Everything is so well organized, very clean and well stocked store, so many options for numerous items, ALL employees were very friendly and ready to help make your shopping experience a positive one. Ok so this isn't the fanciest Vallarta but they got the 40th anniversary goods ! I did get to try the hatch chile and cheese tamale and it was remarkably lighter tasting mildly spicy bonus fresh corn was included in the masa tasty ! Service was impeccable management had the store in check ! The fresh foods and deli team really were great . Not as boldly decorated with as much visual imagery or ornamentations as others but they did have the concha of the month on hand which is a fruity pebbles variety and in the future that ruby sparkle tres leches cake is a gonna try ! Cute country style market with quaint simple hometown ambience. And 18 eggs were 3.99 at a special anniversary price. read more

Don't know what the cashiers deals are here but the two last times we've been to this Vallarta we've had bad experiences. The first was a couple weeks back, the cashier & another girl were talking to each other in the middle of our transaction which lead to our cashier forgetting to give us one of our bags. We drive down from Azusa to BP for this Vallarta, so you can imagine our frustration when we had to drive back down again to come back for our stuff. Whatever, things happen. We come back today, don't know the girls name since I wasn't looking for it, but she was at register #1 around 5:45 with what looks like bleached red & orange hair. She asks if we need bags, I reply yes please. Do you think we got the bags? Nope lol. All of our stuff just piles up on top of each other one item after the other as she's scanning, then she's staring at us like we're e supposed to be grabbing stuff and throwing it in our cart as she's scanning? Lol. Then she gives us our receipt and sends us off with no bags, I looked at her and asked if she charged us for bags I asked for, she asks how many do I need. Girl, you see at least 45 items in front of you how many do you think? She hands us two bags. lol. Then we get stuck in the way of everyone after us that's also in line because she didn't give us our bags until I asked for a second time. TLDR; your cashiers should lock in when they're at work cause it's embarrassing for them and myself when they get called out for lacking. read more

Started off as a great store, bakery was wonderful, deli was great and the service used to be fantastic but after a few weeks its now like all of the other stores in our area. Poorly staffed by people who are over worked and don't care, bakery items are only average and the deli items are overpriced and look like leftovers. 7.00 dollars for a container of salsa, forget it. The produce is often rotten or a day or two from spoiling. Don't buy the ready to grab deli items in the self-serve case its two- or three-day old food from the deli and we got beans that were completely dried up, and the juice was spoiled. Sad, I would like to see a better quality store in the area and I was hoping this would be it but its not. read more

Food sucks! Service Sucks even more! Ambiance is ok. Normally my wife and I go to Northgate for our food. We decided to give Vallarta Supermarket a third opportunity. Big mistake! We got two lbs of chicharrones as they looked nice and fresh. Once we got home, we found out that they were chewy and hard to cut. Not crunchy at all. They sure looked like they had been there a few days. My question is. Why not check their quality to ensure a good product to customers? The cheating mentality plays a big part of these merchants in the Latino communities. That is pretty sad. In addition to the chicharrones, we bought strawberries that were borderline spoiled. Northgate is a few miles away and that is where I will keep going. Sadly after a third strike, Vallarta I will not be taking our money. read more

The Security guards working here dress like they're part of S.W.A.T. and act as if they're out on a mission to catch humans who don't steal Since Vallarta insists on only using self checkouts, the security team is on high alert, even with the 25 cameras pointing at 1 single register. As I'm walking to ring up my groceries, bag them, and pay, the security guard walks to where I'm going and decides to stand directly behind me. Mind you that I go here at least 4 times a week. I ask why he watching me so closely, his response in Spanish as he walks close to me was, "you're not special, bag your things and leave". Young kids with a rent-a-cop costume and a shiny plastic badge with zero experience on how to talk with people. Why does Management in Vallarta at thhis location keep hiring inexperienced people who make it obvious they only care about getting a pay check and not about making the customer feel welcome. Vallarta gets Zero stars for this as this keeps happening with new security guards the company sends. I've witnessed other paying customers go through the same thing. My suggestion is the following; when not busy, close the self checkout and open a register. This may slow the theft and customers won't feel personally attacked by the security team, who obviously have no experience in loss prevention. You have more than enough cameras installed, I suggest hiring someone to conduct LIVE monitoring them and remove heavily costumed security guards all together. read more

They call themselves the kings of the Carne asada on the radio. I cal bs. Look at what I got. My family went withought a complete dinner this day because I bought flankenribs from Vallarta. All fat and bone. The skinny ribs had no meat the fat ribs were all fat. Your commercials are hilarious Vallarta. Do yourself a favor and go to the many places on main in hesperia for Carne asada or even adelanto. I went in and talked to the manager on 12/6 and was told I needed a receipt. Like I care about 25 dollars. I just wanted to give them a chance to make it right I would spend 200 a week here 52 weeks a year. Add that up. I won't be coming back here. Our family enjoys a Christmas tradition of tamales and Vallarta came through for us! I just stepped up to the counter and ordered some freshly prepared ones from a friendly employee. But I wasn't finished yet. Right next to me was a refrigerated rack of more tamales. These ones were carefully packaged after being cooked. I really enjoy coming to this location. There's never a lot of people you always are able to find a parking spot. There's always plenty of cashiers open and everything is always organized. The food that they make there the hot food that they make is always on point is always delicious. Very disappointed with their kitchen. They hold out on their food, meaning they try and give you the least minimum amount of food as possible in what ever you order. For example and I this is my first time ever posting anything in Yelp or the internet period. I order a caldo de res or beef stew. I received a medium small to medium size piece of meat four carrots one chayote one slice of green pumpkin and small corn and the smallest cup off rice like to small spoonful's and a small potato for $15.00. I understand they are not a restaurant but their prices are and the food is reasonably good. Next time I would rather walk in to a restaurant for the price I am better off. read more

Tres Leche here is amaaazing!! I ordered a cake for a birthday and everyone LOVED it! Soooo good! Since the cake was good, I thought the food would be too...but the tacos are a fail. Don't ever try that here. I made the ultimate sacrifice and did it for you. I went on a Wednesday when their tacos are on special for $1 each. I went to d shop here after work. I was very tired from work and I stood in a very long line paid for my "high priced" groceries and waited for my receipt. And, my groceries never got bagged in the bag I paid for. I asked the grocery clerk if she was going to bag my groceries and she just pushed the bag and the groceries towards me. Ok, so my dude is from whitetown, MD and had never been inside an ethnic market (whatever that means) I took him to Vallarta in Baldwin Park.. in the search for apple soda, jamaica water and ceviche. the shrimp ceviche is fresh and with a nice zest to it. At almost 8 dollars/lbs - taste even better. Honestly, if you go to a place like senor baja..it feels like if they are raping me with those ceviche tostadas - 3 bucks a pop. cheez! He fell inlove with the market. I am just used to it and take it for granted I guess. Vallarta was also one of the first places i could find Ruffles con Queso in the Los Angeles Area... with the flavor of Mexico. I'm giving this Vallarta market one star because this is not the first time when I get ride from them,I get REALLY REALLY BAD SERVICE, last week I went with my mom and I had an injury on my foot so my mom had to get all the bags in the van instead of the employee at least helping her , instead he was in his phone the whole entire time ! And when we got home he didn't help to get the stuff out ! This time , today same thing happened expect the guy wasn't on his phone but just sitting waiting us to get in , we had a baby with us ! Make sure you check your receipt, they often overcharge! Bought carnitas that are $9.99 a pound but they charged me $13.99/lb and I purchased one mineral water but they charged me for two... I paid for the carnitas at the food court and I paid for the mineral water at the regular check out... so I was overcharged by two different cashiers. I hope they're not doing this to other unsuspecting customers. I never check my receipts but knowing Vallarta I decided to check and sure enough they overcharged me! This review is for their meat department. I'm not sure they realize how salty their marination has gotten. Extremely salty! Not edible at all! And that's coming from a person who likes salt! Had to return chicken breast and ranchera meat because it was marinated and the other marinated meats I had picked up at the same time were not edible. It's clean and very bright. Its a bit high priced but I'll give them that for the cleanliness and organization not often found in ethnic markets. But dang could they turn down the music? My mom use to go here quite a bit,but really doesnt anymore. I think she goes more to neighboring El Superior now, and thats rare. We usually shop outside of Baldwin Park at Vons,Albertsons or Stater Bros. I have always been weary of Vallartas food as they always seem to be expired. I bought some italian sausages from there on Sunday and they were spoiled. Smelled like garbage. The expiration date was supossedly May 18, 2018,but I know some stores change the dates themselves on expired food just to make a sale. This store is one of them. I will never come back to this store. Not even in an emergency. Ill rather keep going out of Baldwin Park to get what I need. Even if its just for a few items. read more

One of the few chain Mexican supermarkets that feels like it should! Wish some of the aisles were bigger but the bakery and aguas frescas bar is awesome. The carniceria has some good deals, and the veggie section is perfect and spacious. One thing they need to address is their P.A system. I only shop at the Hispanic Markets for Pan Frances ( bolillo ) Queso Fresco. The reason I really don't shop at this stores is for the bad service I get from the cashiers . I hate the fact that I have to pack my stuff . This one time there was nobody behind me the cashier literally cross her arms and saw me pack my stuff. They don't smile, don't make eye contact with you or they're having a personal conversation with another cashier. I don't have this problem at Vons. They pack my stuff and they smile , ask how is your day going, etc etc. It's too bad this corporations don't really care about customer service.
