Where to begin?!. I have been a fan of Vegan Mirai for many years. There are some of the best sushi, hands-down whether you are vegan or not. They walk the talk on so many levels. First and foremost the food is fresh mostly organic and innovative yet comforting. My favorite is the one they finish off with the blow torch. It is absolutely the best sushi I have ever had in my life. When I come to San Diego and make sure that I am there to go to a farmers market where they have their booth. Everyone on the team is professional, warm and welcoming. I wish they were in Santa Barbara so I could get their catering. Never had vegan sushi so today was the first. All I can say is I'm now a convert. Having gluten, dairy, corn issues is such a bummer- missing some of my favorite foods has been such a bummer so stumbling across this today at little Italy's farmers market was just a dream! Excellent taste, texture, presentation- now why would I do regular sushi! The only thing today's indulgence was missing was the gut ache from gluten and raw fish... I highly recommend. Great value, Great quality. Vegan Mirai is one of my favorite farmers market shops. The quality of their food and service is always so consistently high and very enjoyable even for someone who isn't vegan. This shop is owned by a couple who make and sell vegan sushi rolls for the cost of donations. I love the idea that everyone is invited to pay what they are able to. Because of this, I always make an effort to support them whenever I catch them at a farmers market and I've always been rewarded with delicious food. I've talked to the owner, his partner, and also one of their other employees and they've always been pleasant to interact with. The shop is hosted under a small tent where you can watch the chefs prepare your meal right in front of you and many of their dishes use a blowtorch which is always fun to watch. I have gotten food from here numerous times, so now it's time to write a review. I get it at the Little Italy farmers market, but they also go to several other farmers markets in the area. Their vegan sushi is fresh and delicious. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. Their payment structure is unique in that they don't have set prices. You pay what you feel it's worth. I highly recommend this spot, even to those who aren't vegan. read more

This place is amazing!!! I love their vegan sushi, they manage to create such an elaborate flavor profile for each of their rolls they offer. You can really tell how much love and creative energy they put into their food. They don't have a store front so you do have to check their instagram to find out where they will be popping up. Usually at a vegan food festival or framers market. I assure you, it is worth it to go check them out! The staff is always so friendly and sweet, they even have treats for my dog when I go up to their tent. I love everything about this business. read more

Cheng has been at the new Rancho Peñasquitos Farmer's Market since it reopened at its new location, and the beauty of his food attracted me to his booth. I'm not vegan and have never been interested in vegan sushi, either, but one bite of his "Baked Skallop" roll and I was SOLD. The smokiness of the flame-seared oyster mushroom on top of the roll was absolutely incredible, and the texture was dead-on for an actual scallop. My daughter absolutely loves the California Roll with hearts of palm instead of imitation crab, and we've now told all our friends that Vegan Mirai's food should be on their must-try list! Cheng is incredibly friendly and his donation-only business model is a refreshing change from the norm. Will continue to keep buying rolls each Thursday! read more

Found them at Poway Farmers market. I'm not even close to vegan, but I've just been trying to cut back on meat a bit so I gave them a try. I loved both the scallop and California rolls made right in front of me. Great flavor and I didn't miss the fish/krab at all. Well done! I would recommend for vegan and non-vegan alike. read more

Easily the best vegan sushi in San Diego. I eat the scallop roll twice a week. It's donation based so you pay what you can. Chef Cheng is naturally kind and welcoming and remembers everyone's name. It's fresh and made with love. If you eat at one vegan sushi spot visiting San Diego make sure it's Vegan Mirai. They are at farmers markets 6 days a week, sometimes 3 different markets in one day. He posts his weekly schedule on his Instagram so I always know where to get my fix! read more

Vegan Mirai is the BEST. Cheng the owner is amazing and always has the best energy. When I lived in Pb I would go to the La Jolla farmers market every Sunday and would get his baked scallop roll every single time. He always remembers me and my name, even when it's been a hot minute since I've been to get sushi. I really appreciate the thought and this isn't even mentioning how amazing the food is. You really can't go wrong with anything! I used to think vegan sushi wasn't too good and Avo rolls was the best you could get. Wrong. These rolls are so flavorful and delicious I have myself craving them over normal sushi. 10/10 you should definitely go check them out. I happily give them all my money!! read more

Every time I'm at the farmers market, vegan market, night market... (really whatever market), I ALWAYS HAVE TO scope out if Vegan Mirai is there. I'm by no means a vegan -- in fact I am very much a carnivore -- but I'm telling you, this is one of my favorite small business sushi spots and I can't get enough of it. The California roll is one of my favorites because it literally tastes like a non-vegan California roll. If you haven't tried it, GO GO GO. Seriously so good. read more

Everything is raw, thoughtfully prepared, and you can truly taste the quality of the ingredients. The chef is hands-down amazing and somehow manages to turn healthy food into works of art. I ordered the buffalo wrap, which came with kale chips on the side. It definitely has a kick to it, but it's balanced by an entire rainbow of vegetables packed into the wrap. Every bite feels nourishing, full of vibrant ingredients that feed your body with different vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. I also ventured out and tried the freeze-dried durian. The texture immediately reminded me of a Lucky Charms marshmallow, although it's much less sweet. The flavor is incredibly difficult to describe--mild and subtle at first, with a fleeting savory note that quickly transforms into something almost tropical, like guava crossed with a nutty vanilla cream. It's unique, delicate, and unlike anything I've tasted before. For dessert, I sampled the Butterfinger and Twix. The Butterfinger filling has a green hue, which might surprise you at first, but don't let that fool you. The chef has somehow recreated the classic Butterfinger flavor in a raw, healthy version. It's not quite as sweet or crunchy as the original, but the flavor and texture are remarkably close and absolutely delicious, this is definitely a must try! The Twix was my personal favorite. The layers of caramel, cookie crunch, and chocolate come together perfectly. The balance of flavors is simply incredible. I've tried several items from Peace Pies over the years, and this place has never disappointed. The menu is creative, fun, and proof that healthy, raw, gluten-free food can be absolutely delicious. If they hear you come in, you're greeted immediately with helpful guidance to the menu. I came on prior occasions with my best friend who has many allergies and is of dark melanin- I state this because of a prior ill review regarding preferential treatment based on skin color. That has not been our experience. And I hope that review doesn't deter anyone from trying out this place.

It might have just been the cook but the the ingredients seemed like they were too wet when they were fried. Service was the absolute worst. Had to ask several times for our drinks when tables that were sat well after us all had theirs. I would come back in hopes the service was better but what a let down when we were there to celebrate and were ignored with the servers passing by us and not checking on us.

We chose the chicken & broccoli bowl that also contains rice and shared it between the two pups...not a drop left! I decided on the Malibu Beef Burger which was cooked to perfection and was such a great burger with a tad of mess (which is what makes a burger the best!) They don't offer french fries but roasted potatoes or mashed potatoes so I chose the roasted ones. They were so good and there was also a lightly dressed arugula salad, which was a perfect side! Wife got the Stop Light Trio tacos which comes with three tacos (the green-chicken, raw brussels, cilantro crema, the yellow-butternut and spaghetti squash with a mango habanero salsa, and the red-hanger steak, pickled cabbage, onion, and salsa roja). She loved the yellow one best followed by the red one but I'm all for the green one...it was delicious!). And we had to splurge with a piece of their grilled chocolate cake...yup grilled! We were told that the cake was torched around the sides and it creates a nice toasty edge. So decadent and thick and rich and lots of chocolate! Overall an excellent meal along with some great service! We had a server change during our meal but we were wowed by the service from everyone. Taylor was the server who ended our service. We had a ribeye steak to share that was perfectly cooked medium rare and the butter was delicious for the sides. We had the truffle fries and we had the onions on red wine. The onions were my favourite part of the sides. I could not leave without the dessert and we decided to go with a banana foster. They do a table side show that was amazing and it was a delicious dessert. Service throughout the night was great. Overall, I will say that I will be back for Drinks and if we decide to have a meal here, I would definitely get the Caesar salad the onion on red wine side and the banana foster. The steak was good, just not great I would be willing to try a different cut or protein. For the pricetag, I would've expected everything to be great, which is why four.

Absolutely loved this place. Such a cool concept with the pay-what-you-want donation model, which made the experience feel even more special. We voluntarily paid $30 for two rolls because the food was genuinely that good.
