This salon is hot garbage. They called to cancel my daughter's appointment 8 minutes after her scheduled appointment as she was walking in late due to parking limitations. Never mind that they make their patrons wait every time and this one instance my daughter shows up 10 minutes late they cancel her. The receptionist is rude. Would not let me voice my concerns to the owner but deflected to the stylist being independent. Not only has this unprofessional stylist and this garbage salon lost the business of my three daughters but everyone that I know that goes there. read more

WOW! First time here. What a wonderful amazing customer experience this morning at Vanity Salon. It starts with the receptionist who made my appointment. She asked all the right questions so the stylist new what I wanted. My appointment day she greeted me as I came in and offered me a beverage. The stylist (Trisha) was on time and came to greet me with hand out to shake and was so glad to see me. Like we were old friends. She hung my coat up and to the chair we went. She referenced what I was having done and asked me additional questions. I had a full highlight and hair cut that was perfect. Absolutely fabulous work that Trisha perfected for my needs. I was very happy with my visit to Vanity today. Like most people, my COVID-19 hair has seen better days and I haven't been doing much to it. Well, I needed a pretty drastic change. I visited Vanity once for a color correction over 10 years ago and decided to try it again. Lena was awesome! She was very professional and you could tell she enjoys what she does. She cut maybe 7 inches off and gave me the most adorable lob. Due to COVID-19, you are required to wait outside until someone lets you in so they can control the number of people in the salon. Upon entering, you have to use hand sanitizer. You'll need to wear a mask for the entire time and the staff members do also. I was really pleased with the price. They are a very professional and upscale salon and they are reasonably priced for it. I had looked around at a few other salons but Vanity was the best fit in my budget. read more

I've been a client at Vanity for over a year now and am very impressed. The salon has a modern, yet warm esthetic. The front desk staff is terrific! They manage the phones well, and have worked to "squeeze" me in when there's been a cancellation. Checking in and out is generally very efficient. The salon offers hair, nails, and aesthetician services. I generally get base color, highlights and a cut/style for about $140, which seems very reasonable. I see Lenna, who is terrific! Whenever I want to do anything different, I don't feel like I do a good job of explaining it, but somehow, I walk out with what I wanted. She understands my shorthand very well. She's REALLY good with color! I like to play, which could be dangerous left to my own devices. I always leave looking modern and chic, but appropriate for my 45 years and professional career. The only thing I didn't like was having my brows waxed at the shampoo station. My brows looked terrific! I would just rather do that in private. read more

I have been going to Kelly since moving to the area two years ago. I had a disastrous encounter at the first local salon I tried. It ended with bad highlights and Farrah Fawcett hair. I friend recommended Vanity Salon and said "everyone there is pretty good" so I just booked with Kelly because she was available. I lucked out! Kelly does the best highlights and is a perfectionist with color. I have been to salons from Royal Oak, Ferndale and Birmingham over the years and this is by far the best color that I have had and I think that the price fell in line with what other salons charge. I'm pretty laid back with my hair and usually just leave it up to her. Recently I wanted a change and let her chop my hair. The cut was perfect! I found Vanity on Yelp, and scheduled a cut and color. After the receptionist messed up and only scheduled me for a color, they had to rush to find someone else to cut my hair. The stylist who colored my hair did a lovely job. But the stylist who cut my hair... she spent less than 10 minutes barely trimming it, despite my request for layers and my ends chopped off. After that, she spent probably 5 minutes styling my hair into a frizzy mess and coating it with wax, and then charged me 60 bucks. read more

I looked long and hard before settling with two fantastic hair stylists, both of whom are currently at Vanity Salon: Jane Peterson for cuts and Shawna Woods for color. They're both the best; can't say enough good about them. Both help you figure out what works for you, not just what they think you should have. Both spend time each session looking at what your hair is doing, talking with you to find out what you need. They're artists in what they do. This place has disappointed me beyond belief. I purchased a gift card for my mom. We spent $85 dollars on a gift card for a mani and pedi. When my mom went in she was made fun of and laughed at by multiple employees. She had to sit through her nail appointment listening to the staff giggle and talk about her. The woman who did her mani and pedi did a HORRIBLE job and she left feeling bad about herself. When you go to a salon you expect to leave feeling better about yourself, not worse. This was completely UNACCEPTABLE. Their slogan on there website is to "provide excellent customer service to their guest." Apparently, this is a joke to their staff and they have no problem treating their clientele like dirt. I will not be a customer of this establishment and I will not tell refer my friends and family. I've been here now 4 times after moving to the area due to the high reviews. The first time I had my eyebrows done and she did a great job. After this I went back several times to get a blow out for events. Each time the stylist was extremely nice but the styles did not turn out well. I don't think their stylist are trained to work with curly hair and don't understand how to blow dry and straighten curly hair.Both times I had to go home and redo the hair myself. My mother in law and I made appointments to have updo's done for a wedding we were attending. While we had anticipated a quality and relaxing experience, this is not what we got. Kelly, my stylist ran 35 minutes late on her appointment before me so I waited. While I waited she asked me to go over to another station and flat iron my own hair. I told her once heat is put on my hair it would not curl afterward.. She was visibly frustrated with that. I sat down and told her what I wanted and what I didn't want. I explained some past experiences I'd had and I felt that I was pretty clear about what I wanted. I also tried to make it as simple as possible! Nothing too extravagant to avoid it not coming out right or taking 3 hours. I said "wand curl all the hair and pin it up toward top of my head not on the back". She gave a look in the mirror like she had no idea what I was talking about. She said she didn't use a wand so we compromised with a marcel hot tools curling iron. THEE same curling iron I use everyday! She complained about my hair the ENTIRE TIME! She told me it was so fuzzy that she could hardly do anything with it. She made me feel like I was some kind of homeless person or something... She then started to pin the UNCURLED hair to the back of my head. Apparently the only updo Kelly can do is prom hair..... I was getting extremely frustrated and worried about time since I had already been sitting in the salon for an hour and a half. I got up and went to the bathroom to collect my self, I was very upset and humiliated! I came back out to find Kelly outside smoking..... I asked if I could pay so I could go. I then went home, got out my same marcel hot tools and did my hair myself!! It turned out beautiful like it does everyday because I'm not a homeless frizzy haired beast like she made me feel! I had my hair cut several times by Kaaren Eyre. The first 2 times she did a good job. The 3rd time I was not as satisfied. When I got home I thought about it for a few hours and decided to arrange to go back for a minor correction. When she approached me, I apologized. I continued to apologize to her several times. The first words out of her mouth were "what about the haircut I gave you, don't you like?" . She was pretty defensive and had a chip on her shoulder the entire time she was making corrections. It was no longer the slightly less than perfect haircut (which she corrected), it was the attitude she gave me. It's a shame because not only will she no longer get my business but neither will the lady (I forgot her name) who highlighted my hair or Trudy who I had had a recent facial from. Sorry ladies, but 1 person ruined it for the bunch. There are MANY salons / competition with the city limits of Plymouth.
