The tech replaced the broken spec spring (mounted to left of center line) with two springs mounted on both the left and right side of center line. This balanced the entire door out, and will last much longer than a single offset spring. He rewound the cables, tightened 3 loose track mounts, checked the up/down limits and settings, and lubricated all moving parts. The door now works better and is quieter than it has been over the last seven years. The final charges matched the quote. In summary: GDE was easy to reach, scheduled my appointment quickly, showed up on time, performed all necessary repairs, and came in at the quoted price.

This is the second time there has been an issue with the garage door. The first time they came out and fixed it at no cost but now it's 2 months past a year and they said they would have to charge because it's out of warranty. I stated how can there be two issues with a brand new garage door and their answer is that it depends how we maintain it and how much we use it. It's a new garage door and we hardly use it. Our other house's garage door has been going strong for years with no issues. Also the garage door has a gap between the building and the door when they installed it so cold air comes through and mosquitos too in the summer. I asked when they can come down to fix it but all they stated is that they will have to see since they are busy and if we're not happy with their work then to look for someone else. I haven't heard back from them for a day so I contacted another company to come fix it. UPDATE After another company came down to fix it they stated all the things soto and sons did wrong 1) one of wheels on top was missing a screw and there was not enough tension and that's why it got tangled 2) top of door did not have a metal strut so eventually the door would bend because of the weight when it goes up. New company installed one for free 3) Soto and sons installed the door seals on the inside and thats why the air goes through. New company stated thats not how it's suppose to be done and it's not professional how it was installed 4). In terms warranty the company that fixed it stated that labor is 3 years , parts is 5 years and door is lifetime warranty if I would have went with them. They were surprised that this company only offered 1 year 5) door when raised is uneven see pics Again be careful and always ask contractors who they subcontract the work to. This was my mistake.

He gave us thoughtful recommendations, was patient with our decision making process, and was very professional all throughout. Luckily, I found Rafael on Yelp and he responded immediately and gave me an ETA arriving right on time. Looking at this ridiculous situation, he was able to figure out how to open the door from the outside guiding my husband to the correct wiring. After freeing my husband, he was able to fix the broken cable and put the garage door back on its track all at a reasonable price especially for an emergency weekend call. We are incredibly grateful that I would not have to put toilet paper under the door waiting until Monday for another garage door repair person to finally return my call. Call him.
