Case in point: Lisa Vanderpump established The Vanderpump Dog Foundation to rescue dogs in China from the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. The foundation also encourages more humane treatment for dogs worldwide and also assists dogs domestically. As part of this initiative, she opened the Vanderpump Dog Rescue & Retail center in Los Angeles. 100% of proceeds from sales & adoptions go to the foundation. They also offer grooming services. A few years ago, a friend of mine adopted a dog from here - a beautiful tripod chihuahua mix. She was happy with the adoption process and loves her little princess. I was having dinner next door and stopped in to check the store out. As expected, the place is meticulously perfect and the décor is bougie with lots of cute plush dog toys & merch. Off to the side is a section where the fur babies that are up for adoption reside in posh play pens with white picket fences. There is also a nice area on the rooftop where potential adopters can spend quality time with their future fur baby. The staff here are very friendly, and I got to meet one of the pups named Meatball as he was on his way out for a walk. An amazing dog groomer. Cost pretty much the same as everywhere else but proceeds go too animals. I love this place. I have a West Highland terrier name, Woody. The first time I took him here his haircut was so beautiful. I was shocked. Took my dog here and the groomer was super kind, I picked him up and he had a perfect cut. When he got home from the groomer he had diarrhea. He then had it the next day as well. I took him to the vet, they said that his anal glands weren't properly cleaned. He also had flea bites on his groin and a rash on his back. I love the cut, but there are too many issues that have derived from this cut. read more

All of the staff members are super friendly and I love the vibe of the store. When I make an appointment, I always choose Lucy because amazing with my pup who struggles with separation anxiety. She is very communicative and ensures that I am satisfied with how my pup's fur will be styled. She does such an amazing job!! As they state they are a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are accepted. However, they are very particular in the amount they want to accept. Just to set the tone, this occurred when it was season 9 of the real housewives of Beverly Hills. As mention above, Reached out to VPD from my employer at that time was very much interested in collaborating in a fundraiser. My employer would set a day and a few hours, and a portion of the sales during those hours would be donated to VPD. The email got in the hands of an employee by the name of John B. From the very beginning, John was very much interested in how much money would be collected. But the most he was more interested was for my employer to have a product made for the sale proceeds will go to VPD. He asked to forward the request of the creation of the product to our upper company. Afterwords, we did not hear a thing from him. A few weeks had pass with no responses or with an answer. We reached out once again. Got a responses back from John. He said that before they can confirmed to the fundraiser he wanted to make sure how much money (as In number wise) was going to be made from the day. When we told him it all depend on the promoting part (we were planning this for one whole month prior to a date, however with no response from John, it only gave less than 2 weeks to get the word out in regards to the fundraising.) after that, we heard nothing back from John and we decided to no longer pursue the fundraising project with VPD. I was so impressed with the service here. They were exceptionally helpful and friendly, clean, and my dog seemed relaxed when I picked her up. They gave her the cutest haircut, and they dematted her without issue. They also had her done in 2 hours which is the fastest she has ever been groomed. 5 star review for this pet adoption center. I spent a weekend in LA w/o my doggie brigade... 3 rescues Khira, Karajio & Ziggy. So I'm not there to adopt but since I was in the neighborhood I figured they may have some dog's that need some friendly attention... Of course they did behind the gate after you sign a waiver. First you spot the little puppies in the window! Absolutely adorable. But they probably get lots of love and attention... I move over to some of the shy older dogs. The guys working there tell me their stories and they have a laminated card description of each of the babies. They have a seating area circle you can sit in or walk the pups around it on a leash, also a couch to relax and interact with them. The actual store has lots of doggie accessories of all kinds. The prices are crazy high $$$$ (as expected) I donated some to the care of the dog's up for adoption. Bought a few things and some Yulin wristbands for coworkers and kids. I stumbled upon Vanderpump Dogs while walking my pup. I was excited to see a local adoption service and buy my dog a trinket. Whoever sits at the front desk possesses a lazy and cold attitude. It was by far the most unwelcoming experience in a long while. She was clearly judging me by my appearance and/or skin color. When you know, you know. She was engaging in a rudimentary staring contest with me, never uttering a word. It was strange. Rather than participate in her antics, I broke eye contact and decided to leave. Her evil demeanor deserves no place near dogs. They are already going through enough! I suggest removing her as her energy will rub off on the dogs. You can wear a mask to cover that face, but it cannot hide that ugly heart. After that terrible experience, I patronized the place next door - Try the new açaí spot. Excellent service and polite -- something foreign to Vanderpump. Moreover, all dogs deserve a chance at adoption, but if you want to engage with caring people, check out the adoption service in Larchmont @ Tailwaggers on Sundays near the farmers market. read more

Vander Pump Dogs in on 3rd Street in the Beverly Grove area, which is between Beverly Hills and The Grove. This shop is owned by Beverly Hills Housewives reality tv actress and entrepreneur Lisa Vander Pump. The exterior is bright pink and the interior is equally flashy with fancy chandeliers throughout lots of really nice and cute pet clothing, accessories, and yummy treats for your furbabe. Yesterday, Fendi had her nails trimmed and filed at her usual shop in Beverly Hills, but upon inspection, the nails didn't get the care an attention I expected, so off to Vander Pump. It had been a while since our last visit here. Fendi gets super excited and loves it here. The treats look yummy, but lucky for me Fendi doesn't care for treats. She prefers new blinged out collars, outfits and toys, which will get after the nails are correctly cut and filed. The groomer Sophy was nice and before handling Fendi, asked for current vaccinations proof. Good thing, I have pics of the proof from the vet, who she can call to verify. Although it seemed like a hassle, it was a request I am happy to provide because that means, less exposure to diseases for dogs here. But law, all grooming facilities must request vaccinations documentation, so your pet is less likely to contract anything. Before she dealt with Fendi, I witnessed Sophy clean, sleep and disinfect the grooming area and that cleanliness practice scored big with me. Sophy was thorough, caring and gentle I would recommend her to others. The nail grooming process was completed in very little time and Fendi looked and seemed happy. Purchased some more fancy bling collars and baby tshirts for Fendi. The store has nice fun merchandise with Lisa Vanderpump quotes on mugs and tshirts for adult wear. Half the store space is sectioned off for pet adoption. There was a weird crying sound coming from there and I had to look. Turned out to be a 10yrs old chihuahua who was recently homeless as its owner passed away....I almost adopted it, but I can barely handle one baby Fendi. Also Fendi's wound is not completely healed even after the stitches were removed. Let's hope this dog and all dogs here land in a forever home soon. I think this is the second review I've ever left on Yelp but I felt compelled to. After my previous grooming place, Healthy Spot, kept raising my price for grooming by 40% total... I had to make a change. I was pleasantly surprised that his groomer had also made the change to Vanderpump Dogs. My dog's groomer, Lucy, is seriously a wizard at grooming my bernedoodle, Hanon. She's such a delight to work with as she has such a nice and calming demeanor. Hanon's 5th birthday is on Monday and she bought him a toy AND a birthday treat! I was skeptical visiting Vanderpump Dogs first, thinking it would be a gimmicky place trading on the Vanderpump name that sold overpriced crap, but I'm pleased to say I had pegged the place entirely wrong! First off, Vanderpump Dogs is a non-profit organization, and all shop proceeds go to charity, which personally makes me much more willing to spend my money there, knowing that my purchase will help a dog in need (and give me something to write-off on my taxes). Second, the shop is adorable and totally Vanderpump-y! They have lots of Vanderpump-branded items, like little Vanderpump Rose dog toys, along with other non-branded, equally adorable dog toys that tend to be themed, like farmer's market, Hollywood glam, bedtime, etc. Toys change over every so often so you can get plenty of variety, prices are comparable to other boutiques, and whomever does the layout does a great job making you want to buy all of the toys. The decor is plush, with lots of fluffy rugs and a velvet couch to lounge on, and fortunately the staff is completely unfazed every time a dog visits the shop and pees or poops on one of the plush rugs! (They'll calmly clean up the mess right away, sparing you the embarrassment of your dog having just made a mess in the store.) They also sell lots of Vanderpump Dogs-branded accessories, like leashes and harnesses, and my dog absolutely loves her clip on harness and is much more comfortable in it than her other harnesses. Tempted into the store by the cute items, I checked into getting my dog groomed at Vanderpump Dogs. I've taken her there twice for baths and once for a full grooming so far. Each time, they've done a great job, prices are the same at all the comparable grooming spots in the area, and they throw in little extras like putting bows in my dog's hair for no extra charge. My only negative comment is that I wish they had the same shampoo that Dogue Spa uses, which has the loveliest smell ever, and the scented shampoo at Vanderpump smells like an old lady's closet (heavy of baby powder and flowers), but I've just learned to ask for the unscented shampoo, and that's fine. Lastly, I LOVE that there are adoptable dogs available through Vanderpump Dogs, and that you can meet them in the store! I'm tempted to get a second dog every time I visit. It's especially nice to see the environment that the dogs live in, which is clean, and that they're well cared for. I'm told there's a dog park on the roof of the building for the adoptable dogs too. read more

I want to give a special thanks to Patrick, who my friends referred me to, for grooming Nova. She is my friends dog that was rescued. Nova was abused and kenneled most of the time by her previous owner and was timid around men. She had cigarette burn marks on some of her paws and is very sensitive when people get near her paws. When I took her to Patrick, I voiced my concerns and he assured me she is in good hands. I noticed a sense of trust because Nova went with him with no hesitation (she trusted him instantly). After her spa/grooming day, she came out so happy. I was in shock that it was the same dog I dropped off and he was able to trim around her paws! Ana is simply the best!! My rescued my dog, Fergie, a couple years ago and it was such a struggle finding a groomer that first year. She was banned from a couple since she can be a bit snappy when people touch her. My friend recommended Vanderpump Dogs since they handle other small rescues. Ana is not only so kind every time I visit, but also so patient with Fergie. We've been going there about a year now and Fergie finally lets them do the full groom. I was excited to check this place out after seeing it on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills several times, but it seems TV has a way of glamorizing the average. The bright pink building is very eye catching and perfect for the Vanderpump brand. As you walk inside, there is a plethora of stimuli. Standard LVP decor with grand chandeliers, overstated (for a rescue center) furniture and interesting framed art on the walls. The table of dog treats is most inviting, featuring two and four tiered serving dishes covered with adorably decorated nibbles. The cookies, donuts and cupcakes are so cute your two year old child might be tempted to eat these tiny treats. If you're in the mood to purchase something, you have lots of options: from dog food to dog shampoo, dog collars to dog clothes, dog carriers to dog beds. Or, if you want something for yourself: jewelry, t-shirts, hats, water bottles, books, picture frames, etc. No shame in this game. My disappointment is in the actual rescue center of the store. While the merchandising seems extravagant, the "Dog House" pet area is sad and depressing. This spot needs a serious facelift. It looks nothing like the pristinely clean Yelp photos people posted a year ago. The woodwork is chipped and peeling and the floors and gates are a dingy white. The energy of the staff and/or volunteers working with the dogs ranged from welcoming to ignoring and things seemed disorganized so I was a bit confused by my experience. Overall, I expected a higher standard from this brand. While the store is worth a look, there's nothing special about the rescue center including the name. My girlfriend and I came all the way from Thousand Oaks yesterday in search of a forever friend! She fell instantly in love with a puppy that was there. Chad one of the associates there were so kind and so professional! We had such an amazing experience through the pet adoption process the other guys took my girlfriend in the back and showed her how to wash the puppy properly! Since the puppy had to have medicine on her coat, she showed her how to apply it! So I recently filled out an application for a dog at this establishments. They ask for a video of your apt and outside area I sent the video and the next day I received a text indicating they didn't think the dog was a gd fit for my place. I have a 1 bedroom house with more then enough room outside and in. The only reason I went to this establishment was based off watching the show and I really enjoyed the tv show and seeing how Lisa really helps other and pets. But before I went I did get a heads up from other people who were minorities about the denial of their application. I don't care what others say I make my own judgment. But sure enough I was declined by Paula and when I asked the reason she indicated to me the level of the dog being left alone was not good. On the application they ask what percentage would the dog be left alone I put 3% which means the dog would be with me 97% of the time traveling as well since I work in the film industry. But she wouldn't elaborate anymore and indicated I was being aggressive. I'm sorry but I should have listen to the other folks... When I told her I would file a complaint because I don't think she's being fair she rudely said gd luck with that! I hope they realize that you just never know who's an Important person and treating people like this is unacceptable, rude and disrespectful.. read more

Didn't have a great experience here. I would say it all entirely due to the customer service. I walked in, and if you've been here before, it's bright and filled with so many things, it can be overwhelming. I wasn't greeted or anything. After wandering around the store, I asked the lady at the cashier where the adoptable dogs and how I can see them. She wasn't friendly at all, and instead just pointed a finger over to the adoptable dog area and just said "over there." So, I walk over to the adoptable dogs area and the woman there wasn't friendly either. No greeting, no offer to help, nothing. I had to initiate everything from "Hi! I'd like to see your available dogs." to "How can I see the dogs?" She just waved her hand over to the iPad where you sign a waiver. Her tone was just unsettling. There was one dog I was curious to meet and she said "Are you sure? He's got like 17 applications in already, so are you sure you want to meet him?" To which I just ended up saying nevermind due to the tone. I left immediately. People aren't friendly here and it doesn't seem like a great place to adopt a dog anyway. read more

First... let me say I have never watched an episode of the Housewives... Also, I don't believe a woman can be married to a house - so don't think I care one bit who owns this place. I have no idea if Vanderpump is a person or a group of people. Don't care. What I DO care about is I saw an amazing Gilt City deal for dog grooming in my hood and I grabbed it. The offer was small dog grooming including all this: Consultation Haircut and style Shampoo and condition Ear cleaning and hair removal Eye, foot pad and sanitary trims Brush and blow-out Signature blueberry facial Pawdicure (nail trim and grind) Toothbrushing Gland check and treatment Paw massage Signature bow or bandana FOR $39. And I got an extra 30% off from a Gilt City promotion so... that is a hell of a deal. You cannot pass that up... Full grooming for like $27. I'll take it. So here's the info for anyone that also bought the Gilt City -- the address and phone number on the certificate are WRONG. I drove to the address on the Gilt City deal and found myself at a Mexican restaurant. They need to correct that. But their website is frequently down and they rarely answer the phone. So... I understand it's a new place and they're working out the kinks. Parking here is a complete mess... and they haven't yet figured out how to check in grooming clients so you'll walk around and try to find someone to help you. Oh yeah - it looks like a pink bath bomb exploded in the place full of glitter and little dogs. It's the worst example of what an "LA" dog salon should look like... so much pink and expensive cookies that you know your dog will NOT eat. If you're there for grooming you have to bring your rabies certificate. But to their credit, they do remind you about that. No problem... except rabies is not really a concern... dogs should be vaccinated for other things if they're going to be around other dogs - not just rabies. My little Yorkie isn't going to bite you and give you rabies. So I finally find parking and work my way through the pink madness and tourists taking pictures by the horribly pink signs (HOUSEWIFE - women can't be married to a house... remember?). I'm pulling a complete bitch fit... I get it. I'm holding a nervous little dog and they want me to fill out forms... why can't we do that online? Oh yeah... your website doesn't work. Fix that. My Gilt City deal said it was worth the full service - $65 value... but when I got there I was told that it was $5 extra because the service was really $70. Seriously? Anyway - my little baby looked amazing. She was in fact, perfect. I mean, Leia is perfect anyway but she looked just incredible. And she smells wonderful. And it only took them like 2 hours. On a weekend. Bottom line - $70 for grooming - especially that full service including teeth brushing, etc... isn't that high in LA. And I'd go back on a week day... weekends are insane full of tourists hoping to find a Housewife (is that even right?). For the deal I got on Gilt City - it was beyond worth the hassle. I also like that this place seems to have a commitment to animal rights and adoptions... important to me. Worth it? Yes. Will you have Paris Hilton flashbacks... Yes. Will there be pink dogs? So a few of the posts showed pictures of Shih Tzu puppies available for adoption. Let me say that I am not ready to adopt right now but had to just go down and see them and the place. Me being a Shih Tzu lover and having three of my own (now only one losing 2 recently) I just wanted to see them in person. They reminded me of my babies. My husband and I came in on a Saturday afternoon and we're greeted by staff when we walked in. We went straight to the right to look at the pups available for adoption. They were all sooo cute! I started to cry when I saw the Shih tzus...reminded me of my fur babies that recently passed away. If we were ready, I would have taken 2 if not 3 of them! So I signed the form to handle the puppies and used purelle to sanitize my hands. I held the baby girl and she was sooooo heavenly! It was emotional for me. Even as I write this I'm tearing up. After saying hello and good bye to the fur babies we walked around and checked out the place. Cute! We bought a bag of cookies that looked good with good ingredients (read labels people) for our fur baby! Only one complaint...no A/C when we went (broken) and it was hot for us and the fur babies...I felt bad, but better in there than in a shelter or in the streets. Hopefully the A/C will be fixed ASAP! My 1st experience here was great. I had to give a review because of the pleasant experience i overall received as a first time customer. I was running behind schedule that day and rather stressed. I called and kept in touch with the groomer (Lucy) who was really nice and offered to push back the time and work with me because it was my dogs birthday, and I had an important meeting that went over schedule. When I dropped him off it was barely an hour until I received a phone call that he was finished! He looked adorable too. Thank you guys! Def will be back. read more

I drove from Irvine to Los Angeles to adopt a dog at Vanderpump Dogs because I wanted to support Lisa Vanderpump's mission to take care of fur babies who need help. The pre-visit process was good. I put in an application, sent in a video home tour, and got approved for the dog I wanted. I was told he had two other apps in, and they couldn't hold the dog, so I figured I would probably lose out. However, after four days, when I was available to drive up to LA, the pup was still there. When I came out of the bathroom and came back up front, none of the people there knew where my dog was. Several of them said they "had not met that dog yet". Really? How could the dog be there for a week and not be seen yet? I waited around for a while because I was told the head guy "went to get the dog". From where? Wasn't he living at Vanderpump Dogs? It was just odd. I should note, there were several other adults in the facility and none of them were friendly or smiled or acted in any way welcoming. No one seemed to know what was happening, and they seemed pretty disorganized in general. Finally, the head guy got there and we said hello. He was NOT super friendly. He went upstairs to get the dog. (How did the employees not know the dog was there?) When the dog was brought down, I was warned that "sometimes you don't know if a dog is aggressive". ON THE WEBSITE, THIS DOG WAS LITERALLY DESCRIBED AS CALM, SWEET, AND CUDDLY. And now you are warning me about aggression? Then he said, "You know, dogs' personalities can change a lot in a new home." I had asked before I came to adopt the dog if he got along with other dogs and was told YES. But then this guy said something about not knowing if he would get along with other dogs because he hadn't done any mingling with the other dogs there. Then why did you tell me he got along with other dogs? I got the feeling I wasn't getting the full story on the dog. THEN HE SAID, "He costs $500." I stopped and looked at him in surprise because on the website, this dog cost $250. He was 8 years old, which counts as a "senior" dog, and any dog 7 years or older was supposed to cost $250. I had to pull up the website on my phone and SHOW IT TO HIM. He was a TOTAL ASSHOLE ABOUT IT. I am not kidding! Even after I showed him the price, he was reluctant to let go of the higher price. It was super RUDE. How could the guy in charge of the facility not know the correct adoption fees? My antennae are now UP and I am realizing that nothing about this feels right or good. But I had come all this way for this dog... Then I asked, "Do you have his vaccination records and shelter papers?" The guy acted a bit taken aback and remained cold. He kind of stumbled and hesitated and then said he would have to look for them upstairs. At that point, every alarm bell in my body was going off. My gut was telling me that things were not completely on the up and up at Vanderpump Dogs, which breaks my heart because I had such positive expectations prior to this experience. I needed to go move my car to avoid getting a ticket (max 30 minute parking). I told them I would be back after I moved my car. When I found another parking spot, I just sat there not knowing what to do. I had driven for 90 minutes on the way (and two hours to get home due to traffic) to get this dog, but I also have learned in life that when my internal alarm is ringing, I need to LISTEN to it. I agonized for about 10 minutes. Finally, I texted the guy that I had changed my mind and would not be taking the dog. Then I drove the two hours home. I came to Vanderpump Dogs because I have such respect and admiration for Lisa Vanderpump's film on the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. I have had the impression that she really has done a lot to help find homes for dogs in need. This experience makes me wonder, does Lisa know that her employees are outright rude and unfriendly and uninformed and don't even know the correct prices for the adoptions? She might want to head down there and get the customer service up to par. I regret that I had such a poor experience at her business, because I wanted to be able give five stars to this experience. EDIT: Today is December 2, and I returned a call to Paola at Vanderpump Dogs. We had a very cordial conversation, and she spent some time explaining to me some of the factors involved regarding my visit to Vanderpump Dogs. I truly appreciated her calling to give me her perspective. I am going to up my review to two stars rather than one because she seemed very genuine in her explanation. I got my pup frank groomed today I was greeted very nicely till my groomer not sure what his name was had an instant attitude for no reason I ordered the deluxe package that came with so many things that they didn't deliver on he said my dog bit which I apologized about and tipped nicely for but when I saw some services were missing and the cut job was bad I called back and the same black guy that did franks cut had the same shitty attitude 0/10 don't recommend they don't care about dogs read more
