After my successful visit to Affordable earlier this month, I decided to have them address an oil leak and a P/S problem. Affordable had the car for about a week and then reported that it was ready to be picked up. They found loose bolts--one missing--on the oil pan and addressed a small problem on the P/S pump. Where should I start.... How about ONE STOP CAR CARE!!!!; I had my 2009 Honda Accord parked for awhile because I needed new platinum plugs $$$$ and power steering fluid changed..... STIMULUS CHECK!!! So the dealer gave me an outrageous quote....Well I took my Honda here to get it smoged and they seemed like straight up nice people....So We go in Met the owner and his wife (A nicer couple you will never meet!). Told him my needs and he quoted me a VERY reasonable price....while we were talking.....I happened to mention how I screwed up the hood of the car ( it looked like I took a steel wool pad to it.....was suppose to be "non scratch....trying to take off tree sap....). Anyway Frank says " I can Paint it." W H A T???? So.....to put an end to this LONG story.......Affordable found out my Honda did NOT require Platinum plugs! so changed out the plugs flushed the power steering fluid.....PAINTED NOT ONLY THE HOOD, but the whole Bumper too so it would totally match!........A BEAUTIFUL JOB.... AND REALLY......HERES THE KICKER.......ALL for just about what what the dealer wanted for plugs and steering flush!!! I was in and out of there in like 10-15 mins and didn't charge and arm and leg for the smog check. A few days later and I come to find out they also have towing services. So I called them up at this number at the shop since I could never get a hold of anyone at the (707) 479-7288 number listed. The towing is decently priced and so is there labor rates. I locked myself out of my car at a gas station, I called a couple other places and it was $100 or $75 just to come out to let me in my vehicle. I called Affordable Auto and the lowest price of $50 and they arrived within 5 minutes of my service call. At first there was a little difficulty unlocking the door but the owner, Frank, who helped me, kept trying different techniques and sure enough got me into my car!. $79.99 for a smog test is crazy. Every other mechanic in town has told me that's a total rip off, plus no discount for a retest fee. After my test failed the receptionist said she couldn't quote me a price on replacing the hose that was torn because the person who tested my car wasn't "qualified" to give me an estimate. I basically dropped my truck off and said, "It doesn't work. Help me." Oh yeah, and I mustered all my car repair knowledge and said, whatever you do, don't replace the battery because it is only 4 months old and that is definitely not the problem. A day later with a new battery they let me outta there for under $50. If you aren't a mechanic (like me!) you can trust AAC to help you. Took my 1985 motorhome in for a smog. It Passed! I was also having problems with the alternator belt and they confirmed that the smog pump needed to be replaced. They increased the labor amount from the quote, but it was a lot of work. I also had the Onan generator serviced and it runs much better. read more

I had my 1998 Volvo S70 towed there for repair work due to a check engine light and a misfire. They charged me $500 to change spark plugs & told me that was the problem. 8 blocks after leaving the shop, check engine light is back & car is sputtering! They call me saying it's fixed and to test drive it. I get 6 blocks down, check engine light comes on & smoke is coming from under the hood! I bring it back, we open the hood, & oil is EVERYWHERE from them NOT putting the oil cap back on! The 3rd time they said it was "fixed." I started it up in their lot (not wanting to leave yet) and the same EXACT problem AGAIN! They told me that that didn't happen a couple of hours ago! (But if i had left, it would have.) Now they said I need a new motor! After a month and $500 later, I told them my car is NOT a science lab to try to figure out what is wrong with it. If you don't know, you don't know. They inspired me to buy a new car! I did and used this as a trade in "as is" condition! I was REALLY patient, and Frank knew it! Sorry, but NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

New to the Area .. I recently moved to Dixon and noticed my truck was having some issues after calling a few places I decided to stop by here to have them check my truck .. Frank which I'm assuming is the owner let me go with him on the test drive so there was no confusion about what I was hearing and worried about. After the drive they jacked the truck up and located the problem. I was kind of worried to see what the quote would be but the lady came back with a quote that did not leave a huge dent in the pocket book . I would not recommend this repair shop not one bit! Last summer in 2017 took my suv to get the ac fixed, within two months or less it went back 3 times. 1st compressor was bad from original walk in. Then they replaced the first time took it back a day or two it had metal shavings, so they "FIXED IT" I said ok. About 2 wks later it blew a hole in the compressor, cause it got plugged and the pressure build up! So now they replaced for the 3rd time and it went bad. And they want to blame me for bringing them A broken down ac system?? Not one time did I supply any kind of parts to them. Original comp went bad! 1st one they replaced metal shavings! 2nd one they replaced blew a hole! 3rd one is on my truck still and it's no good! And all these problems with this shop within two month spand last summer in 2017! read more

This is actually a really great place to go, customer service wise. It was great that I could drop my car off in the morning, they gave me a ride to work across town and dropped my car off directly to me! That was definitely over-the-top, outstanding service. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because I came in having a fuel economy issue that was and still is very pressing to me. I tried to get answers and I got "we'll take a look at it and see if we can find anything". and after my services were done (oil change, tune up, ect) there was no response about my problem. When I asked about it they said "oh yeah uh... didn't find anything". No real concern was given and no solutions as to what they could do next to help evaluate and fix the problem. It was just let go... 4 months later no follow up or concern that I'm still getting 18 miles to the gallon when I normally get 28-30. Going somewhere else to figure out my problem. read more
