Good prices but you do get a bit of an attitude from some of the staff. They are one of the cheaper options so they manage a high volume and it feels like a production line. There are so many choices to go to in vail to rent ski equipment, and I would not chose this place again! First it's very small and there are so many tight area where you are constantly being bothered to move aside to let people by while trying to put boots on or other trying other equipment. Over all the biggest problem is the rudeness and and arrogance of the owner when told about a certain issue with staff rude attitude. If you forget or misplace something on the mountain call vail ski resort +1 (970) 754-2500 and they will be very helpful, but the staff of this store are not willing to be helpful and just give you the number. when I tried to point out to them that it might be helpful to do that they got rude and hung up on me on the phone. Called back and asked for manager or owner and he was even less helpful and had a worse attitude than his employees. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! When you try to be helpful and kind in business people like me appreciate it and when have the opposite attitude people like me also take notice! read more

Not the place you want to go to as a beginner. I have never felt so belittled publicly by a place of business as a costumer. These people were flat out rude and mean. I left the store crying. Organized a group ski trip and called Ski Tech about group rentals. Their normal prices turned out to be the lowest in Vail and their equipment selection was great. The staff gets you in & out quickly and was very knowledgeable. They are really close to the gondola (about 1 or 2 minute walk) and everyone in our group who rented from them was very happy, no complaints from anyone in the group. read more

if you need to rent/demo/buy gear in Vail, this is as good as it gets. the people in here know what's up. period. pricing is market rates. They also have a pretty affordable rates for storing your boots over night (with boot heaters)... a WHOPPING $3.00/NIGHT not sure what they charge to hold the skis as well as we got a locker at vail ski tech with our condo rental. I did all of my demo skis there before settling on a new pair of sticks! was super easy to get from the gondi to vail ski tech. I tried on 6 pairs of skis in one day doing demos before i settled on what I ended up buying. read more

Vail Ski Tech is probably the best place to rent skis in Lionshead. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent - they have great equipment, the people who work there are always nice and happy to answer questions, you can store your equipment there overnight, etc. read more

Cheap, great service, convenient location. Not sure what else there is to want. They are significantly cheaper than the resort rental places (less than half), have free overnight storage, and are pretty close to the base in lionshead village. Even though it said to make reservations farther in advance, they took us anyway and were very fast when we got there. One of our party even had a problem with his snowboard on the last day, and they refunded that day because of it. Not sure I loved vail, but if I do come back, this is where I'd get my skis. read more

As a store that rents and sells ski equipment, it may be good. However, if you need a ski equipment technician, they have the attitude - but lack the skill and knowledge. My wife had new ski boots that were extremely uncomfortable. After demoing new boots that felt great - the technician insisted that they were too big for her and sold her boots that were smaller (the same size as the new boots from the last year that were extremely uncomfortable.) This year, we went to Vail Resorts boot technician - who said flat out, "there's nothing we can do about this boots. They're the wrong size for you!" How about Vail Ski Tech learning that instep is as important as length when sizing boots. read more

Affordable rentals which can't be said for much of anything in Vail. I also don't have to walk that far to return the gear which is a big issue at the end of the day when climbing a flight of stairs is a struggle. The employees are all very knowledgeable of the equipment and are willing to take the time to explain the nuances of the gear you're getting. After having a terrible day on crappy ski rental boots from another company, I returned my gear and headed to vail ski tech. I told them that my shins were killing me from the bad boots the day before and they hooked me up with comfy boots and high performance skis. They know their stuff here and will listen to what you need. The price for rentals is more than reasonable and if you have any issues they'll help make sure you're comfy and good to go! Extremely poor service. Will never give them business they way they treat customers. Many of the renters are foreigners, so they think they can act with poor customer service because they are used to that in their countries, but i think most americans strive to keep the customer first. We also left our car keys inside and came back at 655 pm and they would not let us in to get our keys because they close at 700 pm. Even though they still had customers in the store. My husband and I travel to Vail with family and friends several times a year and this year we decided to rent here because they carried a brand of skis I love. We rented them several times. This season on the last day of our second trip to Vail, we decided to buy ourselves new skis. All together we spent over $1,600. Since we were coming back the very next week, my husband asked if they could keep his brand new skis there until we returned. He was told no, not unless he paid them an additional $4 per day to store the skis. My husband was upset at being asked to pay $28 more after just spending so much money but since he had already had the bindings mounted he couldn't just walk out and tell them he would buy his skis elsewhere. I couldn't believe he was told this so I called them up and asked for the manager. I explained the situation and asked if my husband was correct that they wouldn't waive the $28 storage fee since we had just spent over $1,600 in their store. He said "Yes that's correct. We're not able to store skis for free for everyone who buys skis from us". I said, we were only asking to store them for 7 days and we could have waited until we returned to buy them had we known this. He said "You should have done that!" I explained how often we come to Vail and bring friends and family who rent and I said so you are seriously telling me you are willing to lose our business forever over $28?! He said "Yes, exactly." Wow! I own my own business and if I treated customers this way, I wouldn't stay in business. From now on we will rent at Vail Ski Base, where the owners a friendly and respectful and appreciate our business. read more
