Great seafood dishes, which I personally go for when I dine in at Mexican restaurants, and awesome burritos. This location seems to flip a lot in fact this might be the 3rd or 4th restaurant in this building since moving to Oroville a little over 2 years ago. With that said, the service at Vallarta was quick and efficient, the staff was all very polite as well. i judge Mexican restaurants on their Chili Colorado and this place has taken the crown for best in town! The chips and salsa are great as well! Definitely has made my list of places to eat in Oroville. I've been living in oroville for three years now and I've always HATED the choices for Mexican restaurants. Every single one in this town was so bland and clearly not authentic. First thing you judge a Mexican restaurant by is, chips and salsa. BOMB. Their salsa was amazing and they even bring out a side of pinto beans with Pico de Gallo and Queso cheese to every table! My boyfriend got a pick your own two combo, he got chicken enchilada and a tamale and loved it! I ordered a chili verde plate and the flavor was bomb. The verde sauce was obviously made by them, such great flavor and the pork was tender. So happy to finally have an AMAZING Mexican food place in town. This is by far the best Mexican Restaurant this side of the border!...there traditional dishes like Chile Verde or Colorado....Chile reyano....tortilla soups etc are off the hook as are the more basic dishes. Great food! I was accompanied by friends and family. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo (Chicken over Rice) dish. It was flavorful, lots of chicken breast chunks and rice. Friends a vegan dishes, another had grilled skirt steak and chicken enchiladas in green sauce. All said, food was delicious. I rate the food a strong 8-9 points out of 10. It was 1.5 hours away from my home. For a 10, I will drive through sleet, rain and storm to get there. I would definitely eat there again when I am in town! read more

Last week I called and made a reservation for 12 to have lunch today for my grandfathers birthday. We showed up 20 minutes early with a party of 25! It grew. The staff here were so accommodating. we were seated immediately. Drinks out within minutes. Our orders taken quickly and the food came out super fast and not a single order messed up out of 25. I have to say I've never had such good service with a party this large. When you top that with delicious authentic Mexican food on every plate and amazing bean dip and salsa brought out literally as you walk in. I'm sure it doesnt get any better! It was well worth my drive from Sacramento. Oh...and the prices are fantastic! Even with this group and a few people having a beer we came in at under $200! You can taste the freshness of the food and they serve very good portions. The chips and salsa they give you while you're waiting on your food are also very good. The food was freshly prepared and worth the money we paid. The service was nice and the servers/ waiter/ waitresses were polite. As far as the authenticity of the food, I would not recommend. It tasted nothing like authentic Mexican food. The only authentic flavor was the one of the chips and salsa. I ordered a taco salad, my husband ordered fajitas, and my daughter-two asada tacos. It tasted like something made in an American restaurant. The typical flavor of the meat was not there, there was no salsa on the tacos, no onions or cilantro, just cabbage and meat. The tacos were not even served with lime on the side, which should come standard. The lack of flavor applied to the other two meals as well. The meat was not seasoned to taste. If you are coming from Southern CA or the central valley, you will be disappointed. But we chose this place because we saw a lot of high star reviews. My husband tried calling for about 20 minutes while I was shopping to place a to go order since we live in Paradise. No one ever answered the phone. I stopped by after shopping. It was VERY hot inside the restaurant. I waited at the front a few minutes, then someone approached me, asked what I needed (to place a to go order), then walked away. I wasn't sure if she was coming back to take my order or what. Another employee asked if I was being taken care of, I responded that I did not know, told her what had transpired, then she walked away without a word. Again, I was left wondering what was happening. Another lady approached and asked what I needed. I explained that I needed to place a to go order. She whipped out a pad, took my order, then walked away without a word. I was not again left with no communication. I stepped into the lobby area as it was quite busy. As I sat there, I realized no employees were wearing masks. My husband had a pancreatic tumor, and has a very weak immune system. The young lady came back with my order. She did not include the extra salsa I had asked for and said I was willing to pay for. She also had not put "no rice" on my burrito. I went to pay. I asked the cashier why no one was wearing masks, fully expecting her to say they were all vaccinated. Her reply, "I don't know" stunned me. I asked if they were all vaccinated since they were not wearing masks. She replied no. I sat my food down on the counter and walked out. We are in the middle of a resurgence of a pandemic. One I personally have lost loved ones to. That is great if all of the employees are young and healthy, but I can't take a chance of them spreading some disease to me that could potentially kill my husband. Too bad their burrito is rated number one in Oroville, but they don't care about the health of their employees or customers. read more

It was tough, bland, and the meat had a grayish hue. My fajitas were okay but definitely not worth the price. We also tried the Winerita which was just a salty wine sushi. I ordered the veggie enchiladas (cauliflower, broccoli and carrot) They arrived and tasted like a bag of steam fresh microwaved soggy veggies in a wet slimy flour tortilla topped with what I think was a verde sauce (it had no flavor so I wasn't sure.) I ate the side of pinto beans and left my meal mostly untouched. My boyfriend got the Carne Asada tacos... these really drove this disgusting experience home. The meat was light grey and didn't look or taste like steak at all!! Whatever meat it was looked like it was boiled to death and came out of a garbage disposal. My brother lives in Oroville, and I was in town visiting. I wanted Mexican food, but he lamented that there was no decent Mexican restaurant in Oroville. I looked on Yelp, and saw Vallarta Grill had 35 5 star reviews. I asked him if he had been there, he hadn't. So we figured we try it out. Fantastic! I had the steak fajitas, perfectly cooked. Normally I special order them to make sure the onions and peppers are nice and caramelized. I wanted to see how they did here without direction. Perfect! My brother got the Michoacana cheese enchilada. He also really liked it, but would have preferred it with chicken. It was such a good enchilada that having just cheese in it didn't do it justice. The refried beans and rice were also enjoyable. The service was also great. The waitress brought us complimentary bean dip with the chips and (very cilantro-y) spicy salsa. We were able to order more of it for only $1.50. The waitress checked in on us at least 7 times during the meal, and was very pleasant and was always busy helping people. My only suggestion for improvement would be if they provided more guacamole and sour cream for the fajitas. I was barely able to stretch it to 3 fajitas, but had enough meat and veg for 4. I've just made myself hungry. I'm going to be going back there tonight for dinner! read more
