Good sandwich but pretty typical of central Oregon. Sparrow roll really lends a lot to an otherwise average sandwich. Too much lettuce as usual but overall not bad. Service was friendly but super slow and the guy making the sandwich is awfully snippy when asking a simple question like " is there a menu I can look at". I'll try it out again sometime. read more

Minus 2 for "customer service". Came here twice in 3 days for lunch. Same order both times (Albuquerque sandwich). First time, it came hot, on a hoagie without me so- specifying. 2 days later - same order - came cold on sandwich bread. Went back on line to ask what? Guy in front of me ordered same thing - woman taking his order informed him "you have a choice - hot on a hoagie roll, or cold on sandwich bread. So when I, next on line, asked why mine was cold versus same order 2 days prior - she said "you had to specify". (Same woman taking orders, by the way). Pointed out to her that she told the guy in front of me there was an option/not me. No response. I asked if it could be heated up. Nope. ouch, real sad to see such harsh comments from people on here. so I'll leave this here after literally just leaving Valentines. i mean I'd support a place like Valentine's over and over, especially when they prioritize their employees and the importance of their mental health. if you come here, or read before coming you would know that it gets busy... that speaks volumes. their food, staff, and atmosphere is more than inviting, you'd be silly to think otherwise. my family and i come here weekly to support a high quality local business. In fact, the kind guy who usually works the register noticed when we hadn't been by. their food is fresh and always of high quality, and their hoagie rolls are the best. don't second guess this as a GREAT place for lunch, they work as hard and fast as they can. So many wonderful things I can say about this deli, but i'll start with my obsession with the classic grilled cheese and tomato soup special. I am a total sucker for an all day breakfast sandwich... which Valentine's offers and it is SOOOO good. My husband loves the Malibu Chicken sandwich, and we normally get a salad to split and have not been disappointed one bit. The staff is incredibly accommodating, friendly and patient--even under pressure--including the time we showed up with four 9 year old hungry boys who just had a 4 game soccer tournament and were running on pure adrenaline... which speaking of kids, the deli has a great kids menu as well, and makes for a healthier option, and one they enjoyed very much. Ingredients are fresh, the specials are always tempting to try and the updates on facebook are helpful, which is always a plus for us office workers looking for a good place to order staff meals. I love me a good deli, so this local establishment ticks all my boxes: 1. Great place to grab a quick sandwich/salad/soup and work on your laptop... or have a nice lunch with your partner or friend or whomever you choose. 2. Family friendly is a huge one for me. Even if it's to-go or sit down with a group of kids, the staff is so patient and accommodating. 3. Larger orders for office events will not disappoint either. We have had luck at our office choosing from the menu even those with dietary restrictions. The menu sits in our regular "go-to" file. 4. Great owners! Seriously, we were lucky enough to meet them and you can really tell that Kari loves what she's doing and it really shows from obviously the food of course, but the decor, ambiance, casual vibe, it is all part of what she wanted and to hear about it, know about it, made it all the more special. I haven't had a sandwich there that I don't really like, their prices are reasonable, very friendly staff, you get your food quickly, their soups are divine (and I'm not really a soup person), and they typically have a variety of creative Rice Krispy treats and cookies which are delicious! Extremely overpriced for the small portion sizes , extremely horrible customer service we ordered a kids turkey sandwich and they didn't give us the chips and apple sauce they gave us extra turkey instead that we didn't ask for .
