is that the bathroom fan is automatic. It stays on for about 20 minutes any time you walk past it. Makes sense, but it was loud. And, again, I don't remember that from last time. I would definitely just stay in the tower next time to save myself some trouble. The things I loved the most were the super easy bus transportation to the parks and Disney Springs and the variety of restaurants. But those are also something you can find at any Disney resort.
