I have a 2012 Audi A6 3.0 Supercharged, my vehicle was recently experiencing overheating issues. The Audi dealer confirmed this and gave me a ridiculous estimate to replace my thermostat and water pump. My biggest fear was that I may have damaged my engine or components. I called Fred, who gave me an extremely reasonable quote for labor and parts. Fred showed up at my house and did the repairs in my garage. He looked at the engine and confirmed that it looked good and recommended proceeding with the repairs. The Audi supercharged engines are very hard to work with because you have to pull the heavy supercharger off of the vehicle before any work can be done. Fred knew exactly what he was doing, and expertly disconnected all of the wiring, pipes, and hoses. Pulled the supercharger, moved some additional cabling out of the way disconnected belts, and quickly replaced the thermostat and water pump. He put the supercharger back on connected all the wiring, pipes, and belts, and then using a scanner checked to make sure the work was performed correctly. The final step was to top off with new coolant and let the engine warm up, bleeding air out of the system and running it for a while before he cleaned up. Your comment about bad karma because I wanted a partial refund on the cooling system flush or lack of , my karma is good, I was lucky enough to find what you missed during your maintenance of our vw TDI. I told you the dealer said the fans were not working properly or if at all ? We wanted to maintain our cars, I thought you would scan the cars to check for any issues or future issues. I also told you the coolant was contaminated , I paid you what you asked for to flush the cooling system, you did flush the cooling system, you missed the cooling fans not working. For a professional on TDI's , you should know the importance of a working clean cooling system. One more thing, starting the car without priming the fuel system after having it apart is not the best thing for the high pressure fuel pump. ( already a major problem with these cars) the continued cranking until it starts does damage!! You have the equipment to sit in the car and prime it in 2-3 minutes max. You got your feelings hurt because I watched you work, I'm a mechanic also, why not learn? I only wanted half of the fee you charged back for doing nothing and leaving a mess in the car and on the street. You refused. You also refuse to fiix the valve cover leak I paid you to fix 4 months ago If anyone uses Fred, get the warranty in writing. And beware he is in a rush on every job and does the minimal work to complete the job He torques nothing on engine work. Says he doesn't need to? Watch a NHRA team rebuild there engine 3 times a day at the track, they do it day in and day out. They still torque EVERYTHING, it's the right way to do the job right and not have a problem later. Every engine guy who does reliable and quality work knows this. Just watch him work on your car , critical parts laying on top of the engine or whateve. Dirt is bad in fuel systems. Fuel injectors laying on paper or cardboard. I'm just listing some of the issues we've had with him Ask for proof of training he has, he should be ok with that, references from past shops. I'm sure to most people, just having your car fixed cheap is great. Fred could be a great mechanic, but he rushes through the job, doesn't pay attention to detail, and doesn't do maintenance like a professional who looks for problems , like my cooling fans not working, especially after allegedly serving the cooling system. Don't you bring the engine to operating temperature to make sure the system is bleed? Or maybe scan the car when you have a new client who wants yoi to be their go to mechanic for everything? After pulling the plugs, he discovered the mis-firing cylinder had a spark plug thread sleeve that went bad (installed by a previous owner since I only owned the truck for less than 2 years). The fix was to get a spark plug thread repair kit and tap new threads. He found the kit at a local auto parts store and was able to install the plug and get my truck running again. For 2 weeks he could not come see my car. Several phone calls and missed appointments later I had to go with someone else.

I drive a 300sd 1984 Mercedes. I always stay up on my maintenance. it deemed she was due for a diesel engine valve adjustment. I have a mechanic from a shop but he is unreliable. so I looked around and I found Fred's number. I messaged him and he quoted me labor only as I had the valve cover gasket. it was a very fair price. if you want to have the correct and knowledgeable people to do your job right the first time. The quality of their work speaks for them. he shared that the valves were tight and that it was going to run beautiful because of his back to spec adjustment. we started her up and she purred shuts off on a second and starts up on a dime. idle is super smooth, engine is quieter no click clacking, she just sounds and feels like new.
