Our group of 15 needed a place to celebrate a birthday and vibe for our first night in New Orleans. The Vandal did not disappoint. We were seated in a large u-shaped section in their covered patio area. What a beautiful space and the DJ was fantastic. We ordered several hookahs, food and bottle service and everything was top-tier. My favorite was the Thai Shrimp. The shrimp are breaded and HUGE with a sweet chili sauce. My hubby had the Sweet Chili plate which came with shrimp and fried rice with a garlic sauce...so good! Our server for the night was Natalia and I really have to give her props. Awesome place with great selection. The staff is NOT friendly and clearly wants to leave 10 min before closing. Amazing selection of flavors, drinks, and food. I found it very off putting related to the staff. I am shocked at how unfriendly they are. Ambiance is interesting inside, kinda trendy. Lots of drinks to choose from on the menu. However, again, I have never been to a place that treats customers the way they do. Was visiting and stopped by to check out Vandal's happy hour because I've heard good things about them. When we walked in the restaurant was pretty empty so we were told to sit where we wanted. The bartender brought menus to our table, but it took a while for a server to come. Once we were able to put in our orders we sat and waited for about 45min and never even received a drink. We finally found the server and she said they had a system issue, but she never came and told or updated us. We asked how much longer it would be and she couldn't say. She also said that they couldn't just make our drinks, hookah, and food without a ticket. She claimed she was speaking to the manager on the phone to try to figure it out. A bartender then came up to our table and made our drinks. We ended up moving out to the patio because it looked like they were getting all the service out there. As soon as we moved our order started coming out to us. This was definitely not a good experience for my first time. The service was lacking! read more

They they indoor and outdoor seating, you can even purchase sections. My friend is a hookah pro and she swears that Vandals has the best hookahs and flavors (she recommends blueberry mint) in New Orleans. I personally like their drinks and fries. I like to do hookah occasionally, so I looked into hookah lounges in New Orleans & found Vandal. When you enter there's a dim lite cozy seating area with a bar. They have two restrooms towards the back & there larger side is outside. There is a covering above, but not covering the whole top so air is still circulating. The space is big. They have a DJ & some tv screens as well. The drinks are reasonably priced ($13-$17) as well as the hookah. They also have someone coming around to change the coal so you never get that burnt smoke flavor. I would definitely return. read more

I've passed this place more times than I can count but finally decided to give them a chance on a girl's day out. After being rained out of our brunch spot, we headed there to continue our fun. The place was cute and after being rained on, we were happy to hear they had a closed in patio: well semi closed because some spots had water pouring through the ceiling. We grabbed a dry table and placed an order. Our server was really nice and a new hire. She had the unpleasant job of telling us that only 2 people per hookah: what a money grab. Then she was set on promoting this blueberry lemon drop. $130 later for 2 people and I didn't have a single buzz and felt like I had wasted money. It was worth the try. First time here, and would definitely try again. Pros: the hookah was on point and was hitting smooth and strong without being overly harsh. I don't smoke regularly, so this is a major plus for me. The staff was friendly and inviting, and the ambiance was sultry. Even the patrons were attractive, making me feel a little out of place. Definitely dress up a bit and pretend to be cool. Another positive is the unisex bathrooms with UV hand dryers. Cons: we ordered the spinach goat cheese pizza which needed to be put under the broiler for a few minutes: it was cold and tasted store bought. Another negative was the configuration of chairs and heaters in the outdoor area: it was hard to maneuver around without bumping into other people, and with COVID, the tent and closeness can't be the best idea...definitely needed more airflow and separation. The drinks are watered down and the hookah was weak. However the atmosphere was nice, I did enjoy the vibe of the place.
