Terrible service. Terrible customer service. Don't ever come here. I had a noon appointment for an Oil Change, and arrived early. Was told 30-40 minutes. Well after an hour and a half of waiting, and my car sitting where I can see it in the parking lot, they finally call me to the counter to check out. My appointment was for a FULL SYNTHETIC oil change.... They chose to do a synthetic blend. And the only way I found out, is because I went to use a $20 coupon for a FULLY SYNTHETIC oil change, and was told they could only deduct $10 because it was a mix. Meanwhile, while all this was going on, they left my car running in the parking lot with the windows down while it was snowing outside for 15-20 minutes!!! Came here to get my Hyundai Elantra looked at after the check engine light started to flash repeatedly (which, as I learned, is a really bad thing - and if this ever happens to you please get it looked at ASAP!) When I walked in (which was a Monday or Tuesday around 2 PM) the place was a bit busy. There were a few people waiting for their cars to be serviced. The person at the front desk was a very kind gentleman who took my information down, and told me to leave my car with them and that I would be updated the next day when they were working on my car. The next day I received a call in the morning informing me that they had started the repair work on my car, which included replacing the tires as I had a spare, and replacing the spark plugs and doing a fuel cleaning (which, as I also figured out was not completely necessary. Just a tip, do your research before you agree to services that you did not explicitly ask for - they might just be there to get more money out of you.) The person on the phone, Sean, said that he would call and update me periodically however I received no phone call from him throughout the day. I finally called back when I was at work only to find out that my car repairs had been finished hours ago. I went to go pick it up and for the rest of the day the car seemed fine. The tires were great, and everything else seemed to work fine. However the very next day the check engine light came back on and started to flash again! This was frustrating to me as I had just spent over $900 repairing this (including the tires) and to have the problem persist was upsetting to say the least. I ended up taking it to the Hyundai dealership, where they fixed it within the same day at ZERO CHARGE. They told me it was a cylinder coil and spark plug misfire (which was interesting, since MIDAS took so much money to repair my spark plugs...) but I was just glad to have my car fixed. Overall: Nice people, expensive services, and not reliable. Just call your dealership. read more

Have been here twice. Most recently to have our headlights replaced (because the process was super complicated when we did it ourselves we couldn't bring ourselves to take it all apart again) and to have the tires balanced. We had an appt for a Saturday, dropped the car off at 10:30 AM, they weren't done until 3:40 PM. In their defense they hadn't called saying it was ready, our mistake to think tat it would have been done after 3 hours I guess. The guys working the counter were very friendly and they've done the best they can to make waiting as pleasant as possible including free coffee and drinks. It was pricier than I would have liked, but I can only assume that's an Upstate NY phenomenon because everything here is so much more expensive than everywhere else I've lived. read more

I've been ,or at least was, of the Midas in Latham for over 10 years since back when it was located on Route 9. For the most part, i was always happy with the service results and they never seemed to attempt to hose me for as much money as possible for things not necessary. About a year or so ago, there was a complete turnaround of staff and the familiar faces i had grown accustomed to dealing with were no longer around. That's when things fell apart for the service and reliability i often bragged about and recommended to others. Last October, my car wouldn't stay running after it initially started. The car was towed up and they told me they would ''play around with some things'' and try to diagnose it. The car was a '94 so the typical crutch of a computer reader for autos '96 and newer wasn't an option, so this would turn into a 7 day ordeal from hell. When they first got the car there, it supposedly was working fine and not cutting off,, which only made things more complicated for diagnosing it. Then the car wouldn't run and needed to be pushed into the shop a day or so later. The snowball rolled downhill quickly from there as they informed me that i would need a crankshaft replacement and it was about $800. While that would be a hard financial pill to swallow, the pill would become much more jagged due to the misdiagnosis. So i agree to have the work done and they tell me it will be ready the following afternoon in which they'll call me. The call never came so i called them. From there i'm informed that the car is still cutting off and they believe it's the fuel pump that they told me they previously tested and was fine. Needless to say i'm livid on the phone with the woman and didn't want to shoot the messenger, so i said i'll talk to he boss in the morning first thing. Right when they open up i call and speak to the man in charge named Mike. This man is the definition of a snake oil salesman if there ever was one. He goes into this whole story in which he's letting me know that i did need the crankshaft regardless that we now know the fuel pump is the current problem. Knowing a refund won't be happening if i tell them to rip it out and only charge me for the fuel pump which is 3 days away, i swallow my pride and play the role of sucker in hopes of just getting my car back as soon as possible. A few days later my car is finally finished with a price tag of over $1500, in which Mike stresses how much money he saved me by tinkering with labor rates and blah blah blah. My rental car expenses are over $600 at this point but Mike says that corporate will be reimbursing me for a good chunk of that so 'don't worry'. Good thing i wasn't holding my breath for that to happen, because i wouldn't be writing this review right now. Out a vehicle for over a week, out of close to $2200,, and my transmission would go the next month rendering the vehicle as a for parts sale. The last part may have had nothing to do with the incompetence i encountered, but the nightmare leading up to that 'grand finale' was 100% their fault. Stay away!!! This location replaced the tires on my Fiat 500L in 2020, and since then nothing has been right. Rims were not properly sealed, and tire pressure was at or below 10 pounds during the winter of 20-21. We returned to midas 2 times, and they failed to fix the issue, however they managed to strip/destroy the lug lock. Eventually, tire blew out, had it towed to this location to replace, and again it leaked. At the time had them look at the spare tire assembly as it was damaged, and they damaged it further having to replace the entire assembly. In the meantime, had to bring to another shop and pay to have the tires resealed properly, they have not leaked since. I returned (stupidly) to have the car inspected, at which time they removed all four tires (not sure why). I was not notified as such, but it was notified on the inspection receipt. A few months later one of the tires had a low pressure indication, I brought it to another garage to look at. The lug lock had been stripped. I replaced the lug lock (had to purchase a new one), and immediately it broke. The lugs were so tight, as installed by Midas the garage was unable to remove the tires, we then went to the dealership, they could not remove the tires, FINALLY we found a garage who remove the locking lugs and we replaced with regular lugs. Midas refuses to reimburse any of these expenses. I will NEVER return to this garage again. Completely inept. read more

This is the worst company around... especially this location. Brought my car in for an inspection. Radiator cap removed for some reason and improperly replaced and thus I blew a gasket on the side of the highway road ( on the ramp to be exact) in the middle of the night alone . Reported it to the location of the mistake and was met with terrible customer service and lack of responsibility for their negligence. Worst experience and now because I needed an inspection and used this location/ company I'm out a car! Or pay $1000's for the repair!!! read more

Bought a Groupon for an oil change since I have 100% synthetic oil in my car. It was a good price of $ 39.00 so I made the appointment and brought the car in 8:00 one morning last week. Told them I would wait for the car. After about and hour and a half, Mike brought me in the shop to review what he felt needed to be done. 1. "Your front brakes & rotors are shot".. We can replace them with our lifetime package for $ 399.00. 2. you should change& flush your brake fluid, that is $ 100.00 3. Your tires are cupping - wearing badly.. those are not good quality tires.and you should get all new tires. 4. And you need a 4 wheel alignment to fix that - $ 120.00 I said thanks for the info, but I have to get to work, I will call you next week about the brakes, etc. Brought the car to my mechanic the next day & he told me I did not need anything!! We came up to Albany for a weekend trip. My son's Girlfriend met up with us from Plattsburgh and needed to get an oil change while we were there. I called up this Midas since it was close to our hotel. I dropped the Jeep off and was able to be scheduled into this locations busy day.. We were given the oil special rate without even asking. After service was done, about an hour later, we noticed a loud buzzing type sound coming from the rear. Bought the car back and the manager Shawn immediately put the vehicle back on the lift. He noticed that the transmission fluid was low and topped it off. Instead of trying to rip us off like other mechanics probably would have with a transmission job costing us thousands, he filled the fluids up and sent us on our way. I don't typically write customer satisfaction feedback on service provided. This is because most of my experience with repair shops have not been very good. After years of being treated more like an ATM than a valued customer... I just come to expect substandard service as the norm. But, this time I felt it was important to write this feedback to thank Jarrett the manager and his folks for their outstanding customer service. I am not a New York State resident, but decided to purchase a vehicle I saw online at a dealership in Albany New York. The entire purchase was negotiated over the phone, sight unseen because the vehicle was being sold as a Certified Pre-own vehicle. This was my first time buying any vehicle without being their physically to conduct a proper inspection myself. Although the dealership told me not to worry, I felt an independent inspection was needed to ensure the vehicle was safe and reliable as advertised. I reviewed the high customer satisfaction ratings of this Midas...and I will be honest I was skeptical at first of the high ratings. But decided to go with them performing the inspection since they were closest and convenient for the dealership to deliver the vehicle for inspection. Jarrett and the employees at this local Midas really took care of me on this short no-notice/short request inspection. Jarrett, understood I was a out of state customer and was planning to travel to New York to sign documents and pick up the vehicle. He help coordinate the vehicle being dropped off by the dealership and personally ensured the vehicle had a thorough detailed inspection to determine its safety and reliability prior to purchase. Jarrett, I want to thank you and your employees for performing a very thorough inspection and keeping me informed by phone throughout the entire process. Your actions made not only the purchase stress free but also the long road trip back home. You not only met but exceeded my expectations. Keep in mind, I came here ~ 7/2014; people may have changed. I will never come here again and have not come since. A manager there, Michael Murray, will jack up prices ($900 for two brake rotor replacements!) and make it seem like he's doing you a favor. For perspective, I called Valvoline a short time later, and they said ~$300 per axle. Plus, he'll add on other potential problems and costs. I can't believe how much money I dropped in that place. When I went to my trusted German car mechanics, they told me they would have changed my brakes for half the price that I paid here. I was so pissed. I even bought 4 new tires that Mike assured me was great quality now I have to replace them because they are poor quality tires. Had 4 tires from TireRack shipped to this Midas and Dean was ready to install them right away. Compare this to BJs who told me that they are booked 2 weeks out even if I bought the tires from BJs. This is why this Midas is a preferred installer on TireRack. They honored the prices listed on TireRack and not a cent more. Very happy with the mounting and balancing job. Technician was very knowledgeable and explained what he did very clearly. Very nice store with ultra clean bathroom. Generous coffee/tea station with cold sodas too. I shot myself in the foot when I came here for an inspection. I was the only one in the store and it took them 45 minutes to get to my car. I asked them questions and they pushed them aside and didn't talk to me (because I'm a 22 year old female I don't know what I'm talking about). I had to have my dad come and ask them questions so they would answer them. Bad salesmanship, bad customer service. They told me it was ok to drive my car without an inspection sticker!! read more

So i went here for an oil change and inspection a couple of months back. It took about 2 hours to get it done. Which is about over twice as long as it should have taken. The price wasn't bad because that had a special going so all in all it was about a little over $100 because they had to replace a light bulb to inspect it ($16 for a damn bulb) But when i left the store i realized as i was driving down the road they never closed my hood properly. Now for people who service cars this is the smallest thing but can be dangerous is nothing done properly. To me this just tells me they're incompetent and along with the 2 hour wait for simple things does not make me feel safe or secure bringing my car here. The staff was friendly here but nothing enough to make up for not knowing how to do basic things like close a hood. I won't be returning to this location and wouldn't recommend it when there's a ton of other places who can do the same service but better and competently read more

I recently took my car here to get an inspection. I picked up my car and started driving home and realized that it was making a horrible noise. When I got home, we opened the hood and found that the air filter hadn't been put back in place. Seems like something that could have easily been found before they gave the car back to me. If this had been the ONLY thing that has happened there, it wouldn't have been such a big deal but about a year ago I brought it in for an oil change and they left something loose, my oil leaked out and I almost damaged my car when it ran out of oil. I took my car there for a rattle that I heard underneath my car they took it in and said they couldn't find anything wrong but that I needed a ball joint on the left side and I needed new tires total bill would have been $1,300 dollars I said I would make an appointment the following saturday thinking I would check out a couple more places and see what they would say so I called my dealership and took it there and there was nothing wrong with my ball joints but they did say I needed front pads and rotors so then I took it to another place and same thing the ball joints were fine but needed front pads and rotors. Total bill $209.00 dollars they also said my tires are good for at least another 6 or 7 months. Please people stay far away from this place. read more

I made an appt for an oil change and was told it would take 1 hour. After 1 and half hours,I was told I would have to continue to wait. They were too busy doing another car. I expressed my disappountment and was given another appt and a coupon for a free oil change. When I arrived, I again was told within an hour. After 2 and half hrs, I was done. I proceeded to do my errands. My check engine went on so I went to the closest garage.I was told a hose wasn't hooked up and my car was down 1 quart of oil. I had to pay the garage to repair Midas in Latham's oil change. 2 garages,2 days and 4hrs for an oil change .and an additional 45 minutes to repair what Midas did. Been taking my car here for almost three years and they were great up until my latest encounter with them. I was harassed about my Groupon and it took way longer than it used to to get my car checked in. I was asked questions that were unnecessary and frankly was none of their business. The guy at the desk, Dave, acted like he was doing me some huge favor by using my Groupon and punching my punch card, which I never even asked him to do to begin with. They have one more chance in my book before I give up and go somewhere where they are nicer to their customers and don't talk down to them because they're a young woman. read more

Midas serviced my car for an oil change about a month ago on 11/7/14. They set my car on FIRE! I drove it home on fire not knowing it and then got home and had to call 911 to respond to the fire. My car was a total loss. A professional fire investigator found them guilty for this. They had spilled oil. I had no intentions of getting rid of my car at all. The owner of this store Kent Smith said and I quote, " Midas will be doing something for you after my insurance pays for this" Well it took the insurance a month to get back to me and now they are not giving us the correct value for our car. We have been a very stressful fight about this. Well today Kent Smith has proved to be arrogant and disgusting towards his customers. I could have lost my life due to this negligent service at this store. Kent said and I quote, " get a lawyer, I've been sued before", i wonder why?? After reading several other reviews , this store does not meet quality standards. The only thing Midas did for me was get me a rental and make a phone call. THATS IT!!! Then treated us poorly on the other end of the phone. Please be sure they do not spill oil on your car and cause an oil fire. I agree with the other reviews don't trust this company they try to up sell everything it is over priced service I went the week of spring break for a simple oil change I agreed to go to synthetic as I sat waiting I noticed the slick manager scumbag praying on all the customers trying to get a oil change before vacation every person had a issue with there car every one it was a full waiting room if you don't agree with there findings like breaks after you leave go to your own service person to have it checked I learned the hard way they will do the shady things to make sure you come back my car had less than 10000miles they rotate my tires as part of the service of the oil change I was told I need breaks and rotors they showed me the wheel would not spin I walked up and turned it myself but they tightened my break on the rear passenger side so I had my service friend look it was find breaks even had almost full pads rotor was clean but I did not notice they tightened my rear brake to wear it out it glassed my rotor and burnt out the pads it only happen on the side they touched just a little hinky I think not DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS DO NOT TRUST THEM REMEMBER IT NOT JUST YOU IN THE CAR ITS FAMILY AND FRIENDS STAY SAFE GO SOME PLACE ELSE BE CAREFUL read more
