I'm not sure what kind of bakeries these people have been to in the past but it's basically an empty store with literally a few different cookies and a few different cup cakes. Absolutely nothing unique. If this is what people think is a 4 star bakery I could be rich. I ordered a cheesecake on Thursday for Friday my father went into the hospital (CDH) with heart problems and I guess I learned my lesson of paying in advance because they thought it more important to pick up my cheesecake on Friday or Saturday with my father having a potential heart attack ( He didnt thank god). When I went in on Monday to pick up my $50 cheesecake because they are closed on Sunday. I was told there is nothing they can do other than give me a $30 dollar credit on another cheesecake. Sorry no cheesecake is worth $70. The way I see it I paid for a product I never received and they threw away MY PAID for cheesecake. My question is if this bakery is so unbelievably good then why couldn't they sell one cheesecake in two days? I've never even heard of a successful bakery that can function at that level. No ill stick with 7/11 much better pricing its nothing special but then again either was theirs and most important I know ill get what a pay for. BBB is next! I also find it a bit suspicious that their biggest fans are from the furthest distances away. We were excited to try this bakery as there website looks like they have a great assortment. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The dessert (Apple caramel treat) was good, but the service was awful. The staff was very unfriendly. The coffee was cold. And the prices were rather high. He ambiance was rather cold and lifeless. Vanilla Sugar Bakery did our wedding cake and cupcakes, and the guests raved over them! Anything we have tried from VSB has been outstanding. My favorite is the Fat Elvis, but I wouldn't anything they had to offer. I honestly believe that had we not provided "to go" boxes for our guests, they would have shoved them into purses and walked out with them anyway. My best friend and I discovered this bakery about a year ago. The decor is adorable it's pink and pretty. The name itself makes you want to go there. The staff is extremely friendly and are patient when a customer is trying to decide what type of deliciousness they want to bring home. I have gone here multiple times . Every cupcake I have tried I have never been disappointed in. My absolute favorite one is the funfetti. They also have a Facebook page and they post what types of dessert they are displaying that day. I have commented on their post before and they answer back. The next time I need to order a cake it will be done through them. The creations they come up with are so fun and you can tell that it's all from scratch. The cupcakes are fresh moist and you can't really stop at one. I have tried to cut back from going here but I can't stop. I have told so many friends about this place. They have gone here come back to me and tell me oh my god that was the best cup cake or cookie I've ever had in my life. Keep up the great work. Cupcakes are too heavy on the frosting, and the macarons use frosting as a filling, which is not a macaron.

The goodies were yummy but the customer service was poor the two times I have been here. It is also very pricey and their weekend hours are limited. I may try it again in hopes that they have hired a more friendly staff! read more

Service is very slow. Stopped in 10 minutes before my train and the lady at the counter took 7 minutes with the person in front of me, then said " be right back". Needless to say I left to make my train and will never know if what they serve is any good! read more

Husband purchased a cake for our26th wedding anniversary Beautiful to look at cake with perfect execution of decoration BUT it was not edible. The sugar frosting was just more sugar, the cake so dry it crumbled, and the filling was just more sugar. The cake was 8 inches, 3 layers totaling just over 2.5 inches of actual cake covered in 1.75 pounds of frosting that tasted like a pasty pile of unflavored sugar. Even the "chocolate" frosting between the layers had virtually no flavor other than sugar and a bit of brown color. My husband loves good cake and actually seems to believe that a cake or cupcake is a vehicle for delivering good frosting, and he couldn't eat this cake as it was made! When I called the bakery I was told they do not give refunds and that is the way the cake is supposed to be. I was offered a 15.00 dollar store credit (Why would I want more of this horrible tasting cake?) on a cake that cost more than 30.00 dollars. When I asked if someone could have made a mistake with the ingredients the employee started yelling at me. During my conversation with the employee she kept talking loudly over me untiI I had to raise my voice to talk over her. All of a sudden she declared I was yelling at her and she did not have to take it and this conversation was being recorded (illegal to record conversation and not divulge you are being recorded at beginning of call) and I was going to be reported to her supervisor (I hope she did and I hope it was the whole conversation.) I was not yelling only trying to talk over her and I could not believe this employee's tactics to make the customer seem like the villain. I was in disbelief when told by the employee the cake was supposed to be this way. (2 inches of sugar for frosting and dry crumbling cake.) If you are looking for a special cake for a special occasion I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

This use to be my favorite go to place. Not any more. The sisters that own it are very nice but the rest of the staff. Meh- not worth it. The pastries are fantastic but the price is beyond control. I use to love to pop in but they never had what I wanted. I ordered a birthday cake it was great, then another super ultra dry. The third one because I believe in chances that did me in. They will accommodate food allergies which is great. To bad there so expensive now and they hire people with poor attitudes. read more

The First time I tasted Vanilla Sugar Cake was at my daughter Bridal Shower. We were all talking about how DELICIOUS the Bridal Shower cake was so pleasing to the senses. Later to my surprise our Wedding planner was having a problem with our other bakery for our Wedding Cake he could not send us a sample picture for approval, they were poor at calling with updates wouldn't assist us on any level. The Wedding was less than 7 days away. I remember how DELICIOUS the Bridal Shower cake was. I called Norma - Vanilla Sugar Bakery. I explained the situation we were in . Norma was so supportive and helpful using my daughter suggestions, she sent pictures for approval right away. I was so happy with this shop's ability to help us at the last minute and relief i had because of Norma. The Wedding Cake was so Beautiful my daughter loved how she decorated it. Vanilla Sugar Bakery is by far my favorite place to visit when I come home. I currently live in Boston and CRAVE their cupcakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls and more on the daily. VSB is an adorable place to bring families and friends as there is ample seating! The coffee (Metropolis) is by far my favorite type of coffee. All of the baristas have been trained and always make my lattes and cappuccinos to perfection. VSB has created memorable cakes for my family that have never disappointed and always leave us wishing for more! These ladies put their heart and soul into every baked good, every cake they create, and even in every shot of espresso they pull. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

WoW! This place is fantastic. I was taking a risk when buying a cake for my daughter's baptism but only because I had never tasted anything from here before. Norma helped me with my order and was extremely accommodating. I can be a bit particular. :0) When I came to pick up the cake, I was so happy with how it turned out. At the baptism, I received numerous compliments on how beautiful the cake was and how incredibly tasty it was. My mom was visiting from out of town and she couldn't get enough of it. We ordered a cake with buttercream frosting and salted caramel with chocolate on the inside. Seriously, the best cake I've ever had!!! My favorite bakery of all time. Since moving to the area we were getting our cakes from the grocery stores, but kept looking for a good bakery. For my daughter's 16th birthda, she wanted something different and wanted cupcakes. My wife and I happened to be nearby and looked up a bakery and they came up. Tried a few items and have been hooked since. Their cupcakes are amazing, cookie bars and cookie sandwiches are to die for. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere. read more

Cute bakery, terrible cupcakes & cookies. The frosting on the cupcakes tasted like canned. The cake tasted like boxed. The filling was just blah. We bought a bunch of different ones to share at an event and no one liked them. One bite and the rest went into the garbage. At $3 a pop, it hurt. The M&M cookies were raw. It was very disappointing. Think twice before you go. The cupcakes caused headaches....very very sweet, but not sweet tasting!!!! read more
