I found a shop with an owner (Bill) where he has knowledge, experience, and capability, plus honesty. Valley Spring is located in Dixon, CA, just outside Sacramento. He was recommended to me by a nearby truck repair shop, and when I went there I could see he had contracts with many commercial trucking companies.. I told him I was going to go on a long trip, and that after 21 years I thought the rear springs on my Roadtrek could use a little help. He was already familiar with Roadtreks. He and I discussed the issues in detail, and I gave approval for him to add a leaf spring, and new shocks. He was prepared on my appointed day, and said it would take the better part of a day. He called me periodically during the morning to give me updates and ask questions, plus clarifying again that the spring might add to the height of the rear. When he removed the "old" shocks, he tested them and said they were still within spec, and he saw no reason to replace them unless I absolutely wanted him to. He already had the okay to replace them and could make money on them, but he was offering a customer information and an option. He also checked the front shocks and steering. He called me around 2:30 or 3:00 to say he was done. He did a little extra work on the stock spring mountings, too. The RT drives like a new vehicle! And, no squeaks or rattles, either. I have met G O D. The Einstien Of Coils & Leaf Springs, and his name is Bill Erb (whose Mechanical Engineering degree I discovered later was in Auto Design/Fabrication/Suspension), at Valley Spring Works, in Dixon, CA. My name is Wakefield and I have travelled all over California talking to, working with, finally being disappointed by, 8 Experts in the field of Suspension/Ride Dynamics/Etc for a luxurious, mini-motorhome I own, that weights 8500 pounds, but is manufactured too low in the middle of the chassis and needed to be lifted - I already leaf overload enhancement system in place that I purchased from "Supersprings" in Santa Barbara, talk to Gerry or Mike - great guys who are the only ones to solve any part of the problem intelligently before Bill. Over the course of 14 months I have spent hundreds of dollars in gas, two weeks or more in time, in different places, but more importantly, heard countless promises and was always let down but not until my Chevrolet Van was in pieces and they realised what normally works*, doesnt. Bill was my last shot and I knew when speaking to him over the phone this could be the guy. In the middle of a Saturday night I travelled 550 miles to get there, and on a Sunday morning he opened his factory up to me at 8am and stated "I have already researched everything you sent me, I have made two sets of coils, one of them will work, lets go to work until this is right". 6 hours later, I had custom front coils that raised the front of my vehicle exactly the height he said it would; 2.74 inches, he powder coated the coils and gave them a hot fire red colour for effect - I was ecstatic. So ecstatic after I drove it locally in his area and put on 100 miles and had it aligned by Frank at Affordable Auto Care in Dixon also, I then went back to Bill and had him perform another miracle he does everyday; we took out the original leaf springs, which were sagging and worn out, re-arched/restrengthened them in his ovens, added an extra leaf, painted them black, and powder coated the Supersprings overleaf the same red as the coils and reinstalled everything. Before my Van would wallow, dip, bounce, sway - it was like captaining a boat in high seas and I accepted it as normal for a while because I thought this was how Class B Motorhomes travel and adjusted my driving habits accordingly. The result; with new shocks (the OEM's were 7 years old and probably worn out after the first year), my Van drives better than most cars, much better. I know my gas consumption has already improved by 5-10% with previous trips and that alone will pay for the upgrades. But now the Van is a pleasure to drive, I am not constantly vigilant of any dips and bumps, in fact for a while I looked for them, and I am not underdriving to add a safety margin - the difference I would have paid triple the amount for or more. Bill was extremely fair money wise, and, when I was in the area for a week he constantly had customers coming back for add ons or problems they had encountered somewhere else. Plus as a Mechanical Engineer, he can make everything you need Custom, in his factory, at that moment, from Specialised Steel to Critical Teflon Bushings I found needed to be replaced. I was literally laughing because of the difference in handling as I drove our 15 passenger van [1995 Ford E350] out of Valley Spring Works! Even though I replaced all 4 shocks, it used to drive like a cartoon vehicle--with the body swaying out and swinging back with every turn. A recent purchase, I found out that these are one of the most dangerous vehicles on the road--partly because the suspension isn't designed to accomodate the weight and balance. Bill rebuilt all four springs--leaf and coil. He computer tested the existing metal, retempered and supplemented where needed. He made entirely new front coils. The suspension is now sufficient for carrying a load and tight for cornering. BUT he engineered the springs to be "progressive"--meaning that they are comfortable down the road, but they get stiffer the more weight or stress that is put on them! So a week later when I drove my truck [2000 Ford F250 Super Duty] with the camper on it and felt that familiar sway--I knew right where to take it! Bill just finished the suspension on my truck, and as expected, it is like a new vehicle! He suggested leaving the stock front coils on--as his reworking would only boost the springs by 11%. "Don't throw money at this area", he said. If you or your church group/company/friends have a 15 passenger van, don't mess around. And don't look for a bandaid solution like the Roadmaster Active Suspension. [Although if you watch their promotional video on youtube re: "15 passenger van rollover" you WILL be motivated!] Get the surgery you need at Valley Spring Works. Same for your truck or RV! It is refreshing to meet such a dedicated, knowlegeable, and honest professional. Nice guy, too. I often see heavy duty trucks from the Sac Valley at his shop. The big ones with cherry pickers and utility boxes all over. The big boys know who to call on when they want it done right. Now you do too! read more

This guy is an idiot. Ordered some front and rear custom springs from Bill for my 1987 Acura Legend. Six months later, still no springs. Bill kept promising me the springs but took over 6 months. When I finally got them the front was too low and the rear was way too high. My Acura looked like a stink bug going down the road. Ass end sticking way too far up. Called bill and he sent me out a replacement set and was still wrong. I ended up shit canning these springs and went to a different company out of state. I looked at my phone bill and counted over 18 phone calls over a 9 month period to Springworks just to get screwed over. I won't use this company or recommend these clowns to anyone. read more

Don't waste your time, I tried twice to do business with this hack . Same problem both times, can't deliver the product promised at the time promised. Don't waste your time ,there are people doing the same service that are honest and can keep there promise of completing a job on time as promised. Bill is hard to get on the phone when you do get a hold of him he says he will call you back in 5. so you wait 5 then 5 days working on 5 weeks not trying to be an ass but when will i get my springs. don't get me wrong he made a set of rear for me they are great took a month with little or no contact. i have called and called some more, i have 2 other shops waiting. i would like to work with Bill and continue our business transactions but am starting to think he is not reliable. a simple phone call would be nice especially when a man gives his word he will call. read more
