My wife received a coupon for Valvoline for an oil change . She took her car to the one on Sheridan Drive In Amherst. They proceeded to check the entire vehicle told my wife that she needed a cabin filter but she told them my husband changes those they showed her the filter and said look how dirty it is the filter was just changed 6 months before and the filter was not dirty it was charcoal because it's a charcoal filter . When reinstalling the filter they left pieces of the filter housing on the floor of the car . It arrived home with my wife with the pieces still on the floor of my car . In addition my wife asked to have the tires rotated they did rotate the tires however they did not check the air pressure which is part of tire rotation three of my wife's tires were low on air the warning light in the car was on when she got home. I think that is something that they should check and make sure when they are rotating the tires. ​ I had to fill them myself . The coupons are really good idea to get you in the front door . I have to believe that the workers there to get some kind of bonus for selling your stuff . read more

Excellent! The employees here were so nice. I love that you don't have to get out of the car and that it's first come first serve. I will never go back to Paddock Chevy where the service is horrible and an oil change means me sitting in the dealership all day long. Oil change here took 20 mins. The one downside is I will say it's pretty expensive. $107 for an oil change - is that normal? Seemed expensive but maybe I'm clueless. Very disappointed that I came back for a NYS inspection 40 minutes before they opened on a Sunday. My 2nd attempt and they told told to come early, but what they failed to tell me is they don't do inspections on Sundays! When I asked if they could make an exception to let me come a different day at a scheduled time due to the circumstances, I was told no. It's Valvoline -- easy oil changes for those of us who want things quick and fast. It comes at a price as a convention oil change starts at about $39 here. I got a coupon online (and you can usually easily find one) for $9 off. Keep in mind for those going to this location: they do not do inspections. I wanted to get an inspection and an oil change all at once, but couldn't swing it here (the closest location is one on Sheridan & Delaware in Tonawanda where they can do an inspection for you). Be prepared for upcharges. They will show you a few filters, like the cabin air filter and an engine filter which will likely need changing and will be on "sale for $25." Come prepared ahead of time deciding whether or not you will change these things. They will say things like "It will improve your gas mileage" and "if you don't change this, your a/c may break down the line," etc. Do your research, make up your mind ahead of time and just be prepared for them to try to sell you extra things. All in all, Valvoline is a decent place for a quick oil change with no prior appointments. This location doesn't offer inspection, so just take note. read more

I've had bad experiences with similar types of companies but have consistently had good ones at this valvoline. Even before I moved to the US, I would purposely wait till I was visiting buffalo to get an oil change here because the staff is always super friendly and polite, they are honest and most importantly they are not pushy after you say no thank you. On my last visit Steve was very personable, helpful and answered all of my (annoying) questions. I had to wait over 40 minutes last time I was there, which I understand sometimes it's busy - but there's got to be a better way to save your spot in the queue than letting your car sit and run for an hour. read more

I went to valvoline instant oil change for a full synthetic oil change. They were fairly fast and they knew what they were doing. The only thing I don't like is when they try to sell you other services. But it's there job and as long as they don't keep pushing it's fine. For the record, it was before closing time according to their website. I pointed that out to the young man and he said, "I'm just telling you what my manager said." My friend (a woman) came back from an oil change asking me why it cost her $160. My answer, of course, was that it shouldn't have. She admitted that they showed her a couple of air filters and told her they needed to be replaced, and not knowing anything about auto maintenance, she trusted them. I asked to see the receipt. They didn't give her one. So, I drove up to ask what had happened. It was just as I suspected: they realized she didn't know anything about car maintenance and took advantage of that to upsell. They started with the oil, telling her she needed synthetic; she did not; the specs for that model year call for regular oil. The synthetic DOUBLED the price of the oil change, but they didn't tell her that. Then they moved to the cabin filter, telling her how important it was to change that out. So, they installed a SEVEN DOLLAR filter for FORTY FIVE DOLLARS. At least they were reasonable when upselling the engine air filter: a $15 filter installed for $25. Of course, when I discussed all of this with the manager Austin, talking to me through his "barely a chin-strap mask" (against current Erie county restrictions), he went through a very well-rehearsed spiel about "showing the customer their filters and letting them make the decision". Fancy customer service speak for "they trust that we're professionals, so we can steer them towards spending more money". Find a local, small business to support rather than wasting your time here. read more

This was my second time at this location in two days. I arrived at the location at 8:15 am because inspections begin at 9 am. I was told "you're number two in line". I was VERY excited for this. There were NO cars in the lot when I arrived. NONE. Two cars pulled up next to me. Firstly, a blonde woman on the right and secondly an older gentleman on my left. The inspection tech took the woman to my first before myself. At this point it was 9:45 am. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed she was getting an oil change. when he came back out to and went to the older gentleman's car I decided to ask him because i have been sitting in the lot for over 2 hours. Again I was number 2 in line. This tech told me I was number 4 and that I arrived last and that the other cars were here before I was. I told him that is not true because I arrived at 8:15 am and someone (HE) spoke to me at that time! He claimed he didn't and "I can tell you you got here last". I told him that this was bullshit because I was here before everyone else. I also explained that I was also there yesterday morning at 8:15 am and was told their tech wasn't in till noon so I went back yesterday at 2pm to then "no longer taking inspections for the day". I continue to be baffled as to how this place is still open with the most terrible and disrespectful employees. and yes. I left. I left because I've wasted TWO hours of my ONLY day off my husband and I refused to get services where customers are treated like shit. I actually have proof of them time I arrived. I came here a few times in the past year and every time the mechanics here were extremely helpful. I know very little about cars and when I come here they check things by me and give me a wonderful price of service and maintenance from oil changes to a new battery. About a month ago I went in for an oil change. My car is at over 100k miles so they recommended a radiator flush (just say no!). i bought the car used and i want to take good care of it, so naively, i took it without googling first. huge mistake. my car (2009 vw rabbit) only takes G12 coolant fluid, and probably didn't need it flushed anytime soon, if ever. they put some other garbage in there. my car's warning light and an alarm were blaring after driving for about 5-10 miles. i had to go to a real mechanic to get it flushed first thing in the morning and had to take a shuttle to work. Later that day i went in calmly with both receipts to prove what happened (theirs and the other mechanic), told them "hey mistakes happen it's okay," and asked them to refund their mistake (only their work, not even what i paid to have it corrected!) i thought this was a reasonable request, yet the manager had the audacity to feed me some bullshit "hey idk it should be compatible!" (IT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T AND I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO PISS AWAY ON THIS SHIT.) and gave me the runaround, acted like they were taking down my info, and then promptly ran outside (like literally out the door) pretending to take a phone call. totally disappears on me, nearly mid-conversation. one of his lackeys out of the blue just says that i'd get a refund in the mail (no confirmation paperwork or word from the manager who was still doing fucking laps around the workshop outside avoiding me like a plague,) and i should leave now. he was pretty definitive about the "me leaving" part. okay whatever. I waited about a month. too long. nothing. THREE THINGS ASSHOLES: 1. my car's warning lights don't lie. 2. any idiot can google this information and it was unequivocal: you fucked up. 3. the mechanic confirmed that i needed to get the crap coolant fluid flushed out and corrected right way. the crap you put in there was already starting to clog up the coolant system. it took the guy all afternoon to get it all out. Hugely unprofessional. they can handle an oil change, like a million other people, but that's about it. fool me once (selling me crap) shame on me i learned my lesson, fool me twice (fucking with me after the fact) GO TO HELL.
