Where to begin?!. I have been a fan of Vegan Mirai for many years. There are some of the best sushi, hands-down whether you are vegan or not. They walk the talk on so many levels. First and foremost the food is fresh mostly organic and innovative yet comforting. My favorite is the one they finish off with the blow torch. It is absolutely the best sushi I have ever had in my life. When I come to San Diego and make sure that I am there to go to a farmers market where they have their booth. Everyone on the team is professional, warm and welcoming. I wish they were in Santa Barbara so I could get their catering. Great value, Great quality. Vegan Mirai is one of my favorite farmers market shops. The quality of their food and service is always so consistently high and very enjoyable even for someone who isn't vegan. This shop is owned by a couple who make and sell vegan sushi rolls for the cost of donations. I love the idea that everyone is invited to pay what they are able to. Because of this, I always make an effort to support them whenever I catch them at a farmers market and I've always been rewarded with delicious food. I've talked to the owner, his partner, and also one of their other employees and they've always been pleasant to interact with. The shop is hosted under a small tent where you can watch the chefs prepare your meal right in front of you and many of their dishes use a blowtorch which is always fun to watch. I have gotten food from here numerous times, so now it's time to write a review. I get it at the Little Italy farmers market, but they also go to several other farmers markets in the area. Their vegan sushi is fresh and delicious. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. Their payment structure is unique in that they don't have set prices. This place is amazing!!! I love their vegan sushi, they manage to create such an elaborate flavor profile for each of their rolls they offer. You can really tell how much love and creative energy they put into their food. They don't have a store front so you do have to check their instagram to find out where they will be popping up. Usually at a vegan food festival or framers market. I assure you, it is worth it to go check them out! Cheng has been at the new Rancho Peñasquitos Farmer's Market since it reopened at its new location, and the beauty of his food attracted me to his booth. I'm not vegan and have never been interested in vegan sushi, either, but one bite of his "Baked Skallop" roll and I was SOLD. The smokiness of the flame-seared oyster mushroom on top of the roll was absolutely incredible, and the texture was dead-on for an actual scallop. My daughter absolutely loves the California Roll with hearts of palm instead of imitation crab, and we've now told all our friends that Vegan Mirai's food should be on their must-try list! When I lived in Pb I would go to the La Jolla farmers market every Sunday and would get his baked scallop roll every single time.
