There's ONE person trying to make sure people are following the signs.. people are double parked.. I almost got hit twice .. it sucks!! This is our second year using Valet-it for our annual holiday party, which this year we had over 125 guests! We are located in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd., so for anyone who knows this area knows what a challenge parking is after 5p.m. Valet-it pulls the necessary permits needed so our guests cars can be parked on the side streets without being ticketed, their staff is professional, courteous and quick and efficient at retrieving cars. We are a non-profit Cancer Support Center so many of our guests have walkers, oxygen tanks and other assisted devices, the valets are patient, kind and assist our guests with getting in and out of their cars. There has been many faces at the Starbucks parking lot as a valet attendant but this one was different. This one smiles, speaks to every single person they see, and literally works for a change. I actually had been debating for awhile if I was going to even do this but when you see a person actually working, when others just stand there, your amazed. We needed valet service on very short notice - my step-father's memorial service was on Sunday and we called them on Friday. I didn't know who to call - I was really frustrated because even the top ten valet services on yelp were sprinkled with the occasional terrible review. We finally called a friend who is in show business, who asked her events planner, who referred us to Valet-It. She said she liked them because they are bonded. That made me feel a lot better about the possibility of a disaster. We called Abby, who helped us set it up. We looked at Google Maps together and scoped out the neighborhood - it's actually a tricky spot for a valet service in a residential neighborhood with winding streets and a big hill. We talked it through for a few minutes and then immediately she came up with a really good plan. They already had three other events planned for the weekend and weren't sure they would be able to find enough drivers for our event, but within a couple of hours it was finalized and we were good to go. The guys showed up a few minutes early before the event and were immediately ready to go. Everyone was pleasant and obviously ready to work hard. I suspect it must have been really chaotic when everyone started to show up at the same time, including several quite elderly people who would have needed some special assistance. It all worked out great. It was kind of expensive, but we couldn't have managed without it, and the peace of mind we got from the fact that they are insured, and the fact that they came well-recommended by a pro, made it all worthwhile.
