I am not sure what is shaved since they were clear it's not ice. Maybe it's frozen milk? I don't know. It's a treat for a child. The potion drinks were tasty but over all this is kind of expensive for what you get. I'd go back but it's going to be a special treat not a regular place.

I was in the area and craving dessert and this was the top listed place on yelp and I get why. I got the Halo Halo Cheesecake, off of their "snoe" menu. It's like really fine shave ice which gives it a satisfying texture. The top half is taro flavor and the bottom cheese cake. It was like a real halo halo with a bunch of toppings: jack fruit, red beans, flan, coconut strings, condense milk, and ube condensed milk to name a few. The menus have photos of each items and a clear description, which is always appreciated. I thought the service was good... polite and quick, can't ask for more. The serving size was pretty generous, too. I definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area!

the coloring pages they gave us :p

Such a family friendly place! The customer service is so awesome too, me and my friends came in an hour before closing on a Saturday and it was packed with families and their little ones, they have a tv in there playing a movie for them and plenty of seating. After we had ordered one of the workers offered us coloring pages and asked us if there was any specific movie we wanted on the tv, it felt like we were guests in someone's house lol. As for the food it was delicious, the smoreos shaved ice is reminiscent of bingsu (korean shaved ice) and the tiramisu and tres leches is worth a try too. All the menu options have pictures which I absolutely love to see because I like to know what i'm ordering, the drink options on the menu looked delicious and I will definitely be coming here again to try them!

The BEST dessert around! Not your normal "ice cream" but not your normal "shaved ice" either. The melt in your mouth texture and amazing flavors are to die for. We highly recommend giving this place a try.

Cute shop with ample parking. Service was helpful and fast. We ordered the medium size Halo halo cheesecake and Peanut butter penguin. Both were delicious! The snow was a nice light texture. They hit the spot on a hot summer day. I can't wait to go back and try other flavors!

Smoreo is so good. This shave ice bring us back to Hawaii. So Onolicious

The drinks are worth the cost. The service is awesome and the ambience feels great. The shave ice here is the best in town. I recommend visiting this hidden gem. This as close as you can get to Hawaiian Shave Ice.

Came to Vampire Penguin in Marysville while on vacay this past summer at the recommendation of a local. Wow! So unbelievably different. It's like a combination of ice cream and shaved ice - it's really hard to describe the texture but it's amazing and light and fluffy! It's definitely on the pricier side - so a treat but oh so fun. The name of the store is taken from a book and they even sell the books here. We read it and we're surprised to find it's actually a quite sad story. Lots of seating, lots of light, great place to come for something different! So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well 1) it was pricey 2) we didn't get quite what we ordered but it was still yummy and 3) I was charged a fee for using a credit card even though I paid in cash. (I did eventually get it refunded after someone called the manager but how many people are being charged a 5% fee here for a credit card and not realizing it when they paid cash? Eek!) We will definitely be back next time we are stateside in Washington!

If you are looking for something unique, this is a place to add to your list to try. They have some basic flavors or get one of the specials. I think I counted about 22 options. This is "snow" which is kinda like shaved ice but better. My opinion is that the fruity flavors are best. For those counting calories, this is a great option to get your sweets and not feel guilty about it. This is a special treat, not your average dessert. I had the halo-halo which combines taro flavored snow with jack fruit, coconut, red and white beans, and an ube paste. A little taste of the Philippines. Got the smallest size, 12oz, which was plenty but there are larger options especially if sharing.

Good option if you're in the area! There's not really too much dessert options up north, so this is a fun one. Service was friendly and fast. In terms of ambiance, we came closer to close, but there were other families there earlier enjoying some shaved ice. The shaved ice is a little expensive at $10-14 dollars, but there is nothing really like it nearby! Good flavor options and plenty of toppings.

No kids sizes/prices. A small strawberry snow with no toppings was like $7 or $8. NOT the place to bring your whole family on a hot day.

I was really excited to try this place. When your kids are dairy-free, going out for ice cream isn't the easiest thing to do so we were excited for a dairy free alternative. We came here on a 90- degree Saturday afternoon anticipating a line out the door for icy treats. There was no line. And the last two customers had abandoned their snow treats barely half eaten on the eat-in counter. They do not have kids sizes/prices. So I ordered two snow confections for my husband and me & two small 7oz strawberry snows for my kids. The employee said I was better off ordering a 12 oz for them because it would cost less. I asked if they could divide the 12 oz into two servings. No they could not. $37 and maybe a 12 minute wait later we dug into our snows. Our kids liked 'em well enough, but that's only because they don't yet understand the value of a dollar. To my husband and me, we both agreed these things--think ice cream sundaes with the ice cream replaced by flavored shaved ice--tasted like regret. Like we would have been more satisfied spending half the price (for twice as much) on Hawaiian shaved ice at a flea market. Why did they have to overcomplicate it? Something tells me this place won't last long. I mean if they can't sell snow on a 90-degree day, I'd say the writing is already on the wall. This just isn't the economy for $10 snow sundaes. Next time we're in the mood for a cold treat, we'll be going to Dairy Queen or 7-11 for a slurpee or the flea market for a shaved ice. Vampire Penguin bled us dry.

Cute little spot with friendly employees. A big menu with very creative drinks and icy snow desserts.

This place is seriously AMAZING!!! My husband and i decided to try a new spot while our daughter was at school. Upon first entering it was noticeably so clean, the ambiance and atmosphere were warm and inviting as were the workers who helped us as this was a first time experience! They also offer an assortment of freeze dried candy!! I can't wait to bring my daughter next time as they have books and movies going for kids! (YES KID friendly!!!)

    The hours of the business

This was on a Tuesday May 6th, not Friday or Saturday. In my review I noted that me and my coworker called around 10 am and asked if they were open and the employee said "Yes". We then tried to order on the apps but it said you weren't open until 1. Google shows you were open at 930 am which is what led to us calling in first place to see if Google was right. If you aren't open until 1 why would your employee tell us that you're open? And then proceed to let us order and pick 2-3 hours prior to you actually being open? At no time did she say "actually we're closed til 1" which she easily could've done because she really had no issue giving us an attitude over the phone and in person when we picked up the food. If there was a misunderstanding I get it but the attitude was really not necessary and a simple "we're not open" would've sufficed.

My friend and I visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon - a perfect setting for long chats. They also had a clothing pop-up in a cozy corner. We shared the black sesame einspanner, mango bingsu, and strawberry croffle. On the croffle, the sauce was sweet and the strawberries were perfect. Everything was delicious, extremely high quality and so esthetic. I loved the little details, like the spoon shaped like a little spade and a pink straw with a heart cross section. We had a very happy time at Our Place. Visiting here was like being transported to Korea. They even have croffles with flavors like brown cheese, and ube einspanners, and injeolmi bingsu! (They also had the most amazing Oreo cheesecake I've ever seen in the display case!) Anyway, the bingsoo was amazing! The texture was similar to ice cream and the flavors were amazing. I also got mini mochi with mine and they were so good! However, just one mini bingsoo was around $12... The service: It did take roughly 15ish minutes to receive my food. They also forgot the mini mochi, but gave it to me when I asked and even gave me an extra little container of it! Which was super sweet of them. The environment: This is possibly the cutest building I've been in in a long time. The decor, the layout... all of it is fire. I love the plants they have at the tables and around the building!! The menu was also incredibly easy to read and understand. There are kiosks to order at and they have photos of each menu item (which was great because I originally wasn't sure what bingsoo was). There are plenty of tables, chairs, and room. There's only one single stall bathroom, however. Final thoughts: I really loved the bingsoo, it was delicious. I would love to come back for that cheesecake I saw in the display case... However, it is spendy so if I do indulge myself, it will definitely have to be only a rare treat. Also, the waiting time for my food was a little bit disappointing.

Our group of five stopped in, after visiting the nearby lavender farm on a Saturday afternoon, with all of us loving it. It was a beautiful afternoon in the Pacific Northwest, and our son-in-law drove us to this shop when my wife's mom suggested we all go for ice cream (her treat). Nobody disagreed (duh). It is located in downtown Woodinville, with non-metered street parking being the norm. Serviced was great and it wasn't too busy, which was a good thing since the unusual flavors required a bit of sampling. My daughter and her husband got a 2 scooper ($8.95). The rest of us shared a flight ($13.95) which is a choice of SIX flavors in a banana split type dish. Quite a few of the offerings are Vegan (relying on pea proteins), and are very serious about eliminating cross contamination (dedicated scoops for these ice creams that are stored in a different freezer). There was outside seating, so their dog was able to sit with us as well. Out of the six flavors chosen (Vegan Soursop Sorbet, Pickle, Vanilla, Espresso Bean, Strawberry Balsamic, Death by Chocolate), I really liked the Espresso and Strawberry. The Pickle was definitely worth trying, and one could clearly taste the diced/minced pickle pieces throughout, and could actually taste the pickle juice squirting out a little bit as you bit into it. It's unusual and a seasonal flavor. After visiting, I learnt that the owner had graduated from the dairy program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which made me happy. Both my wife and I went to school there, and we raised our daughter in the Madison area, with many happy memories of eating both Babcock ice cream from the University Union and the Chocolate Shoppe (which is HQed there). I found it interesting that this store is located so close to the University of Washington, which I've always thought of as the second 'UW', to the primary UW in Wisconsin. But in reality, outside of the old Big Ten country (i.e. the Midwest), it looks like UW is thought of as Washington, with the domain uw.edu belonging to it, as well. Oh well...

It felt so weird. All the songs were the grunge emo type, which I get is someone's personal taste, but you'd think the owners would monitor what is being played. The atmosphere is so different. The price is insane for what the product is. I got the mango sticky rice and before they would put a cute thai tea bear or something on top, with a lot of rice. Now its this tiny little sample size cup of rice, nothing cute about the food, so overpriced. I get why they almost never have people there anymore. With a mix of sweetness, tartness, and acidity, the bingsoo has balance and the contrast actually helps each flavor shine. The berry juices even add flavor to the bingsoo below (and there are berries at the bottom). The only mediocre aspect is the whipped cream on top which is just whatever. Taro Bingsoo - the menu has alternated between ube ice cream and taro ice cream but I think it's always been taro ice cream because it's not overly sweet. Red bean is also sweet but after devouring the toppings (including the ice cream), the bingsoo itself doesn't offer much. It's sweet shaved milk with condensed milk but the taro flavor isn't as potent.
