I can't tell you how disappointed I am. This is a business I have been soliciting for decades. I recently brought my truck in for differential fluids. Trying not to be verbose here. So long story long they stripped my front differential plugs. I have all the online paperwork to show this had never been touched. I bought the truck new. I wasn't upset. They told me to go to a proper mechanic as they would have the tools to remedy this. I took it to a mechanic who suggested it was now a repair not a fluid change. They further suggested I go in and ask Valvoline to cover the cost of the repair prior to the fix which made sense to me. No big deal things happen. I went and spoke to the young gentleman who said he was the manager on that day. I explained the situation he suggested that there was no way it was the first time the bolts were removed as differential fluids should be replaced every 15 to 20,000 miles. That is pretty much nonsense. I could not have been nicer and more diplomatic, but I could sense the lack of accountability coming . I said listen this is not a major issue and not worth the aggravation for either one of us. Please talk to the owner. Talk to another manager just do the right thing. We don't need to get into a debate over this. Things happen . The world is an imperfect place. He said we have cameras. I said you have cameras to see what those bolts look like before you worked on it and after he said, yes, I do. I said that's FANTASTIC. That will be the end of this discussion. He suggested he was busy so he didn't have time at the moment. I said no worries. Please just do the right thing. Have somebody call me. He promised he would call but no one ever did and I have given them plenty of time . I reached out via text to remind but no response. I am very protective of small local business. Writing a negative review is not something I take lightly. I don't recall ever being forced to do so. This is an incredibly disappointing and unnecessary situation. I literally saw them with a hammer and a chisel trying to get something done under the truck, but I didn't intervene. I just let them do what they do. I was not upset that they made a mistake. I was upset at the total lack of accountability for something so simple. And being ignored. The manager that was there the day prior when I had my fluid change was fantastic. I wish I had the opportunity to speak to her. I want to take down this review. I hate doing it, but I don't need the stress so I'm leaving it in their court. This is an oil bay full of disrespectful and RUDE oil techs. With the exception of ONE tech there, the gentleman with the long braided hair, these people were complete a**holes. After making me wait for almost 30 minutes, AFTER they waived in another car that was BEHIND me, they gave me attitude when I questioned why they did that. Then magically, they 'didn't have the correct oil filter for my car'......and said they couldn't service me and then had me leave. I will never ever ever return to this low life subpar establishment again. And the 'technician', and I use that word loosely, by the name of Paul, was the rudest oil slinger I've ever spoken with. After using these guys for every oil change for the last 20 years, I'm done. Never. Going. Back. I have a fiat. When I arrived they told me that they didn't have an oil filter for it "because there aren't many around" (Fort Collins is full of 500s and 500Ls). No big deal, I prefer WIX brand filters anyway, so I went and spent $15 on a filter and came back. They did the oil change and I was paying with a Groupon. After the oil change was done, they told me it was an extra $20 for "European oil change" that the Groupon deal didn't cover. I've owned this car for 6 years and this is the first time they hit me with this up charge. I explained that I paid $15 for a filter that should have been part of EVERY OIL CHANGE, but they refused any discount. Customer service is dead at this place. read more

I brought my car into the valvoline in Fort Collins for an oil change around May 2022. I just brought my car to the local auto dealer I have been to multiple times for an oil change, and they just informed me that they oil plug is completely stripped and an after market plug was put into my car that has now completely ruined the oil pan. I do not reccommend this location at ALL, as now they have cost me hundreds on repairs to the oil pan/plug and did not seem to know what they were doing. They did not even inform me they put a new plug in. read more

I have never had a better experience getting my oil changed than at this Valvoline. I came in wanting a change and my tires checked and left more than satisfied with the service. The employee that helped me was very kind and informative about the process and when/how to check up on my car. She even helped me out with the price when my card didn't have enough money on it. They have not had a grease gun for over a year. They don't tell you that, but when you have to do repairs on parts you have to replace because of no lubrication you will wish you had work done someplace else. I went there another time. I contacted Valvoline Instant Oil Change at 970-482-9096. I told them I wanted to have 1 quart of oil drained, so I could add my quart of motor flush, run the engine for 5 minutes and then have them change my oil. Not only did they do what I asked them to do, I did the motor flush twice and they charged me only $31 for each oil/filter change. They were very nice and helpful. Worst. Worst. Worst oil change experiences EVER. Do not go here. First time: My wife went alone to get an oil change. The staff leered at her inappropriately and mocked her intelligence, making her feel incredibly uncomfortable. Second time: I show up and the staff ignored me and refuses to make even eye contact with me. They seemed to be avoiding work in general and were hoping I'd leave. Another costumer and I waited for at least half an hour before leaving without ever being approached my an employee. Go to Jiffy Lube. They are great. read more

The easiest oil change I've ever had. Gave me some helpful tips and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

Had my oil changed here several weeks ago, noticed an oil leak and my oil level indicator came on. Dropped in to have the crew check out the situation and they did so in quick fashion. Turned out the oil filter seal was defective and was leaking. The team quickly went to work and cleaned up the top and bottom of the engine, replaced the filter and also changed the oil again to ensure everything was back to factory specs (at no charge). I feel they took care of the issue and got me on my way without any fuss. Thanks guys! read more

I took in my 2008 Suburban for a simple oil change, I figure any monkey could do it and I don't have to climb under my vehicle when it's cold outside. Well, I online like to use the best oil money can buy so I bought my own Amsoil (13.50 a quart, x6 quarts) with my own Amsoil oil filter ($17 filter) and for a couple months probably less than 1,000 miles put on the vehicle my sister is driving it into town and she hears a knocking noise from the engine and the oil pressure gauge is running low, she pulls over and checks the oil, nothing even registered on the dip stick, so she's forced to buy $30/3 quarts worth of overpriced (Ironically, Valvoline brand oil) from a small convenience shop and even with 3 quarts it was just barely reading on the dip stick, the vehicle only takes 6 quarts so that means that there was maybe 2 quarts? 1.5 quarts? of oil left in the motor. Meanwhile I'm working 150 miles away staying in a hotel for a week and can't obviously go check to see what's wrong. So the vehicle sits in the driveway for a week until I get home there's a huge puddle of oil underneath the vehicle. I look at it, apparently they don't know what a torque wrench is or how to properly secure an oil filter because the stupid thing is halfway loose and just dripping oil. So I figure okay, just to prove a point, I hook up my truck to my trailer and load the suburban onto the trailer and drive an hour into town (I live in the middle of nowhere) burning a gallon of fuel every 7 miles (It's not cheap) and I pull up to Valvoline and simply tell them I want a refund for the oil I bought $72 worth and the $35 or whatever it was for the oil change, they were nice and the manager or whoever said he couldn't get ahold of his manager who has to authorize a refund being a Saturday I figure that's okay. He took down my number and said I'd get a call on Sunday before 10 AM to talk to customer services. He did offer to re-do the oil change and clean up the massive amount of oil that's now all over the bottom of my suburban, but I said no. And the reasoning is if you can't do it right the first time how are you going to do it right the 2nd time? Are you just magically going to grow a brain and learn what a $30 torque wrench from Hardborfreight can do? Anyway, no I don't want another garbage job done on my vehicle. Sunday morning comes, no phone call, Monday comes, still no phone call, Monday night comes, here's me typing my review because there's still no phone call. And don't even worry about calling me back. The issue here isn't the $100 I wasted on an oil change, the issue here is that you almost blew up a $5,000-$10,000 motor because you can't use a little bit of common sense, and who knows how many thousands of my miles you took off of the life of my motor because it was ran extremely low. If I had half a brain I'd get lawyers involved but I'm honestly too lazy to do that. When I drove my $50,000 truck with a $15,000 dollar trailer with a $60,000 Suburban on the it buying Amsoil I thought the message was clear I'm not worried about the money, but if you're going to run a business you should really understand the cost benefit of keeping customers happy because now I'll be leaving a review on every single sight possible. I hope the $100 refund was worth the thousands of dollars you'll be losing in revenue, just like the thousands of dollars of damage you caused to my motor. Lets add up how expensive the most expensive oil change I've ever paid for cost: $75 for oil now polluting all over the highway $35 for the oil change itself $30 for another 3 quarts of oil after it leaked 4-5 quarts out $25 for fuel and wear and tear on my truck and trailer to prove a point $75 for another 6 quarts of Amsoil I had to buy to re-do the oil change And the worst part of it all, I had to do my own oil change - Priceless Lets not forget you ate 3 hours of my Saturday for a trip that should have never happened. There we go, a $240 oil change. After you screwed up my brother-inlaws transmission fluid change I should have known to stay away. read more

Everyone there is very helpful and kind. Whenever I have gone there, things have gone quickly enough that I don't need to worry about finding a place to sit and something to do for a long while. I last went in for an oil change before a cross country move driving three pets. They were very thorough and examined everything they could there. I had my oil changed a while back, but they checked it and showed that it still looked fine, as last time I had bought a higher grade than usual. Since they didn't need to change it, they filled up my tires, looked everything over, and sent me on my way with wishes for a safe drive. BLOWN TRANSMISSION IN NEW SUBARU OUTBACK!!!! DRAINED THE WRONG FLUID! I'm a professional female who recently went into Valvoline on N College in Fort Collins for an oil change before traveling for an important job interview. I asked for my usual synthetic oil change. They reviewed my vehicle and insisted that my differential fluid was due to be changed (later I found out per Subaru that this should only be checked, but not changed at 30K miles). Wanting to take good care of my new Subaru Outback (mileage: 26,034), I agreed to the significant up-charge ($217 total, including a new air filter). I left and part-way into my trip, my vehicle completely seized at about 11 pm in the middle of nowhere. Subaru provided me with a tow to the nearest dealership, 160 miles away, as it was such a new vehicle. Turns out my transmission was totally blown, transmission fluid empty and the differential fluid completely empty as well. It was very clear to the dealership what had happened, the transmission fluid was drained instead of the engine oil during my routine oil change and the differentials were incorrectly done. Our only option was to replace my transmission and since the car was so new, I had to get a brand new transmission at $8,698. I had to rent a car for several weeks while my vehicle was being repaired and missed several days of work. We called the Valvoline shop to discuss with them how we should proceed. The manager referred us to their insurance company, stating that all of the incurred cost would be reimbursed. However, their insurance company is refusing to pay the full amount, as of now still owning over $4,000. We had to retain an attorney in attempts to recover our costs and as of now still have NOT BEEN REIMBURSED (for the transmission, car rental, or the cost of the oil change itself). This was supposed to be a simple oil change and is now a small nightmare. It's obvious that they did not know what to do with a very common Colorado vehicle and I would strongly recommend taking your car to a dealership instead! read more

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a "car guy." That's why I went somewhere for a 15 minute drive-thru oil change rather than doing it myself. I drive an older Subaru that I've put through the ringer. It's loaded up with gear all the time, usually covered in dirt, and spends a lot of time getting beat up on rough dirt roads. I've got stickers of my favorite bands and brands on there. I know it's a junker but it's my car. I showed up early this Saturday morning for an oil change and all of the guys in there started laughing and pointing on my car. He loudly yelled out "Tango Foxtrot ('the f***' I assume) is this car in bay 1?" and all of the guys started laughing with him. The only girl working there asked him what that meant and the laughed and said he'd tell her later. The guy underneath the car goes "I can't imagine what this thing looks like. You should see what it looks like from under here!" follow by more laughs. I just sat their quietly while I got the work done, feeling pretty embarrassed as they continued cracking jokes about my car. They were also loudly discussing "the douchebag in the wannabe turbo" that had just been there before me. As I was leaving the parking lot one of the guys shouted out "Where'd you get all them stickers, Suzie?" followed by more laughing from all the guys in the garage. I didn't even bother turning around or saying anything, just went on my way. I know my car is old and beat up but I'm never giving my business to this place again. It's all immature kids working there that make themselves feel better by blatantly ripping on people that come in for service. I have been a very loyal customer of this site for a long time (7+ years). The day-to-day staff is great, fun and gets the job done. So why the 1 star? The upper management is disrespectful, unhelpful and destroyed my trust in them. My vehicle burns oil (no one can find the cause, even after being taken into the shop), so I have to come in every 3 months to get an oil change, and I know it because there is this knocking sound in my engine. The last time I was there I came late and the tech was in a bit of a rush, and changed my oil drain plug (trying to be helpful) but didn't tighten the oil drain plug properly. When I took my vehicle in for yearly maintenance to a mechanic (because Valvoline doesn't do day-long repairs when they only have 2 bays), the knocking sound was much louder and deeper than normal. I find out the next day that the drain plug (which for reference has to be tightened with a tool) was less than finger tight and the engine had no oil whatsoever in it. The lack of oil in the engine caused engine damage and I would need to either replace the engine or scrap the vehicle within a year or two. Valvoline also had insurance to cover exactly this kind of expense as well. When I provided documentation of the event and the mechanic's findings to Valvoline, the store manager collected the information and escalated the issue and said I would be called back. I was not called back - I had to stop by to make any sort of progress on the issue. On the second visit a person said he would be handling the issue. His summary of the events was "You have an existing oil problem in your vehicle. You didn't fix it, so you aren't maintaining it. You didn't bring it back here for us to top you off. I'm not going to cover anything." Very combative, condescending, and placing the blame on me for negligence on Valvoline's part. Terrible.They owe us $4000! Before a trip home to SW Colorado my wife took her 26,000 mile 2014 Subaru Outback in for an oil change. They up-sold her a differential fluid change, which is not even indicated at that mileage, and proceeded to incorrectly replace the differential fluid and drain the transmission fluid. Part way into her trip, at about 10:30 at night in the middle of nowhere the car broke down. The car was towed to a Subaru dealership with what turned out to be a blown transmission. 3 plus weeks $8698.68 & $1605 for a rental car later Valvoline paid us for part of the damages but still owes us $4000 and refuses to pay more. We should not be out of pocket one dime for their mistake. We've retained an attorney and will do what is necessary to recover the costs. Take your vehicle to the dealership for service, it might cost a bit more up front but will save you in the long run. read more

One afternoon my car began to leak a lot of automatic transmission fluid. I brought my car in for evaluation. Mind you, they never worked on my car transmission and the shop was closing soon. They discovered my Saturn automatic transmission oil filter was loose. The filter was tightened but the leak continued. The gasket was hard. A replacement filter was not available. It was now after hours. Without a 2nd thought, an employee purchased a filter from a auto supply store located down the street. The filter was a replaced and the leak stopped. They didn't have to do anything but they did, saving me hundreds of dollar in repairs. My father worked for Ford Motor Company years ago. My brother owns an automobile repair and restoration shop. Though I did not choose a similar career path, I know when someone works on my car if they know what they are doing. The folks in this establishment care above and beyond oils changes for your car. If you take your car to "quick lube", stop risking the longevity of your car give yourself peace of mind. Bring your car to people who care. read more
