Valvoline has a deal with Carfax to sell you vehicle history data, including mileage. Carfax in turn sells this data to your insurance company who uses it to derive how much you drive. So if you drive more miles that you report to your insurer, Valvoline will be sure you pay a higher premium. The staff members at this location are polite and easygoing, and they only took a few minutes to change my oil and differential fluid. My son brought his car here today for an oil change. He calls me and tells me that the man doing the work on his car said he would have to have it towed out of there because whoever changed the oil before stripped the plug and it was leaking, he couldn't drive it. After I got on the phone with the mechanic, he tried to tell me that it was like this before he touched it, and he couldn't fix it. It was not, the person who did it was my husband and the car was not leaking oil. Why would we leave my son's car like that and let him drive it around risking him blowing the engine? Not a drop of oil in my driveway and it wasn't low on oil. After I said I was coming down there to speak with them, magically they could fix it, but it was a temporary fix. They charged him for the oil change, and we left with an even bigger problem. I understand mistakes happen but own them. Don't treat people like they are stupid. In my opinion they should not have charged him for the oil change since now I have another problem to fix, currently my husband is under his car fixing it. I sent my son for an oil change to take some stress off my husband, and I will never go here again. After reading the reviews, I am not the only person they did this to. Don't go here. read more

Brought 3 cars here for years even though its out of the way. Always very polite, quick service so I was repeat customer. Not today. Interaction with rep and assistant manager was abrupt at best. When they spoke to me it was "hey buddy this, hey buddy that." They seemed more interested in there own conversation which was in Spanish (so I did not understand) but included a lot of pointing and laughing. (One exception was young man who did the actual work, very polite both times he came to speak to me.) Half way through the rep interacting with me ran my credit card, flipped the receipt at me then stuck the reminder sticker on the back of my hand. Never had that happen before; usually the old sticker is removed and new sticker is put in its place on windshield. Maybe it was just a Friday afternoon, but no need for me to drive to Methuen any more for that type of service, particularly with price now up to $150 for small Audi A3 read more

I came here for an oil change since I was in the area and overdue for one. I spent more time waiting in line than the actual service took. I came on a Saturday afternoon so I imagine if you come during the week the line should be shorter. The service team and the manager were fine, but I wasn't especially pleased with my interaction with the customer service representative. For one, he spelled my last name incorrectly when I told him like five times how to spell it (my last name is uncommon but by no means hard to spell). Secondly he was pretty pushy about selling additional items, which I assume the employees are trained to do. He asked if I wanted to replace my back windshield wiper for about $25 just because it was "broken". Some of the lining was falling off but it worked just fine so I declined. I got an oil change and the air filter replaced. The total cost was about $90, and this includes the $10 coupon I used, which seems ridiculous to me. The labor charge accounted for about a third of the cost. I don't plan to come here again. While drive-through oil changes are convenient, I'd rather just make an appointment and wait to get it done. Even if I have to wait longer, I'll take that over paying more and having to deal with an employee trying to sell me a bunch of extra parts and services like a car salesman. read more

Not a place to feel comfortable as a female. The sexism was unreal as well as the blatant gawking. Ladies, my experience coming here with my husband versus without were two very experiences. I was spoken down to from the second I joined the line. I grew up with a "car dad" and actually had a good chuckle with some of their ignorant comments. Needed an oil change and in the area on business. Waze guided me here and I was totally satisfied. The crew was neat and professional. I had to wait in line and was met when I pulled up and told about how long it would be (15-20) min. All bays were full and a car waiting at each. After about 10 minutes another worker came out and apologized for the wait and gave me an about 5 minute estimate. Pulled in and staff had things moving, explained all the options. I know they gave a script to follow so he went through the list. Just needed oil change but I always go with the synthetic. They ran through a quick light, wiper and tire check. Soon enough I was done. One thing that really struck me was that there was no yelling out like at Jiffy Lube. Everything was calm an professional. Definitely recommend this location. read more

I never leave reviews. I've been to this location a 100 times, never an issue, but after today I'll never go back. There's 3 bays, all used. Two cars waiting. I was the 3rd. I was in the middle. One of the workers comes out and asks me to back up because the guy on my left has been here for 10 min before me. Fine, no problem. I go to the left bay line. Center goes in next then right. Then, two more pull in to wait. There's clearly something wrong with the car I'm behind because the 2 people that went in when I got there were already done. Two cars pull in to wait, 1 center, 1 right. They go in. Keep in mind they came in after me. The worker doesn't seem to care. I was asked to move but these people weren't. I wait more. The two people that came after me were already done. Two more to into the bays. Those two cars came in 20 min after me. No one seems to care. 40 min of waiting and I leave. Worst servi e ever. Went in a few months back to get an oil change (out of desperation, hadn't been to Valvoline in decades). It seemingly went well until I went to the dealer to get my next oil change only to find they had ripped down the plastic cover that protects the oil pan, sheared off the top of several bolts (leaving the rest in the hole) then zip tied the cover back on. The dealer asked if we had gone to Valvoline because apparently this type of shoddy workmanship is common. Do not go here. read more

Received an email back from customer service who absolutely did nothing to fix the issue still cost me $115 extra because I waited too long to make a complaint. The weather was too cold To take off the spare tire that I had to put on and put underneath my truck. I thought it was a flat tire due to a nail and waited for the weather to get warmer to have it fixed. It ended up being a sensor broken by the store not a nail. read more

If I could leave less than one star I would. I went in on 11/12/20 for a regular oil change. The technician Mike (also the manager) "serviced" my vehicle. By service I mean he completely destroyed my drain plug when he attempted to take it off. He told me he was missing the correct tool but was going to look for it. Next thing I knew he was hammering at the bottom of my car for at least 10 minutes. I had to bring my car to a dealership after for them to spend a hour fixing his mess. I've brought every car to this location since I was 18 but I will never ever go back. I urge anyone to forgo the convenience and go somewhere they actually know what they're doing. read more

Been taking our cars here for few years now and they have always been good for us, until 3 weeks ago. Took my wife's car there again as usual. This time they were in such a mad rush to get me in and out that whoever the tech was that checked the engine oil dipstick, never fully reinserted the stick back in all the way and dirt got into the oil. I was advised this by a top mechanic in our family who doesn't trust places like this. Our nephew told us about the leak, so he advised me to take the car to a certain place 10 minutes from the house. Sure enough, the guys at our local Valvoline detected a leak but they had the WRONG location of the leak. Valvoline said it was a leaking rear differential when in fact our oil drip pan is leaking, and that's an almost $1k fix. We won't be back to Valvoline again. read more

I filed a complaint with Valvolume due to price gouging of filters I asked the mechanic if i'd find it cheaper and said maybe a little. Well, I found it cheaper- they charged 3x the most expensive filter I could find at two different auto stores. When Valvoline called to discuss my complaint they said it was a consumer probLen, my error. I could've said no and he also said they charge the same price as dealerships!!!! so if you want to pay dealership pricing for any parts go here. Or save your money and go elsewhere. read more

These guys told me they could flush my transmission in my Toyota and to come right over on Saturday. I drive there and they tell me "oh it's a Toyota we have to order the fluid come back Tuesday. I call today to make sure they had the fluid and now they tell me they can't do it all because the transmission is sealed. I asked why no one could figure this out on Saturday when they were looking right at the truck and got no response. Not and intelligent one anyway. I had my oil changed at this location for many years without any problems. Then one of the guys told me I needed a transmission fluid change, that the transmission fluid was in "terrible" condition and that I should get it done ASAP and have them do it right then, immediately. I was puzzled because it hadn't been that long since I had the transmission changed at the dealer, so I said no. Took the car to the dealer, who told me that the level and condition of the transmission fluid was totally fine and confirmed that I wasn't due for a transmission fluid change for quite some time. Best experience iv ever had getting an oil change! Tony was my fiancé and I's Mechanic and he went above and beyond! Our license plate light was out and previously when we went the guy who did it could not fix our light. This time we mentioned that and tony popped them both right out and fixed them for us no problem! He was polite and professional and even offered us each bottled water because it was so hot outside! When it came to my turn they took the person who had been waiting behind me cause "they were there first" I couldn't have been more upset. Went in with a $10 coupon. They upcharged me - wait for it - $10 for a "special" oil filter (which isn't special at their competitors.) Then there was another $5 extra charge for something else that escapes me at the moment. After some negotiation I was able to get my oil change for... the full advertised price. Then they lost a bolt for my intake manifold cover and sent me on my way without saying anything. Called their number twice and reached a fax machine tone both times. Eventually reached the manager who said "come in and we'll see what we can do" but by this time I decided I don't want to spend any more time with these people. read more

I had used this oil change location many many times in the past. However, my last visit there will be my absolute last - and I didn't even stay long enough to have them do anything to my car. My previous visit there, I had wanted to change the grade of oil used in my car, but they didn't ask me before they did it - they just put the same in. Ok, shame on me for not speaking up. This time, I said clearly and plainly as I drove in exactly what I wanted. The woman attendant instantly gave me attitude as if I were crazy and wanting to know why. I gave her a reason, but honestly it shouldn't matter why. I wanted what I wanted and as the customer, I thought I was entitled to such. Another male attendant came over and asked what was going on.... and the female attendant rolled her eyes at him and told him what I wanted in the most condescending tone I have ever heard in my life. They both looked at me as if I were the stupidest woman on the planet, and couldn't possibly know what I was saying. I had it by this point, let them know that I didn't need the attitude and left - before they actually did anything.
