We had a delightful time at this beautiful restaurant in the highlands overlooking the majestic Hudson River. The setting is on the grounds of the stunning Garrison Golf Course. We sat out on the deck just outside the bar area as we waited only a short time for our 8:30pm reservation on Saturday nite. The selection was seasonal, exciting and thoughtful. The food was prepared with care and the taste was sublime. Service was good, but not great. A little inattentive and somewhat slow, but that didn't matter because we were out with good friends Al & Marilyn Samuels who brought here from Rockland-it only took us 30 minutes from Pomona. We had an amazing dinner at The Valley. The weather was iffy, so we sat inside, but still enjoyed the gorgeous views. We did the pre-fix dinner and loved everything from the fresh oysters to the cheese board to the main dishes and then dessert. James and his staff took care of us and were very welcoming and attentive the entire time. I've lived in Westchester all my life and never knew of such a great spot to have a memorable dinner! Today I had the pleasure of eating at Valley Restaurant. Upon entering we were greeted by Daniel, who went ABOVE and beyond to make us comfortable and feel at home. We sat outside, overlooking the GORGEOUS Hudson River, and got to enjoy a breathtaking view. We had such a tough time deciding on what to order, we pretty much ordered EVERYTHING on the menu. We started with Mimosas and the lovely bite size cinnamon muffins brought to the table. We continued with Pork Belly Tacos (2), Lobster Roll and Fries (which could've been an entree by itself), and Crab Cake (1) appetizers. We also sampled an order of Shishito Peppers with Lemon Aioli and Summer Corn Chowder. My favorites: the Pork Belly Tacos are NOT to be missed and the Corn Chowder was AMAZING. Besties Favorites: Crab Cake (gone in 2 bites) and the Shishito Peppers! For our entrees we ordered the Mushroom Risotto and Valley Wagyu Beef Burger. Both entrees would've been enough to share and cooked to perfection! Stuffed to the brim, but excited to see how dessert could possibly top brunch, we ordered Cappuccino, Mint Tea, and the Chocolate Hazelnut (to share). Not too sweet, not too heavy, but every bit divine... we both highly recommend this treat! We ended our meal with a double espresso and 2nd cappuccino. I love this spot. The decor is fresh and airy, the staff is friendly, the food is excellent and that view is not to be missed. I like to get a few smaller plates or appetizer portions instead of entrees to have more variety. The cheese board always has really great local varieties, the goat cheese is a favorite. I didn't have the opportunity to experience the cusine or the views here. The reservations process (we had a party of 11 which consisted of 3 separate families) was extremely disappointing and nonsensical that after a brief telephone conversation with the gentleman who called me back to verifiy my reservation, I gave up and decided to immediately seek another venue. The gentlemen informed me that a group of 11 would be considered a party and any party could not order anything a la carte, but from a set menu . Ea party member would be charged a minimum of 85 dollars per person. If the per person price is a reflection of the quality of food (which I was informed the food was from a local organic farm), then I would have loved to experience it, however, this price was not affordable to many of the party members. I asked if I could make a reservation for our 3 separate families and sit in 3 separate tables, and was informed that were only two slots available , so the answer was no. The male voice on the phone exclaimed that if the chef had any idea that he booked our families reservations separately he would get in alot of trouble. I was initially thrilled to experience this near by resturant ( this special friday evening is the beginning of a very traditional ceremony at a nearby college for it's seniors) since it very highly reviewed -5 star sister restaurant recommended this place, since they're not open on friday nights. It's important to be accomodating and assist customers (especially those just visiting from out of town) in the very best manner as you're able. This is a lovely country style restaraunt with breath taking views. There really isn't a bad seat in this place. The service is great! From the moment you are greeted at the door to the moment you close your evening the smiles and kind attitudes fill the light air in this place. I had a sangriatini recommended by the waitress and I enjoyed it very much. The Spanish octopus was perfectly marinated and combined with fresh tomatoes and Flava beans. The lobster risotto was fantastic! The capers was a lovely addition to this delicious meal and the Scallops were seasoned very well and combined with a fresh assortment of veggies. I didn't think it could get any better until I had a fresh berry tart to finish off this delicious meal. I appreciate the portions because I enjoy trying different dishes and the menu has a variety of small plates. There's a nice bar and outdoor seating. I would recommend this place for a romantic meal or a celebratory meal. This place offers a soft and pleasant vibe that makes you feel comfortable and special at the same time. read more

Do not go during restaurant week, you will be treated like a second class citizen. To sum it up, I wanted to come have a little tasting during restaurant week...I wanted to come back several times and make this a special place for special meals. We eat out at good restaurants often, but use restaurant week to try new ones. Note to Valley: People that like restaurant week are not out just to get a deal. They may be future patrons. Basically some of the best food I have eaten during restaurant week was ruined by some of the worst service I have ever experienced in any part of the world at any eatery. No drinks until mid-meal, not even water refills (despite ordering cocktails to enjoy before our dinner....they came mid-main). A hair baked into the dessert which was whisked away when we showed the waiter and replaced with the bill. Really? No comment on the hair? This made us feel terrible as if we weren't welcome because we sent a dessert back. Maybe non-restaurant week patrons wouldn't get hairs in the first place? What a waste of excellent food and lovely decor. read more

We had a great family gathering to mark our father's 80th birthday in late October 2015. James Brown and his team organized a perfect Saturday brunch for 14 - the food was spot on, the service organized and gracious, and the setting divine (the fall colors ablaze around the Valley and across the Hudson). My dad, stepmom, and his siblings - several who flew home East from afar to mark the occasion - couldn't have been happier. Short rib hash with sunny side up eggs, blueberry waffles, and a lobster/mushroom omelet were on offer. The only problems was choosing which to have! My family and I took my parents to Valley for their 50th wedding anniversary. We had an amazing time ... we enjoyed the views during cocktails and had a lovely and delicious dinner (complete with wines suggested by James, the restaurant manager). Found their Valentine's Day special tasting menu online when searching for ideas for Valentine's Day. We really liked what we saw on paper so we knew we were in for a treat. Our expectations were completely blown away during the actual dinner. Best meal we've had in years- oysters, parsnip soup, scallop cerviche, lobster risotto, steak & chocolate for dessert! Kudos to the chef for not only creating wonderful food, but also thinking of imaginative ways to present it. We went for lunch after visiting the Highland Country Club for an upcoming wedding. We didn't have a reservation and were a party of 7. The staff was so kind and attentive from the moment we walked in until we left. Although it was too cold to sit outside, we had a lovely view from inside. The Fall brunch was delicious. I've had wonderful experiences here in the past, however most recently, we had a very bad experience with the manager here. My now husband and some of our families golfed the day before our wedding and wanted to grab a bite to eat afterwards. I was setting up some things in one if the hotel rooms for the following day so I joined them. The bartender greeted us and was very nice. The manager however came in later like a tornado ordering us where we could and could not sit, picking up things that were clearly not ours (a used napkin, a pen) and asking if they were ours and passive aggressively demanding the bartender to clean up. He was so incredibly nasty and rude that I wanted to leave. There are much more professional ways to speak to patrons and to employees and it could have been handled much differently. I really wanted to scream at him and tell him just how much money we were dropping there the next day and that we weren't just a group of rowdy golfers! read more

What a pleasant surprise! Beautiful setting with a beautiful view. We started sitting at the bar, looking at the view and enjoyed it so much, we stayed right there. The views from the outside tables are stunning ar this farm to table restaurant. Everything was very tasty but the portions - and the pours- are skimpy. Even my martini was only 3/4 of the glass.The flatbread and the lobster sliders were delicious. The duck breast main dish was one of the best I've had. read more

The restaurant is very attractive. The service is attentive. However the food was mixed. The ravioli were incredibly delicious. A fish dish came and it was dry, over salted and had a strong odor. The sides of white broccoli were barely cooked. It was so unpalatable that I sent it back. The waiter wanted to give me a sauce to make it less dry, but that was only part of the problem. I said I would not eat that dish, The short ribs that were ordered instead were succulent, moist and tasty. The parsnip side dish was served roasted unpeeled. The desserts were a little strange. The chocolate flourless cake not sweet enough, the caramel apple had massive amounts of caramel but I did not detect any apple. The cheese plates were adequate, although, sherbet and cheese strike me as a somewhat odd pairing. The tables were rather close together, so there was constant foot traffic from staff behind my chair. I wanted to like this place because of its beautiful setting and the gracious greeting we got from the maître d but it just didn't happen. read more

DO NOT GO! If possible I would give it NO Stars! This is the worst restaurant experience I have had in quite some time. We called to make a reservation for a party of 6 prior to going to the theater at Boscobel. The receptionist was told we had to leave at the very latest by 7:30 to make the start of the show. We were assured there was no problem. But as we got there, we noted a wedding going on. That should have set off alarm bells. We arrive and the place looked lovely and that is about where reality departed and down we fell into the rabbit hole. We again told the hostess that 7:30 was the latest we could stay and were seated at 6. We ordered. The wine was overpriced and spoiled- we sent it back. The wait for the food was interminable and when it arrived, it was tasty, way over priced, nicely presented and lukewarm. Clearly sitting around a while. Needless to say, they are entirely disorganized- pleasant, proper, but incompetent. We waited and finally after begging them, they gave up the bill at 7:30. We asked them to divide it by three and after 15 more minutes, were each given our third of the bill. Why, you might ask did it take 15 minutes to get a bill. They had to hand enter each item listed after dividing by three and then print out a bill. Bizarre! Of course, we were way late for the play. I repeat--- DO NOT GO! read more

Nice view and pleasant staff, but the food was just "Meh". Went for Hudson Valley Restaraunt Week, and first off, the most appealing appetizer on the online menu was not on the restaraunt's menu. They did not have grilled flatbread with Maine crabmeat, instead they offered a Brussels sprout option, which if ordered, made the restaraunt smell of sauerkraut. The duck ordered was undercooked and fatty... And the lentil stew was under seasoned with a overdone poached egg. Poaching an egg is really not that difficult. Dessert was delicious, although the pot de creme is not a traditional pot do creme.. It is really more like fudge in a tart. Enjoy the view, anyway! read more

Limited, but creative menu, diminished because steak, risotto, and vegetable dishes were far too salty-- what you'd expect from a two-star restaurant. Come here for the view, but not the food. $16 Spanish Octopus was one shriveled pitiful piece that was an affront to Spain, although the beans on the plate were plentiful and tasty. $48 Bone-in Ribeye ordered medium rare was a flavorless undercooked hunk of less than prime beef balanced atop a pile of potatoes, onion, and pretty good asparagus. Full portions of their pasta dish cost an outrageous $36...half portions were $18 for the smallest portion of pasta I've ever seen served anywhere! The waiter pretended to know about food, but his knowledge was about equal to the chefs'. This fellow had the annoying habit of interrupting conversations at the table whenever he wanted to take an order. Plus he forgot to bring the glasses of wine we ordered with the entrees. This place is overpriced and underwhelming...but the view is terrific! read more

My husband and I have been here a few times, its always pleasant but I've never felt impressed. Drinks are expensive, portion sizes are mediocre, and the service (while friendly) is not anything memorable. The view however is worth it all, there is not a bad seat inside or out. read more
