I usually like to do my own truck maintenance or have one of my friends who's a certified tech do the work, but I was in a bind the other day when my truck ran out of coolant. I called to see if they could assist since it was the end of the day and no where else but them were open. They said to bring my truck by and that they wouldn't charge to simply top off my coolant. I did as they asked, they filled my coolant, and did not charge me anything. They could have easy charged me or tried to upsell me on something, but they did not. That is why I felt inclined to write a review when I usually do not write online reviews. They seem like a good group working over there based on my one experience and would consider taking a vehicle back there due to their honesty and convenience. read more

Slowest oil change i have experienced, "instant" must have been a joke. Sat for an hour with no one in front of me.

I give this no stars!! They damaged my vehicle in 2 places and tried to blame another Valvolins location! I would still have been upset about the damage but less so if they had owned their mistake. Absolutely APPALLED read more

WEAR YOUR MASKS PLEASE. Seriously - I read the reviews as I wanted to try this place -knowing full well there was another person who said they were also disappointed that someone who works here didn't wear the appropriate PPE when driving his/her car around after the service was finished. I even put my mask on before I unrolled my window to ask the greeter (Luke) if he had a mask. He replied, "no i actually don't. But. I wont be the one working on your car, he will..." and he gestured to his coworker who was already in mask and gloves. It was only about 65 degrees out, 9:30 in the morning, it wasn't an unbearable temp nor time of day where anyone was enduring wearing a mask all day in the sweltering heat. This review could've easily gotten five stars if the mask issue was resolved after the company commented upon reading the last poster's review a month prior. Service was effective and efficient, they even got approval for new wiper blades for me. The staff was attentive and friendly and hell yes i'll be back because they were quick and I was on my way with all services checked. This post could be even worse, but i've already had Covid_19 so oddly with the antibodies I feel a little safer being out in public - but i still wear a mask when i'm around others or in any place of business. It's the right thing to do at this time. We are in a pandemic, people - and in Illinois masks are required when you're outdoors, near others and in any business you patron. Now and even more, the city of Dekalb (not sure of Sycamore yet) is now FINING people for not abiding by the mask rule. It's such a simple demonstration that you truly understand what wearing a mask means for the containment of this stupid virus. I'm sure your employers will not be happy that you greeted me not wearing a mask. Please Be Better. You represent your company and its brand with your lack of regard for this pandemic and its risks. read more

Valvoline's response to my initial concerns that they would "share concerns with management" is not sufficient. When Valvoline willfully puts their workers lives at risk - repeated truck lift/ramp issues, then that facility should SHUT DOWN and institute immediate training IN COMPLIANCE WITH OSHA STANDARDS. Valvoline's response to my initial post is merely passing the buck and demonstrates a lack of integrity. A company with integrity takes ownership of the problem and doesn't pass the buck. This is disappointing Valvoline. Customers - consider using vehicle service facilities that protect their workers adequately and where safety is a priority. read more

Sat there for 30mins while they tried to get another truck unstuck from the jacks they forgot to lower and drove over them, they then tried to take off oil plug from my truck and stripped on process i watched them turning the wrench wrong way so told them let me down went down road they replaced plug and had me done in 15mins stay away, young kids no experience! read more

Great place, I changed like 4 years ago from Lube Pros to here due to Lube Pros never being open when I was available, and I've been very happy with their service. I always see the employees cleaning the floors and keeping the stations nice, they are knowledgeable, and they all work quickly. They also just upgraded their lifts so they could service bigger trucks. Prices are reasonable too, and the people remember you, which is a big thing for me. read more

Terrible. Got my oil changed here and they took the oil out of my car but never put any back IN MY CAR!!!!! My car broke down and stopped running needing major repairs. The pure ignorance and lack of attention to detail has caused me an insane amount of money and may have ruined my engine. Never again will I do business here. read more

Used to be reputable, but no longer. Damaged my vehicle, lied about it. Damaged my vehicle again, did not disclose it to me. Lied to my face three times about a simple matter. Had to pay the dealership to repair one of the issues, had to repair the other myself. They broke the transmission dipstick tube, claimed it was already broken when they got to it. They are the only ones that had been under the hood. $120 to replace at dealership. Rotated tires and lied three times to my face about updating the tire position sensors. Finally admitted that they didn't know what I meant about updating. When I installed a K&N air filter I discovered that they had broken one corner of the cover by over tightening, and stripped another corner by the same over tightening. These guys are mostly unsupervised teenagers that are clearly getting paid by how fast they can push cars through. Sloppy and lazy work. Apathetic management. Take your car to your dealer, these days they are offering the same speed and pricing and actual quality. Update: Called the customer number that the reply listed. Got nowhere. Still somehow my fault. Not impressed. read more

My car is usually serviced here regularly, but my one service was needed and not in the area. I went elsewhere - BIG mistake. The oil was almost out 1,000 miles before needing my next change. Since I'm nearly at 70K miles, I quickly added some and brought it to Valvoline in Dekalb. I never brought up the car was serviced elsewhere - pulled window oil sticker reminder. They told me that my cap was not tightened underneath my car. At that time, I mentioned the oil loss and was told that the car had a pan to let dripping not show up in my garage and blow off as I drive..... They fixed me up quick, right and gave me a discount EVEN when I then told then it was not their shop. GREAT crew that I'll always go to now. read more

I've had pretty good luck with this company in the past, but I had a bad experience this morning. I came in for a basic oil change and in the mindset to purchase a new battery. My tire pressure warning lights were also flashing. As I delivered the car to the service people, I drew their attention to these issues and they assured me that everything would be checked. The next thing I knew, the guy at the cash register was pressuring me to switch from standard oil to synthetic oil. I know the advantages of synthetic oil, but everything I read suggests that it's still a judgment call as to which one to use and my car manual says it's okay to use standard oil. I had to hold my ground and insist on the standard option, and I admit that I displayed some irritation since I don't expect people to argue this kind of point with me. From then on, things seemed to go down hill. Maybe they checked the tires and the battery, I can't say for sure because I didn't watch them second by second. But the car was returned to me very quickly. As I reclaimed the car and sat down in the driver's seat, I could see that my tire pressure warning lights were still on. So if they did check the tires, they didn't bother to look up the proper specs. And the person who delivered the car to me surely observed the tire pressure warning as he drove over to the pickup spot. I solved this problem by driving across the street to HyVee and adding the proper tire pressure myself. At that point I drove home to make a pit stop of my own before going to work. When I got back in the driver's seat to start the car I got another warning light: "weak battery charge." Go figure. read more
