We stumbled upon this restaurant our last trip to PA to visit my daughter and it was fabulous so on this trip it was scheduled for our first night in town and it was just as we remembered. We were seated at the same table in the bar near the fireplace as our last visit and we were very comfortable there. Our server, Amanda, was top notch. Super friendly and explained the menu and the specials which two of us took advantage of. I had the salmon and linguine with roasted tomatoes (FABULOUS) and my daughter had the Special with Chicken and Shrimp in a Vodka Sauce - we both were very happy with our choices. I almost forgot to mention the delicious bread knots - soooo good. Did I mention that Amanda is an awesome server! We enjoyed a bottle of wine (half off of Pinot Grigio) and took our Lemon Cake dessert home to enjoy as we were all too full to have it at the restaurant but didn't want to miss out! They had live music while we were there and we were sat directly across from the musicians, which unfortunately made it impossible to speak to one another and made my grandfather who has a hearing aide very physically uncomfortable. The musicians are shoved into a tight space surrounded by four tables, and everyone seated at the tables around us (and our party) were screaming to speak to one another which just added to the noise. All to say -- while the music was good, I would highly recommend making reservations on the weekend to make sure you're not seated in that area. I will definitely not come back unless I can confirm I'm seated elsewhere. Food was good. Very large portions, good flavor, everyone was satisfied. Our waitress was very attentive. read more

Stopped here for a Saturday night meal while in the area for work. With our line of work, the day ends at 9pm so trying to find a proper place to eat that doesn't close at 9 (which is criminally rampant) is a challenge. I somehow pulled this place in a search which was only 6 min away from work. We high tailed it there and with a reservation checked in. The lady on the phone earlier gave me the heads up that the kitchen closes at 9:50 so we didn't have to leave by then - just get everything ordered by that deadline. Easy squeezy lemon peezy. We were sat at a 6 top by the window in the bar area. An older guy who looked to be a manager/owner got us going, welcomed us and was fully of moxy. He was our speed. We sat and quickly started ordering: for apps- we ordered Caprese, taste of Italy platter, small tomato pie, crab bruschetta, and some beverages. The Caprese was incredible - fresh tomatoes, basil crispy and full flavor and just a simple yet solid dish. The crab bruschetta was good - though not my favorite. Came with a side of tomatoes as well to add on top. The pizza looked good, I am currently serving a pizza ban so I can't comment on it. The taste of Italy platter was a Greek infusion with Greek yogurt type dipping sauces, olives, peppers, meats and cheeses and feta. Very very very good. The waitress/manager lady also brought us out a PILE of garlic knots and a bowl of sauce. When I tell you I got emotional at the knots and the warmth and tang of the sauce-- I've never watched a child being born, but I feel like this was on the same level. For my entree I went with the chicken parm and penne, and asked for extra sauce to maybe pour in my pocket and take home with me. The chicken was thin and crispy - pasta al dente, and the sauce tangy and fresh. I asked if we could have a little table bread but the lady overruled me and brought out another PILE of knots. I nearly asked her to adopt me. For dessert I went with the turtle cheesecake which was fine. This place is great - low lighting, romantic setting, and without making you feel like you have to be or dress like someone you aren't. I will be back. read more

My family has been getting pizza from Valley Forge for years and the large square Cheese pizza with crispy edges hits the spot every time! The bottom is well cooked and while it looks kinda like Sicilian pizza, it tastes more like a NY style pizza. The pizza is quite large with 16 slices and plenty for leftovers! Looking for somewhere new to try, decided to check this place out. Hate to say but nothing good to say about our visit. I ordered crab bruschetta appetizer. Crab was good but was served on sliced seeded bread. A condition prohibits me from eating seeds and there was noting on the menu that mentioned seeded bread. My date had "salmone rustica", salmon, crab, spinach in cream sauce. The sauce completely hid any flavor from the fish and crab. Barely any spinach. I had veal saltimbocca. The prosciutto was very salty. In Italian restaurants so much depends on the sauce and I didn't care for it. After both of us being disappointed with dinner, we hoped dessert would remedy this. Unfortunately not. My date ordered tiramisu, which she loves. The dessert that was served was a far cry from the one pictured on the menu. And tasted no better. Soggy, mushy, tiny. I had slice of lemon cake which was incredibly dry and tasteless. She ordered her favorite cappuccino; asked for it to be very hot. Not only was it cold but again, tasteless. I had a double espresso that was served in a cup too large for the pour. Pretty weak for a double. After telling our server, Ava ( did a good job) about our displeasure she passed that along to manager who in turn told a gentleman I felt was the owner. He was very gruff and put off that we were complaining and instead of his apologizing and offering to remove items from our bill, asked " well, what do you want?". Came here with company on a slow weekday evening. The atmosphere is decent, but caters to a certain generation. I wouldn't call it modern or contemporary, but it's clean and feels like going to your Italian parents' house that was remodeled in the 2000s. It has a coziness to it. Dimly lit. Salad with steak was excellent. The steak was tender and prepared to requested temp. I was impressed it was as good as it was. My company's chicken parm was really good too. Didn't order drinks or dessert. The complimentary garlic knots were def yummy, but beware they're very oily/buttery! Grilled calamari comes on bruschetta toast vs just being on a plate. Kind of a way to serve less calamari, but make the portion size appear larger. I don't rec the calimari dish. Service was attentive, maybe too much so, but it was likely because it was a slow night. read more

If you just happen to be driving by, Valley Forge Trattoria & Lounge looks pretty much like any other run-of-the-mill strip mall eatery. But, trust me, the attractive dining rooms and comfy bar area completely belie the restaurant's utilitarian exterior... And the excellent Italian cuisine continues to surprise and delight. The large menu runs the gamut... from a host of salads... to pizzas, strombolis and calzones... to classic pastas... to chicken, veal, beef, and seafood entrees... to a variety of sandwiches, croissants, wraps, grinders, and hoagies. Whatever your preferences on a given day, you will find the portion sizes quite generous. And you might also consider saving a bit of cash by skipping the appetizers, as a house salad and the restaurant's irresistible Garlic Knots are included with most entrées. You would think that with such an extensive menu, one might have a bit of trouble zeroing in on an entrée... Not so my dining companion, who is something of a semi-regular, often meeting her girlfriend here for dinner. Never a doubt. She is totally addicted to the kitchen's Chicken Parmesan, which she ordered on both of our two recent visits. And, as you can tell from the photograph below, the portion size borders on gargantuan... But quality is quite evident as well. The breading is light and crisp, the chicken moist & tender, and the sauce just sweet enough backed by a solid acidity. The dish is normally served with a pasta of choice; but she prefers a vegetable side, which changes on a regular basis. Most recently, it consisted of an appetizing combo of broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, and red onion. Obviously freshly sautéed, all constituents were at the very peak of good health. My own entrée choices were a bit more diverse. Veal, for example, is always a good indication of an Italian kitchen's capabilities (or lack thereof), and usually my first selection at a restaurant I have not previously visited. So, the Veal Saltimbocca seemed like a good place to begin. This dish, both quick and elegant, is a mainstay in Roman trattorias and is comprised of basically three ingredients: veal cutlets, prosciutto, and fresh sage (and, as pictured below, often with a topping of melted mozzarella cheese). And the rendition served up here is one of the most satisfying I have sampled anywhere. The veal was perfectly sautéed, firm to the bite yet tender, and all the other elements combined in a delightfully sensual gastronomic gestalt. And the simple sauce, made by deglazing the pan with a touch of marsala, added a slightly salty, sumptuous air to the proceedings. Kudos to the kitchen. On my second visit, I opted for the Eggplant Parmesan. Once again, this is a relatively simple dish... but - as I have mentioned in several other reviews - one that is easily mucked up. Eggplant is a decidedly tricky item to deal with. It is very easily either under or overcooked. If the former, it can be hard as nails and lacking in flavor; if the latter, a mushy mess. And if slightly over-the-hill, the seeds become an all too prominent part of the equation. Fortunately, Valley Forge's kitchen does everything just right. The lengthwise slices are appetizingly thin, the crisp golden-brown exterior yielding to a deliciously creamy core. A topping of melted cheese and pillow of your pasta of choice (in this case, capellini) bathed in a first-rate marinara complete the package. Dessert offerings, although not made in-house, are still quite good and certainly worth saving room for. Of course, you have traditional items like Cannoli and Tiramisu... but the Italian Lemon Cream Cake, light and airy on the palate, makes a fabulous finish. Even better, though, especially if you're looking for something with a bit more substance, is the Gourmet Turtle Cheesecake (pictured). The delightfully smooth and creamy New York-style cheesecake rests on a thick layer of fudge, is topped with caramel cream, and then sprinkled with a tiara of chopped pecans. Not-to-be-missed! The restaurant has a serviceable selection of wines by the glass; and, as my dining partner can clearly attest, the bartender makes a first-rate Cosmo as well. read more

It was ok. For a strip mall in a random suburb it's not terrible. I got the shrimp salad and my dining partner got the Greek salad. We also ordered a couple pizzas for the kids with us. The waitress seemed mildly irritated but still gave us decent service. She couldn't answer basic questions about gluten in the dressing. Also couldn't be bothered to ask the kitchen. let me start off by saying.... the waitress was amazing, the food delicious, the atmosphere was stunning. I am giving this a low review due to the after dinner experience. we were a party of 4, it was my friends birthday. so the 3 of us were splitting the bill paying her portion on the bill. I gave cash towards by portion and my other 2 friend split it on their cards. approximately 10-15 mins later a gentleman approached the table and asked how service was. we said it was amazing and everything was top notch. he then proceeded to ask if there was a reason then that we only left 10% on the tip. which we then explained that it was a simple mistake and he handed the slips back so they could adjust the tip. mind you there was other tables around us. it was very rude and classless to say the least. I was very embarrassed. if he thought is server deserved more he should have taken it from his pocket. I would have never approached a table and say that. read more

I've lived in the area for years and this was my first visit here. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with friendly attentive servers. If you are looking for some solidly good Italian food then you are in the right spot. The veal park was excellent as was the portobello mushroom ravioli. The garlic knots they bring out are served with a lively marinara for dipping. The salads are nothing out of the ordinary, but the entrees were delicious and the servings were very large. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I was welcomed to this establishment by the owner walking in before me by a few steps and not holding the door for me even though I was carrying my four month old in her car seat. The weight staff was snooty and treated us like we did not deserve to be in their presence. Five minutes in we were ready to leave. Even fellow dinners were rude audibly, making racist, comments, we could hear from across the room. It was the worst dinning experience we have ever encountered. We should have left sooner. Never will any one of our seven person group return to this terribly orchestrated atmosphere of a restauran. read more

I arrived around 7:42, food wasn't ready, was told it would be right up. 7:57- still no food, 8:02-still no food, 8:10-still no food. Finally at 8:17 I received my food. Entrees were supposed to come with garlic bread, they ran out, stale bread was thrown in my bag. I was comped dessert, too bad I don't eat tiramisu. The food here is always so good so we figured we'd try a margarita pizza. It was really NOT good! Very disappointing...It was slathered in this thick red sauce that was basically tomato paste. At least the fresh basil was good. It didn't have much flavor and the crust was kinda thick. I def would not recommend this pizza if your heart is set on more traditional pizza. read more

I brought my four year old for dinner tonight as we looking for something special. My Husband and I who recently passed would bring our our family for dinner some nights . So tonight my four year old and I decided it was a good place for dinner after a long week , She's pretty picky bit to my surprise she ate their garlic bread rolls and kid's spaghetti and meatballs. They also made her a very cute ice cream for desert. For me I started with the clams and muscle's appetizer it was okay but did need a bit of jazz. I added a bit of red pepper and shake of parm cheese. Made it great!!! I had the carbonara, just a few bites as I was full by now. Also, very good. All in all we will be back , maybe a Friday after school tradition. Food and service was great and they didn't treat my four year like a nuisance. My first time here. Was excellent! Small White pizza topped with shrimp and prosciutto was so good. (had that as an appetizer) All 4 of us had main courses. They were all so good. I had chicken Marsala, the chicken was so tender and the vegetables were perfection! Good size dishes. Drinks and deserts were also great.
