I went there for a regular oil change. They checked the filters (barely anything in the filters) and started "they need to be changed" for $50! BARELY ANYTHING in/on the filter and they deemed it "needed to be changed". Also, the LARGE mechanic was to exhausted to even put the sticker on in the car himself he had me do it, not to mention the last times I've had it through Valvoline (Cincinnati locations, which are better btw), they put the sticker on, reset my "see dealership" message on my car, and when they checked the air filters, they stated they don't need to be changed! They ate supposed to do the work, not the person paying! Lazy! Plus I've read all the horror stories of others that went to this location! I'll NEVER go back to this location! read more

What a breath of fresh air. I've been coming to this location for years! I had a terrible experience with the Newport location being pressured into buying services, incorrect tools being used on my car, the hood being improperly latched and bouncing when I entered the highway but I cannot say enough good about the Edgewood location. The team always greets you with a smile, doesn't pressure you for purchases but does inform you about what's available, and always has me in and out under 15 minutes! William was so joyful and kind, smiles through the whole service and really made the experience a good one (after I was very on edge about returning to Vavoline)! This was my second time at this Valvoline and I've had a great experience both times. They are pretty fast. It took 20 minutes but 5 minutes of it was them struggling to get my hood up because it was stuck. I love that you can drive up and stay in your car. I've never had to wait in line here either. I came in for an oil change and to put air in one of my tires. I chose the high mileage oil option so it cost $60 with a $10 off coupon online. The cheapest option was around $20 and the highest around $80. The staff was very friendly and professional. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I bought a new car last month (Yay debt!) I took it to Edgewood Valvoline to get it serviced for the first time. I have taken cars there before and had excellent service. The next day, I took a trip to South Carolina for Thanksgiving. I was 3 hours in when my car began smoking. It turns out the employee that worked on my car did not put the dip stick in all the way. This caused my car to leak oil and burn under the hood while driving. Very disappointed since this could have been a major loss to my vehicle. read more

They offer a full service oil change with a few motor oil options to choose from depending on your cars mileage. They check all fluids and even your air filter, which he showed to me and recommended that I change it by my second oil change. I was highly impressed with my service. The mechanic who was actually working on my car showed me the dipstick and what to look for. They were all ready to answer any questions I had without me feeling like a bother. Exceptional service and speed! They registered my vehicle in their system and did my oil change in 15 minutes. I highly recommend this location to anyone that needs an efficent, yet thorough, oil change. Tip #1: There is no need to schedule an appointment as they have plenty of workers during the lunchtime shift, and there wasn't any wait. Tip #2 (May be obvious, but nevertheless): Stay in your car when they're changing your oil. Like I said, they are very fast, and unlike other places, you don't need to wait in a waiting room. The manager who logged my information (Phil, I believe) was knowledgable, personable (we talked non-stop for 15 min) and clear. He read me through their oil change options, and told me exactly what each worker was doing with my car. I could hear their excellent communication throughout the change. He also let me know of upgrades that they could take care of, but he wasn't pushy when I declined. Tip #3: Check Valvoline's website before paying as they almost always have a $10 off or $19.99 oil change available (depending on the type of oil you select). If I could give this place zero stars I would, and here's why: My girlfriend took her SUV to this location on my recommendation, I have gone to this and other local Valvoline's for years for oil changes. This time however this place made a HUGE and frankly unacceptable error. They didn't screw the damn oil filter into place properly!! So of course it wasn't long before the car started to smoke quite profusely and my girlfriend became obviously very concerned, parked the car and quite reasonably called for a tow truck. (I travel and was in Los Angeles at the time). She had the car towed to Piles Chevrolet (an outstanding shop BTW, best guys in world) and they informed her that the oil filter was not properly screwed into place. My girlfriend isn't a mechanic and had no idea, she just knew the car was smoking and assumed something was seriously wrong and did the proper thing to do. So when I returned to town we took the car and all the supporting paper work (their receipt for the oil change, the tow bill and the shop findings and bill). We were assured that they would make it right and refund the cost of the oil change, the tow and the repair after an "investigation" into the matter by the assistant manager. Over a week later my girlfriend received a call back from the assistant manager telling her that after speaking to his Regional Manager, a gentleman by the name of Jerry Crow that they would only refund the cost of the repair only, not the tow nor a refund of the work they did.They also stated that she should have called the oil change place so they could come to her house and fix it. Okay, lets go over this shall we? First off, HOW WAS SHE TO KNOW YOUR SHOP CAN'T EVEN SCREW AN OIL FILTER ON CORRECTLY?? Come on it's an oil change place! It what you guys DO!! and besides we're talking about an oil change here, this isn't rocket science, I'm pretty sure you could train a monkey to do an oil change. Second: SERIOUSLY?!?! YOUR ADVICE TO A SINGLE WOMAN LIVING ALONE IS TO INVITE STRANGE MEN TO HER HOUSE?!?! REALLY?!?! Jerry is this something you'd recommend to your wife or daughter?!?!? "Hey honey, just call the shop and have some questionable looking grease monkey come to your home." SERIOUSLY??! Are you insane?? Is this something you actually tell your wife or daughter? I'm sorry but this has been a comedy of shoddy work, poor customer service on the part of management, some truly horrible advice and what certainly appears to be a sexist attitude on the part of Valvoline regional management. I have been a loyal Valvoline user for almost 10 years, but that all changed on Friday, January 4th, 2019. I pulled in for an oil change with my two young grandchildren in the car. The service was quick and polite. I left and got about 3 miles down the road when several of my sensors came on. The front right tire was flashing with low pressure with 27 psi. The techs had put air in my tires. I returned to Valvoline and showed the techs the sensors and that my tire was now down to 19 psi. Several techs tried to fill my tire and then called the manager over. He attempted the same fix as the other two techs and when this didn't work, he told me my air valve stem was bent and wouldn't allow air to be put in. I asked how he was going to fix this as his tech had caused the issue. He began to argue with me and insist that this was not caused by his tech. When I calmly explained the issue didn't exist until the tech put air in my tire, the manager, Phillip Justice replied, "this isn't anything that we fucking caused". This response was heard by my grandchildren. This argumentative manager argued, cussed and refused to offer any assistance or solution to a problem created by his tech. He told me to take my car back to the place I bought the tire and if they could "prove this was caused by Valvoline" then he would fix my tire. Absolutely unbelievable! I was sent away with extremely low tire pressure to resolve this issue that was caused by the techs carelessness in filling my tires. I called the Valvoline customer care number and reported the incident immediately and the lady, Jessica told me she would speak with her manager, get to the bottom of this terrible situation and get back to me. I have not heard back from Valvoline customer care. What absolute lack of customer service!!! Needless to say, I rushed to Tire Discounters before my tire went flat. Tire Discounters fit me into their busy schedule, explained that the issue happens a lot when the air gun is jammed into the tire, if not careful, will bend the air stem valve. They resolved the issue for me at no charge. Shame on you Valvoline and Phillip Justice for your utter lack of concern for your customers. My husband and I will take our business to Tire Discounters ( who, by the way, also does oil changes and understands the value in good customer service. ) I've also told my family and friends about this awful experience and will be posting to social media. I had my oil changed on 12-1-2012 along with many other services completed on my vehical. 16 days after the service was completed on my car, smoke/steam was coming from under the hood. I ended up needing my car towed and checked out to see what the problem was. The delearship that works on my car told me why my vehical was smoking. Oil was leaking from the oil filter and spraying all over my car. Valvoline refused to pay for my tow, or reimburse me for the failed oil change. The only thing they are willing to pay for is the dealerships work to fix the car; $47.00 They refused to pay the tow bill stating that I should have known that the issue was the work they did and that I should have called them. Not someone to tow the car. I am not a mechanic and would have no way of knowing that the problem with the car was the work I paid professionals to do was not done correctly. Prior to this experience our household was a recurring customer of this valvoline. Way more expensive than going to Pep Boys or my car dealership. Charged me nearly $30 to rotate my tires when that is free at Pep Boys. Guy couldn't even read my mileage correctly and then tried to tell me I needed maintenance for 80,000 miles when I had 8,000 on it which is a simple error but my car is only a year old how would it even be possible to put that many miles on a vehicle in that time frame. As a retired mechanics daughter who has always supported Valvoline I am sad to say I will never go back. read more
