Friend and I came here back to back weeks. I first had their banh mi heo quay (crispy pork turn) with an egg. Bomb! Never knew houston had Banh mi like this, I've only had it in OC. It was so crispy and flavorful. Came back the following week for their bun Bo hue in stone bowls. The broth was piping hot and bubbling till the end! They are located in the more run down part of Houston. I have seen a couple of homeless people lying around the plaza. There is plentiful parking. It is a mom and pop type of place with old school looking decor. I think they also own the restaurant next door. I tried their banh mi sandwiches and spring rolls. The banh mi is good, but it's a little too salty for me. The spring rolls were good too, but it took a really long time to arrive at our table. We finished the banh mi sandwiches and waited even longer for the spring rolls order to finally come. What I dislike is they round up the total and did not give me back my change when I paid in cash. Saw a review of this Banh mi place on YouTube and am so glad we tried it. Then bread is light and crispy and the filling is fragrant and delicious. We ordered to sandwiches to go for our flight but it smelled so good we had to eat one right away. The people who work here are super sweet and friendly and we had a good time talking with them. Must try this place it's well worth it. The prices are very good too. Highly recommend!! I got their roast pork banh mi and it was really good. It was unique and had little crispy pork skin in it but the meat itself was a bit dry. I also liked how they had pickled daikon in the banh mi which I don't think I see much of at other places. The service was quick and the workers were nice. I called to place an order for takeout since I was on the way to work. I hate leaving negative reviews, but this experience really disappointed me. I called ahead to place a to-go order because I was on my way to work. The employee hung up before my order was taken, and when I called back, no one answered. When I arrived, there were several employees present, but I stood waiting until another employee finally helped me. During checkout, the employee who had answered the phone barely spoke to me. I asked questions because I was confused about the payment, but he didn't respond, which made the interaction uncomfortable. When my order was ready, instead of handing it to me like he did for other customers, he placed it on a table several feet away for me to retrieve myself. It was early in the morning, and I was simply hoping for a smooth pickup before work. Instead, I left feeling unwelcome and disappointed by the customer service. I hope future customers are treated with more courtesy and communication. read more

Okay so this is definitely not a review I saw myself typing out, but I wanted to to give a honest review because we paid $54 for everything and I've never spent that much on pho and banh mi together. So when we order we sat down thinking it was going to be served cooked and in a bowl, but when it was finished he brang a bunch of to-go boxes out and I said "wow I didn't know it was going to be for to-go" because we sat down at the table. mind you, me and my husband have been fasting because he has been having doctor appointments for IBS, and today we decided me want pho with a banh mi. So we head home and it did not take too long to go home, when we got home we open it to find the raw beef touch the noodles, on top of that it was not the traditional pho noodles, it was very thick noodles. I went back because my husband was not feeling well, and asked if they can change out the noodles and cook the meat at least. It was my first time trying this place and I told them that. because i usually go to other spots but they are closed today. They ended up "changing" it out and just putting the cook beef and noodle in the same container. I did not want to keep saying anything so I just left, when I got home we decided to try it because it was $54 all together. It was probably one of the most disappointing things I have tried. The sandwich was not bad, but I was really wanting pho after not eating for two days. Just over all disappointing and I don't see myself coming back. The customer service was great but over all too many health code violation for me. I will try and come back in a month or two to see if it is better and give them a second chance. I guess, thank you for changing it out, I wish you would have use a new container, I really hope we don't get sick because that is very serious. I will try again in a month or So to see if I should change the rating. For now I will stick to saigon pho. And other places as well. See you soon. Also, I would believe more of the negative reviews, and honestly I might have this place get checked out. We should not be paying that much to have a lot of health code violations. While I was eating, a baby roach came across my table. The worst part of my visit was that when I went to pay, they charged me $3 extra due to price increase that was not adjusted on their menu. The combo pho on half of their menus say $13.99 and the other menus say $14.99. On the menus, putting the pho in stoneware is $1; however, they also increase the price to $2. They also didn't change the stoneware price on the menus. I was trying to tell them it's not right for them to charge the increase if the menus don't have the price changes, but they didn't honor the prices. Very disappointed. read more

I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon after hearing about this place earlier in the week at work. It is located in an older shopping center on Beechnut and the parking lot was packed. I walked in and the restaurant was busy but not packed. We were greeted and shown to a seat promptly. I ordered a bánh mì đặc biệt, bánh mì bò nướng, chả giò and bánh bèo Huế. The chả giò (Vietnamese Egg rolls) were good. Crispy and the pork inside was juicy and tasted great. The bánh mì đặc biệt was packed with meat and veggies and there was a generous amount of patê. It tasted very good. The bread was not as crispy as I like but not bad. The bánh mì bò nướng was also very good. The meat was tender and flavorful. It was one of the better tasting bánh mì bò nướng as far as the meat goes. The star of the show for me was the bánh bèo Huế! Bánh bèo is a steamed rice cake with dried shrimp, ground mung beans , diced crisp pork rinds, and scallions. This is not a dish I find on many menus, so I had to order it because I really like it. This bánh bèo did not disappoint at all. I added a spoonful of nước chấm, pried it out of the dish and gobbled it down. It was magnificent! I would definitely come back for that. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was typical of most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to where people are friendly but busy, so do not expect long conversations from the staff. However the waiter was very polite and helpful when I asked him a few questions about the menu. I did try to order bánh mì phá lẩu but they were out. Next time I will come earlier. so this place is off the beaten path of china town bellaire but it's worth it!!! i think it's one of the best combination banh mi sandwhich i've had in a long time! i ordered to go, veggies on the side, no toast. i toasted at home and it's still just as tasty as if it was just made by VBM and Pho. They are generous on the pate and butter. Good amount of meat to bread ratio. There's a hidden surprise sausage in there that elevates the dish but i won't give it away! you have to try for yourself! Service was ok. Ambiance was a little of chaos when servers run around to take order, or when foods come out. I am not a big fan of thố đá, so i am fine with the regular bowl. I ordered bánh đa cua đồng.. In my opinion, I didn't taste much cua đồng flavor, but they gave alot of toppings, not enough noodles though. BBH was acceptable, beef shanks was tender. Came here with my daughter and sister for a quick lunch. I had the popular roast pork banh mi previously and wanted to try something else. My sister and I opted to try the Bo Ne while my daughter got the com thit nuong. The ca phe sua da is really good here and has such a smooth flavor as you are drinking it. While waiting for the food the service is better than other Vietnamese restaurants. Had multiple staff check on us if we had order or needed anything else. The only thing I will say about the restaurant is that it is compact together. Tables are really close with not much wiggle room from your table to the next. The Bo Ne arrives sizzling with a toasty bread, salad, pate and butter. The salad has a different dressing than other restaurant. Can't say I was a fan nor did I dislike it. The plate looks amazing with Chinese sausage, egg, whole cloves of garlic and onions. Meat is chewy and the sauce was alright. This is a dish I will skip and stick to my familiar place for Bo Ne. My daughter Com Thit Nuong looks and tasted good, however the soup that accompany the dish was salty. Again another dish I may not get in the future from here.
