I ordered the philly omelette and the way it was made was surprising The little bit of steak and mushrooms were slipped into a plate and the omelette egg part was over cooked and slipped on top of the steak& mushrooms. Have driven past this restaurant many times and always wanted to try it. The food was pretty decent although I ordered the cinnamon french toast and didn't taste any cinnamon. I suspect I got regular french toast. Everything on the kids menu is $6.95, which I find pricey for $.50 worth of food. Now the worst part - the restaurant was filthy. The floor looked like it hadn't been washed in a week and the carpet never vacuumed. I had to take a baby wipe out of my purse and clean the table off. This was 11:00 am on a weekday so clearly they don't clean on a daily basis. We had our hungry two year old granddaughter with us - had we not had her with us, we would have left. wished I would have read all review before we bothered with this place, stopped in for breakfast. and if you want to get water dumped on your back this is place to be! Minor busy. It took 45 minutes from when we ordered for our two egg breakfasts to arrive, we actually were getting up to leave. Our waitress never checked back after taking orders and brought us drinks. And during our wait, one of the waitresses accidentally dumped 2 glasses of ice water on the back of patron sitting across from us. And no manager came to check even as we and people around us were splashed on feet and purses. Plus the patron still had to pay. she left with a soaked back. Won't be going back. I preface my two-star rating by stating I believe this place has the potential to be much better. Food was good for the price, but the service needs attention. We have only been there once, and perhaps this was an exception, but on this day the servers needed help and there was none to be found as far as we could see. The owners need to put their staff in a better position if they are to succeed. My wife and I stumbled upon the Valley Diner this afternoon while we were out and about in Apple Valley looking for somewhere new to eat. We arrived on a Sunday about 12:30 or so and the place was busy and there was a waiting list, well at least there were people waiting to be seated. There was no hostess and no manager that I saw while we were there. The servers were sharing the hosting duties as they had time, and the young lady that greeted us did not ask for our name, or write anything down. She told us that it would be 5 - 10 minutes and that we could sit in one of several places to wait. While we waited we saw several other parties arrive and receive similar instructions. As can be expected with no list the parties were seated out of order. My wife and I were saw two other parties seated before us that had arrived after we had. We were not that upset, just irritated. It was obvious the servers were doing the best job they could but they were visibly overwhelmed. Once we brought the oversight to the attention of a passing server we were seated immediately. Menu had a nice variety to offer with breakfast served all day. We chose lunch fare but noticed almost everyone else having breakfast food. Breakfast looked fantastic with generous portions and a homemade look to them. We placed our orders and looked forward to our lunch. No member of management or an owner ever visited our table, apologized for the oversight, or even appeared to make a trip through the dining room. While we sat there we could hear arguing between the servers and the kitchen staff over orders that were either incorrect or missing items. Not abnormal for restaurants, just abnormal for guests to be able to listen in. We ordered a Juicy Galaxie Burger (their version of a juicy lucy), BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, and a chocolate malt. I ordered the hashbrowns instead of the fries with the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, a choice I suggest for you as the hashbrowns were fantastic and the fries were average frozen seasoned fries. Malt was average at best...very runny and not of the consistency we have had at many other places. Good portion for the money, but it needed more ice cream and less milk. I am guessing the server was really busy when she made it? The burgers were the best part of the experience. Beef tasted good and like it had not been frozen, cooked to a good medium and served on a soft bun. The Juicy Galaxie was good, though Matt's has nothing to fear :) All tolled the meal came to $22 and was worth the price. The food was good enough to make us give this place another shot. They have good diner fare at decent prices. They will need to make some adjustments to their service and management if they want to survive long term. Just one man's opinion. One last note, we were confused as to the actual name of the place as the external signage all read "Valley Diner" while everything inside the restaurant read "Galaxie Diner" Not a huge deal, but definitely a sign of a business that does not pay great attention to detail. read more

I got this recommendation from Yelp and I'm glad we tried this place. I had the Cajun breakfast and my boyfriend had the TexMex and both were great, but the star was the Raspberry Fritter Bread French Toast...it was DELICIOUS!! I'm not always a fan of Raspberry items, but this was fresh tasting with just the right hit of raspberry in the bread. The service was great as well....friendly and attentive. As far as the place itself, it was in a newer strip mall and was nice and clean and open feeling, but the feeling is a little confused between a coffee shop and restaurant, so it seemed there was a lot of wasted space on couches and seating not conducive to eating. I think they may want to rethink that a bit as it might be a turnoff to going there if you can't get a seat or have to sit at a couch while eating at a coffee table. Just a thought. My boyfriend and I come here on a weekly basis because we love it so much. We love all the breakfast items so much that we haven't even made it to the lunch or dinner yet! I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get him away from that breakfast burrito.. As a waitress myself I also appreciate the wonderful service provided by the staff here, I believe at this point we have had just about every person. It's such a great local place, and when we are short on time we can swing in and grab take-out. All around two thumbs up. read more

Well heres my story of the Valley Diner. I'm an old timer born in 1969. I've had my fair share of so called "diners" and valley was the worst. First of all the TV was playing infomercials the whole time. I would have liked to hear some Beatles on a good ol' radio. The wait was terrible. My grandbaby finished TWO fortnite games by the time they cleared two tables. Back in my day we worked hard for everything and i feel thats been lost in the young generation Z. The table was greasy my cup smelled like a carp! While in the service I had to fish to survive and carp always smelled terrible. Ate here for the first time yesterday for breakfast. Very friendly and attentive waitress which is a very welcomed aspect these days. Ordered coffee and the veggie omelet which came out in about 15 minutes which was a pretty good portion in addition to the toast. All in all came to about $12 for my meal which was more than reasonable. Nice atmosphere and attentive service will always win me over. I wish they would play a little music in the dining area but other than that I've got nothing negative to say. Will definitely visit again! read more

I always seem to get coupons from this place in the weekly mailers and always keep it on the side because its on my to try list. The day my brother, bf and I wander around and decide to make a pit stop to eat we decided Valley diner instead of our typical Dennys. The place is super hidden unless your paying attention where you are going then you will see it other wise its likely you will miss this place. There was only one waitress working at the time and she mentioned she was new so no suggestions on the menu. We came at around 3pm only another table was being waited on at the time. I had the Cajun breakfast which is all topped onto it each other (eggs,cheese, hollandaise sauce, and the optional sliced sausage) I would not recommend this even though its one of their "specialty" items. My brother got a breakfast plate as well and to be honest didn't look so great the ham we thought was going to thick cut was the deli kind thinly sliced not impressive at all. My boyfriend got the appetizer combo which comes with cheese curds, onion rings, fried mushrooms and cauliflower. Everything tasted like it was frozen and just deep fried to reheat. In my honest opinion even with a coupon I won't be coming back just because I can cook everything at home and probably be a fraction of the cost nothing stood out. I would much rather go to the local Perkins or Dennys instead for the value plus taste. Though I might stop by during summer because they serve Sebastian Joes ice cream. read more

I was looking forward to trying this place. Feeling disappointed because I want to love a local breakfast place in the burbs, but the service was so bad. Came in for breakfast. Plan to try it again, hoping it was a bad day. I noticed he was very considerate to his coworkers as well. I saw another customer tip him individually for his service. For a bus boy to stand out is impressive. Cons: -slow service all around -unapologetic staff -inattentive staff Examples: -Came in and there was a sign that said "wait to be seated". We waited, and waited, and waited, then shuffled a little closer to some staff at a register hoping someone would notice. At least 3 people walked by us, and no one said hello, or may I help you, or someone will be with you shortly. Kind of odd. We got seated after we said something -we didn't see a server for at least 15 min once seated. May have been longer (15 from the time I checked the time bc I felt like we had waited awhile). I asked a bus boy since no one else was accessible. He apologized and 5 min later a server came over, but never acknowledged or apologized for the inconvenience -we waited 45 min for our food. The bus boy saw this and apologized, but our server never acknowledged or apologized when our plates came. By the time we were eating we had been there an hour. NOT RECOMMENDED: the wife and I went there on a sunday and the wait staff looked over worked, tired and frustrated. That should have been our first clue. The food was TERRIBLE, We ordered the raspberry fritter French toast which came out cold and very dry with nothing but a small bit of whipped cream on the side. Next were the VERY underdone soggy, greasy, watery hashbrowns, and equally soggy underdone frozen sausage disks. I'm glad we didn't order eggs, I noticed they had scrambled egg mix in what looked like condiment bottles just sitting next to the hot cooking surface. and I noticed they didn't stay on the heat for more than 30 seconds before the soggy mess was scooped onto a plate and served to some poor unsuspecting customer. The cooks looked like a bunch of confused squirrels as they bickered and argued over what order was next not communicating with the wait staff that orders were up as they sat and got cold. Ordered takeout from Valley Diner a few days ago. The food was delicious. We ordered the glaxie grand omelette and pancakes with bacon for our daughter. The omelettes are huge, fluffy, and delicious. My daughter enjoyed her pancakes and bacon as well. The portion sizes are very large also. I did not have the experience of dining in, but when I picked up our food, everyone dining in appeared to be enjoying their breakfast. It is a smaller/diner style type of restaurant so there aren't a lot of tables. Most if not all were occupied when I went in on a Thursday morning. I am so glad I didn't listen to the reviews! This place was excellent. We were there on a Sunday late morning and seated promptly. Our server, Candace, came to our table as soon as we sat down and took our drink order. Then my coffee cup was never empty throughout the whole meal. My husband got the Galaxie omelet and I got the Greek breakfast. Both were served piping hot and actually steaming. The eggs on the omelet was so fluffy and flavorful. I feel that this place is a great place to get a feel of the 1950's but yet in a modern setting. I mean the decor on the wall and the music playing in the background makes you feel nostalgic for the 1950's. If you are anywhere near Apple Valley than this place is a must. This place was half-full for a weekday lunch time which makes it a good place to try. The servers are really friendly and will give you a nice friendly hello. Plus this food has a wide-range of items to choose from during all hours of the day. What I mean is that you could either select an omelet like I did or to try a club sandwich like a few others in my party tried. They usually have breakfast items or even a burger. Friendly service with plenty of nice seating. A very large menu with great shakes. However I have had varying experiences with the food. It is nice that they have breakfast all day but I got a club sandwich with very little meat. And honestly after eggs and burgers a club sandwich should be quality for a true 5 star diner. However I'm hopeful this review helps improve the food for it has a cozy location with good people as employees. read more

I'd consider a name change... "The Valley Dump" seems more fitting. We walked in around 9a on a Saturday morning to find a teenage couple playing under their sweatshirts in a auxiliary table by the restroom. The toy corner has every germ since 1982. The floors were sticky and the carpet was stained with dirt. Folding tables are used to complete the nasty dining room. The food was actually pretty good. EVERYTHING else was nasty. The server only wiped the table where the plates were.. that's it! The water tasted like cleaning solution. I can't believe this place is still in business. read more

Ok. I should have read the reviews before coming here. Thing is, I don't believe the owners read their yelp comments at this restaurant because my experience mirrored most of the negative reviews. I waited for ordering, and waited for coffee refills both of which I had to get up to grab their attention. Looking at another table I see another customer looking for the waitress. The breakfast was not good. The potato cubes they serve are dry and flavorless. The waitress never asked how the food was and not overly friendly. Over priced for so so food. Met a good friend of mine here for lunch. The food was EXCELLENT. I got a Philly and it was definitely Philly quality. (I grew up in Jersey, I know a thing or two about a good cheesesteak).... Anyway, I'm hesitant to go back though. Waitress was completely inattentive once the order was placed. She never once checked on us for a refill. For me, service makes a huge difference. I can make great food at home, when I eat out, I'm paying for not only the food, but for someone else to take care of the whole darned enchilada. The portion sizes are perfect for diner style food. The staff is friendly and prompt about refilling coffee. Also, if you think diner coffee should be anything but average, you're wrong. I like to patronize local businesses and was delighted to find this diner in Apple Valley. I liked it so much that I brought my knitting group here, and they all liked it so much that we now meet there every week! The food and the service have been great even when 19 of us show up! I love that they offer breakfast all day. My favorites are the cinnamon french toast and the Holy Moly Breakfast. The burgers are also a big hit with our knitting group. The ice cream and the desserts (not listed on the menu) are YUMMY! Love the cheese cake and the moist chocolate cake! Valley Diner was a little tricky to find on my first visit. I absolutely love this place.. Service is always awesome. Their staff, always go out of their way to make sure you have the best service.. Food is always hot.. Coffee is always fresh, hot an your cup always stays full.. My favorite is the Strawberry waffle.. yummy.. Wonderful place to dine alone or gather with a group of others.. Tried this place for breakfast (waffle special and kid got a pancake) today. We did not like it at all. Do not expect any real cream for your coffee. They serve the non-dairy long shelf life stuff that I think resembles corn syrup. Gross. Also, do not expect real butter for your pancake or waffle. They serve a margarine spread. Who still serves margarine in 2016? I can at least get butter at Perkins. The bacon was very greasy and not that great. This is my favorite place in the South metro to go get breakfast! Service is always prompt and courteous, food delicious, and overall my experience is always one to look forward to. I would consider myself a regular, I dine with Valley Diner at least one to two times a week. For the longest time my favorite item on the menu was the Oh My Gosh breakfast, which is hash browns topped with diced ham, sausage, and bacon. Comes with two eggs however you want and toast. Which I find just delightful. However I have now also discovered their omelets which I now cannot get enough of. The food is amazing all the time, but what I really come for is the down to earth caring servers that are always chatting it up with someone. I like how when I eat here I don't feel like another table in a crowed chain, however I feel like my favorite server always has my back and never lets my coffee hit the bottom of the cup! Long story short, favorite breakfast place I go to, have yet to find someone to beat it. read more
