Valhalla Pub was.. okay. My family and I ate there before a Knights game because it is conveniently close to the stadium. Their menu is small and very "meat"-friendly. It was also filled with pretty unhealthy options, something I like to avoid. I finally decided on the buffalo chicken salad with habanero dressing. I'm normally able to handle extremely spicy foods but the dressing ended up being way too much for me. The waitress did not warn me, or check to see if the food was okay. I couldn't even finish the salad because my mouth burned so much. Mind, the pub was super busy and our waitress seemed to be handling most of the tables on her own. It was also very loud, which I didn't mind, but others may want to pass. It's convenient if you're attending a Knights game, but other than that, I won't go back. read more

I really love this place when certain employees are working. I sat at the bar for a while and watched the bartender greet and help about four other people before she got to me. She never offered me a drink or anything and took so long to come back for my order that i just left. The bartender with the blonde hair..who never smiles...customer service is so essential. I've tried ordering takeout here twice in the last month around 8-8:30pm and either they don't answer after multiple tries (tonight) or the kitchen is closed. Maybe there should be separate hours for food and the bar if their kitchen is going to close so early every night? DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! Awful service and drinks. Place was not busy at all and it took 30 mins for someone to ask for our drinks. Then another 30 mins to bring our drinks. Very disgusting watered down drinks. Awful!! Then I asked if sauce costs extra and the owner said no, then saw on my receipt that he charged me extra for sauce. I said you said it was free and he said "yeah I know but so what? It's only 50 cents, who cares". He was so rude and refused to take off the extra charge even though he said it was free. I only tipped 10 percent and he ran out of the restaurant screaming "motherf*cker don't ever come back". It was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Absolutely TERRIBLE PLACE and owner. Do not go here!!!! read more

Drinks were expensive and terribly mixed and the bartender was hostile and didn't seem keen to serve us because we weren't yuppies in suits. Wouldn't go back if it was the last bar in town, wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

I must admit the theme of this place is what sold me. While the music is no where near metal or Norwegian folk, classic rock never disappoints. Plus there's a small but quality selection rotating craft beers on tap. Have to give a shout out to Bob. Awesome server; very helpful and attentive. Vahallas is pretty good. The fried pickles are meh but the pretzel bites are really good. The spicy bloody Marys are amazing unless it's the World Cup, then they make them so you breathe fire, but otherwise they're really good & they come with shrimp. I think this place is worth checking out, partly because the courtyard is cool, overall. As Charlotte infrastructure builds up around it, this area will continue to get more unique. Valhalla is the best restaurant I've been to in this area. Just solid bar food, good place to hang out. read more

Every time I'm down in Charlotte to see my parents I love going to Valhalla. They have both an excellent drink selection, featuring many local taps, as well as amazing food. Today I had their Ahi Tuna Sandwich, which was a special and was fantastic. My usual go to is their Lagertha sandwich, which has turkey and apples in it. The interior is cozy and welcoming, and it makes you feel like a true Nord. UGH!, I don't even know where to start. But I came for lunch around 11:45a and why, there was a nice welcome... well that was the end of it!. We sat down pretty quickly but it wasn't until around 12:10-12:15 when we finally got our drinks and finally placed our orders, in the end after having 3 waiters and having to stand up countless of time to ask about our food (chicken wings, Sandwich and a turkey wrap ), we finally received out food. So I was down in the park today and got really hot and thirsty and looked around for somewhere close to pop in get a a beverage and maybe a bite to eat. What a great find! If you are looking for a "family friendly" place this can be that but it is more of a "hanging out" place. A place to sit around with friends have a few beers and some great food. I had a bloody mary that I thought was pretty overpriced since almost everyone has bloody mary specials on sundays but what the heck. We visited Valhalla before a Knights baseball game on a Friday night. I was skeptical it would be too crowded and loud to enjoy dinner and was not expecting the service to be great because of the crowd. I was pleasantly surprised! I wish I took a picture but their smoked salmon plate was amazing. The service was good, their bloody Mary's were good. My only problem is that when we came there the next day before football game, all the tables were occupied and I needed lunch before he game. Went in today to attempt to order something to-go. After waiting for around 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me, Jennifer (who claims to be the general manager), asked me if I needed help. I said I wanted to order something to go to which she replied "We don't do to-go orders before 2" and then walked off. Didn't ask if I wanted to be seated or if there was anything else she could help with. This piece is important for what happened later. I walk over to her, since she walked away from me without being at all helpful, and asked if I could be seated then and dine in. She replied "you can sit anywhere you like" in a tone that is not preferable. She clearly had something going on in her life or at work that has caused her to believe its ok to treat paying customers in a less then cordial manner. This is also important to what happened later. I sit at the only table that was left in the restaurant, it was busy for Friday lunch. She comes over to my table and asks what I want to drink, so I ordered a beer they do not offer, forgetting they didn't carry it, so i changed my drink order and let her know I wanted the buffalo chicken dip for my meal. She goes and places the order, brings my drink and that was the last interaction I had with her until it was time to pay. When I finished my drink I waited, and waited, for her to come to the table so I could ask for my check and a to go box. Another waitress, who was older, noticed that I was getting visibly frustrated, and asked if I needed something so I said the check and a box. Jennifer, who was at the bar at the time, said "I got it" to her coworker and brought me both my check and my box. I paid and left. Now , upset at the treatment I had received, I posted to their Facebook in hopes that they read the feedback and apply it to future patrons. But nope, Jennifer herself decided that she needed to input a snarky comment, claim to have came to my table to check up on me (she did not, the older waitress in a green shirt and floral/70's printed skirt did), and stated that I should have mentioned it to her. I would have mentioned it to her had she taken the time to check on me at any point during the service. So immediately after posting her snarky reply she deleted the whole post (I have a screenshot). So I gave them a rating on Facebook, to which she claimed to be the manager, gave a slightly more professional, yet still snarky, reply while still maintaining that she did check on me during service, which has already been stated she did not. She may truly be the manager, and if that,s the case then I am sorry for the employees of Valhalla and anyone else who has to put up with her attitude. Its unfortunate because I like the food at Valhalla and up until today have never had a bad experience there. But it only takes ONE person to ruin that experience. I can say with full confidence that I cannot out of good conscious recommend this establishment to anyone for lunch service during the week because of one employee. read more

In town for work and wanted a good place to eat, drink and feel at home. Valhalla is the place. Delicious food (try the meatballs), reasonably priced drinks, and excellent service. Came in to watch the World Cup semifinals and had more fun than I could've ever expected. Jody, the bartender, is top notch. She makes a mean drink and is great at chatting it up and making you feel right at home. I will definitely be back here every time I'm in Charlotte and hope that others enjoy this jewel in the Queen City as much as I do. read more

Went before the Panthers game against Arizona. Place was packed, but we got a table right away. First impression... I like it. Great beer selection! First we had the Buffalo chicken dip. It was really good! Would definitely order again. I ordered the viking burger. I must say, I was impressed when it came. even more so when I bit in. Great texture, lots of flavor, and HUGE! She had the pot roast. It was ok. It was fatty, so half wasn't good. flavor was ok, but probably wouldn't order again. If not for the dip and burger I would be giving 3 stars. Valhalla has become our go-to bar in uptown Charlotte. Great and seasonally changing beer list, a good by-the-glass wine list and surprisingly terrific food. The indoor space is fun and exactly what a bar should be--the outdoor seating along Brevard court is awesome. But the best part is the staff; knowledgable, helpful, and after just a couple of visits are likely to know your name and drink. On game days the place is crazy but the staff maintains their equanimity and gets your drink out to you as soon as humanly possible. Love this place! read more
