Used this dentist for the last two years for 6 month cleanings because they take my current insurance and is close to home/work. Have never seen the same dental hygienist twice as the staff seems to constantly change. Find the cleanings to be ever reducing in what they actually do. Referred my son for front top teeth caps. After the actual visits for the caps and two subsequent repair visits he ended up having to go to a second dentist to get them permanently attached. No confidence vote.. read more

This was the worst dental cleaning in my 35 years of existence. Hygienist lady was half asleep, cleaned half of the surface area if you can call it cleaning. Her tool was on maybe 20% of the time at the lowest rpm. She then tried to floss with such laziness she only made it through the teeth with gaps. Then the doc came in who poked between my gums for about one min and left. They did not ask me if I want fluoride , did not ask me anything or tell me anything. I was out of that office in less than 10min. Both doc and hygienist had attitude like someone forced them to go to work. Thankfully I had no major work done here. My appointment took only 18 minutes... for the entire cleaning and X-rays. My "cleaning" consisted of barely brushing my teeth no blame to the girl that cleaned my teeth she seemed like she was being trained. I'm blaming the people teaching her what is acceptable at cleaning a patients teeth. When she was "finished" she flossed probably 5 of my teeth! Then the hygienist asked me if i felt that they were clean enough and asked if i wanted fluoride for 20 dollars extra. I told her my teeth were fine just to be nice and no to the fluoride. I have a pretty small mouth and xrays have always been an uncomfortable part of a dental exam for me, but when the hygienist put the film in my mouth i have never gagged so much at a dentist office not to mention she was pregnant whilst doing my xrays... I found it on my insurance website and didnt read the reviews, boy was that a mistake. They "cleaned" our teeth, if thats what you called it. felt like 1 minute with some grit toothpaste and a waxing wheel. no sink and rinse... My wife refused to ever go back and i dont blame her, me on the other hand brave soul that I am said well they fitted me for a crown and I PAID FOR IT. Enter this place at your own risk! Unprofessional staff that at first claim to care then you hear them gossip about other staff and complain about their coworkers, long hours etc. I had 6 extractions and a full cleaning there and the price was reasonable with my insurance so I kept coming back but they made me feel guilty for when I had dry sockets or roots from extractions needing to be pulled. At my last appointment, the dentist jarred down into my top gums on my left side where there was pain and because there was no root there ir infection he told me that there was nothing he could do about my pain and told me to go to an Oral Surgeon. I even requested tylenol with Codeine for some pain relief. I noticed from the last surgery a piece of a tooth stuck in my gum (lower left side) so I scheduled a follow up appointment. When I showed up to my Follow up appointment the Dental Hygienist was combative and told me 1. The dentist isn't here and 2. We told you to go to an oral surgeon. I told her that I didn't know I was not welcomed back. She told me that she wasn't saying that but that they couldn't do anything for me not even the follow up appointment. They refused to schedule me with another appointment and told me they would talk to the Dentist and get back with me. They did not get back with me. I called numerous times and they kept telling me they will call me back and they never did. I also requested a copy of my Dental records and they refused to give me a copy. Now I have to go pay another Dentist to take this piece of tooth out of my gums because they refused to do it even though it was from their surgery. The Dental Hygienist that was combative also complained to me about how they didn't bill my insurance for my follow ups even though they advertise free Emergency Dental visits... and all of my fellow ups were emergencies... Their was only one follow up that I didn't have a dry socket or a root from a tooth in the spot I pointed too. I wish they would have cared. read more

I started going here because my last dentist kept me waiting for 30 minutes without so much as an explanation or apology. At first the service was very good but when I needed a crown replaced I was very specific about my expectations and they were not met. When I complained I was lectured to "I have been a dentist for 35 years, I know what I am doing." I had already pre-paid so I was stuck. I have been a patient at Valley Dental Care Front Royal for several years. The administrative staff has always been professional. However, the medical staff has been lacking in professionalism and care. April 4, 2023 was the last straw. I reported for my routine checkup and was attended to by Amanda (dentist hygienist). She greeted me and immediately ordered me to get rid of the chewing gum. I advised her that I do not chew gum. She asked if I had any issues with my teeth. I explained to her that I had bleeding gums, dry mouth and that my filling felt like it was out or broken. She asked me if I was on meds. I told her yes and gave her the name of my new cholesterol med. She said that the dry mouth is a side effect of my med and I should brush, floss and rinse with salt water. I informed her that I had been, plus using Biotene for the dryness. She said that my teeth are going to rot out anyway. During the preparation for cleaning, she forcefully pressed the device into my mouth against my gums. I immediately signed with my hands and shaking my head for her to stop. She told me that I couldn't do that. I heard a voice behind me asking the hygienist to give me a moment. Finally the hygienist backed away and began to scold me for moving my head. She headed toward me again and I held up my hand and asked her to wait. When I felt safe and comfortable to continue, we did. I left feeling mentally upset but did not complain to management until today. I wanted to be sure that I did nothing wrong to be treated so poorly. When I called today, I spoke to Art (office manager). I advised him of what happened. He said that this was the first time that he heard of it and he never has had any complains regarding Amanda. He said that he was sorry. I advised him of my intention to write a review and that I would not be returning because I did not deserve to be treated so poorly. He said okay. We hung up. read more

Went first for an emergency broken tooth. They initially were responsive and fit me right in for a root canal the same day and prep build-up for a permanent crown later. The following day the prep build-up came a part and I was back in the chair where they corrected the build-up and installed a temp crown. A week later on vacation the temp crown came apart leaving a jagged remainder and I'm 500 miles away. After some resistance on the phone they eventually agreed to see me immediately upon my return where they installed a permanent crown and all seemed good. On another tooth a crown was necessary so they did a prep and installed a temp crown. When the permanent crown was ready they had to drill off the temp crown because it wouldn't 'pop off' as is normal. They installed the permanent crown but could never get it to fit right. After many attempts I was finally told to 'give it a try for a while' to see if it felt better. After several weeks of enduring the new crown not fitting right it actually came off on a Friday night and was swallowed along with the bits of raisins I had been chewing. Went to their office first thing Monday and requested a refund so I could find another dentist to COMPETENTLY install the needed permanent crown. After 3 weeks of hearing no response to my request I am proceeding to file a civil action against them for gross negligence, breach of contract, pain and suffering and court costs. If after obtaining a judgement against them they refuse to pay I'll seek to have dental equipment seized by the Sheriff's office for sale to satisfy the judgement. After considering this and other reviews of their business, if you choose to go there you'll deserve no sympathy when you have a problem. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had a dentist office. Not one person introduced themselves I felt rushed the entire time and it was my first visit so I didn't know what to expect but they ended up doing just a regular six month cleaning if you want to even call it that the hygienist didn't even touch between my teeth when she was "flossing" them, very literally tapped each one of my teeth with the cleaning brush, rinsed out my mouth then I paid for fluoride that ended up burning my gums and the dentist said it was fine even six hours later they still are irritated. I could've walked out of there with the bib still on if I wanted to because everyone practically walked out of the room and did not even tell me I was done I had to take the bib off myself and set it on the counter and the only really indicator I was done was the receptionist yelling over the counter towards my room askinh if I wanted to schedule my six month follow-up, needless to say I told them nicely that I would call but I am definitely not calling back there nor do I suggest anybody ever go there unless you want to be treated in the most disrespectful and unprofessional manner that I've ever seen in any medical office ever read more

I urge you!!! Do not go here. They are scam artists. They performed $3200 worth of work that they said was necessary via showing us "hairline fractures" on an xray (there were never any fractures). After paying for half of the work before it was done (which they said was a requirement and then being told the insurance company approved it through pre authorization (which was a lie) they then proceeded after doing the work to file it as a "cosmetic claim" which our insurance doesn't approve. The doctor didn't note why he did the work and then left the company. I have been battling them for 8 months now and the claims manager has rejected my calls, voicemails and emails for 3 months. Needless to say we have to take them to court. In addition , my 5 year old son lost a tooth 5 years early due to them doing a filling in a back molar and destroying the pulp so bad to the point where he lost the filling and half his tooth completely got a major infection from the pulp being exposed and had to have the tooth extracted 2 weeks later by another dentist. DO NOT GO HERE. Please share your experiences to help me gain awareness for companies in our area that have no business doing business. read more

Although the staff was nice...the dentist was brutal and uncommunicative. Procedure difficult and his lack of empathy appalling. Like most people, if I could give this place a negative star, I would. I went in for a cleaning at first which was okay at best. I had 2 teeth removed, which at one point he proceeded to numb the wrong side of my mouth. Red flag #1. After proceeding to tell them 2 of my front teeth needed to be worked on, I was told I needed 2 crowns. Long story short, both crowns do not fit my mouth at all. One of them has a micro hole on top as well so now when I eat I'm either in pain or have to watch how I'm eating so I don't bang my bottom teeth into this crown that does not fit. After expressing my problems, they proceeding to file down a SEPERATE tooth to 'fit' the crown. Still did not work. (Also hitting my front tooth with the file while fitting crown) so now I have 2 filed teeth I never asked for. After all of this, I realized I need a cavity filled NEXT to one of the crowns they put in that I HAD TO TELL THEM ABOUT! then, I went to a dentist that actually knew what she was talking about who actually found MORE problems that they never. I would give this facility a negative star if I could. I went here to get a crown and a cleaning, because they were recommended by my insurance . The first visit was for a crown and a cleaning. Previous dentist sent my records so this should have been easy for the new dental office. This should have been a two appointment service. But they said someone called out so they have to do it next week. 2nd appt, he numbed me and then said he couldn't do, I have to go to specialist for root canal. Hold on guy, I only needed a crown! 3rd visit to the specialist, Specialist said no need for root canal, just get crown. 4th visit, Very painful. Dentist was Very Rude and rough. He had trouble with ever part of the procedure. Burned my cheek, 2 big burn lines, also numerous cuts and some blisters. 5th Final visit, dentist was super rude and rough again. Kept dropping crown in my mouth. And then refused to do my cleaning, he couldn't adjust the bite right ,he told me "No, you go somewhere else for cleaning, you don't come back here anymore" also stated how he has been a dentist for 34 years and knows what he's doing. Extremely bad experience, On Wednesday,August 16,2017; I had a dental appt. at Valley Dental Care in Front Royal. The technician did x-rays twice as she was not sure which tooth I wanted repaired. I pointed to the tooth to make sure she knew the exact tooth that concerned me. I was taken to the chair to have the work done. The dentist looked at my teeth and again, I pointed to the tooth I was concerned with. It had a piece broken off the back of it. I asked if it needed to be capped.They said it had a cavity in it and should be capped but first they had to build it up which was like a filling. A cap was going to cost me much more than my dentist charges in my home state so I said only do the filling and I will have it capped when I get home. They completed the work and he showed it to me in the reflection of 2 mirrors. I said okay(not really seeing anything laying upside down and looking into a big mirror showing a small mirror in my mouth). I paid and started towards my car. Feeling my teeth with my tongue, I realized he did the WRONG tooth! I had pointed to the tooth 3 to 4 times at least. I went back in and he said "oh well, that needs to be capped and all i can do is put a temperary filling on it". I was fairly disgusted at that point! He did not blow it dry or prepare it at all for a temporary. He just slapped some paste on it, smoothed it off and said "that will hold you". I said "that want hold past my first brushing" and he said "if not just come back and we will do it again". Well, it lasted 3 days. I called the office. They said come back and we will do it again. I re- quested a different dentist. They said the original dentist had to do it. I said to the manager that the dentist would not be getting paid for this work and I did not feel he would have MY best interests in mind. Again, I asked for a different dentist and again was told no. Now I have to find a different dentist. My experience with Valley Dental Care in Front Royal, Va. accomplished nothing, cost me money and gave me a very bad experience. I cannot recommend Valley Dental Care to anyone. read more

Worst dentist ever. He was very cold and never once explained anything to me, I had a bad molar pulled and once he finished he got up and went to the next patient without saying a word. The staff is friendly and appointments are easy to schedule. The office accepts insurance and also offers advise on low cost dental plans. All this being said, I have a very large complaint with the quality of the dental work performed and the unwillingness of the owners of the practice to even discuss recompense for my daughter's tooth loss due to complications of an improperly administered root canal and crown. The dentist who performed the procedures is no longer employed with VDC so when my daughter experienced severe pain approx 6 months later a part time dentist at the Ft. Royal office determined the tooth along with its crown needed to be extracted. At that time I spoke with the office manager who readily agreed the owners should provide my daughter with some sort of replacement appliance for her lost tooth. He supposedly was in contact with the owner of the practice who was in the process of making a decision regarding the issue. It has been more than 6 months and we still have no resolution or even been given the curtesy of speaking with the owner. Due to the transient nature of the medical staff in Front Royal, lack of continuity regarding patient knowledge, an overall feeling of being misled if not outright being lied to, and having no one in the office capable of decision making my family will no longer be using this practice. read more
