    Vegan strawberry matcha
    Anchal A.

Loved the different flavors and the number of vegan options available! Sampled a couple and went with the vegan strawberry matcha. It was creamy and tastes sort of like a strawberry milkshake (unexpected since it's vegan!). I would have appreciated a non-vegan version lol but that's just me Lots of seating inside and was not crowded when I went on a sunday evening!

Beautiful location, great service and I love that they have vegan options. The person at the counter was very patient with our group when we requested tasting of various flavors. The prices are reasonable and there's a beautiful outdoor area that you can sit adjacent to the restaurant.

Hard to find places with tasty vegan ice cream and this did not disappoint! The honeycomb ice cream was also delicious. They let you taste anything you want even when it's busy which I love. There's also plenty of seating inside so you can sit and enjoy your ice cream.

Van Leeuwen is open late and has a ton of options. They provide small samples of anything you'd like to try. I sampled some of their vegan oat milk based ice cream, which was all delicious, but I settled on the new espresso brownie. It was some of my favorite ice cream I've tried to date. It was cold outside, but I still chose to sit in the courtyard area right beside the shop. It's all lit up for the holidays and it was very relaxing. They have plenty of indoor seating as well!

Picture this: I'm sitting at the booth, my boyfriend spoon fed me a bite of the Brown Sugar Honeycomb Brownie - The song "At Last" starts playing on the speaker, I am now transported into a chocolate commercial and I am flying in the clouds. Just found out Bonnaroo canceled, just as their sign says when you walk in "A Life Without Anything Good Is Bad" Van Leeuwan, you mended the broken pieces of my heart! (P.S. I ordered a bowl of the Mango Sticky Rice and the Blue Jasmine Passion Fruit 12/10 for flavor and creativity! I was feeling spontaneous and the flavor combo was beyond my hopes and expectations thank you to the team for letting my sample the Blue Jasmine and giving me recommendations!)

Van Leeuwen is some of the best ice cream you can get in Nashville. I have always felt that the most elite ice cream was in Ohio with the likes of Graeter's, Jeni's, and Mitchell's and even smaller chains that are phenomenal but not quite in that upper echelon. Throughout many states, I have seen that the best ice cream doesn't even touch the second tier of Ohio Ice cream, but Van Leeuwen is in that top tier. You cannot go wrong with any flavor as they are all creative, satisfying, and bold.

I love Van Leeuwen and always bought their pints at the store. I was happy to see that Nashville got a storefront and couldn't wait to try. Good and bad but their store ice cream tastes exactly like the ones in the pint. They are a tad bit overpriced. The one scoop looked like a kids size was nearly $7. It was very itty bitty, size of jeni's kids scoop lol. I would rather stick to my grocery store pints ($6) since it tastes exactly the same. I will come here for special occasions or when I'm in the area. It's definitely not something to go out of the way for. The brighter side, you can sample what you haven't tried yet and the staff was friendly.

Able to sample so many different flavors before making a decision! Loved trying their delicious flavors from strawberry matcha, earl grey, double chocolate, etc. I ended up getting the big face coffee affogato!

I love Van Leeuwen ice cream -- they are uniquely creamy and rich, with an amazing collection of flavors! This particular outlet in Gulch can get quite busy, with both tourists and locals stopping by for a scoop. While I preferred sitting inside during the peak summer month of June, you can also sit outside overlooking Noble Park. Although there was a line when I arrived, it moved quickly. Honestly, I felt like a kid in a candy shop -- so many exciting flavors that I was torn between them! I chose the "Blue Jasmine Passion Fruit" and Sicilian Pistachio ice creams. The Sicilian pistachio was nutty and creamy--my dream ice cream come true! All the nutty flavor is packed into a smooth, creamy texture. The flavor was fresh and natural without that rancid nut taste, if you know what I mean. The Blue Jasmine Passion Fruit was a surprisingly good flavor--tangy, with a hint of floral notes. I highly recommend trying this one! I want to highlight that all the ice creams I sampled at Van Leeuwen taste natural, and they are not brightly artificially colored. The Earl Grey tea ice cream is also quite good. Contrary to what I expected, this flavor is not any mundane tea ice cream; it has strong notes of citrus. This can be an acquired taste for some, though. The cost is also economical, making it one of my favorite parlors in the city.

This was a great place to stop on our trip. We tried a couple different unique flavors and ended up getting double scoops because they were so good!

Their ice creams are creamy and naturally flavored. I have tried the Brambleberry Crunch, which is one of my favorites. Their Darkest Chocolate ice cream is also delicious and decadent. But the Hibiscus Chili was the most underrated flavor. I think it deserves a lot more hype. The ice cream shop at this location can get very busy, but the service is extremely quick. The team at Jeni's is always patient with me, even when I am confused with all their range of flavors. I particularly love how the shop smells of baked waffle cones.

It's long, it's inevitable, and trying to fight it is a rookie mistake. Because when ice cream is this profoundly good, crowds happen. Step two: Don't panic. The crew behind the counter operates with the high-speed efficiency of a pit crew, yet somehow maintains the absolute patience of saints while you undergo an existential crisis deciding on flavors. My personal blueprint for success was all about contrast. I engineered a double-scoop masterpiece: a heavy, deeply decadent, unapologetic chocolate base, perfectly countered by a lighter, delicate second scoop to balance the universe. It was an elite flavor pivot. Delicious doesn't even cover it. Meanwhile, my wife absolutely devoured her fruit-forward flavors with a speed that felt slightly competitive. Total sensory overload in the best way possible. I'm giving this place a flawless five stars, mostly because I have to, but also because I am currently stalking the freezer aisle of my local Publix like a person possessed, trying to hunt down pints to replicate this high until I can get back to Nashville. Do your tastebuds a favor. Just get in line.

I did appreciate they gave me 2 extra cups so I was able to easily divide it for my 3 kids. The ice cream itself was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable rancid oil smell inside the shop, which detracted from the experience. There is plenty of indoor seating, but the space lacks much ambiance or character. On a nice day, the outdoor area is definitely the better option. One downside is parking. Much of the street parking in 12 South has recently been changed to permit-only, which is a huge bummer. There are a few spots directly in front of the shop, but your best bet is probably parking near Sevier Park and walking over. Overall, it was okay, but given the price and the experience, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

While a friend was in town and on the 4th of July where the area was far less busy we made the trip over there! The seasonal ice cream was peach - which is one of my favorite summer flavors! I thought the ice cream was good, I really loved the pickle dip for the fries on the side, and I got just the plain salted fries which were also good. However, as a place that does just fries and ice cream I expected the fries to be more than just good. Maybe getting a flavor would have improved them but I think the basic fry should stand out on its own. We had arrived shortly after opening the the grease from the fryer kinda filled the space as well, which wasn't the most appetizing smell but it's hard with a mostly open kitchen. The employees were really kind and the food came out quickly! I enjoyed my experience overall, but I think I had bigger expectations for the fries in my head than in reality.
